Remember the beauty of the world

The tree is a mirror for the self, revealing the nature of perception and memory. Observe the external world with full concentration, then close your eyes to visualize it. This tests and develops inner sight. The tree, with its roots in earth and branches in air, reflects the human system from the base of the spine to the crown of the head. One is not a singular entity; the body hosts a universe of microscopic life, a community within. Memory stores all experiences. Consciously retain only the beautiful and nourishing visions, letting go of the unpleasant. These stored impressions become the material for deep meditation. When the mind is scattered, return to these reservoirs of natural beauty to restore focus and peace.

"Similarly, it is with our spine, from the Mūlādhāra Cakra to the top of the head."

"So when you cannot concentrate, you cannot meditate, then go to that beautiful vision, that beautiful view."

Śrīdīp Nārāyaṇa Bhagavānakī, Śrī Śrīdeva Puruṣa Mahādevakī, Satguru Svāmī Mādhavānandījī Bhagavānakī, Satya Sanātandarāvakī. Oṁ Śānti, Śānti, Śānti. In reality, look at this whole park. Look left, right, back, front, below. Take the trees and all of this into your memory now, more consciously. Every tree, every branch. Now close your eyes and see the picture inside. How much can you see? All very clear, the reality. Now again, open your eyes and see what you couldn’t see, or if there were some obstacles. And again, close your eyes. This is the test: how much concentration do you have? How much visualization capacity do you have? It was not long ago; it was only two or three minutes ago. So, how will you imagine that beautiful vision here after six months? Seven months, nine months, until you will come back? You can open your eyes and support your hands on the ground behind you. Lean a little bit back to the side, and now look at the tree. Beautiful leaves, branches. All leaves have the same design. With the air moving, it’s alive. Bring your awareness, bring your concentration, to the whole—along the whole trunk of the tree, down to the earth. So from the top down to the ground, to the roots of this tree. Go to the trunk of the tree, along from the top of the tree, down, down, slowly, slowly, to the earth where the roots are going in. Similarly, now look normally. You didn’t see the roots; you didn’t imagine reality. You could have seen this. Okay, so this is exactly when you are doing your journey from the Mūlādhāra to the Sahasrāra Cakra. We see the branches, the limbs of the body, the organs in the body, the muscles in the body, and the nāḍīs, the nerves. This whole picture, when we see it, is like our body. This tree is like our self. It’s alive in the tree. This tree means a lot for us; it gives immense energy, oxygen, etc. It gives us a lot of energy, oxygen, and so on. Similarly, it is with our spine, from the Mūlādhāra Cakra to the top of the head. It is said that the brain has the roots, and the tree’s energy is also in the roots. But the roots of the tree are down in the earth, and our tree’s branches are up as a branch. Now imagine yourself in the mirror. Or imagine another person, your friend, standing in front of you. Close your eyes and imagine the whole body from top to down: the head, the hair, the forehead, the ears, the eyebrows, and the eyes; nose, nostrils, mouth, lips, the whole face, neck. So from the head to the neck, and the brain. How many limbs of the body outside could we see? Our shoulders. Like in Yoga Nidrā, what you are repeating, but here you are imagining sitting or standing. Now, the earth. The tree’s roots are in the soil because the tree is standing in the earth with its roots. So this tree is not movable; therefore, it is fixed in the earth, taking all the nutrition and water from the earth. Of course, it takes also from the air and some humidity, but mainly from the roots. Now, our body, or different animals, they are movable. They have a brain too. So that brain is nourished from the sky. All power, all capacity of life is in the brain. It is the brain which leads you where to go. And that is exactly the principle in the Kriyā. So in our Anuṣṭhāna technique, Yoga in Daily Life—these techniques which you are doing in this seminar—we have to get a connection to the forest, to the vegetation. We know that even the tree doesn’t speak to us in a language we can understand, but we like to come near the tree. How many creatures are living in the one tree? Some are so tiny that we can’t see them. Similarly, in our body, it’s not only one soul. Ātmā is different; ātmā is like emptiness, sky, only space. But in our body, it’s not only one soul. We have one, our big soul, but we have millions of other creatures in our body. Many bacteria, which are healthy bacteria. If you think that you should remove all other bacteria, you will die. They are working and supporting our immunity. So now, you are not the only one. You are not one soul, and you are not this one body. There are many who have bodies inside, but we can’t see them with our eyes sometimes. If you go to the laboratory and you look into the telescope, you will see everything. So now this earth is called living earth; that’s why we say living planet. So if our soul goes out, still some life is living with us in the body. It will take a long, long time. But maybe they will come to you in the next life. So you are not alone. You can purify all this and live healthily. So you have a friend. You are not lonely; you are not alone. You cannot say, "Well, nobody is there. I’m alone, boring." And they’re all inside, they say, "Why do you say this? Don’t lie. We are with you. And how many we are." This is like smoke. So many jīvas are in the body. That’s why life means life, and death is death. Likewise, when we take something good, we shall register it in our awareness, in our memory. And so when we go through this Kriyā—you have many, many different Kriyās, techniques in one day—also imaginations, Cakra Śodhana, or Cidākāśa Dhāraṇā. If you take this picture, sit down and see the tree exactly, even if it is winter, this vision of the tree will be with us. There in winter, there will be no more leaves. Now, this will be in our visions. Suddenly, there will be no leaves, and the dark wood will look like it is burned. And suddenly, snow comes. Can you imagine on this tree now snow? Yes, you must tell me, how much snow is that? It’s minus 25 degrees. Suddenly, it rains, and all the branches of these trees are coated with the snow, ice. It’s very heavy. Some branches break. See all the bushes. You can imagine how beautiful that is. Imagine that you walk through this snow, about half a meter of snow. Hard snow. It makes a nice sound, walking. Can you imagine? You feel this cracking of this little snow, which is half ice. Yes. Now, another vision you have. You have seen that: middle of the winter, a lot of snow, no wind, and a full moon. And full moon light is reflecting on the snow. And if your key falls down somewhere, you can see that’s my key. Can you imagine this picture? Did you walk through the snow in full moon light? If not, then I tell you something and let it break that time where half of the week it will be full of the snow, the full moon. And then you will go for a walk. How beautiful is that? That time you have very good air, minus 20. This year I was there, minus 23, 25. I tell you the reality. So I was walking from here to Ganga House and back, and when I was inhaling, my mustache was frozen, and when I exhaled, the warm air was melting it and the water was dropping. Again, inhale. Then it becomes more frozen because of the water we had. And all you have experiences. That nose, don’t make it like this, it will break. The tip of the nose is frozen. So likewise, whatever we have seen, beautiful or not beautiful, it remains in our memory. So we should forget unpleasant situations, and we should remember more what were the best things in your life. I was in Vancouver, it’s already, I think, 18 years or 2 years more. It was winter, and we went in the evening to the mountain. In Vancouver, you can go to the mountain where there is skiing and come down and swim in the ocean. So we went about 10 o’clock in the night, and there was one hotel, and the snow was about 15 meters, but they were cleaning the snow, and the snow was frozen, full moon. And we walked on it, like this here. And then we sat there. It was very cold. It was a low temperature. Thirty-five or something. I took our coat away. We sat on the snow. Because there was no wind, I had the photo lesson. So the memory which we keep good in our life is good for imagination for a yogī. And if you remember something unpleasant, that will destroy your meditation. So we forget it and remember all the beauty of the outer world. And that will go within us, and that will help us to meditate. You will see all the yogīs who are giving meditations. Nowadays, you can see on some Facebook pages. More or less, the same imagination they will give us. All the same, like a moon, the crescent moon, the new moon, what we see; water, the reflection of the water, the waves of the ocean; sunset on the part in the ocean, or sunrise, beautiful, beautiful. In the winter, it’s more beautiful, dawn. That’s it. So this is what you are doing in your Kriyā, afternoon, or in your Yoga Nidrā, or in your āsanas. Try to bring out from your awareness the beauty of your life. And if you practice, and when you practice Yoga Nidrā here in this area, the instructor should speak slowly. Otherwise, they hear tales in the Satsaṅg hall. And in my room also, I hear the good windows are. So it’s not too many people, I think about a hundred people. So lie down like in the moon. Half moon. And then the teacher should sit between; you don’t need a loudspeaker. Then I’m sure the teacher will also sleep. So these are the techniques for how to develop your meditation: the life experiences. There are many, many things, many, many good things, so many. Once I was walking on a very high wall. Very high, and one side was the rock and water. Can you tell me where it was? Big wall. No, no, I was not in China. I have only one desire for it. Name with a D. Dora. Yes or no? It’s not a beautiful wall. Who walked there? Can you tell me? Many, but few. We would like to go to make one seminar in Dubrovnik. It is a beautiful, ancient city. And 200 years or so, all the grapes are about 50 meters up, and then on the buildings, where you walk, you can see that nice, thick. Or we see the beautiful forest in Vancouver, Stanley Park, when you will see Stanley Park. You have to look like this. How high is the tree? And ten people have to hold hands, so there is beauty everywhere. Or when the first rain comes in the desert, after two or three days, that grey sand turns into a green carpet. And in about ten to fifteen days, it’s like a colorful carpet. So these are beautiful experiences. So when you cannot concentrate, you cannot meditate, then go to that beautiful vision, that beautiful view. So this evening, you will lead yourself. Of course, your instructor will give the instructions, but that is how we can live the whole year ourselves with those techniques of meditation. And so then it is said very nicely, "Hua Gurudev kā Darśana Milānā, O Tuyevsā." And there is also said in the park, in the garden. How beautiful blossoms, flowers, and how they open. And how beautiful, diamond, etc. In this bhajan, there is a beautiful bhajan. World’s you. So, wish you all the best. And Hari Om.
