Keep your Anamaya Kosha clean

The essence of life is found in pure nourishment and consistent spiritual practice. A slight change in any action, like churning butter, alters its result, just as our actions shape life's flavor. Humans must not be proud; all creatures possess consciousness and feel pain. True health begins with Annamaya Kośa, the physical sheath. One must reduce food intake by seventy-five percent, consuming only the highest quality. Impure food from taste alone creates disease, while wild animals eating naturally remain healthy. Practice yoga in daily life every day. Begin by relaxing the body and mind, then proceed to prāṇāyāma to cleanse toxins. Finally, use mantra japa to steady the mind and reach a state of peace. This process balances the body and mind, connecting one to the divine energy. Purify your nourishment to enable spiritual progress.

"O man, don’t be proud. Don’t think that we humans are the best."

"Practice your mantra with your mālā, but regularize your brain completely, and you will see how your heart will feel very happy and very healthy."

Now we ask His Excellency, Mr. Paramjit Mann, if he can say a few words. Ādarnīya Svāmījī and my dear brothers and sisters. First of all, I would like to congratulate all of you on the celebration of the thirty years of Yoga in Daily Life. I would like to give you my best wishes and thank all of you and the city of Novo Mesto for making this possible. Just before coming to this room, Svāmījī and I were discussing a few things. And one of them was, well, to put it bluntly, how the butter does not taste good anymore. So we were talking about the reasons behind it. Of course, the mechanization and the modern dairy industry was one reason, but then we realized that even the cow milk’s butter we get in the Indian villages also does not taste the same. Actually, I am quite fond of butter, so I kept after the question. For the last couple of years, I have been looking into how to get a tasty butter. And I found a very surprising thing, because, of course, all of you would know that the traditional method in India is first to turn milk into yogurt, then churn the yogurt, then the butter comes up, then you melt it and make ghee. So I followed all the procedures of this ghee making in my village, and they were doing it as they used to do it a hundred years back. Except for the last part, that when they would churn the yogurt, because it is heavy and more difficult to churn, they would put a small mortar, and the thing would rotate in one direction very fast. Well, that should not have changed the difference, but then I came across a scientific paper, actually, on the issue of how to take out fat content from the milk. Though I don’t claim to be a scientist, what that scientist told me was that a unidirectional fast churning heats up the molecules of fat much more than a slower and twin-directional churning. So this is not only about butter; this is not only about healthy food. I feel, and when I was talking to Svāmījī, we felt that it is the basic fact of life that when any action is changed even slightly, it has consequences which we may not be aware of. Just like the churning of milk makes the butter taste different, similarly, any action in life will have consequences which we cannot see, but will make the flavor of life become different. What is the thoughtful action? What is the correct action? Svāmījī is in a much better position to talk about it. I am just a diplomat, so I am hardly qualified to talk about those matters. So, fully acknowledging that today the things which you have come to hear, I am no expert in that. It is Svāmījī who will tell you. So, with that, I will hand over the rest of the proceedings to Svāmījī, who will be guiding you. And once again, thank you very much. Śukriyā, Dhanyavād. Where is the prasād? Yes, something more. Thank you. I will be here three days. Maybe we meet again. Good. Where do we come from? I was talking about this friend, and we came to the ghee. But this ghee is something for our life, but that kind of ghee which we are now producing is not healthy. Well, we were sitting together for a few minutes here with His Excellency, and everyone is talking about their country. Not the politics, but the life, and this is what the subject comes to my mind, and I think I should complete this, so that’s why we are not giving the subject for. Svāmījī’s lecture, of course, we remain to the subject, but that subject could be merged into what comes in my mind. Of course, first, towards our health. Health is not everything, but without health, there is nothing. In Āyurveda, it is said the first happiness... there is no word in your language, or in the English language, or in the Spanish language. Your language has 26 or 27 letters. And Sanskrit has 52 letters. The 26th alphabet of the letters is enough. Then why are we using 56? We try to shorten and shorten and shorten. But every word, the sound, that influences our brain. No one can compare with God. And we will not compare with that. I was flying about a month ago already; time has gone very quickly. And from Europe over the crossing of America, it was about 12–13 hours and in such a long flight journey, I was thinking and observing, watching a tiny ant in the airplane. There are so many people I’m observing them, but I was more concentrated on the ant. And can we compare our thoughts, our knowledge, our research, our scientific things to bring in front of us? Let’s say our body and the little ant’s body. They are dancing, also they are loving each other, they are giving babies, eggs, many things. They are laughing, they are doing everything, but it is so tiny. So I was thinking all the time on that way with the aeroplane, so then I said. Oh, human, don’t be proud of being thee as a human. Believe in God, trust in God, know God, etc. Now, our eyes and a tiny ant’s eyes, we have all the symptoms and systems in our body in our eyes, and they also have the same thing. They are listening also. And how big nerves they have. How it is going on? Who made that? And that only can be the God. Even we can’t look at the nerves and eyes and many things. The parts of the body of the ant, they are active. They give the babies the ants’ eggs, and they are watching when the baby will come out, or a mosquito, and the nice sound of the mosquito. He comes and makes nice music near your ear. Now, where are we? Oh, man. Don’t be proud. Don’t think that we humans are the best. We are, but we are not. I think they, in their way, every creature is loving and praying to God. That we have to find out, and when we will find out this, then we are one with God. We step on the ant and we kill the ant, or we break its legs. They have pain. They have the same pain as when your leg is broken. Everything they have, these feelings: when they are hungry, when they have enough eating, they are searching for the water. So, O man, with whom can we compare? How to know? So we cannot compare anything. With God. And God gave us also, for what? We got such a brain. And everything is in our brain, and from the brain is the nervous system. But also, what is in the body is balancing, keeping, and giving to the brain. And that is what I call yoga, the human science. Find out this, and so the first part of our life, what we should do, we should have good nourishment. And what we are eating, including myself, we shall reduce 75% of our meal. 75% of what you are eating, you should reduce. That is, that means it is more than enough, because the Creator has given us to gain everything from thyself. And these five tattvas, what we have, and this is what we call, we know all we are talking often, and first is the nutrition, that’s called Annamaya Kośa. Here, "anna" means all what we are eating, but it is said, not any killed things. For the humans, then they will have that light of God’s consciousness. Taking drugs, alcohol, beer, etc., definitely, 100%, we are damaging our brain centers. Also, to keep our lungs healthy. To have healthy air. And of course, we are purposely destroying our lungs, but who said, "Don’t do it?" And from this 75%, 25% is the highest quality, which we need in our body. So, Annamaya Kośa, try to take as little as you can. Don’t count your muscles. These muscles are not for you, but you should have muscles, which naturally will be enough. There is a word by a disciple, Sanyāsī. He is in Tasmania, Australia. And he is very thin, really. He is about 65%. How he is working and how much weight he can take up. Vivek Purī and Ānandī together will not be able to lift up from the ground. So there is a mental power, the mind that is energy in the brain. And for the people who are doing, what we call, the sky, the snow sky, or running, or lifting weight, etc., it is in the brain. Now we have one of the best. Parts of our body which we like, it is a very little part of our body, but we enjoy it, and that is just our tongue and gums, mouth, that’s all. Any kind of taste in the mouth, but where it goes, near the vocal cords. No, any more taste. Either ice cream, or the chili, or butter, or coffee. In the stomach, they have no taste. But sometimes the chilies, and that is a very, very, very important, the chilies. Many diseases that we have in our intense diet, that we are not using spicy. And you don’t know what is spicy. You know only salt or sweet or ketchup. That’s all. What have you in your eating? It’s not taste at all. There is nothing. But we are feeding, and we are feeding that which we have a strong working. Compare with your house pet. Your house pet has the same quality as you, the same illness, the same behavior, everything. Your pets are behaving like you are. And when, for one or two days, they can’t eat, they will be very, very upset, hungry, everything. And that can’t walk properly, your house pet. If for a few days there was no drink and no food, when you go walking with your pet, it will fall down. Now, the same animal which was born in the forest somewhere, in the mountains or somewhere, and living there, every day, they don’t get anything. They don’t get an animal to kill every day. Even for ten days, they didn’t eat anything. But when they get some rabbit or something, then how quick they are running. The speed that doesn’t think of the stomach, hunger, and thirst is more pure and the brain. So this is the difference between us humans and our habits: we destroy all the pets. You have cancer, your dog. You have back problems, you have stomach problems, many things, but those animals in the forest, they don’t have this disease, and if they have, they heal; they don’t eat anything. So our health is depending very, very much from our so-called the Annamaya Kośa. It means all physically what we feed into our body: water, fruits, bread, butter, alcohol, what do you have? This, spaghetti, etc., etc. And that is called Annamaya Kośa, and this Annamaya Kośa is very impure because the good things you think have only in the test, then after it’s not anymore, and that is a problem if you open your stomach. Now, the doctors can give you some injection, and then you are awakened. You can see, and then the stomach opens. Your stomach, your intestines, and everything comes out. What many things? And a good smell comes back to your nose and mouth. If you said, "Ah, this is your Annamaya Kośa," and this is the meat eater, or eating always different things, they have a problem. But those who are eating fresh grass in the forest. Their colds, when they come, you can hold in your hand. It is not a very bad smell. Does it matter from cow or buffalo or elephant or the rabbit or the deer? They get pure food. And they have no smell. A little bit, but it’s not that you have to vomit. Because their nourishment is very pure. It’s in your body and everything. You know the elephant’s trunk? Did you smell the elephant’s dung? Can you raise your hand up? Someone who knows? Yes, one, two, and three, and four, and I, but I can’t smell. Sorry. So when you have the flu, then take the dung of the elephant, and you break it, smell it, and put a little piece of wood or fire on it, and inhale that smoke from the dung of the elephant. Even your asthma, you will get rid of it. Yes. An elephant will not eat even if you want to give it. An elephant will eat what he likes to eat. But what we are eating only tastes for our tongue and gums, that’s all. So, the Annamaya Kośa that we have to keep very, very pure, clean, and we practice. If we want to live long, happy, healthy lives and achieve our divine path, then we should practice yoga in daily life every day. If you have no time to practice, then it means you don’t have time for eating. You can quit your eating and sit down and put your exercises into yoga, but not those postures where you are twisting your whole body. That’s why we have yoga in daily life, physical, mental, and social health, and spirituality. You are listening, you are practicing, but not every day. How many are healthy with us here in this hall? Completely healthy, please, can you raise your hand up? Very healthy. Okay, one boy, one girl. Okay, you are not healthy, but it’s okay. I know, I can see on the face: healthy, healthy. Okay, so few, so from hundreds of the people, not even ten hands were up. Why? When you have this yoga in daily life, because we really don’t practice. So, I give you one year time. Do every day āsanas, our yoga and daily lives. Slowly, slowly. You must not make your head stand. You must not twist your body completely, but do it gently, with your body. The first principle of yoga in daily life is that you just relax to calm down your body, your mind, and the stress of the day. Just lie down. Then you know that we have our yoga in life exercises. Time to time, relax. So after that, when the whole mechanism of the body is getting warm, then we should come to the prāṇāyāma, and that prāṇāyāma will take all toxins from the body. It will clean our lungs. It will definitely clean our nervous system. Our intense times, all the joints of the body. After that, then you can calm down your Ātmā, your Jīva. That your jīva now is in balance. If you go straight to meditation, it will not be enough. So then, when you come to the meditation, sometimes you are lost. Means either you sleep or you have no more thoughts, or some kind of thoughts are there. Therefore, it is called mantra japa. So, practice your mantra with your mālā, but regularize your brain completely, and you will see how your heart will feel very happy and very healthy. So, this is what I am doing wherever I don’t know when I can. Traveling sometimes is not possible. But you are, you can. You are not traveling every day in an airplane. Maybe you are traveling with your car or your cycle. Or walking to your work, that time when you go with a mantra, now what is for you, mantra? What name? How is it? What is for you that mantra? And you become that mantra. You become the mantra. You have the divine mantra "Oṁ Sohaṁ." You become the Oṁ Sohaṁ. You become the Oṁ Sohaṁ, and when you are complete, your brain is relaxed, peaceful. Where are you going so quickly, boy and girl? Saryo, so then it’s coming, that the peace. And bliss. What Gurujī always used to say: peace and bliss are the result of satsaṅg. So then, when you are in the satsaṅg, then all organs of our body are becoming very calm, and spiritual energy is inside. So this is what we can do. We cannot complete that we do for God, but still we can balance our body and mind, which is very important. And don’t run quickly. Don’t think that in five days my brain will be perfect. You can see how Holy Gurujī’s was. And in Prague, in one center, they were also testing Holy Gurujī’s brain in meditation. And one and a half years before, in Prague, they were testing me with different noises and this and that. But the more noise, the more I was relaxed. They wrote the letter, "What was happening?" And the Oṁ, when it was the Oṁ chanting, that I was... A little younger than today, and I used to practice, so my Oṁ was nearly three minutes. And then they were checking that all the vibration, a very nice vibration, collecting towards the spine. It’s like when the rain is coming and water is then collecting into one creek. And it flows towards the river. And so, from each cakra at that time, energy is flowing there. But you don’t feel unpleasant. You don’t feel any kind of movements. But there is vibration, very peaceful. I have that picture with whom I found it now. Someone gave it to me. So, it was yoga in Delhi life many times. It was during that Soviet Union time. We were chanting mantras and bhajans and thinking of meditation or prayer, and we were testing what changes in your body, in your brain, etc. It was changing. So it was not fanatic, it was reality, and they had nothing against that reality, yes. So you have, you have with you the yoga and daily life, and above this all, there is something: the energy, the light, and that is Guru Kṛpā. We don’t understand, and many times Mahāprabhujī, Gurujī, Devapurījī, they forgive everything because they will not count those restlessnesses of your life. But we are under that center of that light of that Gurudeva. I saw many things now about Devapurījī, and near the Kathu where Devapurījī was living under two bushes, the tree, bush tree. And that is written in Līlā Amṛt. And the people did not tell me, but luckily I found it, and so many, many things. So what are they telling the village people about Devapurījī? That’s called abduta. Abduta is like, abdut is like incarnation, and for him, it doesn’t matter. He will sleep anywhere. He will not sleep in anyone’s house. He is under the trees. Animals go with him, and he will do many, many things, healing many people. I was there a month ago. They invited me twice to that village, and they were so happy that they found me because of the holy Gurujīs. Their whole village are the holy Gurujīs’ disciples and Ālak Purujīs. So there is something. Such a person, if he touches one stone and is gone, that stone will have, for a long, long eternity, this energy. But we don’t understand. We don’t see. Similarly, like what is happening with us, what kind of illness is developing in our body? We don’t know. But after a long time, when it’s unpleasant and physical, the feelings, then we say, "Oh God, I have this and this." So in this, we humans know only a little bit. But the Supreme knows everything. Each and every entity is the creation of that God. And even there are creatures which we can’t see with our eyes, but they are moving, they are flying, and they bite us. And after being bitten, we are itching. It’s called the sand bee fly, sand fly. The sand flies were in Australia, and you don’t see anything, but they know that it is itching. So the karma yogīs from Australia came in their suitcase, in their clothes they brought these flies. And all our rooms are full of those sand flies of Australia. In the room of Umāpurī of Mānsā Devī, when they come, it’s like a fog, like a fog. Now, which is not visible to our eye, such a small... how are they producing the children? Which organ is that? How big is that? So, this is the miracle of the Supreme, and therefore we shall take the science. Of yoga in daily life, you will achieve what you want to achieve, but slowly, slowly, slowly. But try to clean up your Annamaya Kośa. So throw away junk food from the kitchen and from the fridge, only take a little but healthy things. If you cannot do this, you can’t proceed further spiritually, so we become holy. If we are purifying our Annamaya Kośa. And Annamaya Kośa does not have as much power as Prāṇamaya Kośa. Prana is the life. Maybe Prana is our soul. The prāṇa. And that’s why we sometimes call it prāṇa, that when it goes out of the body, we say the prāṇa is gone. The soul is gone. So we don’t know if the soul is the prāṇa or the prāṇa is the soul. Find out. And so what we will continue to know is that we all, from the tiny creature to the elephant and giraffe, they are all soul, we are all one. And connecting very much with the water. And that’s why you people in your country are also saying, and what is zivljenje? Life. That’s all. So, how can we compare with this? Boda, Arjuna. And we said, "Jal jahan jagadīś." In India we said, "Jal jahan jagadīś." Where there is water, there is God. And where there is God, there is our soul, and our soul is one that we will continue tomorrow or next days. The subject I will have this concrete in next weekend, I think, in Prague. So, if it is possible, don’t forget. But I hope that you got the ticket because it will be full. So, you have enough yoga practice. Āsana, prāṇāyāmas, but how is your prāṇa? Check your prāṇa. And the prāṇa is whatever we are taking physically in our body: water, fruits, etc. And that creates that prāṇa. And so if you take alcohol, your prāṇa is destroyed. And if you take something positive, then your prāṇa will grow. And that was what we were talking about with His Excellency, the Ambassador of India. So we were talking about signs of what you call the ghee, the butter. But this butter which we are using here, or you are in your country, you are taking, that is not healthy. It is the same butter; it is the same thing. But there is a different process. You have the milk, but now you have to turn the milk into yogurt. And what we are doing, we are just churning and taking the butter from the milk. That one is not rife; that’s not. Like an embryo is lost from the mother’s body, the embryo, the child falls out. And therefore, this kind of butter which we are using here, always we say now we should not eat too much, and we have fat and this and that. Now, that milk is turning into yogurt, but that milk is mother’s milk. You have mostly cows, but what are you giving the cow? That is how that milk is. And from that milk, how will the butter come? So we know when we have a little baby, then the mother is feeding, chest feeding. So whatever the mother is eating is going to the baby’s body. If you eat an orange, it goes into the child through the mother’s milk, the orange. So the mother should be very careful about what she is eating. And they are doing, of course. So now, this milk of the mother turns into the child. So the milk of the cow turns into the curd. But what is the cow eating? And now we are giving artificial feed to the cows, and you know how the cows are suffering. They can’t walk properly. The cows, what we call out, aita, they cannot sit down. And if she’s down, she looks like this, one leg up, and now she can’t get up. She may die; she cannot get up. So, in Australia, near our ashram in Dengong, there is a farmer, and here there are about 1,000 to 2,000 cows. And the cows, they are trained. So they are in line, going to the milk where they get the milk from the cow. There is no man. The cow is coming, the door goes off. Another cow is waiting. Invite the machine; they are washing the cow. Then they are sucking the milk with the machine, and again they clean the outer of the cow, and she goes out. So really, it’s like you go somewhere in the line for the market. But the owner of the cow said, "In the night, naughty boys come and they pull them down, the cows. They can’t get up." So, there are some people also, but previously it was not like this with the cows. And so our feeder should be very, very natural, organic. That milk is the best, and then you have to put it into the yogurt. But how? You have to boil the milk, and then you put it in for sleeping. So, Hungarian said, "The milk, the yogurt, this is not yogurt. That’s a sleeping milk, yeah, the yogurt." And that yogurt has to relax, becomes a yogurt, but it has to relax, developing certain, I don’t know, in the in the yogurt, but it needs... Then you are churning, as I said, not like a machine, not like that. Then it kills so many bacteria of the yogurt, so it has to go this way. Then comes the better milk out, the butter, and that water again melts and then becomes the pure milk of ghee. And that you can put for your eyes. You shall eat. You will have no fat or anything. You will have the strength. And that ghee needs the brain, but not too much. It’s every day, a little, but every day. So that is a process that you should get. We can do it here. We can bring again the instruments, and we will put them here, and Umapurī will do it, and you will stand up and you will see. The taste of the butter is completely different. So similarly, this is what is developing in our body, and which kind of food we should eat and how much. So, prāṇamaya kośa and annamaya kośa, the prāṇamaya kośa is strongest, but we should have a good annamaya kośa, otherwise you will have more fat in the body, many problems. So, eat that butter or that kind of ghee. The melted butter. We come after to the prāṇa, prāṇamaya kośa, then comes manomaya kośa, how our mind will function, and then we will know after. Where is the soul? How is the soul? That’s it. You are all in one. But you don’t understand why. I will explain it to you then. So, wish you all the best. I was very, very happy to see you. I think we were in this hall, and bless you.
