Satsaṅg with Moojī

Every individual has a mission; some live for themselves, but the spiritual aspirant lives for all. The spirit is the soul's radiance that enlightens the mind and controls the senses. A person living only for oneself has a limited source, like a water tank. The true source of strength and wisdom is God, an endless well. Those who connect their entire being to the Supreme receive a constant flow of light and love. To live for others is to endure criticism and hardship without claiming rights over your good deeds. Your personal problems become zero as your heart connects to helping the world; this is among the greatest spiritual works.

"Never count that you help someone. Never say, 'I did this for you.'"

"Do such work in the world that when you die, you are happy you did your job, and the world will cry."

Today I was half an hour late due to a meeting about our conference. Our NGO, now registered with the United Nations, holds this conference annually. This October in Budapest, the theme is "Inner Peace as the Solution to a Conflicted World." The grandson of Mahātmā Gandhījī is invited. We seek your support, especially financial, for this event. All listeners worldwide are cordially invited. Now we come to our subject. Every individual has a particular mission. Some live for themselves, which is acceptable. But some live for all. If everyone had this consciousness, the world would be different. For a spiritual aspirant, the spirit is the radiance of the soul that enlightens the mind, controls the senses, and is the light of wisdom. Humans can greatly improve this capacity, unlike animals. Imagine a water tank with a capacity of 20,000 liters. You can only take out what it holds. One who lives only for oneself has a limited source of wisdom. But there is the water well. You can pump endlessly because its source is elsewhere. Similarly, the source of our strength, the spirit, is God. Holī Gurujī said: "Prakāś poñj amṛta ke śagara śrī dīpa hari mahā dhanī he." The source of light is like the sun, constantly giving. Or like a diamond that constantly reflects light when focused upon. Those who connect their indriyas, mind, consciousness, intellect, and soul to Gurudev or the Supreme receive a constant flow of light, wisdom, love, and happiness. First, a human should find a symbol or Gurudev to reflect their devotion, which will return to them. As you work selflessly in the world, a source of wisdom comes from beyond because you live for others. It is said many humans exist, but few possess real human qualities. Few live for the world. This comes from supreme higher consciousness descending into this physical form. Never count that you help someone. Never say, "I did this for you." What you have given, you have no rights over. To claim rights is selfish. To live for others is selfless, but it is not easy. What does it mean to live for others? Consider a football in the middle of a field, watched by millions. That football is constantly kicked by 22 men. If you are a social or peace worker living for all, you must endure being "kicked" symbolically through harsh words and criticism. You must respond, "Yes, you are right. Thank you. Next time we will do better." You must survive to carry on the mission. We pray: "Lord, bless me with the strength to stand through, and bless me that I will not be angry or curse someone." Imagine Jesus on the cross saying, "Father, forgive them." He endured immense pain. To be successful, you may have to suffer constantly. Your personal problems are zero, but your heart is connected to the world's problems and how you can help. This is among the greatest spiritual works. Great Kabīr Dās said: When I was born, I cried, but people were happy. Do such work in the world that when you die, you are happy you did your job, and the world will cry. You are born as a messenger of God, carrying His love, mercy, light, and name without making differences. Respect all cultures and traditions. Have equal vision, samadṛṣṭi. Everyone has hunger; do not feed only your best friend. Of course, some are lazy and do not wish to live even for themselves. We should help, but wisely—through karma yoga and service. Do not spoil them. Help once, support twice, and the third time, take them to work. One should never be lazy. If you receive unemployment benefits, remember this is money from taxpayers. You are living on everyone's money. If you are disabled, ill, or old, it is acceptable. But young, healthy people should not sit depressed at home. Do not say, "My girlfriend left me, my life is gone." There are more girls than men in the world. Support yourself and let others support you. Do not be depressed by weather; be happy always. Do not worry. Sadā rahe ānandāḻiyā guru śaraṇā merī sattva guru rakhe vajra sintā matta karanā manirbhanī śaṅkākabhī mathadhāranā mare sattā guru nāma sejā bhavatāraṇā akhir mukti pāyah harijisa milanā. Manirbhaya Rahu, Nishankaka Bhimata Narana, Ujjati Padayalukkana, Sadahisumarna, Sadahisumarna, śrī-mādhava-nanda-jī-ānanda-sātya-patha-calana... Whom the Lord protects, no one can harm. To realize the fruits of action, be like a tree. Trees endure years of storms, rain, cold, heat, and drought, developing inner strength to survive. In yoga, there is a technique: work on your Maṇipūra Chakra. Read Hidden Powers in Humans. Concentrate on the Maṇipūra Chakra; awaken its energy. The jewels of wisdom, love, and happiness are there. The Maṇipūra Chakra works in peace and harmony, reflecting on the Anāhata and Ājñā Chakras. The seed of your consciousness begins at the Maṇipūra. When you are sad, in pain, or facing unsolvable troubles, place your hand on the Maṇipūra. Relax, lie down, and follow the rhythm of your breath, the expansion and contraction of your stomach like a wave. You will feel like a baby in a cradle, relaxed and happy in the parents' arms. All sorrows will fade, and you will regain self-confidence. I once counseled a Hungarian man who wanted to die by suicide after his wife left him. Five years later, he found another wife who was strict with him, and he was supremely happy. He said, "Swāmījī, my life is in heaven." We do not know why things happen. Perhaps God is testing us—it is an examination. Expect both good and bad. The Sufi saint Mavlānā of Konya said, "It doesn’t matter how you are, come to me as you are." His presence changed people. It does not matter what darkness exists; the sun says, "Just come to me," and darkness is purified into light. Sometimes there is pain and disappointment, and you think, "Without him I will not live." You will live. God smiles and says, "You will live." If someone leaves, a problem leaves. If someone comes, love comes. Welcome them. I am like a mountain, standing. You can come or go. Therefore, spiritual bhaktas, karma yogīs, dharma yogīs, prema yogīs are the greatest, for they live for others. There is a story of a spiritual couple living in a small hut. One bitterly cold winter night, a man knocked, freezing. The husband invited him in despite the wife's protests about lack of space. They all sat on the bed. Soon, another man knocked and was let in. Then a woman with a small child came, freezing, and was welcomed. The wife grew upset, but the husband said midnight guests are good guests. Again, a knock. The wife became red with anger. The husband said, "Thanks to God, finally we are warm." He opened the door to an old man with newspaper in his shoes for warmth. The host gave him his seat by the fire. This is how God tests if you live for others. Later, a donkey walked in. The husband told everyone to stand, moved the bed out, and said the donkey was also God's creature, cold and frightened. They all stood near the donkey for warmth. Finally, another frozen man arrived. The host let him in and himself went outside, kneeling in the cold, praying, "Lord, you gave me so big a heart but too small a house. Please ensure next time I can house the whole world." That is the nature of one who loves all: "I will live for you, die for you, work for you, breathe for you. Oh my Lord, I will be thine." So do not blame the heat, cold, dirt, or beauty. Beyond all this is the beauty of the ātmā, the soul. Then you will see your spiritual growth. If you are selfish, you are like a diamond locked in a small box. Be for all, and you become that divine person. My life is yours. Work with the Maṇipūra Chakra. Live for all. Have a prayer. Āratī. Śrīdīpana Bhagavānakī. Devī Svarā Mahādevakī. Dharm Samrāṭ Satguru Svāmī Mādhāvananda Gurudevakī.
