Do not waste your time

Overcoming fear and practicing sādhanā in the shelter of Satguru is the teaching.

All in this hall are equally receiving the blessings of the holy ones. Absorb spiritual energy like bathing in a divine ocean. Leave worldly gossip outside. These days purify qualities unconducive to spirituality. Fear must be cast out. Ghosts and magic do not exist. Astrology is only mathematics; do not let planetary positions frighten you. A boy captured by a ghost learned from God that he was protected. He beat the ghost and walked free. No one can liberate another in ten days. Such promises are empty. Live normally, love your parents and friends, do your job, practice mantra and kriyās. One day you will reach Brahmaloka. The Guru protects always. Eat well, practice yoga, and the body will be fine. Do not worry about bones disappearing; it is natural.

"There is no ghost, no magic; no one can attack you with magic."

"Terī Satguru Rākhelāj—the Gurudev will protect us."

I bow to the merciful, universally worshipped Bhagavān Śrī Dīp Nārāyaṇ Mahāprabhujī, the Devādhideva, the God of gods, Śrī Devpurījī, and Param Satguru Dev, Indra Dharma Samrāṭ, Satguru Svāmī Madhavānandjī Bhagavān. He is Śiva Svarūpa, Svayaṁ Śiva himself. The embodiment of Śiva is Alakhpurījī. We salute our paramparā; we worship, pray, and honor you. We have come to your shelter to perform sādhanā in your refuge, what we call Kriyānuṣṭhāna. Even those who are not in the Kriyānuṣṭhāna will engage in similar practices that yield the same benefit. Our sādhanā is spiritual and mental, not merely physical. So, if someone finds it difficult to sit in anuṣṭhāna, they should practice in another group, another class. Imagine you are going to a swimming pool—a vast one, like the Adriatic coast. When you jump into the water, everyone feels the water equally. Everyone shares the joy of the water. Some cannot swim, so they remain in the water up to their navel. In the same way, this swimming pool or ocean coast is our retreat, our seminar. Under the shelter of this large hall, we are all equally present here. The blessings of our Holy Saints and Gurudevs are equally showering upon all. We are all within His—or Their—center. Now, if you choose to jump out of the water, that is your choice. Then you will not experience it. We must realize that we are here to bathe in this spiritual swimming pool. The entire area of this college is our coast. So, no matter where you are, you should feel the divine atmosphere. Otherwise, you know what Bhagavān Śrī Dīp Nārāyaṇ Mahāprabhujī has written in the Vijñāna Dīpa Gītā. We have often given this example: A spoon stays in a jar of honey, even for a whole year, but that spoon cannot taste the honey’s sweetness. Similarly, those who cannot absorb that spiritual energy, the spiritual vajras, the words of the Gurudev, they do not taste the honey, the nectar of immortality. Throughout the year, you move in different societies, environments, atmospheres, and situations that are worldly. Here you come to purify once again all those qualities that are not conducive to spirituality. Time does not wait for anyone, and karma will not lead anyone out. So, these few days we are here to try to absorb more spiritual energy. Of course, we are all spiritual brothers and sisters, husbands and wives, and friends. We only have rare moments to talk with one another. But let us not gossip—asking, “How is it with your husband? Why did he go away and why isn’t he coming anymore?” These are worldly matters. What answer should you give? Just let him be in peace. So stick to spiritual topics. This is how we will spend these few days of our retreat, or seminar. I welcome you and wish you all the best. I pray to our almighty Mahāprabhujī, Devpurījī, Holy Gurujī, and Alakhpurījī, Siddha Pīṭha. One thing you must give up: fear. If you have fear, you are lost. No one should make you frightened. Some things, okay… Someone told me just now, “Ah, Swāmījī, finally I am out of the Maṅgala Graha.” Maṅgala—which planet? Mars. So, “The atmosphere of Mars, which was with me, is gone.” But that influence is on the whole world, not just on you. And not only Jupiter is gone, he is also there. So don’t take it so deeply to heart. Holī Gurujī wrote a very beautiful bhajan. You know it; it is very good. So, do not let yourself grow weak because of horoscopes, Jyotiṣa, astrology. It is just mathematics, that’s all. Once, someone asked Holy Gurujī, “Gurujī, is today not good for travel?” Gurujī said, “Okay.” “Tomorrow?” “Also not good.” So Holī Gurujī said, “I know why. Because you want me to stay here two or three days. The constellation is not good.” Gurujī then said, “At the same time every day, the train leaves from this station. Why doesn’t the train tell people, ‘Today I will not go’? All the traffic jams—that’s a bad constellation. Yet every day trucks are moving, trains are running, aeroplanes are flying. Why have they not collided?” So, it is all mathematical; that’s all. Secondly, I tell you, there is no ghost, no magic; no one can attack you with magic. Someone told Gurujī, “Gurujī, I have so much power. I have magic powers; I can bring anyone under my control.” Long ago, Gurujī answered, “That’s great! Then please take Indira Gandhi under your power. If you have this power, then our respected Prime Minister Indira Gandhi—just use your magic and she will become confused. Why do you attack some poor, innocent person?” Finished. There was a small village like Vip. A school was far away, like Sombathay, nestled among small hills. Children walked to school. Nowadays, your children don’t even want to walk half a kilometer; they want to go by car or motorcycle. People sitting here who are fifty, seventy, eighty years old used to walk several kilometers. That’s why they are still seventy, eighty years old. We’ll see how far the new generation can go. From this village, about fifty or sixty children used to go. There was a little hill, and the parents told them, “Come home quickly after school. Don’t stop anywhere.” Parents were worried, and someone said, “Come quickly, because in winter it gets dark early and a ghost may come. A ghost lives in that hill, so children should come home fast.” But when you say “ghost,” everyone gets frightened. You have fear inside you. This fear, you must cast out. Even if a ghost comes, just say, “Come on!” He will run away. Sometimes people play tricks; they hide somewhere and make a sound, and your hair stands on end. There is no ghost. Well, one day, a naughty boy stayed behind a little to eat ice cream. Then it got dark, and a ghost came. It grabbed him, took him into a cave, and sealed the entrance with a boulder. The boy was very sad. The ghost said, “Well, you are a good boy, so I will not eat you. But you will do my work. Every day, clean my cave, cook, everything. That’s why most people can cook. And whoever cannot cook—one day a ghost will come, so learn cooking quickly! Even the ghost that comes will become your friend. Otherwise, the ghost will eat you raw, because sometimes they eat raw. So, whoever cannot cook will be eaten raw.” The ghost used to go out, pushing the rock back each time. The boy couldn’t move the rock. One day, the boy asked, “Where do you go every day?” The ghost replied, “There is a parliament. A parliament meeting of God—a political party of ghosts, devas, and bhaktas. The president is God. God makes judgments.” The boy said, “Please ask God, ‘How long will I live?’” The ghost promised to ask. He asked God, “There is a very nice, innocent child. I don’t want to kill or frighten him. But he wants to know how long he will live.” God said, “117 years.” The ghost returned and told the boy. The boy exclaimed, “117 years! Must I stay here so long? Please, go and ask God if He can reduce my lifespan.” Again the ghost asked, and God said, “No. It is fixed. And if someone tries to kill him, that person will be killed.” So the boy became a good friend of the ghost. One day, the cave’s stone entrance was left slightly open. The ghost was very tired and hungry. He sat down and said, “Oh, please give me something good to eat.” The boy was cooking with a long, burning piece of wood. Seizing the opportunity, he grabbed the long stick and began beating the ghost. The ghost cried, “Please don’t! Please don’t!” The boy said, “You cannot kill me.” The ghost pleaded, “Go away, go away.” The boy said, “No, I will first kill you.” The ghost cried, “No, no, my life is very short…!” And the boy walked away. So, this means there is no ghost. It is only fear. You have a good life; you have a long life. As long as you have life, no one can do anything to you. But suddenly someone says, “In your horoscope, I see you sometimes have pain here, below your stomach.” Who doesn’t have that sometimes? Or it attacks your back. They say, “Yes, I can’t get up in the morning.” “Sometimes you are disappointed.” “Yes, very much.” Then they claim, “This is all magic. Now I have a magic stick. I will put it on you—go left, go right—this and that. Now, don’t believe anyone, otherwise you will be killed. Now you are under my power.” So, this belief but non-belief. If anyone says, “I will liberate you; I will give you mokṣa, I will give you self-realization,” the answer is yes and no. Yes means at the end of life; no means you will not get anything your whole life. No one can give it. Can you tell me anyone? Someone may say, “I will give you this, and I will give you one mālā, and your kuṇḍalinī will rise.” My kuṇḍalinī is always up. My kuṇḍalinī is very peaceful. I think your kuṇḍalinī is restless. Therefore, I tell you the truth. No one can liberate you like that in ten days, twenty days. One person told me his father was very ill with cancer. An astrologer said, “If you give me five million dollars, I will save your father.” He gave the money, and on the third day the father died. The man complained, “My father died!” The astrologer replied, “Of course. Of course. I liberated him.” That’s it. So, please don’t fall for such things. Be relaxed, live very normally. Love your parents, your friends, do your job, practice your mantra, your kriyās, and one day we will be in Brahmaloka. Gurujī protects you. Mahāprabhujī protects you. Our paramparā, the Siddha paramparā, protects us. It doesn’t matter what happens; in life, something is always happening. In our bodies, something is happening every day. And you don’t know what is happening. I was surprised today. This little girl—the one from Paris—she is my good friend only when I show her my telephone. She always watches cats and dogs. Omapurī was with her today; he took over from me. There was a scale of the human body showing that at birth a person has so many bones, and when they die, there are many fewer. So I ask you, to whom did you give your bones? Where have your bones disappeared? How many bones disappeared? We have to ask the doctors. Ninety-four doctors. I thought ninety-four doctors disappeared. Well, I don’t know, but someone said that if you drink black tea, you put a bone in the knee—black tea. Over time, the bones give way. Certain diets—alcohol, coffee, tea, etc.—make things soft, and many bones disappear. It doesn’t matter. It is said, one stick is for one person to walk with. But if it’s a hundred people’s stick and one person has to carry it, that’s too much. So our bones are like muscles. The kidneys or the liver will one day disappear. Don’t worry. Let the bones melt. No, no, no. I practice yoga. I eat vegetarian. I eat very good fruits. I eat nuts. I take at least two teaspoons of turmeric every day. I eat those spices that my Master eats. And then you see the Master’s bones; nothing has disappeared. Maybe some have grown! So the ones that are born grow in my body. You won’t believe it—a bone grew in my body. I called the doctors, and they gave me treatment. Do you know where it grew? Under my heel. So, growing, coming, going. One day we will go. But don’t worry. Terī Satguru Rākhelāj—the Gurudev protects us. Terī Satguru Rākhelāj—the Gurudev will protect us. Satgurudeva kī. There is one yogī, you know, many people know him—his name is Rāmdev. Who knows Yogī Rāmdev? Please raise your hand. My God, we give him long life. There was a conference about astrology, and everyone talked about Saturn—that you should wear an iron ring and do this and that. He said, “Let him fall down. Why is he always frightening the Indians? Why doesn’t Satan frighten the Pakistanis?” Yeah, because Saturn is a little bit closer to this side. Or he said, “Bring it to me. This is only frightening.” There are certain constellations, but not in that way. Satguru Svāmī Madhavānandjī Bhagavān Kī Alakhpurījī Mahādev Om.
