Work for the Earth

The greatest happiness in life is the subject this weekend.

The bees are disappearing; across Europe, 70% have vanished, and this is human doing. Scientists' research is not beneficial; they should return to yoga and meditation. Technological development and nature's destruction have removed happiness from your lives. Self-examination is necessary: close your eyes and imagine a blackboard. Write honestly your jealousy, hatred, pride, anger, and negative thinking. The blackboard fills with these qualities, blocking true happiness. A story tells of a merchant who refused water, saying someone will come; the thirsty man asked, “Can you become a man for a while?” Do not wait for others; take action yourself to change. Until you erase all negative qualities from the blackboard, you will not achieve what you seek. A bhajan pleads, O Lord, I surrender all burdens, victory and loss are in Your hands. It asks to live like a lotus in water, unattached. Faith in God is demonstrated when a principal rang a lunch bell with no food, and a truck unexpectedly delivered meals. Trust in divine provision, without doubt. Reduce plastic; make cotton bags from used cloth, avoid plastic and aluminum. Use natural herbs for washing; collect and dry them, replace chemical products. Be like a bee that extracts nectar even from thorny plants, giving sweetness to others.

“Renounce and enjoy. Renounce your pride—in whatever way you are proud.”

“Be like a bee. That bee, even from a poisonous cactus, will bring nectar.”

Śrī Dīp Nārāyaṇa Bhagavānakī, Devādhi Deva, Deveśvara Mahādevakī, Satguru Svāmī Madhavānandajī Bhagavānakī, Alakhpurījī Mahādevakī.... Good morning. I think the day of the bee is very soon. And you remember, on the occasion of Guru Pūrṇimā and my birthday at Strilky Āśram in the Czech Republic, we announced that we would protect the bees. We have already declared our commitment to protecting the bees. We are saving the bees. Unfortunately, the time has come, and indeed, the bees are disappearing. This year, across Europe and in many other countries like India, in some areas, 70% of bees have disappeared. For example, in Strilky, we have hundreds of fruit trees. And they were blooming profusely. But there was no beautiful sound of Brāhmī Prāṇāyāma. When you approached the almond trees, the cherry trees, the apple trees, there was no beautiful humming. The primary remedy in naturopathy or Āyurveda is honey, and we know how valuable the honey of our bees is. And we all know the value of honey. We only read about bees on paper now. And this is the doing of humans. In this regard, whatever research all these scientists are conducting is not beneficial. We should multiply and foster good health in our nature. Due to the manipulation of seeds and fruits, etc., they cannot be regrown; you have to buy seeds. They can only grow once. And the result of this is that humans can no longer have many children now—only one or two. And if a woman becomes pregnant, the child is perhaps 80% likely to be disabled. Although there are world organizations, we all should still do something. Now you have in your hands a beautiful instrument. We call it an iPhone or something like this. Many of you have Facebook, social media, and the like. Every day, each one of us writes more about this distraction of human life and other such things. Don’t think that we can’t do anything. At least we will appear in stories, in history, because there were those people who raised their voices, wrote, suggested, and spoke, saying that we should not destroy this earth. So, what is the greatest happiness for us, the subject we have this weekend? The topic of this weekend seminar is what is most important to us in life, what is the greatest happiness in life. We no longer have happiness due to the actions of humans, the so-called scientists. Scientists should return to yoga, practice, meditate, practice mantras, and consider our body, mind, and soul. Because of technological development and the destruction of nature and people, we no longer have happiness. This happiness has disappeared from our lives. Those who develop technology would have to return to the roots, to yoga, to mantras. And such educational centers that are conducting experiments on how to destroy this—our nature and humans. In every aspect, if I ask you, are you happy? Or what is happiness for you? We are completely ruined. We don’t have families. We don’t have proper partners. We have no education for our children. The children are beyond your control. So what can I tell you? What is happiness in life? So please try. Try. We are hundreds, thousands of people. So, how many thousands of people—what percentage—practice yoga in their lives in Slovenia? And we can, you can bring about a change in your country in a positive way for your people, for your vegetation, for your forests, and for your education, etc. Otherwise, humans will be lost, living like deer scattered about. You will think, “Yes, I had a child, but I don’t know where it is.” So, the happiness in our lives is to see our world healthy, peaceful, harmonious, understanding, and full of brotherhood. The world has become a small village, and we have all the information. What is happening in China, in Afghanistan, in Africa, in Mexico, in America, in India, in Europe—we know everything. And if anything happens to one human, we feel pain in our hearts. So it is said, a very ancient slogan: Vasudhaiva Kuṭumbakam, the whole world is one family of God. We are all children, or generations, of the great ṛṣis. We are the one seed, and that is Svayambhū. We have to think for ourselves. How many of us are sitting here? I’m sure there are many who have jealousy, ego, conflict, and pride. How will we change this situation? What I’m telling you today... We offer love and respect even to the one you consider an adversary. It’s very hard. How will we change this humanity, these humans? That’s it. Close your eyes. Please, everybody, close your eyes. And in front of you is a blackboard. Imagine... a blackboard. And write on your blackboard with a white pencil. Please be honest. Be honest with yourself. For a while, become human. And write down how much jealousy you have. How many people do you hate? How much pride you have—selfishness, anger, cruelty, negative thinking. Please be honest. And if you are not honest, then write that too: “I am not honest.” I give you time. You are sitting in a university area, and this university is not only for Slovakia; it is for the entire universe. So, write, write, and tell that to God. Today, I bring this to my Lord: I am this. I will tell you one story. Go ahead, write on the blackboard. If you can’t write on the blackboard, then I will ask you one question: When a zebra is born, which is painted first, black or white? Tell me, did you write the white or the black? I will tell you the story. You go ahead writing on your blackboard, or on the white, you can write in black. There was once a merchant. It was lunchtime. The merchant had a big shop—a fabric shop. It was a very hot summer, and the merchant was sitting on his sofa. He was the boss, a rich man, and at the entrance of his building, he had a water pot with a glass. A street worker came and asked the merchant, “Sir, can you give me water? I am very thirsty.” The merchant said, “Wait a while. Someone will come and give you water.” After five minutes, the thirsty man said, “Sir, I’m so thirsty, I’m crying; I will die from this. Can you give me water, please?” The merchant said, “Wait, someone will come.” After a few more minutes, the thirsty man said, “Sir, I am dying of thirst.” The merchant said, “Yes, a man will come.” Then the thirsty man said, “Sir, can you become a man for a while?” And so it is. If we say it, someone will do it. Someone will do it. I have no time. And so it is: if we say, “Someone will do it; I can’t, I don’t have time, but someone will do it,” then you have no more room to write on the blackboard. Because the entire blackboard is full of those negative qualities. And this means: first you have to remove those qualities, and then you will come to know what happiness is or what a good life is. Many, many yogīs and ṛṣis lived in caves. And when someone came and spoke an unkind word, the yogī sitting in the cave would become very angry. So there is no difference between that cave and a university. If you have not learned how to save the world—our water is polluted, our rivers are polluted, lakes are polluted, and our groundwater is completely polluted with pesticides. You know how many people have cancer, and cancer attacks the very fragile organs of your body, not the muscles, but some organs that are very important. And that is targeted by those chemical substances to destroy the world, humans, and everything. Where there is a will, there is a way, and we will do it. We shall work for the protection and salvation of our world. But you cannot. You cannot. Now look at your blackboard, please. Honestly, read what you have written there. There is a beautiful bhajan that I will tell you about later. Bhakti Devī from Vienna and Nṛsiṃha Purī from Slovenia will come and sing this bhajan, which I will tell you about afterwards. Please read your blackboard. When you read this blackboard with white letters, until you erase all of it, you will not achieve what you want to achieve in this world. That’s why Gandhijī said, as I told you yesterday, “Renounce and enjoy.” Renounce and enjoy. Renounce your pride—in whatever way you are proud. Jag meṁ raho to aisā raho, jo jal meṁ kamal kā phūl rahe. My teachings, my mission, my aim is to bring the message of our spiritual lineages. That’s all I can give you. If you can walk on this path, then you can save the world and turn it in a beautiful new direction. We are many; I am not alone. So, very good. Please open your eyes. Your blackboard is no longer black; it is white. The bhajan I meant was different, but what they sang was also good. I told you, the bhajan is different. Mr. Samayana Ghatrughi, ab saup diyā is jīvan kā sambhav. O Merciful One, now I surrender myself into Your hands. My victory, whether I am a loser or a winner, is in Your hands. If I am a winner, it is in Your hands. And for us, “winner” means mokṣa, Brahmaloka. And if I fail, it is also in Your hands. My Lord, if I live in this world, then let me live like a lotus in the water. So this bhajan is so beautiful. Whenever negative waves arise and anger suddenly comes out—anger is the thief that will steal everything from you at the door. Therefore, whenever I come into this world, into this saṃsāra, I am a prisoner of this saṃsāra. But saṃsāra is in Your hands. You can liberate me. This is the awakening of the longing for Thee, O my Lord. The only difference between You and me is this: I am a human, and You are God. And my life is in Your hands. This bhajan is so beautiful. So, ab saump diyā iz jīvan kā sab bhār tomāre hāthome, O my Lord, I surrender all the burden of this life into Your hands. My victory or my loss is now in Your hands. With this, we declare: “We will save our beautiful bees, the honeybees.” Sometimes a mother says to her children, “My honey child.” And sometimes between husband and wife—who said what? I don’t know who said, “Husband says, no?” “My honey.” The wife says, “Honey,” and the man says, “Beer.” Is there a difference between beer and honey? Yes, there is. So, wherever we go and whatever we read, we should read good books, seek good company, associate with good people, and love animals. Touch the trees and love the trees. This means we are like a bee that goes to every flower to gather nectar. And we gather nectar from all the Holy Scriptures—the satsaṅgs, the good people, protecting the forests, the water, everything. In the morning, when you wake up and first go to the bathroom, you open the water tap and touch the water. Feel it—how beautiful and gentle the feeling is. Then take a handful of water and splash it on your face. There are only two such moments: either when your mother is breastfeeding and touching the baby’s face, or when this beautiful water touches your face. Only these two. So we can create within us that kind of honey. It will always be sweet in the world for everyone. It is said: be like a bee. That bee, even from a poisonous cactus, will bring nectar. So some people are like thorny, poisonous plants. But when you approach such a person, bring only sweetness, not bitterness. We have to walk that path. There are so many thorns on a cactus, and the flowers are hidden beneath them. How carefully a bee will navigate through the thorns to get that nectar. And the honeybee is so happy, yet it does not eat or drink the honey itself; it gives to others. So many babies are fed. That’s it, do you understand? So, what is the joy of life? What is the beauty of life? What is the happiness of life? To attain this, we have to walk that path—up to the next bhajan. Śrī Dīp Nārāyaṇa Bhagavān, Kī Jai, Oṁ Śrī Alakh Purī Jī, Śrī Dīp Paramparā, Vahana Gyī. So, sound is a therapy, and light is also a therapy. Sounds vary: some harmonize and awaken certain energies in the body, while others are disturbing. Long ago, there was a man who was very ill. He was in America. It might have been cancer, but at that time, it was not diagnosed as such. So he wondered, “How can I heal myself?” Someone told him, “There is a country called India, Bhārat.” And there are sādhus, gurus, or saints. It is said that through their blessings or touch, they can cure. So he and his wife began the journey to India by ferry, as there were no airplanes at that time. They came to India—I don’t know from where—but that person was completely healed. Through singing bhajans, kīrtans, prayers, and completely positive thinking, he became very spiritual. He became a believer and returned to America. Then he established a society, an NGO, for the healing of illnesses. Many people came. There were many people—a few hundred, or perhaps a hundred. I’m not sure. But they had a charity organization. People would bring money and so on. It was an āśram. One day, the principal of the school came to that man—Gurujī knew his name well, but I’ve forgotten it. The principal said, “Sir, lunchtime is in three hours, and we have nothing in our kitchen—no fruits, nothing.” That person who had been to India had learned these mantras, these bhajans, and faith—trust. So he asked, “What time is lunch?” At twelve o’clock? So he said, “Ring the bell at twelve. The children and people will come to the dining hall.” But the principal protested, “We have nothing! Master Gurudev, I told you, we have nothing—we can’t even make soup.” So he went into his meditation cave and said, “Fifteen minutes before twelve, ring the bell. Do not disturb me.” And he went back inside. Yes, Gurudev said, Swamiji said, but the principal didn’t understand. We have nothing, and we are ringing the bell? At a quarter to twelve, the lunch bell rang. People came, children came. They always had their own pots. They came and sat in the dining room. The principal was nervous. What happened? Then a big truck arrived. At ten minutes to twelve—we don’t know whose truck it was—the driver came to the āśram and called for the principal. “Sir, I have a great request. We had a big conference for about 500 people, but due to some problems—we don’t know why—the conference was cancelled, but the food was already prepared. What to do? Someone said, ‘Send it to that NGO.’ So they loaded up pre-packed lunches.” “Please, can you accept this?” The principal said, “Gladly.” So, from the back of the kitchen, the food was delivered, and everyone received the best food—many, many varieties. Like the food you had here in the kitchen today and yesterday. I was tempted, so I told Dada, “Don’t cook anymore; I will go there.” People ate, and still a lot of food remained. They could eat again the next day. The principal went to the cave. Gurujī asked, “What? Did the children eat enough?” The principal replied, “Can I bring something for you?” That’s it. So it is said: man proposes, God disposes. Trust in God. Zaupajte Bogu. And so, the power of spiritual songs, beautiful instruments, and positive sāttvic food can heal many diseases. But faith—only faith. If you don’t trust, if you have doubt, then you are out. Without any permission, you are out. So, we can do bhajans. Let us have bhajans once a week in our centers and āśrams—no discussions, no idle talk, no jealousy, no hate. And also have on your devices that you can always listen to this whenever you have time. So sound, color, and environment. Now we shall try—we don’t promise, but we should try—and we can try to reduce plastic items. Take all your used cloth, your bed sheets, etc., wash them nicely, listen to your bhajans, and make some bags—small bags, bigger bags, even bigger bags... A very good strong bag can be made from your jeans. You just have to sew it on the bottom and top, and make a handle to hang it. So when you go shopping, please don’t say, “Can I have a plastic bag?” We should say, “Can I have a cotton bag or a paper bag?” But many times, out of habit, we ask, “Can I have a plastic bag?” So this is our first step. Also, try not to use chemical products in your kitchen, your bathroom, or your laundry. There are different kinds of natural washing powders, like neem powder. If you use real neem powder, just take a little and apply it to your body. You will smell like a fresh neem tree, have no infections, and your skin will become so beautiful. So try to do this, and you also have many, many things here in your country. Now is the time to collect many, many herbs. Dry them, powder them, and store the powder in a glass bottle. One spoon of dry powder... Add it to one litre of water, and in the morning, give it to everyone to use—a litre for you, a litre for you, a litre for you. Wash yourself with this water, and you will smell the lovely fragrance of the herbs. You have so many herbs in Croatia and Slovenia. God has given you such beautiful soil. So let’s begin to restore a healthy environment in nature. So, what is the happiness of life? The blackboard must become completely white. And use all used cotton and other fabrics for our bags. But sometimes we cannot avoid plastic. You know that person from Adelaide, the father—what was his name? David. David. We said no to plastic. And the premier of Adelaide distributed cotton bags throughout the entire city, and also in Sydney, and so on. One day, Father David telephoned me. He said, “Swamiji, I can’t say no to plastic.” I asked, “Why?” He said, “Because I have an operation in my stomach, and I have a plastic implant.” So now there is plastic in my stomach. Many parts of an aeroplane are plastic, so there are plastics that can last longer. But we should not overlook these small, small things. And don’t use any kind of... with aluminum. Not in aluminum. Yes, also not in aluminum. Aluminum is more dangerous than plastic. So please don’t wrap anything in aluminum. It is a heavy metal. So let’s take one step today: we will give up all these harmful things. And keep writing, writing... “I have cancer—this is because of this.” Do you have cancer because of this? Do you have prostate problems because of this? Do you have female problems because of this? You ate fish, you ate chicken, you ate this—fill the whole Google with it. Yes, fill all of Google with it. Start a revolution. Let’s make a revolution for our dear beings. That’s it. Then what shall we do? What should we do? Devadhī Dev, Deveśvara Mahādeva, Kī Jai, Śatguru Svāmī Madhavānandajī Bhagavān, Kī Jai, Alakhpurījī Mahādeva, Kī Jai, Satya Sanātana Dharma, Kī Jai, Oṁ Śānti, Śānti.
