We are here to learn more

The gathering welcomes distinguished guests and emphasizes the shared pursuit of knowledge through yoga, which transcends physical practice to harmonize the mortal body and immortal soul.

We honor our lineage and welcome all present, including a renowned scholar of the Vedas. Human intellect is superior but requires teaching. Despite societal influences, few understand all humanity. We must concentrate on the Jīvātmā. Yoga is the supreme science for humans, extending beyond postures and breath. This work has spread globally over decades, with seeds now sprouting. The path requires selfless surrender. A seed must bury itself and forget its own life to become a tree that bears fruit for society. Our dialogue aims to elevate life through understanding karma and our true nature.

"Yoga is the science for humans, not merely āsanas and prāṇāyāma, but something beyond."

"Every seed has only one dream: that I should become a big tree. I should bear a lot of fruit for society."

Adoration to our holy lineage of the Ālāgpurījī Siddhapīṭha, Devapurījī, Bhagavān Śrīdīp Nārāyaṇa Mahāprabhujī, and our Sadguru Swāmī Mādhavānandajī. We have with us our respected Dr. Śrī Gulābjī Kothārī. Many of you know him, and many will now come to know him. Gulabjī is very well-known throughout all of India and internationally. Many of us also knew his father, who, unfortunately, is no longer with us in this world but remains in our memories and hearts. Here in Europe, we say the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Just as his respected father, Kulishji, gave immense knowledge about the Vedas, it is said that the blessings and knowledge a father gives can grow to become even greater than the father himself. Respected Gulābjī has written numerous books on the Vedas and science. He is incredibly busy, beyond imagination. He arrived here yesterday, yet at midnight he wrote a substantial article and sent it to his newspaper in India because one of India's great dignitaries, a past Prime Minister, passed away yesterday. It was a very beautiful article. Many letters, newspapers, and readers were writing, but if we compare—and this is not merely a compliment to Gulabjī—his article stood out as great. We could say it was as if, in one part, the whole ocean was contained. Gulābjī will be with us for a few days and will perhaps give one talk a day, where you may also ask questions. We are very happy he is with us and we welcome him warmly. At the same time, we have with us our Swāmī Vivekpūrījī Mahābandheśvar, our dear Swami Parvatījī, our dear Umā Purījī, and Madhuram Swami Madhuram Purī, who is coming from New Zealand. Our Mātajī, Dayā Māta, is here from China and Vancouver, where she works. Another day, she is from Austria and Germany. We also have our dear Ānandī, Swami Ānandī from Croatia, and many other bhaktas and yoga teachers. We are all here to learn something more each day. Out of 8.4 million different creatures, I think humans possess greater intellect. But that intellect requires teaching and learning. Although we are human, clever and capable, and science develops day by day, all of it stems from past knowledge. Yet, despite everything, humans still run on a particular path. In whichever community you are, you will take on its color, knowledge, and behaviors according to that society, and everyone will claim, "I know better." There are very few who understand all of humanity. It is not easy. Therefore, we must finally concentrate on that which we call the Jīvātmā. Of course, there are many different paths, but as we say, yoga is the better—the best, according to our understanding. Yoga is the science for humans, not merely āsanas and prāṇāyāma, but something beyond. Over these next few days, or nearly two weeks, we will have new chapters, kriyās, etc., and simultaneously, lectures from respected Gulābjī. We also welcome his assistant and friend, a professor, who accompanied him. Yoga in Daily Life is active around the world—in China, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Canada, Africa, and all other countries. The science of yoga has become a beautiful path in their lives and is declared as the science of life itself. In these 48 years of work in yoga and life, we can now see that some of the seeds have sprouted, and we will continue further. Time is moving forward. There is a good term some know well and some do not: jet lag. For us, it is only 9:30, but in India, it is already 1 o'clock. Our dear Gulabjī has a little cough, but you see, he never says he is tired, so we should have mercy. Still, I will request Gulābjī to say a few welcoming words. Gulābjī, the floor is yours. With Swamiji's permission, Praṇām to all of you. I am so happy to be here. This is my first visit to the Czech Republic. I had a chance to visit Bratislava, and I am happy to know that this place, particularly the Czech Republic, has far more experience with Yoga in Daily Life. I look forward to learning many things from you. Tomorrow, we will talk about something in the morning, and in the evening we will have questions and answers. The subject will be very clear to all of us, and your questions will teach me how you look at life. Tomorrow, I think we will start with the topic of body and karma. The body is different; it is mortal. The soul is immortal and lives inside the body. I am not the body, but I live through the body. So, yoga means: how to synchronize this immortal and mortal element? To know what I am, we are all like seeds. Look at one seed here. How many plants? How big a tree it has become today. We are all branches, leaves, and fruits of this tree. Each one of us can become a big tree. But we have to dream. No—every seed has only one dream: that I should become a big tree. I should bear a lot of fruit for society. But the problem is, if the seed is worried about itself, it cannot become a tree. It has to bury itself in the ground and forget about its own life. That is the first principle of nature. Only then can you create something new. The example is Swamijī before us. He lives for all of us. We share all our good and bad parts, our issues and problems, with him. He has no individual, personal life. I think tomorrow we will talk more on the issues of these karmas, how we look at ourselves and perform. Let us pray our dialogue improves or elevates our life to some extent. Om Śānti.
