Honorable guests, ladies and gentlemen, dear friends, It is an amazing privilege that our Czech Hindu religious community, Vishwaguru Deep Hindu Mandir, could support the Śrī Svāmī Māyādvanandjī World Peace Council in organizing the Yoga for World Peace and Non-Violence International Conference in Prague today. First, I thank His Holiness Vishwagurū Paramahaṁsa Svāmī Maheśvarānandajī for initiating this series of conferences organized worldwide by the Śrī Svāmī Madhavānandajī World Peace Council. This is a unique opportunity for international leaders and experts to discuss world peace and exchange ideas on how to realize the message of peace and nonviolence promoted by Mahātmā Gandhījī and His Holiness Śrī Svāmī Madhavānandajī. Vishwa Gurujī Madhavānandjī has been a great source of inspiration. Those with the good karma to know him personally can confirm he is an inexhaustible well of knowledge and wisdom. Globally, millions have had the privilege of his darśan in person or through yoga classes and programs offered by his disciples across India, Europe, America, Asia, Australia, and New Zealand. Beyond world peace projects like today’s conference, Vishwagurujī has initiated numerous humanitarian projects. These range from supporting underprivileged families through the Vishwagurujī Gyanputra project in India, to rainwater harvesting in Rajasthan’s desert, the Śrī Svāmī Madhavānand Ostia Hospital, and the Grand Om Ashram projects, which are part of the Om Vishwadeep Gurukul Svāmī Maheśvarānandajī Ashram Education and Research Centre in the Pali district. I have always been amazed by the depth of his insight and his resolve to overcome obstacles to serve mankind and the whole creation. I say the whole creation because Vishwagurujī’s wide reach includes environmental protection and animal rights. Our organization was founded by His Holiness Viśvagurujī Paramahaṁsavāmī Maheśvarānandajī. Our aim is to support Hindu religion and culture in the Czech Republic and internationally. Why does a Hindu organization co-organize a yoga conference? The reason is simple. Yoga and Hinduism share many common values and principles, including non-violence, ahiṃsā, and peace, to name just two related to today’s topic. The Czech Hindu Religious Community Vishwaguru Deep Hindu Mandir is a religious society, but the principles we promote are universal. On a personal level, they include truth, wisdom, self-control, peacefulness, love for all beings, compassion for the suffering, humbleness, selflessness, and many other qualities that are essential pillars of life. Beyond the personal level, we consider all religions equal, as different parts of the same one God. Yoga is not a religion. It represents the original balancing principle that promotes nonviolence and peacefulness. I am persuaded that to achieve peace in the world, we must start by achieving inner peace ourselves. To achieve inner peace, we must renounce negative qualities like anger, greed, pride, and jealousy. We must embark on the difficult but fascinating journey of self-discovery. It is a daily challenge to improve ourselves, but it is worth the effort. It is a privilege for the Czech Hindu Religious Community, Vishwa Gurudev Hindu Mandir, to co-organize this conference. We hope it creates a platform to exchange ideas and share experiences on using yoga and its universal principles to make this world a peaceful, non-violent place for all beings. The conference aims to provide a platform for respectful relations among people of various races, religions, and expertise. I hope all speakers and participants find the conference useful and that it inspires us in our personal and professional lives to continue fostering peace and harmony. Finally, I wish this conference every success and look forward to listening to the inspiring speakers today. Thank you very much.
