The Oneness of Yoga and Humanity

An inaugural address on the science of yoga and human oneness.

"Yoga is the science of humanity. It existed even before the creation of humans."

"All the human is only one... Color and height do not matter. Only one, that is a human."

The lecturer speaks at the opening of a Yoga in Daily Life center, presenting yoga as the primordial, unifying science of consciousness. He explores cosmic origins from resonant sound to light, asserts the fundamental oneness of humanity beyond divisions, and explains the human purpose of self-knowledge and protection. The talk includes Vedic prayers, historical anecdotes, and practical guidance to use yoga for health and positive societal action.

Dear sisters and brothers, respected Mayor of the city, respected President of Yoga in Daily Life Slovenia, Today is one of the best days for us, for the opening ceremony of this Yoga in Daily Life Center. We are inaugurating this center. But what do we know about yoga? Yoga is the science of humanity. It existed even before the creation of humans. India is the cradle of the entire world. The science, the nature of yoga, is given. By traveling through India, we have to understand what that yoga is and how it came to us. In the creation of this Earth, in this place in the universe, the Earth and the water—if we see this, it is a very tiny dot. With a pencil, we write. We know we are on Earth. We know we have the biggest oceans, different oceans. But all these oceans and what we call the Earth are not visible in this universe, that of which we are proud. This, our Earth... last night, many visions came to me. That which we are proud of, oh humans, we should not be proud of it. It is the space. That space is endless. We do not know where the beginning is or where the end is. Where was the beginning? For what? Why was I talking about that knowledge, the science of Sanskrit and the great Indian sense? Still, there are many. We call them the holy ones. Do you understand what holiness is? That is very difficult to understand. Anyhow, let us go further. It is endless—Ananta. Ananta means endless. Nothing but only space. The second is Consciousness. That Consciousness is also beyond space. Yoga is that science which has created and brought onto this spot of space, the space as our Earth and ocean. Is that the Consciousness, or is it space? What is the first? We cannot say, but it is said there are principles in that space. It is called balance, it is called harmony: balance, harmony, and the Consciousness. These are three, but nothing is visible. But we do not understand, even now, the balance on Earth and the balance in space; still, we cannot understand. The awareness may come after many, many Yugas. In our era, where this one sun exists, until where is the limitation of this light of this sun which we have? After comes another one. So it is said, we know, many Yogīs know, it is called: there are fourteen ends of the sun. Fourteen. Seven worlds are below and seven above. Within this sun, that is all. But further, there are said to be 2,100 such suns in the universe. And that Yogī who can go so far and bring that science, or whatever we call it in this world—what is that? Put the seven below, seven above. This is a fourteen which is dwelling in our sun. Then we do not know how many are there, but a Yogī who could go there is twenty thousand one hundred. Such a Sūrya is there. After that, the consciousness of that Yogī will dissolve and cannot come back. But the Vedas are written: until there you can achieve. Now, in this, there is space, consciousness, and three principles. There it is said there was nothing, there was nothing, then comes the sound. In this, we have the five elements. And these five elements: the space, the fire, the air, the water, and the earth. There comes that resonance, and everything is coming through the resonance, holding through the resonance, and dissolving through the resonance. So it is not the Rūpa of Parabrahma; that resonance is the highest and supreme. No humans, no animals, no oceans, nothing—but that resonance. And on that resonance, everything is balancing. We were listening to one instrument, and all of us were sitting peacefully and listening. That resonance did not ask us or tell us; it did not explain to us. That resonance, so there it comes within this. It is called Svayambhū. Svayambhū means it is He who has manifested everything. Svayam means itself, and Bhū means creation. No mother, no father, nothing and nothing. So first appears the resonance, and from this resonance develops or comes what is called the fire, the light. The resonance and the light, and that light is very much something for all of us. The word... I forgot. Let us say that you are here and you have here the Christian religion. The Christian religion was not so long. The Muslims were also not so long. The Buddha is also not long, but it was Sanātana Dharma. But that is another thing. Why do you light the candle? In the temple or in the church, either the whole day the light is burning, or at the time of the ceremony we have the flames. Also in other religions and in the Hindu religion, there is only one light. Many do not know why they are doing it. So it is Tamaso Mā Jyotir Gamaya, the Vedas said. Tamaso Mā Jyotir Gamaya: "Lead us from darkness to light." Amṛtam gamaya: "Lead us from mortality to immortality." Asato mā sattva gamaya: "Lead us from unreality to reality," say the Vedas. So that is very... from the beginning, the resonance, and from resonance is the light. And then from this is the only one, and that is called Svayambhū, as Śiva. And this Śiva is in the whole, our whole Earth, whole globe, on the whole ocean. Just now in Turkey, they were digging, and in the city of Konya, their old city was there, and they are digging. Many things came there, and it became a Śiva temple, and the scientists declared five thousand seven hundred years that Śiva temple was existing from there. The dream that there was no Islam there. There were no Christians, there was no other any, because it is the oneness. We have created ourselves different. Now, that came from this sound, Oṁ. And that was in the sitting posture meditation. Śiva appears in that, and the word given: Yog. Yog means union. To be oneness. And after that, out of that, He said 8.4 million different kinds of creatures existing on this Earth, and they call it the three: Jalchar, Thalchar, and Nabchar—the life in the water; second, on the earth. How many creations are on the earth? Many, many. And the third in the space. They are born in the space, flying in the space, and dying there. And so, from these three, there is only one. Jalchar, Thalchar, Nabchar: water, earth, and the space. From this, let us come to the human. We are one; we are not two. Now, the modern scientists were searching and searching, and they said there is only one: the human. Not a Mexican, not a Chinese, not a European. All which is human does not matter. Color and height do not matter. Only one, that is a human. So we develop, and we are making duality, but there is a oneness. All the human is only one. So from 8.4 millions, one is that human. And it is said, the first human came in the Himālaya. And that is called the Kailāś Parvat. The place we call now, what? Tibet. And now Tibet is only a little part of China. So, there was that first came Śiva, but they did not say Śiva came, they said first was the human, there came near the Kailāśa mountain or the China's part of this. We can give more. Once it was only Europe, then it was Yugoslavia, then it became Slovenia, and then it became a part of Slovenia. And the head is the president, the vice-president, and the mayor of the city. So he is a ruler; it is under his guidance in that area, this district, and your mayor of the city. And in his city there are people, so there is a husband and wife. And in the husband and wife, in the wife, there is one more. And so the creation begins, but human is a human. We call only a human, we do not say this one and this one and that one, the humans. Above this all, that one balancing principle, and that is called yoga. It is not... every exercise is not only breathing left and right, but yoga is something to know thyself. Who am I? I am not this body. I am not this blood. I am not these bones. I am not these Nāḍīs. I am not an organ, I am not a voice, but I am. Who am I? Know the self. Who am I? That is the knowledge of yoga. The life which we call the 8.4 million different creatures. But humans have something which is the highest consciousness. And therefore, the human is the highest one, and therefore they should not kill or disrupt anything of others. Otherwise, we are here, we are eating and sleeping. Something more than working, nothing else, but for which purpose the Creator has created us. God made so many, so many in our body, the system. We have the eyes, we have the nose. We have five elements and five physicals. These are ten. Why did God give this? What is the purpose for which God has created two legs for humans? Why not ten? Why did God give such a brain? And now, God made a good brain, but this brain became my mind. Which kind of madness? Throwing the bombs. Killing the people, God did not want that. But we did not understand that we are human. We are protectors, not destroyers. So through this meditation, it becomes a meditation. And meditation is always bringing our brain again to the positive waves in our brain. We can do very many things in a positive way for ourselves and for our people. City, and you have here a mayor. Now, the mayor has that brand. He will do good work for you. He will show you in four years what he has done, that he has done great work. As he will use his brain, that positive power, and for your country, he will become the president or prime minister. Why not? Now it is in his hands. What does that mean? That power, the force, everything from your brain, they will search you. Where is the mayor of this city? And they will say, "Please come, we need your help." What? Not money. Money he has enough, and if not, then it will come in for years. I mean, not for him, but for his whole city. But it is that knowledge, that power, that humbleness, that kindness that we need. So, yoga is something which brings that power which God has given to humans, and for that, first is that: health is not everything, but everything is nothing without health. Health is our best wealth. And therefore, we shall utilize the yoga postures and Prāṇāyāmas, and relaxation and concentration, then we will develop out of us something. You have one cow, a beautiful cow, grazing in the field, a very nice green grass. But how does it happen that a cow brings very clean, white, tasteful, good milk? It can be like some person who is showing one hand is that, and then the other hand is the other. So the cow eats green, and comes milk white. Yes, yes, that is it. So you have that power, that knowledge. You can change everything. So what we have, we can get through the yoga, or just good health. In the meditation, then there will come beautiful, beautiful thoughts in us. So yoga is the science of the humans, and yoga is oneness. And yoga is the first; there is a God, and after, everything. So, there, yoga is only one, and God is only one. But we need God everywhere. Now, what you call the mayor is called the lord of that place. So we all, we are one. We have the same body, same eyes, same stomach, everything. And we are one. So you and me, different in the body. We are all one, one in all and all in one. You and me, no difference. Why? How? There is an ocean here somewhere, or the Adriatic coast. The sea, of course, that is one of the best. So the whole ocean, the seven oceans and all, is one water. And everything, that water comes from that ocean, separating from there, become little drops: the fogs, the rain. The rain, coming, flowing on earth, coming together to the crease. Then the rivers again to the ocean become one, so we are all one. But we cannot unite now. We are from the one. And we are one, and we will be one, but our destiny guided us in different directions. What is pure? Good water came from the rain. And we get the water to drink. Same rain water, same it was. But that went to the canalization. That is also the water. But we cannot drink that one. Why? Because the quality is that different now. And the pure drinking water is of different qualities. So, as humans, we are one. Tiger, we are one. Snake, we are one. Not the body, but that soul. But the quality of the snake is different, and the quality of the tiger is different. Quality of humans is different, etc., etc. But that inside it is that reflection of God is within everyone. So we are searching to come out into the divine pure light, which will call us one day. That resonance coming to the purity is the light. Now you will say, "Oh God, how long will we need this?" Who knows? Maybe you had to be born many times, or you get one key. The Gurudev gives you the key, so you are going on the right path. Our karmas will be down. Example: there were four people who went on a wild safari where there were tigers and lions, etc. So they came with the helicopter, and they were sitting about 15 tigers. So one had a gun in the hand, and one camera. The helicopter came down, and he just jumped out to make a photo, but the tigers jumped quickly. What happened? He, because he was very close, jumped in the helicopter, and they came like this, and the helicopter went up. They were doing, but have been tough. Everything remained down. The helicopter took you away. So similarly, we have that karma, then like this. But who knows? Suddenly that helicopter will be there, will take you up. So what we call the master, the guru, whatever you call, but there are many gurus, sometimes. Their helicopter is not functioning, so we must be ready. So it is a yoga that can guide you to Brahmaloka, do not worry. So yoga is that for the highest of the highest. And no duality of religions or anything. But people, still, people are not happy. There are some people who make exercises or some kind of training; they are hanging on the rock. So one monkey was sitting there, and the monkey was observing a man climbing and sweating and holding the, what you call, the rope, and he cannot climb, he cannot. So the monkey said, "Man, you are not born for climbing like this. I know you were in..." In a previous life, my grandfather, but now I am the monkey. But you are human now, so you need not hang on these mountains. So, you know, many people, different kinds of exercises, they are born to kill themselves. That is not so. We, we shall... Practice yoga for our good health, for a good life, so that we can do good work and we do good things. Do the exercise. So, you know what is the, what sometimes people say, "I do not believe God." And there are many things they do not believe, so there is one story. One story is that one Sādhu came to Rajasthan. And there was this meeting, and that master went to the king's house, the palace. And the king respected him, welcomed him, and asked him to stay in his palace. So what happens? This time came, now like the sun is setting. Setting, and someone should bring more gear oil here. So, Swāmī said to the king, "Please come if you want for the prayer, okay?" The king came. That Swāmī had the picture of his master. So he put the picture in front of him and made him hear the light. And he began to pray. The king said, "What are you doing?" And the king asked him, "Where do you begin?" I am praying. What are you praying? I am praying to my master. This picture cannot be a master. This is only paper. This can be thrown, burned. This is not God. The master said, "Your Highness, if you do not like it, you can go or stay here. For me, it is my God, and so on." He said, "It cannot be God." He said, "Let my prayer be finished." So after the prayer, the king went away and the master went into his room. The next day, there was a meeting. The king invited all his people to listen to the lecture of the master. Now, the king is sitting on his throne, Swāmījī is sitting on his Āsana, and other people were sitting. And that Swāmī looked to the king, and Swāmī said to the king, "Highness, who is this picture?" The king got up, he stood up, and said, "It is my, the Highness, my father." He said, he called his disciple, "Take this picture down and step on them and tear it." The king got up with his sword. Mahārāj, Swāmījī, being aware, how can you say this? He said, "Who is that?" He said, "My father." "It cannot be your father, it is a paper." The king was looking down. "Your Highness, Swāmījī, holy Swāmījī, forgive me. Yes, yesterday you said for my master. It cannot be your master. It is only a piece of paper, so your father is only paper and is not here anymore." That king, he got the knowledge from him, and then that king changed the name of that Sādhu Yogī, and he said, "You are my master and my dear master, can I give you another name? Okay, if you want." Then he gave him the name. What was it? Do you know? Yes, but you must have the willpower in front of the king to say to throw down the picture of his father. So the words, they can change everything. Which word you will use? Which lecture you will go? Śabda, the sound, the word. And we shall take the word from our heart, and first we should know how heavy this word is. And then I should say. And in that word should be that power, that truth, that sorry, so is that so? You all will become now a great Yogī. Now, okay, that is it. Go in the ocean or in the, what is that, link? Yeah, water is water, no problem. That is it. So, thank you very much, and I wish you all the best, and good health, happiness, joy, and long life. And this center should be for all to come and practice yoga in daily life, so that yoga and life continue here for many years. And you know these big mountains? Around the whole mountain, there are Yogīs and the life people. It is more than 1% of the population of Slovenia that practices yoga in daily life. And now it is more than before, which we were counting. But our aim is, first, good health. Best health is God's path, not saying, "I want to see God now, I want to see God." Where are you going to search for God? Sometimes I am flying with the aeroplane, which is about 14 hours and about 11 to 12 thousand meters height, up and down. All is blue, and I see maybe here is somewhere God. No, neither there nor here. Then where is it? Within ourself. We are that, because that God is one. Similarly, we are all one. We have different duties, so someone has this profession, that a profession. Finally, at the end, we will go on that one path. That is it. Thank you, and thank you very much to our respected mayor of the city. And I hope he is practicing yoga. If not, then it is one window to one window. Yes, thank you. Thank you.
