Keep the original message of Yoga

All is in the Guru, and the Guru is the one soul in all. The prayer Śrī Guru Ātmā expresses this truth. Only those with guru qualities can compose such words. Meditation on the Guru is the root. The guru who merely teaches the alphabet is insufficient. One must learn when, where, and how to act with common sense. Without common sense, knowledge is useless, as seen when a disciple mishandled oil. True teaching imparts this practical wisdom. Yoga is the primordial science of humanity, Sanātana Dharma. It is not limited to physical postures; spirituality must be integrated. Governments and institutions sometimes push down the spiritual message. Embassies exclude true spiritual teachers from yoga events. Distortions like naked yoga and wine yoga arise when the essence is lost. True yoga is sattvic and vegetarian, free from alcohol and animal products. Sanātana Dharma is the foundation of all religions, like a pomegranate with many seeds. The key to understanding mythology is the wisdom given in satsaṅg with the Guru.

"All in one, and one in all, so that the one is in all."

"Yoga is the science of human beings. Yoga is the science of humanity, Sanātana."

Part 1: All in One: The Guru Principle and the Universal Message of Yoga We worship the animals, we worship the snake, we worship all creatures, we worship the water, we worship the moon, and also the sun. And all this together, our Gurudev said, is all in one. In one? Who? Guru. All in one, and one in all, so that the one is in all. What is that one? That jīva, that soul, etc. And this all is in one: Guru Ātmā. Therefore, yesterday we had this singing, you know, a bhajan: "Śrī Guru Ātmā Mātmā Ho Mātmā Puruṣa Sakala Jaga Ke Antara Jā Cāra Carkī Ātmā Prabhu Cāra Carkī Ātmā Dhara Dhyāna Āgeṭa Āgeṭa Nighavala Caritana Ātmā." It is a prayer, and this prayer is presented in the way that Mahāprabhujī has given; all that Brahmanandjī have said. Only those who possess the qualities of a guru can sing such words or write such a bhajan or śloka. It is not easy. And so, therefore, it is said: "dhyāna mūlaṁ gurumūrti"—meditate on the Gurudev. Do not think that Gurudev is only for giving pictures and mantras and saying Hari Om, Basari Om. Do not think that it is just about giving pictures and mantras and writing something. That is a different guru. The guru who teaches us from the alphabet A to the 52nd ring is one kind of guru. So, who taught you something? Sometimes we are teaching, we are writing—like these children, no? Then your mother or your guru writes for you, and you are writing like this. And then you are speaking. But there must be that kind of knowledge where you know what to write, where what to do. When you have a beautiful cap, or your turban, or your crown, and when you have to sit, you will take it and put it on the buttock and sit on it. But people are doing it another way, which means they have no knowledge. That is it. When you are eating, you should put food in your mouth; do not put it in the ear. So, just writing the alphabet and teaching you this and that is not enough. What is very, very important is the when, where, and how. That is the essence; otherwise, it is difficult. There are many good people, and there is one part, and also the other part on the back side—that is for standing. And this is on the top. Yes, it is like this. For example, one master sent the disciple to go and bring oil, and the master gave the money. Disciples should not keep money with them; whatever they have, they should give to Gurujī. But I don’t ask you, okay? So it goes like this. The disciple brought the money—at that time, perhaps one cent, or one kuna (kuna has a big value, anyhow)—and went to the shop and said, "My Gurujī asked for very good olive oil." So the merchant filled the oil completely, but because it was full, the first merchant said... To that, the sādhu said, "But still more oil is there, because your money, one kuna, is still there, full of oil. There is a lot more oil." The disciple said, "No problem. Please fill it here." So he filled it here. He was gone. The master knew that the disciple had no knowledge. When the disciple returned, the master asked, "Did you bring the oil?" He said, "Yes, Master." Some masters would say, "Only this much?" He replied, "No, Master, it’s here also." Like this, in many situations. So that is what we call common sense. We call it common sense. Jyosa Nes. And therefore, it is said: As mondyak, "Śrī Guru Ātmā Param Om Ātmā Puruṣa Sakalaj Yantra Jami Cāraki Ātmā Prabhu Cāraki." Praṇām Gurudev. We welcome with love the Indian ambassador who has been in Hungary since last November. We also welcome his dear wife, and they have visited several cities in Hungary. We welcome them, along with the disciples of Swamijī who have come from several countries. When he arrived, his first sentence was that he sees yoga as very important. His Excellency and his wife were accompanied by Ankita Sud, a yoga instructor at the embassy. Thank you again, and we would like to hear the words of His Excellency. Paramadhāniyā Viśvagurujī, senior leadership of Yoga in Daily Life, and dear brothers and sisters. I would like to convey my very sincere gratitude to you for receiving me, my wife, and my colleague from the embassy in VEIP, and for allowing us to attend your event today. Today is also Rāma Navamī and Baisākhī festival in India, and therefore I would like to convey greetings on my own personal behalf, on behalf of the Embassy of India, the government, and the people of India to you on this important occasion. I am here to also honor the presence of Swāmījī, his tireless work and efforts, both personally and through yoga and daily life, to promote world peace, to promote the message of love and oneness of humanity, and to spread the message of yoga. This is the wisdom of saints and seers of India who realized the importance of yoga. As you are all aware, a few years ago, the government of India tabled a resolution in the United Nations, and with a record number of 177 countries co-sponsoring the resolution, it was accepted and recognized that the 21st of June is the International Day of Yoga. It was probably the first time that the government of India actively pushed and promoted, and also lent its might and weight behind this important event and important thing, which has spread from India but now covers all over the world, and which is now the treasure of the entire history—and also in Hungary. Therefore, I also wish to convey my very sincere gratitude and thanks to you all. This year again, the Embassy of India will be leading the effort to celebrate the International Day of Yoga, and like in previous years, we will again request you all to join and make this event a big success. Many times people ask me, "Yoga is already very popular, so why do we need to do this?" But the answer to this lies in the question itself. Now, in so many small cities, small counties, and villages all over the world, you will find yoga studios and yoga schools proliferating. There are also instructors who probably have done only one week or two weeks of a unique course, but they have also started their own schools. There are also centers that have been established for only one or two weeks but have already established their own schools. So therefore, it is very important that we keep the true form, true spirit, and true message of yoga, which we find in the words of wisdom from the ancient sages and seers of India. And again, in this, I would like to convey my very sincere thanks and appreciation to Yoga in Daily Life for keeping the true message of yoga. I realize today is not for me to speak. I would also like to hear Swāmījī give his messages. Therefore, I would like to briefly conclude with a small sentence. When I was a student of physics many years ago, Swāmījī, we used to read about Nobel laureate physicist Hans-Peter Dürr, whose famous paper is about how matter is not matter, and how matter and energy keep moving from one form to another form, and that it is only consciousness which is fundamental. Therefore, every nanosecond probably, the matter and energy forms keep shifting from one to another. And in writing this, Professor Durr said that he is not saying anything new, but he is only playing second fiddle to the wisdom of sages from India who had said this many years ago when they said Ahaṁ Brahmāsmi. I myself try to do some yoga in terms of exercises and other forms, but of course I am only a very beginner and a student. And therefore, I come today in front of this gathering not only to recognize your work, but also as a student to listen to the words of Swāmījī and listen to what you are going to do. With these words, I would conclude my address and convey my best wishes to all of you. And once again, I would like to convey my very sincere regards and respect to Swamījī. Thank you very much. Köszönöm szépen. We present the Yoga in Daily Life book to His Excellency Kumar Tuhin. As a small token of my respect, I have also brought a small gift for Swāmījī, and I will request him to accept it. Pazari, pazari, aśruvai. Biharban kánszahyab? Accha. Praṇām Gurudev, Your Holiness, Your Excellency. Praṇām Gurudev, who knows? Because, dear friends, just a few minutes before you came to enter this hall, Vishwagurujī talked about one bhajan about ātmā and paramātmā—what ātmā means, and paramātmā. And when I address you in this way, everybody, you are holiness. Today is a really special day, because it’s the birthday of Śrī Rāma. And also, it’s a special day because we met a new friend. It’s really nice to see you here and to be with us on this special day. Vishwagurujī spread the day of yoga from the 70s of the last century, and every day, every month, every year we have a day of yoga, especially when we have such nice seminars here in Hungary or anywhere in the world. And also, on this birthday of Śrī Rām, it is very important to know that the Hindu Mandir of Hungary, and everywhere in the world where there is yoga in daily life, Hindu religious societies also exist. And we are celebrating a festival of Satsaṅg and Dharma. But be aware, satsaṅg and dharma are not something new for our Western people, because satsaṅg and dharma are not only for one country or one part of the world. We learn from Viśvagurujī that Satsaṅg and Dharma are like a nāl—it is a fruit, a pomegranate—and every other dharma is just one seed inside. And we learn from Viśvagurujī that Satyanārāyaṇa Dharma is that base which is equal for every human living in every part of the world. To understand this, we always need a key. A few days ago, somebody asked me if it is possible to find some holy books without mythology inside. And I said, no, because mythology is just a symbolic way of talking. That is the talk for the wise one. And in that moment when you get a key for understanding your mythology, it is no longer mythology—it is the highest philosophy and highest knowledge. And that key we get all the time when we are together in satsaṅg with Viśvagurujī. We are all very happy that the Indian government, and especially Your Excellency, give support and help to create—not Indian philosophy, not Indian culture—but the ancient culture and ancient knowledge. And only that ancient knowledge can save us from the global crisis: from the destruction of the environment, through ahiṃsā and understanding the value, and understanding that we are just one drop in the ocean. That ancient knowledge, Vedic knowledge, saves us from the wars, because we realize that we are also one drop of that old ocean. And because of that, yoga is so important, not only for our lives, but for the lives of the entire world. Thank you for everything, Vishwagurujī, and thank you also to the Indian government and embassy for supporting that idea. Śrī Dīp Nārāyaṇ, Bhagavān Kī Jai! So, today, on the occasion of the incarnation of Bhagavān Śrī Rāma, we have great luck that from India, on this occasion, His Excellency the Ambassador of India to Hungary is here. We are so lucky. We have here in my hands—who? Bhagavān Śrī Gaṇeśī, Gajānanda Bhagavān Śrī. What can we say more than this? A new year, the incarnation of Bhagavān, the coming message from our Bhāratmātā, and Bhagavān Śrī Gaṇeśa Jī here. First of all, we are very happy and proud to welcome His Highness, because the ambassador can be a Highness indeed—now he is the king. And as our Mahāmaṇḍaleśvar Vivek Purī said, who is the holiness? That one who has that knowledge, that position. The dress does not make it, but the inner feelings, the knowledge, the wisdom—that gives the position. And so our Excellency, the Ambassador-in-Chief, and his dear, dear wife, when both come together, then it is Bhagavān Gajanandjī and Lakṣmījī Satme.
