The way to a happy and healthy life

An evening satsang on spiritual festivals, inner purity, and Ayurvedic living.

"Don't believe like it is a god. There is no god. You will not see a god like in this space, moving here and there. It is a great, great saint. Developed in that way, he is like a god."

"Āyurveda is not a medicine taken as a medicine, but Āyurveda is the nourishment for the body... Āyur means the age, the life, how long you can live. Veda is knowledge."

Swami Vishwa Guru leads a discourse, beginning with the significance of global spiritual festivals and the divisions created by language and ritual. He shifts to the theme of inner and outer purity, discussing how personal habits and environmental pollution affect health, advocating for a sattvic lifestyle and the true knowledge of Ayurveda as nourishment. He speaks of the inner light of the soul, the stickiness of karma, and concludes with announcements about upcoming events and the work of Ayush Europe, introduced by Sugandh Purī.

Good evening. Blessings of Gurudev. Welcome, and nice to see you. This month we have many beautiful spiritual festivals. This kind of festival doesn't matter in which part of the world or which country; everyone has their culture, and there are different ones. There are social festivals, cultural programs, and spiritual festivals. All these festivals, what they are or what we are worshipping or enjoying, have very deep meanings. They represent the spiritual part of life, the cultural part of life, and the social part of life. For example, in some countries you have opera and many musical programs. In Europe, there are many festivals and music from Austrian and other musicians. These become big social and cultural programs. From time to time, there are spiritual festivals. Now, day by day, in every decade or century, spiritual festivals are beginning and developing. For instance, there is Hindu Dharma. In Hindu Dharma, there are so many different branches, different festivals, and different beliefs. Similarly, in Christianity and Judaism, there are also many branches. One religion, but it has many branches. In Christianity, there are so many—you can't believe how many. When you go to America, how many different kinds of churches are there? They are based on opinion, feelings, and belief, but the roots are one: Christianity. Similarly, in Islam, it is one, but there are so many branches, so many different ones. The thing is this: something is not properly organized when we talk about God and spirituality. God is there, only one word: God. We can say this God, that God, and finally only the universal, what we call Brahman. It is only that. The problem is in language. All fighting in different countries comes from language. For example, when the British entered India and could not succeed in something, they said, "We can only change the language. Then we will divide. When we divide, then we are ruling." So they changed the language to English, and with that language they divided people. Now there are so many castes, and this and that, and many, many things—as well as politics. In this Kali Yuga, we have made so many branches and many things in the name of God. And of course, we are doing the festivals and many things. In India, there are many, many spiritual festivals. You can worship every day. I saw many people, mostly ladies, who are fasting every day. Today this ceremony, tomorrow that ceremony, eating only one meal a day. It's okay. It is good for their health, and they see everything. So we have to respect both the outer world and the inner world. In the outer world, we shall respect their ceremonies and festivals. Festivals sometimes are such that one does not accept, and for one it is something divine or holy. I don't know—in many days or some kind of festivals also in India, what they call, they were slaughtering some buffaloes or goats and giving this as an offering to some god. But if you research and see the cause of that: because people were not respecting and accepting the killing of animals, but they still wanted to eat meat. And so, in the name of the Divine Mother or this and that, they kill and say this is a prasāda. But the majority doesn't respect it. Now also in Islam, once a year they have some kind of festival where they are slaughtering a goat, and they are explaining this and that. In that way, we also divide opinions and people. So, now what to do? What to do? There was one saint, Kabīr Dās. He was living there, and opposite to his house was a slaughterhouse. He was very sad. So he went to his guru and was crying. His master said, "You cannot remove them. You can remove your house and go somewhere, but those who will do, they will get [the consequences]. So you should not pay or suffer." So, the inner and outer. In the outer, it is difficult for us sometimes to accept or do something, to repair something. But as a human, in our within, our self, we can change our human's inner mechanism, or whatever we call it: all our thoughts, our actions, everything. We have five parts of our body, and these five parts we are taking as Annamaya Kośa, the physical body. The physical body we can do in such a way that we can repair it. 90% of our disease is from the way we are living. Our enemy is our tongue, our taste. This is a very, very strong [enemy]. I said, "I should not eat chocolate, but I can." And then I open it, and I say, "Open it, right?" And I say, "Okay, give it to the other person." I took a little piece and put it in my mouth. This is the way of living, way of thinking, way of reading, way of eating and drinking, etc. So now we can still do something. It will not be 100 percent, but we can change our health condition immediately if we come to our nourishment, what we call Āyurveda. It's not that Āyurveda is a medicine taken as a medicine, but Āyurveda is the nourishment for the body. That's called Jadāī Bhūti and Mānaspati—to live with nature, also water. Water is our element, and many diseases are coming through the water. But who polluted the water? There was a time, I would say, when I came to Europe or Austria, somewhere in the forest there is a very nice lake, a little nice pond; the water is good, you could drink it. A water creek is moving, and we can drink water from the mountain. But now we have polluted it. This pollution, this pesticide, is about three meters deep in the earth. How? Through the water. They dig for water, for example, in Rajasthan, near Nagar. It is about 250 or 270 meters deep, then some water came. That water is very good now, so deep there are no bacteria and so on. But the essence of this poison that we have, pesticides, is there in the water already. Because when you put lots of pesticides in our field, when it rains or when they give water, this water is going, sinking into the earth. More and more, that will not come out. It goes more and more, and that is, unfortunately, how we have killed ourselves. We are killing ourselves. So this earth, then water, then air, then fire, and space. Till a certain level in this space, we are also spreading and spreading it and fluttering in the air the poisons from our different kinds of pollution, maybe from airplanes or in different ways. Because with the air it goes up; with the ocean water, what is coming from the ocean goes up with the heat as steam, comes to cloud—that's all. So how much, how much part of the ocean is hanging in the space? In that is also... this kind of poison is there. So this is why we human beings, out of greed, put the poison and we destroy the vegetation and also other creatures, and ourselves, of course, first. Still now, we can do as the Āyurveda—not as a medicine, but as nourishment. That's why it's called Āyurveda. Āyur means the age, the life, how long you can live. Āyur, we can say in India, what we say to us: "How old are you?" and we said, "Āyu." Āp kī āyu kitnī hai? This is a language, Hindi or Sanskrit, and we have here in English your age. So this, we are connecting our living with our way, how far we can go and do something. Āyur and then Veda. The Vedas are like the nourishment—knowledge. So Vedas is knowledge, and that knowledge is first. We should take this as for us the Veda knowledge. So first is knowledge: our body, our life. We have a lot of research, a lot of research and medicine and this and that, but still... we cannot make that and keep that and let it go again. Still, we cannot control. Yes, we have some—thanks to God—that medical research has done a lot, and that is something wrong in the body we can repair, and this and that. But still we cannot make it. We need that. Now, what they are trying to make embryos in some way without a mother's body, or this, I don't know. But that is an experiment, okay. You cannot create the world. You cannot create the world in a different kind of box with some kind of water and salt and something, oxygen, no? We cannot create the world. We need that? That is God's. What God has done, and so that is our inner function. That is the body. It's beautiful. So what I said there was, once, many times I said about the body, and this said, "How, God? Have you created this toy? How is this toy developing? How is it coming and beginning to eat? How have these ten indriyas, desires, everything? And how many times—as many times as you get disappointment—is it that we are making ourselves ageless?" When a child, father, and mother are happy, but as soon as this child gets a fear, disappointment, growing parents are changing, only the one child remains with the one parent. This means this kills our age. So Āyurveda is that: what we should eat to keep our life? And for that we must have knowledge, and that is the Vedas. So now it is in your hands. It is not in my hand. You should know that now I am eating, my stomach is full, okay? I cannot, I will not eat more. But I will say no, put in your mouth, put in your mouth. We cannot. So it is me, myself: what I should put in my body or what I should not put in my body. So that knowledge then, if we are making sāttvic, sāttvic way of living, Āyurveda, then you will have no problems with husband and wife. No problems. With father and children, no problems. Grandchildren, they will love the grandmothers, and this very much, and they are all still with good brain, good thinking. It is a happy, happy life. Now, at that time, we had little facilities, but we were happy. And now we have so many facilities, so many, but still we are not happy, and we are killing ourselves. We cannot control our body, and then we cannot control our other five kośas or these elements. And so, every—what we say now—coming Guru Pūrṇimā, yeah? So every twelve moon days are a kind of festival because there is immense, immense good energy, or black—that means dark night. There is another, but on that day is also a very, very important day: Amāvasyā, we call it Amāvasyā. And they research that on Amāvasyā day, you should not even cut the tree. Don't cut anything. This one day, 24 hours, don't destroy, don't kill. It's like embryos in the body. You don't destroy them. And when he is born, it is full moon. Yes, it is also beautiful. So, these are so many festivals for the waters, for the sun and moon. Don't believe like it is a god. There is no god. You will not see a god like in this space, moving here and there. No. It is a great, great saint. Developed in that way, he is like a god. Kṛṣṇa was born. Rāma was born. All the 24 incarnations were born. Jesus was born. So it came, and you can also become that if you have that quality. So, slowly, slowly, this life, maybe we will go next life and come again there. We will then, we don't see like a God. Sometimes we have the visions. Sometimes we have many of these astral gods' bodies. Sometimes, like Alagpurījī appears, okay, but then you are that. You are, but now when you will see, you have to develop further more, but others see you like a god. It's gone, but it is there. So why are there so many devas, so many holy places? There are. So many places here also you can see somewhere, even that someone had an accident, and then they put on the road, they may put the Christ cross, this and that. Why? Because we see God. So we have to develop ourselves with that, our knowledge. So, everything—why do we destroy so quickly our bones and our joints, and our memory goes quickly away, or differently? Because there is too much, too much meat. People have put animal food in you, made a food in your body from the animals, and animals' life is little. They said, "Beautiful, big, great lion," but they said, "This is so beautiful. The lion is strong." You know how the lion is suffering after the last day of the life, joints and this and that and the other, but they don't, they kick him out of the, you know, this is different. But they have ten, fifteen years, maybe sixteen, maximum seventeen. The ladies are long-living. That's why God sees that in the whole earth there are more females than males, you know. Because the males hurry, hurry, go somewhere else. Anyhow, this is different, okay? So why are your bones like that, and others' bones are not like this? It is with the water, with the eating, with this, this, this. You can change many things. But what is destroyed, broken? Now we have technology. We have one knee repaired, the second knee is repaired. In previous times, about let's say 20 years before, 10-15 years before, a doctor would keep you in the hospital for about one week and see how it is. Today, they cut it here and there, put it in, and leave it. Next time, move it like this. And now, go, go home, hurry home. So, there are many things developing, but then, after, we physically we are here, but then psychic, what we call psychic, our mental and mind is mighty, strongest, and therefore, make a festival of thy body, thyself. We are worshipping birthday, no? And then we said golden jubilee, okay? We say golden jubilee. And we, in Indian, we said Āyurveda. Āyur, what? Āyuṣ, you know? The Āyuṣ, the Indian government said now the Āyuṣ, yeah? And no. We have the European Ayush, you know. Who don't know? Hand up. Yes, hand up if you know. Girls, you know that you know the Ayush, then why don't you raise hand up? Amrit, you know? Okay, good. So who don't know? Hand up. This means hand up. Up... Keep it. It means you are going to become the member of that, okay? Yes, you said yes. So now you said you will be the member of the European Ayush, thank you. Yes. So we have, I think, Dr. Radha is the president, and Sugandh Purī? Yes. You know Anima Bhaktānanda? Okay. So this is very important for us. That means that we are not nothing. We are something, and we are more than something, but we don't know. So, I think, Sugilpuri, can you give an introduction? This is also, it is also, this satsaṅg, because when the good things are a satsaṅg, and not good things are kusaṅga. Yes. Otherwise, you will be boiled in the heat of anger, so please. Sugandh Purī speaks: Organization with the name Ayush Europe was registered in 2016 in Slovenia, in the town of Novomesto. In the town of Novomisto. And the basic aim of this organization is to promote the quality of Āyurveda and yoga in Europe. Swamiji continues: Yes, yes. Sugandh Purī continues: After several years, when Vishwa Gurujī was invited as a key speaker to International Yoga Day conferences organized by Prime Minister Modījī in New Delhi, we were thinking about how to enhance our cooperation with the Ministry of Āyush in India. And how we, as Yoga and Daily Life, can contribute more to the goals of the Āyush Ministry in India. And one of the most important goals is, of course, to keep the quality in the field of Āyurveda and yoga. We all know that Vishwa Gurujī is explaining many times how easy today people go for some yoga retreat to some island, and they pay a few thousand euros, and they get a certification that they are a yoga teacher or yoga instructor, and if they stay one week more and they pay double, they are Ayurveda doctors. Of course, this is impossible in the true knowledge. And here, the organization of Ayush Europe is helping the Ayush government ministry to secure these goals, to have the traditional knowledge and wisdom as it should be. We are in the process of signing the so-called MOU, which is the Memorandum of Understanding. We first wanted to sign it directly with the Ayush, but since this is a non-governmental organization, the MOU cannot be signed with the government, and now we are in the process of signing it with the sub-organization of the Ayush. And our work will proceed in the basic aim of the organization, which is to secure the ancient Indian wisdom and knowledge. Swamiji continues: Thank you, Sanjeev. So, thank you, Suganpurī, and thank you, Amrit. He's on your now, mister. I would not say the Indian knowledge, or what did you say, Indian, but we have the same thing. We have to introduce. So, we introduce, we bring here one person, and we said, "It is his head." Another comes and brings another man, and says, "Inkā Śīr." Then comes the Austrian, and says, "Seinen Kopf." Yeah. So head, śīr, and what is the difference? That's it. So we have that. We, I, of course, I should also support the Indians, but I have to support the Europeans more because our herbals, in some way, Indian or the European herbals in the mountains, are more clean. These herbs are more clean than in some parts of India, only that, what, how they are bringing and what we are, how doing. So we have to develop this Āyush. European Āyush means that we have the source of everything here. Something we don't have, the Indians have, and something Indians don't have, we Europeans have. So we have to come one day to bring this subject, this part as our European Āyuṣ, Himalayan. We also have the Himalayas. It's called the Alps. So the Alps mountains is a Sanskrit word. Alp is a Sanskrit word. Alp means little. So when you have a breakfast early morning, it's called Alp. Alp, eat a little bit of something. So that is, or sometimes, if you don't like to eat too much, please eat a little. So this is an Alp mountain, part of the Himalayas, the smallest one. Though the Himalayas are the youngest mountains in the whole world, but still they have that kind of energy. And so, anyhow, my dears, Guru Pūrṇimā, Dīvālī. So we have the light and the Hanuman. The Rāma's is about how many millions? It is how many hundreds, thousands of years is the birth of the Rāma and Hanumānjī? So the festival of the light is coming from Diwali as the birth of God Rāma and the coming of Rāma after certain years, 14 years, from the forest he comes back to Ayodhyā, and that's called the Diwali, the light. So, hanging the lights on the branches of the trees, because people were coming. When Rāma came back, people were walking, but they didn't know the way. Day and night they were going, so they made these lights. Like this is different things, okay? So now comes to the pauli, the pauli, the paul deepak, and that is a deeper, the flames, lights. So what we say, that's it. And so, so there are the light and light, different lights. I've many times I've explained. But there is one light, that one light is very, very, very precious. And this means when someone is ill and thinks, "Now I am dying or dead," but still, when there is a soul inside, light, still there is a light inside. So you brought the light when you came, and when you go, this light will go with you. That is a light. So not the light like this and this one, but that light, even in the dark and darkness, is that light within thyself. So, but when there is a desire, there is jealousy, hate, conflict, this, that, doubts, pouts, kouts, then it is like a, then you are creating the karma. Very difficult things are to get out of the karma. It is something very sticky, so from this hand you take out to throw, no. Then you take here, it is all the time hanging on us. Blackmailing, backbiting, many, many different things. Because humans get this, and then suddenly something appears, and you think, "No, I cannot do it." It is not like that. Yes, kusāṅga, suddenly something puts a bug in your brain, and that is what we have. Good things are very good, but sometimes new infections come. And that infection despoiled many, many... things, and that karma comes back. It doesn't think that now you are okay. Don't think that, Swamiji, now you are free of the karmas. I have so many karmas, yes, but still, I am in the light. Trying to go through the light, I will not stick to this black wall or this side. So, the karma will stop at the last time when you touch your heart here and say, "Still, light is there." So now the karma is stopped, and that is in the chest here. So light, light is light. And light is everywhere. That souls are God, how have done, I don't know, he brought this creation, Śiva or Śakti or whatever it is. But now it is there, and so we can do only one thing: that we pray that, O God, let me continue my path. That's it. We are not self-realized now. We are not God now. We are not the... But what we are, we would like to purify, and, My Lord, let me come on this path. Bring me to you, Lord, quickly again. Sometimes you think, some people say, "This cat is like my grandmother," so maybe your grandmother came as a cat. But please, I don't want to come as a cat. When then, please bring me as my part of myself. Or liberate me there, so I will be there. There is. So don't think that I am the best one. Yes. And don't think that you have no karma. You have so much karma. But because we are human, and because we do something good and we have guru kṛpā and gurus, so often we are saving life. Yes. I don't want to tell, but I can tell you something today. Four days ago, I had an accident, yeah. And it was, I want to do something good. So I put all the lights off at night because I was using too much electricity there in the country where I was. And so the windows are that little light, so I know I can go to the bathroom and come back. And I have siddhi. You don't have siddhi. I have a siddhi that I can, every one and a half to two hours, get up, wake up, and go somewhere in the dream and come back. So I came and I turned to my bed, and I said, Well, it means again, oh, in the bed. But I was nearly 10, 15, or 40 centimeters far away still. Like this little child was, you know. I thought today's bones are broken. But no, any bones broke. It was a little bit, it was like on the buttocks. And I said, Mahāprabhujī, perhaps you gave me a paich here to my karmas. So we have, but it is said, karma we have to go through. But 99%, Gurudev will protect us. And 1% is that it will be gentle; there you will do good, you go out. So we are in this life. We are. But we have to do work in us, yourself. And don't, these two things, don't tell your good things or your bad things. Yes. But there are some people who cannot. They have a stone in the stomach. Immediately, I will tell something further, oh God. So nowadays I am saying that I will not say anything further, isn't it? Because people, they don't have an inner, their inner mechanism is out of condition. Your inner instruments are not anymore like our car. The instruments are kaput, so they cannot hold inside. So they are telling everything out. Why? Why is this girl telling this boy that this man was a very bad man because he was not nice to his father? Okay. So why can you not hold desire? And this means all your functions are gone. And now, the God, what should the God do? Therefore, it must be very solid. And then, if it is bad, you turn to the right. Everyone says, "This is a bad man, bad man, bad man." And one comes, like our Wolfgang. And the wolf comes and says, "You are okay. Yes, you are good." One, you see, if you give the one good idea, even though he is bad, but you tell something is there, someone that, "Yes, there is something, yes, that's it." So, very, you know, about Dīvālī, Dīvālī or Dīvālī, we will have very soon, and I promised at Nepal. Always, I will be there one day before, then coming there, and after Diwali, seven days after, is the Holy Gurujī's Brahmalīna, it means he became one with Brahman. So we will have, every year we are worshipping and remembering. And this year, I will do it in Khaṭobāḍī. And that was the Holy Gurujī's heart there. His whole being was there. Not that place, there was one tree under which he was sitting there. He was walking on the stones here. And so there we will have worshipping of Gurujī's day. It will be very nice, done. And of course, you are coming, many. If not, then you should come. It is something, but of course, then I will say, "Come to the Christmas there, and then you will." So please, who can? You are most welcome. It will be very, very nice. It will be very, very nice. So, my dear, all the best. So it is, we... If we let out, then we become like a bamboo which has a hole inside. But there are certain bamboos that are solid and strong. They are like this. And if it is a rug, it is like a, what is that? A flute. A flute is good, but a flute, it flies outside. So I see, to whom I should say, not many, many,... many gasshaping, gasshaping,... gasshaping. And that gasshaping is going to you again. So I wish that we become really, really very pure. Dark night, dark light in the room. And you should become one who turns on the light. Yes? It is very dark, and I don't know where the light is. But one knows that here is a button, and we put on the light. It means that everybody is in darkness, and like this. But you are a wise one. You make such a button. Everybody will get a light. Say yes, yes, yes. That's it. So light is light. That's why we say, "Jyot si jyot, jagate chalo." Just light in your heart, in your consciousness, in your whole self means only pure. You filter it, you filter it. Otherwise, it is infection, is infection. I got from here, went with the coughing, and in Himālaya, I think, 30 percent. All got it from me, and still they are, they are sharing what kind of cuffing they have. I know, oh God, this was from me. So this is an infection everyone has. This is this. So, without... you should not tell why you are talking. Yes? Otherwise, the karmas will come to us. So, anyhow, I think we still have a program. Tomorrow we have a weekend. You know, we have no weakness. We are not weak. It's the end of the week. We are strong. Okay? And then I tell you, you know, that Ādarovā will be worshipping again. Immediately from Hungary, I will fly with the Amṛt. We go to Slovakia. Evening satsaṅg with our Dr. Martin and little girls and these.
