Keep the original message of Yoga

The Guru is the unity of all worship and the source of true knowledge. Worship of all creation is worship of the one Guru, for the soul and the Guru are one. Singing devotional prayers requires the qualities of a Guru, as it is rooted in meditation upon the Gurudev. A genuine guru teaches comprehensive knowledge—the what, where, and how—not merely alphabets or rituals. Common sense and deeper understanding are essential, unlike the disciple who foolishly overfilled a container with oil. The teaching is to awaken this inner wisdom.

"Meditate on the Gurudev. And do not think the Gurudev is only for giving pictures and mantras."

"Just writing the alphabet and teaching you this and this and that is not enough. That is very, very important: when, where, and how."

Filming location: Vép, Hungary

We worship the animals, we worship the snake, we worship all creatures. We worship the water, we worship the moon, and also the sun. All this together, our Gurudev said, is all in one. In one? Who? The Guru. So, all in one, and one in all. That one is in all—what is that? That jīvā, that soul, and so on. And this all is in one—the Guru Ātmā. Therefore, yesterday we had this singing. In this bhajan is a prayer, and in this prayer, Mahāprabhujī is present in such a way. All have been given, all that Brahmanandjī has said. So only those who possess the guru qualities can sing such a thing or write such a thing. It is not easy, writing such bhajans or such ślokas. And so, in that, therefore it is dhyānamūlaṁ gurumūrti—meditate on the Gurudev. And do not think the Gurudev is only for giving pictures and mantras and Hari Om, Basari Om, and writing something. That is a different guru. That guru is our guru who teaches us from the alphabet A to the 52 rings. Who taught you something? Sometimes we are teaching, we are writing. Like these children, no? Then your mother or your guru teacher writes for you, and then you are writing like this, and then you are speaking. But there has to be that kind of knowledge where you know what to write, where, what to do. When you have a beautiful cap, or your turban, or your crown, and when you have to sit, you will take your hand and put it on the buttock, and you sit on it. But people are doing it. It means they have no knowledge. That’s it. When you are eating, you should put it in the mouth. Do not put it in the ear. So just writing the alphabet and teaching you this and this and that is not enough. That is very, very important: when, where, and how. That is that. Otherwise, it is difficult. So, because there are so many good people. And there is one part, and also there is another part, the back side. That is for standing, and this is on the top. Yes, it’s like this. So when the Master sent the disciple to go and bring the oil, and the Master gave the money—because the disciple should not keep the money with him; whatever they have, they should give it to Gurujī (but I do not ask you, okay?)—so it goes like this. He brought the money. It was that time, perhaps one cent or one kuna. A kuna has a big value, anyhow. And so he went to the shop and said, "My Gurujī asked for very good olive oil." So the merchant put the oil in full. But it was full. So the first merchant said to the sādhu, he said, "But still more oil is there, because your money, one kuna, there is still a lot of oil more." The disciple said, "No problem, please fill it here." So he filled it here. There was none. He knew that there was no knowledge in it. Okay, he came there and said, "Master, did you bring oil?" He said, "Yes, Master." So the Master said, "Only this much?" He said, "No, Master, it’s here also. Like this, here, many." Yes, so that’s what we call common sense. We call it common sense, and therefore it is said: Śrī Guru Ātmā Param Om Ātmā Puruṣa Sakala Jaya Yantra Jāmī Cāraki Ātmā Prabhucāra Cāraki. Praṇām Gurudev. You are to open. We welcome with love the Indian Ambassador, who has been in Hungary since last November. We also welcome his dear wife, and they have also visited several cities in Hungary. We welcome them, the disciples of Swāmījī who came from several countries. His first sentence after he arrived was that he sees yoga as very important. His Excellency and his wife were accompanied by Ankita Sud, a yoga instructor at the embassy. Thank you again, and we would like to hear the words of His Excellency. Should I stop for interpretation, or just speak? Ambassador's Address: Param Ādarnīya Viśvagurujī, senior leadership of Yoga in Real Life, and dear brothers and sisters. I would like to convey my very sincere gratitude to you for receiving me, my wife, and my colleague from the embassy in Vape, and for allowing us to attend your event today. And I would like to express my gratitude to you in the name of myself, my wife, and all of the members of the Embassy, that I can be with you today. Today is also Ram Navami and Baisakhi festival in India, and therefore I would like to convey greetings on my own personal behalf, on behalf of the Embassy of India, the government, and the people of India to you on this important occasion. I am here to also honor the presence of Swāmījī, his tireless work and efforts, both personally and through Yoga in Daily Life, to promote world peace, to promote the message of love and oneness of humanity, and to spread the message of yoga, the wisdom of saints and seers of India who had realized this thousands of years ago. As you are all aware, a few years ago, the government of India had tabled a resolution in the United Nations, and the UN, with a record number of 177 countries co-sponsoring the resolution, had accepted and recognized the 21st of June as the International Day of Yoga. It was the first time, probably, that the Government of India actively pushed and promoted, and also lent its might and weight behind this important event, an important thing which has spread from India and now spread all over the world and which is now the treasure of all humanity. In implementation of this resolution, Swāmījī himself and Yoga in Daily Life, you have lent enormous support, both at the global level and also in Hungary. And therefore, I also wish to convey my very sincere gratitude and thanks to you all. I would like to express my great gratitude to all of you, because Swāmījī and all of you, this year again, the Embassy of India will be leading the effort to celebrate the International Day of Yoga, and like in previous years, we will again request you all to join and make this event a big success. Many times people ask me, "Yoga is already very popular. So why do we need to do this?" But the answer to this lies in the question itself. Now, in so many small cities and small counties and villages all over the world, you will find yoga studios and yoga schools proliferating. There are also instructors who probably have done only a one-week or two-week course, but they have also started their own schools. So therefore, it is very important that we keep the true form, true spirit, and true message of yoga, which we see and which we find in the words of wisdom from the ancient sages and seers of India. And again, in this, I would like to convey my very sincere thanks and appreciation to Yoga in Daily Life for keeping the true message of yoga. I realize today is not for me to speak. I would also like to hear Swāmījī give his messages. Therefore, I would like to briefly conclude with a small sentence. So I will give over the word to Swāmījī. I just spoke briefly, and at the end of the speech... When I was a student of physics many years ago, Swāmījī, we used to read about Nobel laureate physicist Hans-Peter Dürr, who mentioned, whose famous paper is about "matter is not matter." When I studied physics many years ago, we read about a Nobel Prize winner’s article, and how matter and energy keep moving from one form to another form, and that it is only consciousness which is fundamental, and therefore every nanosecond, probably the matter and energy forms keep shifting from one to another. And in writing this, Professor Dürr said that he is not saying anything new, but he is only playing second fiddle to the wisdom of sages from India who had said this many years ago when they said Ahaṁ Brahmāsmi. Professor Dirac wrote down that there is nothing new in this, because the ancient Indian seers have already expressed this when they said that Ahaṁ Brahmāsmi. I myself try to do some yoga in terms of exercises and other forms, but of course I am only a very beginner and a student. And therefore, I come today in front of this gathering not only to recognize your work, but also as a student to listen to the words of Swāmījī and listen to what you are going to do with these words. I would conclude my address and convey my best wishes to all of you. And once again, I would like to convey my very sincere regards and respect to Swāmījī. Thank you very much. We present the Yoga in Daily Life book to His Excellency Kumar Tuhin. As a small token of my respect, I have also brought a small gift for Swāmījī, and I will request him to accept it. Praṇām Gurudev, Your Holiness, Your Excellency, but who knows, because dear friends, just a few minutes before you came into this hall, Viśva Gurudev talked about one bhajan about Ātmā and Paramātmā. What means Ātmā? So, Paramātmā. And when I address you in this way, "Everybody is your holiness," today is a really special day. Because it’s the day of the birthday of Śrī Rām, and also it’s a special day because we met a new friend. And it’s really nice to see you here and to be with us on this special day. Because Viśva Gurujī spread the day of yoga from the 70s of last century, and every day, every month, and every year we have a day of yoga, especially when we have such nice seminars here in Hungary or anywhere in the world. And also on this day, the birthday of Śrī Rām, it is very important to know that the Hindu Mandir of Hungary, and everywhere in the world where yoga is in their life, Hindu religious societies are also existing. And we are celebrating a festival of Satsaṅg. But be aware, satsaṅg and dharma are not having something new for our Western people. Because satsaṅg and dharma are not only for one country or one part of the region of the world. We learn from Viśva Gurujī that Sanātana Dharma is like an anal. It’s a fruit, it’s a pomegranate. And every other dharma is just one seed inside. And we learn from Viśva Gurujī that Sanātana Dharma is that base, equal for every human living in every part of the world. And to understand this, we always need a key. Because a few days ago, somebody asked me if it’s possible to find some holy books without mythology inside, and I said no, because mythology is just a symbolical way of talk, that is the talk for the wise ones. And in that moment, when you get a key for understanding a mythology, that is not anymore mythology; that is the highest philosophy and highest knowledge. And that key, we get all the time when we are together in satsaṅg with Viśva Gurujī. And we are also, all of us, very happy that the Indian government, and especially Your Excellency, give support and help to create not Indian philosophy, not Indian culture, but the ancient culture and ancient knowledge. And only that ancient knowledge can save us from the global cut-off, from the destruction of the environment through Ahiṃsā and understanding the value, and understanding that we are just one drop in the ocean. And that ancient knowledge, Vedic knowledge, saved us from the wars because we realized that we are also one drop of that whole ocean. And because of that, yoga is so important, not only for our lives but for the lives of all the world. And thank you for everything, Viśva Gurujī, and thank you also to the Indian government and embassy for supporting that idea. I thank all of you, Guru Viśva, and I thank the government of India and the support of the ministry. I thank Bhagavān. So, today, on the occasion of the incarnation of Bhagavān Śrī Rām, we have great luck that from India, today on this occasion, through His Excellency, the Ambassador of India to Hungary, we are so lucky. So we have here in my hands, who? Bhagavān Śrī Gaṇeśa. What can we say more than this? New Year, the incarnation of Bhagavān, and coming the message from our Bhāratmātā and Bhagavān Śrī Gaṇeśa Jī here. First of all, we are very happy and proud to welcome His Highness, because the ambassador can be a Highness. Please, now is the king. And as our Mahāmaṇḍalīśvar Vivek Purījī said, holiness, who is the holiness? That one who has that knowledge, that position. The dress does not make, but the inner feelings, the knowledge, the wisdom, and that gives the position. And so, our Excellency, the Ambassador, and his dear, dear wife, when both come together, then it is Bhagavān Gajananjī and Lakṣmīnjī Satme. And our sister is coming also to bring the yoga message to the embassy and give the yoga instructions. So we welcome you also. What is your name? Ankita. Ankita. When the Mahāmaṇḍaleśvar Vivekpuri was putting the point before His Excellency also, the Sanātana Dharma, Sanātana Dharma is the Ādi Sanātana. The first Sanskrit in Sanskrit letters, someone wrote a very big holy book, Sanātana Dharma. That time was also still not; the Vedas were not written. Who could be that? Wrote the scriptures, Bhagavān Vālmīki. And Bhagavān Vālmīki, who wrote the Rāmāyaṇa. And the Rāmāyaṇa, he began to write before the incarnation of Bhagavān Rāma. It is said about 125,000 years or more. How many lakhs? There is a difference, always. So, in that Rāmāyaṇa, Vālmīki Rāmāyaṇa, and before that, the Svayambhū. Swayambhū. Bhagavān Śiva. Yoga is from Bhagavān Swayambhū. People think, and sometimes write in some papers of the embassies, sorry, because when they invited me in New Delhi for this conference, the first conference of yoga, in which we all know that a great, great personality, I would say he is a great saint. Our respected Prime Minister of India, Modījī. And my Grand Master, my Grand Master, who was 135, he lived. In 1963, he went into Mahāsamādhi, and he wrote before about that, through this yoga, someone will come again—I don’t want to say this name—who will be ruling against Sanātana Dharma in Delhi. His Excellency doesn’t tell this, but I can tell. I have freedom, and still he has limitations. But we know all. I would say that he is a saint in incarnation, Mr. Modi. With one voice, within no time. One hundred and how many countries? They all said, "Yes, yes,... yoga." Otherwise, Your Excellency, maybe you don’t know, I came to Western countries in 1980. 1970. Thank you. Sometimes, when there is white hair, there is. But before, there were also many yogīs. And a good message of yoga was brought up from Rishikesh by Swami Sivanandaji’s disciples. But besides many others, before that also Swami Vivekānandjī Mahārāj. And before that also, many Indian yogīs have been traveling throughout the whole world. Yoga is the science of the human being. Sanatan. So the Sanatan is Adi, and now people say Adi and Adi. In this Kali Yuga, many religions developed in the Kali Yuga time. Before, there was only Sanātana. It’s okay, but somehow, the mistake of the Indians too, and others, they try to push down. So they all suggest a yoga. Religion is very far. So some religions were writing in the newspapers and tracking, "Yoga is a work of the devils." Your Excellency, this message did not come to you because our government did not think on that point, and it was kept neglected. Then they also, I’m telling, that Hindu Dharma is a Rākṣasa Dharma. Sister, because I am here and you came now, or you came to that position, no one dares to speak to you, you know? The respect to you, and this and that. And you don’t talk about these certain things. There is it. Lekin. Kī kis prakāra se hamāre tīr ṭhokre? And our government needs to concentrate on it all. You see, it was not, or it is not still. What to do. Now, yoga is also not properly taught in India. In India, your excellency told us, only movement of these exercises is not a yoga where there is a spirituality that comes up. Still, the Indian government is pushing down. I am only putting in his acknowledgment. Otherwise, why should I speak? And I am a sādhu, like Modiji said also, so I have my disciples, they are sitting, they know how much they are suffering from the other religions, and due to that, I don’t know why Indians are so fearful. They don’t say anything. This time when I will meet Modiji, or someone who comes for yoga practice, nurse, or I don’t know which, they just come moving and go back to India. They don’t talk about this, Sanātana Dharma. India is the culture of cradles. India is a cradle of cultures. Everything comes from India. And if you will also keep only physical āsanas, we are not successful at all. This is very important, very, very important. In these three years, four years, the fourth year is coming now. But they did not bring the message of India, except for āsanas, that’s all. No message came to the embassies, and they are afraid. Sorry, Your Excellency, they don’t invite those people who are having some schools of yoga and this; they don’t bring them. I have no problems, but they never invite any sādhus, any swāmīs, anyone who is working with Indian yoga and cultures. They push them out. I don’t know why. You have to write your excellency, please, openly. Why do this? In the day of the yoga, they said, "No, we should not." It was a Hungarian, sorry. You were not there, I think. Me? Sorry, I don’t know. You cannot have this color of dress. Bring only white dress. So, my people, they... Said, then why not? This we can have green. There is no freedom. And when there is no freedom, how will we bring more yoga to the people to bring the better culture and better everything? They think only of dancing, postures, or maybe some kind of meditation. So, do we give real yoga teaching? And how is it possible that declared yoga is only 5,000 years old? How is it possible that they are saying only 5,000 years for Ayurveda? Look at why. These, my disciples, they are from here, they also said, "Swamījī, only 25,000 to 5,000 years?" I said, no, no, it’s from Satyuga. Samudra Bandhan. It is said that it is from the time of Satya Yuga. At that time, Sri Lanka was in Ayurveda. So how can my country, my government, let them write 5,000 only? Because in those religions, they are not even 5,000 years old. And they are telling this and that, so this we have to bring. Indian real culture and message. I am very much in support of this. I don’t say it in front of them, but the mask companies. They are behind me, different religious people, they are behind me, and others are also behind me. So write something, write openly. It doesn’t matter if you want to write my message. So that’s why Hungary, you know, how many villages there is yoga. I came in 1977, or when did I come to Hungary? Every third village you go, and you will see, "Oh, my friend, on this there mean that harm." I think follow Baha. I mean, I’m in the field at the Hungary means Slovakia. May check me, you wherever you go, Corvallis, a bomb. Our home, and up, copa tiger be. I have to know Nick. So, anyhow, sorry, thank you. You see, when the little child has a problem, then he will cry only with the mother or father. So, then if they teach yoga, she teaches properly. Yoga is not limited to the Patañjali Sūtra Yoga. And if it is Patañjali, then we shall begin to say, "Atha yogānuśāsanam." Ligakni. Atha yoga anuśāsanam. What is your yoga anuśāsanam? Can you tell me? Yogacitta. Yeah, so where is your vṛtti? What kind of vṛtti do you have? But, you see, our Indian government tried to be good to all. But that is not a problem. India is for all. And India has no enemy at all. Only except in one’s own house. Which is our own house? India, Pakistan, Afghanistan. This is our house. They are one. And still, India doesn’t want to give them any problems, anything. But those are the other things; neither India can, nor Pakistan. There are terrorists, that is completely different. So we respect, you know, every religion. How big is that religion in India? The other religions are not there. Look how many Christians in India, not that much in Europe. Look how many Muslims. Why not? We respect all, but there are some things that we leave out. So, regarding yoga, I’m very happy that at least... but already they are writing wrong things, and now many people begin to make a business. I don’t want to tell you certain words, sir. Now they begin in America. Now I was in San Francisco just before two weeks, where I have centers also. Now they have it’s called naked yoga, and another one has wine yoga. And wine yoga, when they come in the yoga center, like an aeroplane, they bring the tray. In the tray, they bring juice, water, alcohol, so they bring the alcohol. Some drink with one glass, and some may take two glasses. Then they say, "Relax." This is not a yoga, so there are certain things. So slowly, slowly, our embassy is clearing up. It will bring the right way. It will come the right way. And definitely, neither our government nor our Indians accept these things. And we have sāttvic yoga; we are all vegetarians, and I don’t know who eats eggs. Is there anyone who eats eggs and no meat, no fish? They don’t eat eggs, no meat, no fish. And when they take any medicine or capsules, if there is anything from the animals, they will not take it. If there is an animal component in it, it doesn’t get absorbed. They pray, they say, "Jai to the Mother of India," and it is going very well. But somehow we have to make it clear. Maybe you have to, I don’t know, you get a message from India like this? So, the Ayush Minister, he is very... I told him everything. All India Yoga Union, and I am also a member of that. So, why are we afraid? We should do real yoga with our real friends. So don’t tell that I am blaming His Excellency. Swamiji’s power is giving out like this, so they are telling me, "Why, Swamiji, your government doesn’t tell." Yugoslavia was that time. I had been that time, and there are some countries, I don’t want to tell the names, they write things, and our embassy doesn’t tell anything. And in many countries, if they write something in the newspapers, they will go to the newspaper persons, and they will give him such a knowledge, so he or she will not write anymore. So, like this, we countries here, we have in the Czech Republic, the Hindu religion, Hindu Dharma, is registered there. It is. Hungary, it’s also Hindu Dharma, you know, Your Excellency? In Hungary, Hindu Dharma is written in it, and in Croatia, my disciple, Swāmī Vivek Purījī, and I am from the Mahānirvāṇī Akhāṛā. And so he also got Mahāmaṇḍaleśvar there, and he’s in Croatia, and the people are so happy, and they are like a Hindu Dharma, and they are learning about the Vedas and talking. In Slovenia, Hindu Dharma is also acknowledged. The Austrians, still they are going like this, I have to twist them. When I came there, they said if it’s about 300 people, we can acknowledge the Hindu Dharma. That time was not many. When more and more Hindus were coming from India, then they said 7,000. After, they said 25,000. And then, I think they are about, I don’t know, but about a hundred thousand, then we can acknowledge. But we know our problem, this may be a problem, but here we can do it. And this has been registered in the United Nations in the religious department, so here it has become open for me, what I am saying. So this is very good for you. He is my disciple, you can understand. He has come for yoga, and he is doing very well. He is very grateful. So, yoga, what can I tell you about yoga? I can’t tell you anything. In front of His Excellency, what can I talk? So let’s have a bhajan. Which bhajan? Okay, any. Who will sing? Anyone sing? Dr. Śāntījī? Mic? Loudspeaker? You can go there. She is from Austria, Dr. Shanti. Now she is a sannyāsī. She was a dentist. And for 13 years in the Himalayas, she has researched our Guru Paramparā. Sir, will you go there? Okay. God bless you. Push the towel and then close. Push some towel. Sitārā, can I start again? Yes. Yeah. You sing, Ma’am, Śānti. Pranose atipyara, Pranose atipyara.
