Practice and try to purify your karma

Spiritual practice requires vigilance and faith to remain uncorrupted. Some individuals spread negativity like infection, causing others to fall from wisdom. Stay close to the Guru's shelter for protection, as some grains avoid being ground by staying near the mill's central pillar. Do not carry the burdens of others; those who create trouble for others bear their own karma. Your duty persists regardless of hour. Share the pure teachings without manipulation, as the fruit reveals the quality of the tree. Practice diligently and purify your own karma.

"Between these two stones, played no one remained complete." "Whoever does that will suffer. Why are you crying?"

She is from the Czech Republic and is frequently invited to many different countries, including India, to give lectures on health and yoga. Her main subject is always Yoga in Daily Life. She has spread this system in universities, colleges, education departments, and other nations. She is my very long-time disciple, as are her children and grandchildren. They all practice yoga diligently in their lives. She was once at a retreat in the mountains, at a large sports center, where she was invited to introduce yoga into their routine. Of course, all of you practice according to your capacity—not just knowledge, but the space available. There is often not enough space, and of course, there is family and work. Karuṇā, how many years have you been practicing yoga in your life? Since 1990. In the Czech Republic, in your city? Czechoslovakia is very nice; there are many of our Bhaktas there. Due to our center in Strelka, and because we have a large number of practitioners, we are focusing on two places: Budapest, Hungary, and Strelka. From time to time, I think I should visit those parts of the country again. There was a time I spent ten days in one place, two weeks in another, and five days elsewhere. But our concentration has been here. There are many centers, and they are all experts in Yoga in Daily Life. They teach the complete philosophy of yoga. Yoga in Daily Life exists because of all of you; you are very correct and maintain discipline. Of course, you saw our beautiful orchard garden in recent days, with its lovely apple trees. But some apples fall down, spoiled. Why are they spoiled? This is very important. During the lecture on Karuṇā, I am taking over this point. You see, some apples grow very well and are ready to be plucked or eaten, but why do they suddenly rot? It is because of creatures like wasps. The apple is a very gentle fruit. When a wasp or bee touches it, it causes an infection, and slowly, slowly, the apple rots and falls. Similarly, some people—not all—are like wasps. They come and give you blackmail, and slowly, slowly, you fall down. You go in that direction and become useless because you are spoiled. What is spoiled? The wisdom that was given is lost. That is why, when you come to the spiritual path, you must be very careful. Otherwise, there is a lot of infection. Some people have only one aim in mind: to send blackmail to others. Some are very strong and withstand it, but others are so innocent that they go away—lost. This morning, the subject was from Kabīr Dāsa. I could not complete it because it was already time for lunch. Kabīrdās was crying, sad. He said, "Between these two stones, played no one remained complete." But the master said, "There are some; they were not ground. Why?" In a grinding mill, there is one stone on top and another below, and the grains are ground between them. When grains are put inside, there is a hole. Some grains run and stay under, near the central stick that supports the mechanism. Nothing happens to these grains; they remain comfortably there, near the pillar, where the grinding begins only after two or three centimeters. These grains are stuck near that stick. Therefore, it is said in a nice bhajan: "Gurudev, I am a shelter to you. Please save me. I am at your shelter. Be merciful, Lord, and let me cross the ocean of māyā, of ignorance." When we have ground two, three, or ten kilos of grains and then open and clean the mill, there is always a handful of grains that remain untouched. So the Gurudev said to Kabīr Dās, "No, it was not all ground." He said, "It is so." The Gurudev said, "Come with me," and he opened it. "Look, these are the complete, untouched seeds." So, when we are at the shelter of the Gurudeva, if you have faith... When a little negative thought comes, then your whole system—spirituality or non-spirituality, belief or non-belief—doesn't matter. Many problems can come, and many things happen. But have faith—though not two together. If you have good food but poison inside, the result will not be good. That was the morning subject, and I finished it. In the afternoon, after eating, I went to my room for a yoga nidrā. In the middle of my rest, I remembered I did not complete this story. I thought, "I will remember again." I slept again, woke up, and thought, "No, you must write it down, or you will forget it." So I brought it to hand, and that was okay. But then I decided to tell you another story immediately related to this subject. It was neither my sleep nor yoga nidrā, and I had to go visit our dear Śevapurī and his wife Śāntī. They gave birth to a daughter on the full moon day, Rakṣabandhan day, so we gave her the name Pūrṇam. I went to give a blessing. According to the Indian system, for the first night or at least a good week, you should not visit the child and mother because of infections. But in the Czech Republic, there is so much pesticide that there are no infections. So I got up and telephoned. I said, "Tea, please," to Mansa Devi. "Please, tea." Of course, she didn't say anything; she came. But I think she was here working for the Himalayan trip, and some others came. They were all surprised: "You didn't sleep or rest?" I said I slept three times. So that is... you have your duty. Even at midnight you will wake up. And so Kabīrdās goes to the other direction, the other street. He was living there, and opposite his house was a butcher who was slaughtering a goat. Kabīr Dās was very, very sad and crying. So Kabīrdās goes to his guru and says, "Guru, what can I do?" It is said that his master said to Kabīr, "You need not cry. You need not feel guilty. Whoever does that will get the karma. You will not get any karma from that." So, "Kabīra Ghar Chokte Galkatia Ke Pas" was the second part of this—I've forgotten. "Kabīra Garkalī Galkatīā Ke Pās," and then I will remember. I'm old now, you know. You can tell me; I will repeat it. "Jo karega so bharega, tu kya rovat hai?" So, whoever does that will suffer. Why are you crying? Similarly, why are you worrying about the person who is blackmailing you here and there, or about the Guruvākyas? They will suffer very much. We can tell them to give up, but there are some people who cannot sleep unless they create a problem for someone. The whole day they cause problems for others. One man who was doing these things one day had no chance to make trouble for anyone, and he came home. Luckily, his wife was not there; she had gone to her parents. Otherwise, he would have made trouble for his wife and then slept. Until three o'clock in the night, he couldn't sleep. He thought, "Today I didn't make trouble for anyone, but there was no chance." So he took the telephone and, with closed eyes, just dialed numbers. The telephone rang somewhere at three o'clock in the night. A very nice man, very humble like our Niranjan Purī, got out of bed. He answered the telephone at three o'clock at night and said, "Yes, hello?" The other man said, "Be aware now, make your doors properly closed. Something has happened, and the police are coming and will break your door and enter. My dear friend, I'm your neighbor, and I'm sorry for you. Something very bad will happen," and he put the telephone down. So Niranjan's sleep was gone; it became a horror. And the other one said, "Now I am happy," and went to sleep. So, there are some people who make troubles for others, and that karma will go to them. It will happen—some in this life, some in another life. Therefore, we have to be clean. Those who send blackmail to you, or to someone on your behalf, will get double problems. That is why many people cannot be successful in yoga. Unfortunately, even one yoga group regards another as an enemy. That is why the Prime Minister of India declared, through the United Nations, the International Day of Yoga—free for all. So you can fight or not fight, but you are free to practice yoga. Whatever you have learned in this seminar, you were with your friends—they were so happy. I was observing how they were friends together because you have no others to speak to in this spirituality. And our children are so nice. You can't imagine—today I came a little late because of the children. On the occasion of the birth of Seva Purī’s daughter, he brought ice cream. Can you imagine how many children we have? They ate, but one child and two parents came. So, of course, the two parents also got ice cream. It's okay, why not? Meanwhile, I was having my dinner, and then I came out because they were in the park. I was eating on the veranda and then came out. You can't imagine how the children touched my heart. No one told them, but how happy and jumping they came to me. No understanding, no language, nothing. I have only five fingers on one hand and another five, so everyone tried to catch a finger. So it is said, we are children. And we have the truth in our heart—that's it. Now, tomorrow you will go back. Practice and try to purify your karma. If you or someone had negative thoughts or negative thinking about others, that's it. This Anuṣṭāna Sādhanā we did was very nice, and our dear Niranjan Purī and other guides did it very nicely and kindly. Actually, I am looking forward to coming to our ashrams again. There are so many places. The New Zealand people are waiting and waiting, and the Australians are waiting. It has already been three years since I went. I said I will come and I will come. I was near New Zealand, but I was busy and had other programs—so it is everywhere. Now you should go around the world and take over everything, and I will retire. Like this, we have to bring a good message. An apple is an apple. An apple tree is an apple tree, and the taste of that apple is the best. But when you manipulate that tree, hybridizing it, then it's not that taste, not those apples. Similarly, our spiritual trainings and exercises—Yoga in Daily Life—that is yours. It is your quality that you are teaching. If you bring this message to others, then you will be successful. It is said the fruit will show how the tree is. So what kind of message will you give? They will say, "This is the right tree." There are many bhajans, many stories, and we have a very nice message about our Gulābjī Kothārī from India. We hope he will come again and teach further. Tomorrow morning, our program is until ten o'clock. Then many have to go a far distance, and many have to prepare to go home and come for the Himalaya trip. This time in the Himalaya will be very special, but you know that Swāmījī cannot rest. There will be two conferences at the Alāgpurījī Siddha Pīṭha. You will see what will happen. It is said that if you are not stirring your halvā, it will burn. So keep on stirring; then there will be more taste. Otherwise, you sit down and it burns and burns. So, like that, our dear Karuṇā—and the name Karuṇā means 'Merciful'—I think, Karuṇā, this was an introduction for you. Thank you very much, Viśwa Gurujī, for letting me share with you such an experience from the last few days. Thank you that I can spread my experiences. The other day I was walking in the beautiful mountains of Jilemice with beautiful young people and their trainers. They do biathlon. Biathlon has a tradition of about 50 years in the Czech Republic. It is a combination of cross-country skiing and shooting. This sport is very famous in the Czech Republic, and we are very successful at the Olympic Games. It is good for women as well as for men. They asked me to use Yoga in Daily Life and teach them how to prepare even better for the next season. I said, "Yes, we will do an experimental study on how yoga can help biathletes in their daily lives." We will do research on young athletes, 15 to 20 years old—a study on how yoga can help sportsmen and sportswomen from ages 15 to 25. This research will continue. We started with the first practical training on Monday. Their coaches thought we would focus on breath exercises because they need to be calm during shooting. But no, we started with Sarvahitā Āsanas. They were surprised at how stiff they are; they haven't even been able to do Marjari. They are so stiff. But you know that Marjari, as well as Tiger, is a very good breathing exercise. They practiced twice a day, and I was happy that they really loved yoga. Our system, Yoga in Daily Life, is so perfect that the application to their training was very easy. Their coaches practice as well. They were surprised that these very easy exercises are so effective, and they asked me for breathing exercises. They have some special components; they breathe in and out through a special mechanism to make the breath even harder. This way they would like to train the breath. I recommended Nāḍī Śodhana first level to them because these mechanisms are very expensive, and we have Nāḍī Śodhana for free, and it’s much more pleasant. We also practiced yoga nidrā. They realized how difficult it is to keep concentration because they really need very good concentration. They were perfect in balance exercises. I just told them to close their eyes if it’s too easy for them. I was surprised that they were so interested, and I am looking forward to our next cooperation. We will try to objectify the results as much as possible. There are certain tools that allow us to objectify what is happening during the Āsanas. They will also be watching in a certain way, and we would like to see real results of this training—how they will be successful in the next season. I told them the story about the king with three sons. He gave them an arrow and showed them three pine cones, which they had to hit. The first son asked, "Where are those pine cones?" The king said, "Go away." The second son said, "I see three of these pine cones, and I will immediately shoot them." The third one said, "Okay," but the king said, "Go away." He told the second son to go away. The third son said, "Did I see those three pine cones? They are not on this tree anymore." He saw the result; he was already successful. The king said, "All right, you will be my successor." They realized that they would be successful, and they didn't have doubts. We practiced Kaṭupranām as well, where you can practice the victory position. Kaṭuprāṇām has the best effect for these sportsmen and sportswomen. I remember one Slovenian here who was practicing Kaṭhūpraṇām, and it helped him greatly. It was published in some booklet. I presented them the book System Yoga in Daily Life. You can apply this system in every human activity. You can apply it also for sportsmen because they need to have self-confidence. The strength of their body is just 40% of their success, and 60% is their mental agility or mental power within themselves. I am sure we will see positive results of this research, and we will publish it as well. Thank you. Thank you, Karuṇā.
