Success in Yoga

Yoga and Āyurveda are universal sciences for harmony and the knowledge of life. Yoga is union, encompassing mental, spiritual, and ethical principles beyond physical exercise. Āyurveda is the science of life, focusing on quality of nourishment to prolong life. Impurities, or Vikāras, in body and mind—like negative thoughts and words—hinder progress. Ancient ṛṣis in the Himalayas exemplify purification and longevity. The nectar of immortality, brought as Āyurveda by Dhanvantari, exists in sacred places. Modern use often abuses these sciences, seeking quantity over the fine quality required. True practice demands following instructions precisely, not for taste or business. Yoga and Āyurveda together are wings for the soul, requiring daily integration, not occasional imitation. Liberation comes from self-effort, awakening inner awareness, and purifying oneself from all Vikāras.

"Death will not come in front of one who is a practitioner of yoga and Āyurveda."

"Āyurveda is not for your good taste or to eat like candy. It is a very fine quality."

We shall chant Oṁ all together, three times. The resonance of the Oṁ purifies the physical, mental, and spiritual energy. Three times deep inhale and exhale. Tri Krath Globib Dikhnite Enis Dikhnite. Malu Globib Dikhnite. Tri Krath Bummo Intonirali Oṁ. Naha Dīp Nārāyaṇa Bhagavānakī Dev Purīṣa Mahādevakī. Satguru Svāmī Mādhavānandajī Bhagavān kī Satya Sanātan Dharm kī Alakhpurījī. Mahādev kī Blessed Self, dear sisters and brothers, good evening and blessings to all of you. Very happy to see you. The subject is always one; that’s yoga. Yoga is the universal. It is declared one of the first and the best sciences for humans, the science of yoga. There are two: Yoga and Āyurveda. As we know that yoga means union, harmony, and balance. And Āyurveda, āyu means life. How long we can live, that declares the Āyurveda. Veda means the knowledge, the knowledge of life. The practitioners of yoga as well, who are the friends or the followers of Āyurveda, we can prolong our life. Definitely, death will go back. Death will not come in front of one who is a practitioner of yoga and Āyurveda. Yoga is not just the physical exercises. It’s mental, it’s spiritual, it’s ethical principles. It takes time to come to a certain level in life where we can prolong our life according to our wish. The evidence is this: the ṛṣis who still live in the Himalayas. Maybe in some different part of the world, they purify their body. Prechistio Telo. The Vikāras of this physical body and mental body. Vikāras means the impurities. There are different kinds of Vikāras: the physical, the mental, the emotional, the social, etc. The Vikāras means the impurities. Negative thinking is also a vikāra. Negative words using is also the vikāra. We cannot proceed ourselves towards immortality if we are filled with the vikāras. The power of the life span depends also on the nourishment. Nourishment means not the quantity but the quality. Āyurveda is as old as what we believe in the Satya Yuga. In the time of the Satya Yuga, the Asuras and Devas were churning the ocean in order to get immortality. The nectar, the fourteen ratnas, came out of the churning of the ocean. And finally came the nectar. That nectar is called Amṛta Kalasha, brought by Bhagavān Viṣṇu in the form of the Āyurvedas, Dhanvantari. Dhanvantari came out of the ocean with the pot of nectar. That nectar is still existing on our earth. The evidence is that what we call the four places where the Kumbha Melā takes place. That nectar was Dhanvantari, who introduced and brought Āyurveda. The universities, colleges, schools, practitioners, and Ayurvedīs all worship Dhanvantari. The three days before the festival of Dīvālī, Bhagavān Dhanvantari is worshipped. So it’s not the quantity but the quality. Many of you know, definitely you know, Oṁ Śrī Alakhpurījī’s cave in the Himalayas. And this year, about 160 to 170 people went with me to the Himalayas. And I told them they should not make the photos. And if they are doing it only for you individually, at home, to see the photos, so, it’s only for you. And when they came back to Europe, the next day, even they were not in Europe still, they put it on Facebook. He said that I didn’t do it only for one, but I did it for all. There they felt, they felt. They lost that energy which they should have preserved. Guru, we are here to understand and follow. It’s not easy. Our Swāmī Mahāmaṇḍaleśwar, Jasrāj, said the example is that one tells someone, "I tell you something, but don’t tell anyone." The next day, everyone knew, so they asked him, "I told you not to tell anyone." He said, "I did. I did not tell anyone. I tell everyone, that’s it, we lost." It means that word which you hear or see with your eyes, "Beseda ki jo slišite, ali to kar vidite," we cannot digest in our stomach. Our intense time is not strong enough, so it’s lost. Anyhow, you saw the cave of the Alakhpurījī? Last year I was also there. So in that holy place called Badrinath, the head priest of the temple told me, "There is one herb on the way where you will go, Swāmījī, and it is 3,650 meters in height." And we have a little difficulty with the oxygen. So he saw me, he told me, "Little herb, some booty, some grass." A herbal plant, and there is a very tiny pink flower that is just, you can say, half of the lemon tree’s flower. Lemon tree, you know? The flower of the lemon is little. And he said, "Half of that, and you take it in your mouth, just chew it like chewing gum, and you will have no problem with the oxygen." So I thought also our people should take the flowers. He said, "Don’t take too much, and don’t break the whole plant." But our people took all so much. When we were coming, we didn’t find anything more. So, our people could not digest the instructions. And that’s also the Āyurveda. It’s not a quantity; it is a quality. And Āyurveda is not for your good taste or to eat like candy. It has now become a big business, and they are using this just for eating as a test, like chocolate and candies. Then there will not be an effect on your body. Then that becomes like a normal nourishment. So, Āyurveda is a very fine quality. For example, the plant Tulasī, and the leaf of the Tulasī is just like a nail of our thumb or fingers. Only one leaf a day, take it. And only for 15 days, then wait 3 months more. And then take again, so this is the quality of the Tulasī plant. Now, what are people doing? They take whole branches of the Tulasī plant, dry them, make a powder, and put one spoon in your tea as a Tulasī tea. That has not that effect; maybe three to six percent. So Āyurveda has now opened; it’s like this flower. The unfoldment of each and every petal of this flower is opened in the whole world. Āyurveda, Āyurveda. But again, people are not using it, but they are abusing it. So, definitely in your country, there are many practitioners of Āyurveda. We have the Yoga in Daily Life Āyurveda Academy. And they are learning this, what I am telling. But there are also many in Slovenia, many good, learned Ayurvedic practitioners. Similarly, yoga is not for competitions or challenges. But yoga is something of very fine quality. For body, for energy, for mind, for consciousness, for the soul, etc. It doesn’t cost you anything. Just take some time and practice every day. So, Āyurveda will give you the remedy, and yoga teachers will give you that kind of exercise or practice of yoga. We call that, if you are just imitating to practice yoga, then you will not gain good health. Maybe you will get more disease. So, in Āyurveda or in allopathic too, the doctor will give you the doses accordingly. For example, a doctor gives you one tablet for sleeping. And this tablet is a little bit sweet. So you think that you will take the handful because it’s sweet. Definitely, it will affect. That is called eternal, immortal, forever sleep. Therefore, one has to follow. So, the doctor said, "If you help me, I help you." But we don’t follow. So, yoga, especially in this country, is yoga in daily life. It’s not that I’m telling only our system, but it is the system for all. It is not the system of Maheśvarānanda, nor is it the system of Vasiṣṭha or Dayālpuri. It is a yogic system, and if we do it systematically, definitely you will gain good health—physical, emotional, mental, etc. Well, why did the ṛṣis do such a practice? For two things. To give the blessing to this world, our world is still existing. From time to time, some disaster happens, but still we are happy. And this is because of the holy saints who are in the whole world, living somewhere. Maybe, who knows, in Slovenia there must be, I think, about 200 or 300 saints. They never demonstrate. They always remain separate. They don’t make any competitions. They are not going for any kind of elections. Yes. You see, whether the election, political election, or in the college or university, or anywhere, then you know how much they are working very hard to elect him or her. Why? Because they want to do something good for the people. They do something good for the country by protecting the environment. They do very hard work, but there are always two Śaktis. And if the Asurīyaṁ and Devīk Śakti come together, there will definitely be a fight. One fights for good things, and one fights for negative things. Similarly, there are some great saints. They know they don’t want to come in the front. They don’t want to sit together. They are somewhere very simple. But their blessing is that we are surviving. So, there are many beautiful mountains, beautiful forests, many beautiful lakes and islands, there are some divine, immortal souls existing, living there, even though we can’t see them. But they are looking after us. When I came to Europe, someone was telling me something, and I did not understand. But that was a different meaning than the ṛṣis, the yogīs. They said to me, "Swāmījī, take care. The big brothers are watching." I said that’s good. All these big brothers, I’m proud of having a big brother. But then someone told me the meaning. Because we don’t have that in India, fortunately. So similarly, there are ṛṣis, yogīs, who are observing us. Only they are giving blessings, nothing else. So they exist for all creatures on this earth. Also for the vegetation, the trees, and all the five elements, but now we are disbalancing our nature. We are breaking the mountains. You see how many highways we have. And we are very happy. Oh, beautiful road, highway, very good. How many hundreds, thousands, or millions of kilometers of concrete are made on the earth? That part of the earth can’t breathe anymore, and most pollution is coming from the highways, this asphalt, these concrete roads. Well, second, how much forest is destroyed? In Brazil, there is a large number of kilometers of what you call the rain forest. And some greedy person begins to influence other people that there is no use for the rainforest. Only creating more and more bugs, reptilians. This is, etc. We shall clean up this rainforest and put the other kind of trees, commercial trees, and so they take all the beautiful rainforest away, and they are putting in trees like eucalyptus trees, like in Australia. Like eucalyptus trees, like in Australia, because they use the wood. Because they use the wood, but it damages the environment very much. But it damages the environment very much. And also in Europe, how much forest is cut off... So we are destroying, disbalancing. But still, the great ṛṣis, the holy saints, wherever they are, on the earth or in the astral form, they are blessing and taking care of us. When you practice meditation, when you practice your mantras, you are practicing spirituality. When you are sleeping deeply, I am sure you will feel that in that time, when you are sleeping, that astral soul or the body of the great saints comes and smiles, like a mother or a father who has gotten a new child. They are watching how sweetly the child is sleeping. And they put a soft blanket on the child. Similarly, the protection of the blanket is giving you that great, holy sense. They are beyond the religions. It doesn’t matter which religion it is. Those spiritual practitioners are above religion. And I am sure, even if you practice or not, there is no duality. No duality, like Śaṅkarācārya said, not a dvaita but a dvaita, and our Holy Gurujī used to say, one in all and all in one, so when someone achieves spirituality, through tan, man, and bachan—body, mind, and words—one becomes a holy person. That is the beginning, just the beginning. A long time, a long time. That is then what we call Guru Kṛpāhi Kevalam. We need that blessing, the mercy of the Gurudeva. There are not only one or two Gurus. There are many whom we cannot realize. But from their heart and from their brain, the divine protection and blessing are flowing over us, like when it’s very hot, a nice, cool air is coming. But what I said before, the vikāra, vikāra whose mind and thoughts, that will only go down, it will not come up. Jealousy, hate, conflict, anger, greed, etc., negative talking, backbiting—these are vikāras. And now you should know if you have vikāras or purities. Are you jealous? I don’t ask you to say yes. Or I don’t want you to say no. This is something between your heart and my heart. Are you greedy? Are you angry? Etc. So give judgment to thyself, don’t give judgment to somebody else. And therefore, these two subjects, what I call Āyurveda and Yoga. Practicing physical exercises and prānāyāmas, concentration, mantras, and, of course, meditations. It is not that you need a lot of time, no. It is 24 hours, and that’s what we call yoga in daily life. Why didn’t we write occasionally yoga? So it doesn’t function occasionally. So we become a yogī, we become a yogī even when we are thinking and aware about what is called yoga in daily life. So it is in your hands. It is you who can liberate thyself. Only the master can show you the path. Or when you can’t swim, that master will hold your hand. Ultimately, we have to go. We have to go on that path. But there is a lot of vikṣepa. Vikṣepa means troubles, difficulties, many, many problems, and the, what I said, negative qualities. We have to liberate ourselves. Do not depend on someone. Don’t say, "OK, Mahāprabhujī will do everything, I don’t need to do anything." He will say, "Why?" Why? It doesn’t matter where you are, it’s okay, it’s your things. You go down or up. But if you will do something, then Mahāprabhujī said, "Oh, this is an awakened person." That’s it. Chetan means awakened. And who is not cetan, sleeping and losing all qualities? Always be aware. We shall awaken the awareness within ourselves. Through that awareness, our concentration will develop. And we will become alert. It is the awareness which will make us alert. Our consciousness will awaken. Then our willpower in our body will become strong. So everything is within our body. Everything. What you call that, "I want to realize God," is also in you. Self-realization is in you. Everything is in this beautiful body of the human. And humans should protect the other creatures and support them to come to the other life. So this human life is very precious, and time is passing. Take it, use it, or lose it. So awake, awake, awake. We will do, in these two or three days, the meditation sub-techniques still, but don’t think this is enough. And every day is a new day. This day is last, the day is past, but tomorrow is ready for us. And definitely tomorrow the sun will rise for us, and so that light and willpower will awaken in us. Get it, use it, don’t lose it. So, Yoga and Āyurveda, these are the two wings for this Ātmā. To fly to the Brahma Loka, heaven is just like one country. Yes, but we want to have it without any border. And that is called Brahma Loka. So, I am very happy to see you. And we will sing some bhajans, and we will practice and talk more tomorrow. I’m very happy to see you. Time passes very quickly. That was already a few years ago that I was not in Ljubljana or in the Kranj. But when we are here, just like it was yesterday, because our relations, our connections were as a unity, as oneness. So, I’m happy to see you. Deep Nārāyaṇa Bhagavānakī, Dev Purīśamadevakī, Satguru Svāmī Madhavānandajī Bhagavānakī, Oṁ Śānti, Śānti, Śānti.
