Anti-stress Meditation

Stress is self-created, born from wrong mental thinking.

Humans are the most troublesome creatures, creating pollution and illness by living unnaturally. Wrong eating and desires lead to disease. Desires are vikāra—kāma, krodha, lobha, moha, ahaṅkāra—and they cause suffering. Renunciation is the only way. Give up fashion addiction, artificial cosmetics, hair coloring, and artificial nails. Use natural alternatives. This reduces stress and improves health. Meditation brings inner peace. Withdraw from the external world. Focus on the breath. Observe a tiny flame in the inner space. Let awareness follow that light far and far. Expand consciousness to the universe. Feel oneness with all. Realize your state affects others: if you are relaxed, others relax. Be happy within your limitations, practice daily, and life blossoms.

"Renounce and enjoy."

"The stress is our own thinking. It is not because of the work, because not so many activities."

We shall chant first three times Oṃ. We shall chant first three times, "Oṃ." Relax yourself. Feel your presence here. Make yourself comfortable. Of course, you need not close your eyes. Just take in your awareness this environment. Dīpa Karatā Mahāprabhū, Dīpa Karatā He Kevalam… Devādideva, Deveśvara Mahādeva, kī Jaya. Good evening, all dear ones. The whole world is suffering from this stress. Not only the grown people, but the children too. And not only the children, but also the house pets. They are also under stress. There is sometimes a question coming in the mind. We know that there are 8.4 million different creatures. One out of them is a human. The most intellect is with the humans. The most clever is a human. In every aspect, we always glorify ourselves—that we humans are the best, this is number one. Number two, who creates or makes the conferences? Do animals do it, or do humans? Next point. Who creates most of the pollution on this earth? Out of 8.4 million creatures. Do animals come together and speak about pollution? Then why do humans worry about this? Who creates this kind of pollution and stress? Now, who is the most troublesome creature on this earth? The most problematic creation on this earth is the human. So, how do we put in that category that humans are the best? Why is pollution created by humans? Because they don’t lead their life in a natural way. The way of eating is completely wrong. The human became the consumer of all food. It is said, are you living for eating, or are you eating for living? It seems that we are living for eating. There is no animal on this planet that is as ill as a human. Still, we are sleeping. We are not awakened, not alert. Therefore, out of all this, what humans are doing wrong creates the tension. We are still very active in creating tension, pollution, and restlessness. The disaster on this planet, this earth, is caused by humans. The environment, the warming, is the humans. So, what can glorify? What can I tell you more beautiful about humans? That’s why God created humans, that kind of creature: that they come and get mokṣa and go hurry home. But they don’t want that. They went in a wrong way. Do not put guilt on others. What I told now, think how much you are involved in these things which I told you now. So don’t be in that stream of competition. Never compete. We live a wrong life. We are completely in distress and desire. And those desires which you want to fulfill will never happen. That will lead you to death. But we will not be able to fulfill that wish, that desire, which you are hoping for every day. And that is called vikāra. Vikāra means disease. Like a fruit which lies for a long time gets rotten and stinks, that is the condition of the human who becomes ill. It is rotten and becomes stinking, and we put it into the fire. Animals don’t die like humans die. They don’t suffer like that. They have a spontaneous, comfortable death, unless someone is hunting them. So this is a stress which we are carrying with us. Vikāra means those diseases which we learn in yoga: kāma, krodha, lobha, moha, ahaṅkāra, etc. And we will die in this. So if you are clever enough and you want to get a happy life again, get healthy again, then there is only one way: renounce. Gandhi said, "Renounce and enjoy." So now you know what you will renounce, according to what I told you. And practice in order to purify your body and your mind. And your desires, inventions, you will not fulfill. Better give up or suffer it. So, would you like to suffer? Suffering, mentally suffering, torturing yourself. It cannot be meditation there, but practicing day by day. First, give up what we call "use and throw." Use your dress for ten years or more. Don’t run behind this craziness of fashion. This fashion is not right. That’s it. You have a nice dress. When it’s very old, it tears. Okay, then make a new dress. That’s all. A lot of your money is gone on your fashion, so first give this up. How much cosmetic are you using, and for what? That cosmetic makes you more ill. It makes you more ill. You are taking on more illness with this kind of artificial cosmetics. Yes, do the cosmetic, use the real oil. Olive oil, sesame oil, sunflower oil, almond oil. All these things, natural things used for your body; do not use unnatural things. And you color your hair, it looks beautiful. Yes, it’s really beautiful. But it is not reality. You are hiding. You are hiding. You know, it’s not easy to get grey hair. Long, long experiences. How many years and years we were working, and many, many different vikāras we had. Finally, to be proud to have a white wristwatch. Yes, beautiful. And as long as you did not reach that goal, of course you have some black. So here, how many of you have color in your hair? You will not become young because you get a color like this. You have beautiful nails. Good nails. Why do you make your nails very weak and damaged to put artificial nails on them? And you are typing only like this. Not like that. So there are many, many things. Fashion is the cause of your illness also. The nourishment, the artificial make-ups, or all this kind of, what do you call it, make-up. So I give you today one makeup. And that will make you happy, joyful, and healthy. That means what I told you, understood? Now make up your mind that I will not do those things which harm my health, harm my children, my family, etc. Then, all problems are solved. No more stress. So this is awareness. We have to become more aware. So let’s sit for meditation, anti-stress meditation. So that was just a glimpse of the stress meditation to get rid of stress. So without stress, without any discomfort, make yourself comfortable. Lie down comfortably. At least today, sit comfortably. Yes. If you have no place, come here in the front. Very good. And if you have a mantra, and you have your mantra and mālā, then take it in your hand. You know, there is one bhajan. And in that bhajan, the saint who made the bhajan said, "O God, I am a bird of your sheep. I am sitting on your boat. Now I’m in the middle of the ocean. I try to fly away. But there is nowhere a shelter. Again I come to thy boat." And so is your mantra. Is that which always will bring you back to your inner boat in the heart. So, take your mālā and close your eyes. If you want to open your eyes from time to time, no problem. God gave you eyes to close and open. But now for meditation, it’s better you keep your eyes closed. Repeat your mantra. Close your eyes. And feel comforted. Withdraw thyself from the external world. Relax. Relax. I am relaxed. I am comfortable. I feel myself in the body. I feel myself in my body, and I love my body. The everlasting, my friend, is my body. Everyone can leave me, but my body will not leave me until the end of my life. Relax, what’s past is past. The past is gone. The water is gone in which you were in the river, making a deep in it. When you came out of the river, that water was not there anymore. Similarly, you passed from the second. Is gone. Elmúlt. That will never come back to you. So all the past, good and bad, negative, harmonious, joyful, is gone. Relax, lazícs. Bring your awareness to your breath. Be aware of your breath. The breath is that friend which will be with you until the last minutes of your life. We don’t know. We cannot trust when this breath will stop. The most pleasant feeling in the body is our breath. Relax. Relax. How beautiful, how pleasant, how divine, how comfortable, how gentle the breath. This divine breath brings to our body, to our nose, a beautiful fragrance. This divine breath brings wonderful scents into our bodies and into our ears. Relax, be one with the breath. Coordinate your body and breath. Be above all desires. Be above all your ambitions. Be above all that belongs to you. Temporarily in this world, be one with thyself. Relax and feel the happiness. It’s all in your imagination. Just relax, and all these traits will disappear automatically. Relax. Be above all your desires. Be above all your ambitions. Rise above all the things that are temporary for you. Relax and be happy. Just relax. Be with yourself. Now, look to your inner space, Cidākāśa, the space behind the forehead wall. At the center of thy brows, and from there, imagine a tiny flame. And from here, imagine a small flame, a tiny flame. A small flame. In the dark space, a beautiful flame is going a far distance with very high speed. In the dark space, the flame is going a far distance with very high speed. Without any stress, without any disturbances, in the inner space, far and far, light of your life, observe that light in that far space. Let it go, just let it go. Relax, observe that space. Observe that light, let your awareness follow that light which has gone far and far. Expand your consciousness. Expand your inner space. Relax thyself in endless space. Forget everything. Be sure that your ātmā is the divine. Relax. Feel relaxed, comfortable. Be aware of your being as happy, healthy, and relaxed, without any stress. Feel yourself relaxed and comfortable. Be aware of your being as happy, healthy, and relaxed, without any stress. Now imagine thyself in that flame as thyself. You are light, you are the energy, you are the consciousness. Expand thyself in the whole universe. Feel one with the entire universe. You are in the space, and space is within you. Relax. And now, come, become aware of your body, each and every limb of the body: your hands, your fingers, shoulders, elbows, arms, palms, fingers, stomach muscles, back muscles, hip joints, thighs, knees, calves, everything. Feel your whole body. You are the king of your body. Relax and take care of your body. Feel your breath, inhalation and exhalation. Deep inhale, and we will chant Oṃ three times. Oṃ. Nam Karata Prabhudīp Karata Mahāprabhudīp Karata He Kevalam Om Śānti Śānti… Fold your hands, rub your palms, place the hands on your face, warm your face muscles, open your eyes, and bend forward. Touch your forehead to the ground, place both hands on the ground, and feel the blood circulation. Your head, towards your face, face muscles. Feel the energy. With the help of your hands, slowly raise your head up. Sit straight. Hari Om. The stress is our own thinking. It is not because of the work, because not so many activities. The stress is our own mental thinking that gives the pressure on your shoulders unnecessarily. You become very stressful and fearful. You know, there is one story. There was a dentist, and he was a very good dentist, and many people used to go to him. And you know, the dentist, mostly they get a lot of money. The price is their own thinking. Well, but the doctor had one problem. He wanted to have a wife, and he was already 45 years old. But he couldn’t find a wife. If someone met him, they would survive a maximum of three or four days. So he is very unhappy. So he went one day to some psychologist. And the psychologists also came to know that he was a rich dentist. So the pride of the psychologist was also higher than the dentist’s. But he gave him good advice. If you ask her which music she likes, and she will tell you some music, he will say, "That’s my favorite one." What kind of artistic work do you like? Oh, painting of that and that painter. Then say, "Wow, I have that picture in my house, from that artist." And so on and so on. So whatever she tells you she likes, yes, you must say, "Yes, I like it." So he was doing like this. One day, he met a lady. And she, they went for a walk or somewhere to a restaurant to eat. And he asked her, "What’s your hobby?" She said, "Music." Which one? Mozart. Oh, I have all the discs of Mozart. I like that one. What do you like more? Artistic. Oh, the painting of that person. Oh, that I have in my sleeping room. Well, what kind of food do you like? She said, "Well, I’m vegetarian and I like organic food." Mistakenly, I brought you today to this restaurant. I like vegetarian and what you call vegan. Well, he said, "Can I invite you tomorrow to my house? There will be vegetarian food." She said, "Good idea." She was also searching for some crazy man like that. She was also crazy. Now, this man went shopping, and he got all of Mozart’s music. He also brought the instruments to play, and he went from one museum to another museum to find that beautiful picture of that artist. And he found it. It was very expensive. It took about 5 million euros. If you want to have a wife, then you must fulfill it. So he bought it, Megvette. He brought it home, Hazavitte, and he went to a vegetarian restaurant. And he brought the food because he didn’t know how to cook. So he brought the food there. Now he gave the time that she should come about 7:30. Everything was tip-top, and he was happy. And on that day, the dental hospital was closed. Now he’s searching for the hanging, that painting. But one thing he didn’t have: the hammer. He had a nail also, but in his house, no one knew a hammer. And she will come soon, and when she comes into my sleeping room to see that picture, the painting, and if it’s not hanging, oh God, that will be the first disappointment. So he was searching for the hammer in the house. Then he said, "Well, I can borrow from my neighbor." So he wanted to go to the neighbor. He said, "I am the doctor. And I’m a dentist. I’m a rich man. And this poor neighbor, I go to him like a beggar." No, no. He took four or five chewing gums in his mouth. Stress, there’s stress. She will come in 40 minutes. Well, I can go and ask for the hammer. It doesn’t matter; he’s poor. Then he went out of the door and said, "No. If he will say, ‘I have no hammer,’ he has a hammer, but he will not give me the hammer." I will look like a poor person. I will be offended. No, I don’t want his neighbor’s hammer. He is looking to watch. The market is closed. He can’t buy the hammer. He said, "Well, she will come now in 25 minutes." I can go and tell the neighbor kindly, "Please, can you lend me your hammer?" And he’s going halfway. I said, "No, I’m not a beggar." And I know you will refuse. Purposely, he will push me down. No, no. He goes into the house again. See the picture. He puts it there. He puts it there, but he’s thinking. I promised her, hanging in my sleeping room. And if she will come into my sleeping room and there is no painting, she said, "Well, I will go to the neighbor." No. I will put the picture there. I don’t want his hammer. But how does he know that I don’t need his hammer? He is thinking; he is talking to himself. Red face, sweating, hands are trembling. How should he know that I want to borrow his hammer, and I know he will not give it, and he will humiliate me? But how should he know that I don’t need his hammer? I will show him, so he went to the door. Neighbor said, "Yes, sir. I don’t need your hammer." Put it on your head. Close the door. And the neighbor said, "Oh, what happened, sir?" The neighbor said, "You know what happened. So, now she’s coming." And he still did not open the discs from the Mozart. She said, "Oh, you said you have music, but it’s all very new." And there was a bill. I just bought it today. She said, "Oh, you have a whole new set from today." He said, "Yes, the other was old, so I didn’t want to have that. For you, I brought it new." She said, "Yes, very good. Thank you, nice of you." Your apartment is beautiful. He said, "Yes, do you like it? I made this apartment for someone to be happy here. And I have that painting." She said, "Oh yes, you told me that it’s hanging in your sleeping room." He said, "I will show you after." She said, "No, no, I want to see how, because I love that painting." Oh, it’s hanging, not hanging. You said it was hanging. He said that was the other sleeping room. She said, "Oh yes, but you know, sir, I’m very busy now, and my husband is waiting outside in the car." And he said, "Okay," and he shut the door. That means how unnecessarily one creates stress. And that stress is unnecessarily giving us troubles, torturing our life. So this is that; don’t imagine something which is not realisable. And what you are doing, you are doing good. Don’t create stress. Keep it within your limitations. You will be happy. And meditate every day. This stress-releasing meditation is anti-stress. Then our life will be happy, and we will be happy and practicing good. Your business will be blossoming. Your health will become better and better. The family relations will be more and more harmonious. It is our own stress that creates stress for others. There is one little example, a real story. In 1972, last, about November, December, in Vienna, in yoga classes, one American lady came. She was the wife of an ambassador. And she liked yoga very much. Seventy-two. And I told her not to do this and that, and she was happy. And after two weeks, she said, "Can I talk to you?" I said, of course. It doesn’t cost money. She said, "No, sir, I will give you more money." I said, so go ahead, tell me what you want. Is that possible? I said, "Yes, what? That yoga is so powerful?" I said, "Yes. What do you mean?" Is it possible that I practice yoga and my husband becomes positive? I said, yes, this is a specialty of yoga in their life. Wow! Since I practice yoga, my husband is very calm and very relaxed. I said, "Go ahead, practice yoga, yeah?" So it was her stress. She was nervous; she was restless. And yoga made her very calm and peaceful. So that poor husband was released, and she told her husband. And she said, "Yes, darling, I heard about that yogī." And many people were happy with him. She said, "Dahali, can you go with me also?" So he said, "Yeah, you are relaxed enough." That was the story. So if we are good, others are good. If we are relaxed, others are relaxed. If we are happy, others are happy. If we are angry, others are angry. So, the cause is within ourselves. And everything is a play of your mind and your imagination. Good or bad, everything is produced within ourselves. Tomorrow, we will continue. We wish you a very good evening, all the best, and blessings.
