Practicing with AUM

The navel is the center of the universe. Our origin and roots are there, where the soul resides. From that single point, everything multiplies like a tree from a seed. The resonance of the entire universe is concentrated in the navel; it is the center of the earth and sky. That one divine energy, Śakti, dwells in every seed and atom, and that light of consciousness is Śiva. Concentrate on the navel and feel the breath; awareness is there. The inhale and exhale, like ocean waves, are the automatic movement of life. Through practice, one becomes flexible and awakens to this truth.

"The answer is in your navel. Everything is concentrated in your navel."

"All is Śakti and that consciousness."

We will chant Oṁ eleven times. Sit, everybody, in a comfortable posture. Keep your body straight. Siddhāsana. Make yourself comfortable and close your eyes. We will chant eleven times. Chant Oṁ from the navel, from the Anāhata to our Viśuddhi, and then from the Viśuddhi directly to the Sahasrāra. From the Sahasrāra, go to the Ājñā and to the whole body, coming back to the Viśuddhi. We will chant not too long, so that everyone can come with the breath. Do not chant too long. So, from the navel—this holy place, this is our origin. Our roots are there; our beginning is from there. Our soul, the Jīvātmā, resides there in the Maṇipūra Cakra. After Māyā, it goes in different directions. Like this tree has one seed, and it said, "I am one, and I will multiply." So it is that in our navel, and then multiplying: the trunk of the tree, branches, leaves, blossoms, fruits, and continuing. So it is there. The Nāgarī, where there are Devanāgarī alphabets or letters—and this Devanāgarī means the citizen of God. It means the citizen of the divine world, that world of the divine or gods. So it is that resonance from the whole universe, but the middle of the universe, the center of this earth, the center of the sky, is in your navel. There is no need to search for where the center of the earth is or where the center of the sky is. The answer is in your navel. Everything is concentrated in your navel. Sādhānā. Those who practice sādhānā are awake; that’s called the Śakti, and Śakti is that light. That energy, activating activity and expanding further, this Śakti. Each and every seed, no matter from what—the big trees, small trees, bushes, grass—all the seeds have only one Śakti, and that Śakti is dwelling in everyone. It is dwelling in each and every atom of our body, in the vegetation, in all five elements, in the Śakti, and that is the light of Swayambhu, that’s called Śiva. Mahā Deva. Mahā means great, Deva means the supreme, the God. And there is, all is Śakti and that consciousness. So concentrate on your navel. Feel your breath. You need not make techniques. It is automatic; it means when you inhale, the stomach expands. It means the navel is also coming up. And when you exhale, the navel is contracting. This is happening all the time, whether you are sleeping or you are awake, or you are in water swimming, or you are running. If you are aware, or not aware, but that awareness is in your navel. We are always searching in the brain, but it is in the navel. So, this mantra, the alphabet, this is very, very powerful. And that is in our whole body. That is what we call Devanāgarī, the citizen of the divine world. On the earth, in the water, in the ocean. To the beach, the waves are coming and going all the time. Feel in your stomach, the navel. So when the waves are coming and going back, it is that the ocean is inhaling and the waves are coming. The ocean is exhaling. The waves are coming back. That is life. You can see the ocean has its life. And many different creatures are living in that ocean. The earth may disappear, but the ocean does not, and again every jīva becomes one. And this one is divided into two, and this is called the ātmā and jīvātmā. That jīva is again multiplying. So concentrate on the navel and exhale. The āsana makes you comfortable. Through the sādhanā practice, you become very flexible. Now, we will inhale from the navel and the alphabet R: A U M R.
