Seeing the God

A spiritual discourse on the science and meaning of yoga.

"Yoga means oneness. Yoga means merging. Two in one."

"And so, where are we? How is our brain developing? Definitely, in the last few centuries, the human brain is developing and developing, and we are getting more and more and more. But still, in the human body, is the science."

The speaker, Swami Avatarpuri, explores the ancient science of yoga as a path to union and self-realization. He discusses the nature of consciousness, the human journey among 8.4 million life forms, and the limitations of conventional science compared to inner yogic research. Key themes include the search for "Who am I?", the structure of chakras and the nervous system, and the ultimate goal of merging individual consciousness with the Supreme (Śiva). Practical advice is given for daily, systematic practice involving relaxation, postures, pranayama, and meditation, alongside natural skincare recommendations.

Deep Kriya Bhagavān kī Jai, or the glory of the Gurujī. When we say "glory," in the English language we more or less understand it. What we say is glorious, so it is good to give an explanation. The main subject we are talking about is yoga, and yoga is very, very ancient. In yoga, it is called the science of humans. We will speak about yoga. We still have a few days, and I would like to bring very clear meanings of Kuṇḍalinī and chakras. Getting a child, becoming pregnant, before that, getting married, meeting someone—a good friend is also yoga. When you know me and I know you, now we are good friends, we are one. And that's called union. We are now company here together, friends. So that's yoga. Yoga means oneness. Similarly, we get a child. Is that we got the glory of our child? We became three in the yoga, protection of our child. Yesterday I spoke already that life begins from the space, touching to the elements: from the space to the water, air, heat or fire, and earth. The soul is traveling, traveling, and in the whole universe, beyond all, there is no such planet like this, our planet. Many times, ages and ages before, there was a big disaster or earthquake, etc. But again, it came, and life comes here. And this life is that which will bring us to our destination. We say this, but there are many others: 8.4 million different creatures, and it's all divided into three. Jaltar, Taltar, Naltar—the creatures in the water, on and under the earth, and above in the skies, in the flying. These are the three, and all are different kinds of creatures. From these three are 8.4 million. Out of them, one is the human. There is no duality; there is nothing. Maybe we are from the Maui people or the Australian, what do we call them, Aborigines. Or Europeans, China, or Mexico, etc. But we are human, that's it, and so this is—human is one. And now, there we can say one tiger, the second lion, third cat, etc. So, like this, 8.4 million creatures. Water itself is life. So we are in this, in life. We are coming again to this aura of the earth. Now, some will say God, some will say not. Somewhere, this is our imagination. Still, the humans, what is trying to bring this and saying it is imagination, still we don't know how is that. Our medical science researches the human body, the mentalities, mind, but still don't know, cannot. So that is the miracle of the miracles. But we are here, and we want to know: who am I, from where I am, where will I go, etc., etc. Here on this planet, we would not say this planet, it is a vehicle, we call it the earth. Planets and Earth are completely different. So according to astrology, there are nine planets, but Earth is not among the planets. Maybe we say our planet, our Earth, a living planet, but still, not so. Each and every stone has a life, and that will one day turn into the life of a human, maybe. We are coming, we are going, we are coming. And so, where are we? How is our brain developing? Definitely, in the last few centuries, the human brain is developing and developing, and we are getting more and more and more. But still, in the human body, is the science. And we are trying to understand, so yoga. Yoga means union. Yoga means merging. Two in one. And two in one, if we believe, then we are solved as an individual, and God is the other one. So we merge into the Supreme One, what we call Ātmā, we and God. If we know God, it's a big question. I am born in a very spiritual family, worshipping, etc., etc. At a very young age, I began on my spiritual path, and I saw my Master, my Guru, in physical form. He gave me his for me is my God, but till today I didn't see God anywhere. When I was small, I sometimes saw the airplanes, and I thought they will definitely see the God somewhere. And now I fly from the Oakland. Till Canada or America, 12, 13 hours, looking always down: water, water, blue sky, water, night, maybe some stars. I'm looking, one hour I'm looking through the windows. Nowhere, God in female form or in God's form. I'm searching. And if you have seen, I will be so happy that you tell me that I saw that God. And if we see God in human forms, maybe it is a different form. We think like this because we are human. Maybe other creatures have God in their form, maybe somehow. So, let's say the consciousness, and there is a space. Space is endless. Endless. That's called endless space. And we have our consciousness. Our consciousness, how far, where is it? And is the consciousness in our consciousness the space? Or the space is in the conscious? Again, that. Are we out of that, or is that out of us? And again, we come to these five elements. And in this element, we are again there. Within us is the space. In each cell of our body, there is a space. And this space is in our body, and the body is in this space. We know we are one, so these two are one. That one is coming, then we call that, "I am supreme super consciousness. I am one. Now I will not be born, and no death." But when will I come in this? And that is the whole science, is the yoga. All scientists, what they are searching, have done great work. But again, they come to one point. They said, "Yes, it is like that." It means you came to that one point. It means two in one. You were searching. I am searching. What was I searching? That's something I was searching, researching. And now I research, I became one. So it was. Everything was there. And that's why we said the science. And in English words, in my yogic language, the science means some sense. There is some sense. Why otherwise would you say science? And now, I want to know that point of the science, which means research. We knew, but again we are researching the research. And when we came to this research point, we became again the one. So this is a yogī, a yoga. So everything is a good thing. I don't say that scientists are not on that subject. They have a study, they have a lot of knowledge, they know, they research. But sometimes, yesterday in the night, I was... I woke up at 2 o'clock. At 2:30, my sleeping went away because of jet lag from Europe to here, and so I was sitting. And then I said, in some way, our researching, we go on the wrong way. What we developed in the world, how forest, everything destroying, or is in destroying. And these chemicals, and in the chemicals, and what do you think about your, the one of the biggest, what you, milk dairy? So the biggest dairy in the world is in New Zealand, and we don't know what they are doing with this, and everywhere in the dairies we are mixing something, this and that and that, and now in Australia is a very nice... they are so good chemicals, so they mix everything in the milk. They don't want to give you the milk directly from the cow. Why? Because we are giving unnatural feeding to these animals, etc., etc. So, in some way, we are destroying, and in some way, of course, we are very good. I do respect if suddenly an accident... now, the science is... Immediately, with the helicopter, the doctor will come, take us, and give us life again. Otherwise, we are finished. So this science is there. It has a sense in it, but how far can we go to our inner self? How far can we do something for our self? And if we can, we must, we must. Two hours you should practice yoga. What will happen to you? You will, let's say this word, enjoy my life. Enjoy my life on this earth. Two hours per day. The businessman, like this one sitting in front of me, always, he's even midnight I telephone, he said, "I'm in a meeting," and there's no meeting at all, he's snoring on the bed, yeah. But I want to say clearly, 20 times I call, he said, "I'm sorry, I'm on meeting," and so I said, "Please, it is not nice, not nice." Oh, you are working daytime, you can say, "By my other side," say different, so people are laughing and they think this telephone is lost. So it means how to come in this path? Practice yoga. Thanks to God, I always say the medical, our medicine, we have this, we need very much. But there is Āyurveda, very nice. Ayurveda is the first medicine, first from the first Satya Yuga, the churning of the ocean, etc. That story is different. So, and homeopathic. The homeopathic medicine, I think some of you are doctors here, please. I am not a doctor, so I can't tell anything. But for me, homeopathy is a miracle. With one drop, they can make one cubic water medicine. With what? Energy. Developing the energy like this, and that is yogic. And similarly, my dear, if we can recycle our own bodies, mind, our thoughts, etc., we can bring our life long and healthy. I made a mistake because I go around the whole world, and then sometimes, you know, at midnight I get up, and then once I get up, I'm sleeping. I have this. Now I said, "I will do my exercises for two hours." When I have this world, in the 50th, 50th world rounds, I did and bring the message and yoga for the people. So, our life, our body, what is in us, only you can know. Only you can know what is within me. When I knock on the door, then you come and say, "Hello, who is there?" You will say, "Mohanbhai, who is there?" I am the Mohanbhai. I opened the door and said, "Who are you?" I said, "Mohanbhai." He said, "No, you are not." What is this? Oh, this is my shoulder. My shoulder. I am not. Any part of the body I will touch myself, I will say, "My body." My organs, my nerves, my bones, my heart, my... but who are you saying "my"? And this is what we are going to research. Will that day come, or will we search and say, "I am this"? And when you will say, "I am this," I will bring a surgeon, a doctor. And let it open your body. Whatever we will see is still again mine. So who am I? And this, who am I? Then we realize that "I." Where I am, then everything begins to dissolve. Everything. Only that Ātmā. Something is on my throat. Water, please. And so that is the science of yoga. And in yoga, the very best one is this, our chakras. These chakras are the main chakras, about eight. But in our body, according to the yogic anatomy, there are 72,000 nerve systems, 72,000. And in these 72,000, there is the circulation of the prāṇa. Prāṇa means the life. Life is that with this, the blood, the hormones. And in this, there are the cells in our body, uncountable, the cells. And one cell can multiply the whole ocean. That means we have capacity, and these nerves, time to time, coming together, and that we call the glands. The cells, the nerves, the energy, the circulations, the hormones, the blood come together on one gland. So now again I want to say, indescribable. We are indescribable. But when we will come to that point, my dear. And so in this system of the whole body, the first is the nervous system. And on the nerves is our skin, over our skin. And our skin, which we all know, we are very close to our nervous system. And anywhere you touch or end, it's biting your small toe. Immediately, the message will come to the brain: "Oh, ah, someone." So, where is our small toe? And where is the brain? How far is the difference, the distance? But within no time, it is there. And these are the natural nerve systems. Now, the scientists, they made electronics, and it is so quick. Unconsciously, I prayed at one point, and in Europe, there is a bell ringing. Only just, I said, "Oh, it is finished." I closed it. But it is already, the message is already there. So this is a science, a big science. And now we can see ourself, our father, our mother, our friends, everything we see, and we can talk like we are. Now I am talking. It is a science, but this science again is going with electronics. And that electronic system is in our body with our nerve systems, and this nerve system comes there and brings us to these parts of the chakras. And finally, it is called the Śiva. We call Shiva the highest consciousness. Shiva is the highest consciousness. Oh, you like this? Take a picture, all right. So, Śiva means consciousness. Śiva is called svayaṁbhū. Svayam means self. Bhuv is that which created. Only the one whom we call the God, Goddess, they are different. God is only one, the Śiva, rest are the Goddess. And so Śiva is Swayambhu. No one has created him. He has no mother and no father, no brother and no sisters. It is he who manifested, and through all the elements, then everything is beginning. This is a long, long story. So if we develop our body, first, practice, please. It must not be two hours per day, but 20 minutes per day. After one week, 30 minutes. After about two months, 40 minutes. Slowly, slowly, step by step, but exactly systematically. Otherwise, you drive to the end of this side of the city and you say, "Oh, the ashram is there." Again, you go there and you take another street, you go to the other side. So we are given here and there, but we are nowhere. So, systematically, yoga and then life. The book you have, this is not that only I say that you come to my āśram center. Anywhere you can go, but do this systematically, and there the first is relaxation. You come from your work, lie down, and relax. Then do some movements called the body warming. After the body warming, some postures, yogic postures. Then the prāṇa, the energy, and so is prāṇāyāma. After that pranayama, the concentration or try to meditate. Then, further, your teacher will give you. Go on this path. In one year, look at your face in the mirror. What is the difference between today and one year from now? As little makeup you are doing, it's your benefit. As much as you give makeup, it's your loss. All cream, doesn't matter, whole body, it's not good. People said it's good for your skin and this and oxygen. The oxygen doesn't go with anything that you're sending, fat or cream, etc., etc. Many creams, best creams, very good creams, but still there is some alcohol inside. We don't know which quality, the best quality of alcohol. I don't know which is the best or not. I didn't drink, but still, after 15 days, you cannot feel good. You must take the cream on your hands, slowly, slowly bring back your beauty. Natural beauty is the best beauty, best health, and it is economical. No, I don't know how much your wife uses them. Nagin Bai, or what? She's only selling; she doesn't take. See, it's a very good thing itself. So, and otherwise, in yogic, they say, "Take the mustard oil, sesame oil, olive oil, the ghee from the milk, or coconut milk, or the oil." You just take what you want and rub it on your body very nicely, rub it, and then wash yourself nicely with hot water or present water temperature, and in that, take the neem sabun. The neem sabun is the best. You will see in one month how your body will be flexible, how your skin will be what is called baby skin. I have forgotten how I was when I was a baby, but my skin is still very, very soft because I didn't make my eye, did I? I didn't make it. So, my dear yogīs. We come to the yoga, and I gave you only a glimpse of yoga that is called yoga.
