A Welcome on Guru Pūrṇimā

Guru Pūrṇimā is celebrated wherever the eternal Vedic dharma is practiced. This sacred festival is observed at thousands of centers, imparting teachings for daily life. The Guru's feet are the supreme pilgrimage, ferrying one across worldly existence. Sitting in the Guru's presence on this day bestows the nectar of knowledge and speech. It marks a new beginning where devotees take vows for spiritual practice.

Reflect on the purpose of coming here. Conversation can happen at home. The human birth is rare and uncertain for the future. The soul can realize the Supreme only through this human form. If effort is lacking, simply sit and meditate on the Gurudev. True education makes one human, leading from darkness to the light of the soul and the Divine. This is the education taught by the sages, which is now absent.

"Speak as little as possible. Reflect on why you have come here, what is the very purpose of coming here."

"Education is that which makes a human truly human. Education leads from thought to light, from the light of the soul, to the light of Īśvara—that is true education."

Oṃ Namo Śrī Prabhu Dīpa Nārāyaṇāya. Oṃ Namo. We are all servants, surrendering to the refuge of the Lord. We are all servants, surrendering to the refuge of Hari. Oṃ Namo to the revered Lord Dīpa Nārāyaṇa. Beloved devotees of Śrī Dīpa Nārāyaṇa Bhagavān’s most revered Gurudev, a heartfelt welcome to all of you in the Oṃ Viśvadīpa Guru Kula Āśrama. Every year, Guru Pūrṇimā is celebrated here as well. This year too, it is being observed in all our āśramas—Nepal, Bolāgurā, Jāḍan, Jaipur, Delhi, Kailāśa, Khāṭū, and others. In every corner of Hindustān, wherever there are saints, great souls, and revered gurus, wherever there are temples and sacred places, and even beyond India, where our great personalities have gone, from the beginningless and endless time, the eternal dharma has been practiced—the eternal dharma, the Vedic culture is propagated throughout the world. In all those places, with every breath, the Guru Pūrṇimā festival is being celebrated. At more than 35,000 centers across India, the teachings of yoga are imparted for daily life under the guidance of our revered Gurudev. Today, Guru Pūrṇimā will also be observed there. We are all very fortunate to witness this sacred festival. But according to the tradition of the revered Deva-Devī, Lord Śiva in the form of Śaṅkara, the Lord of Kailāśa, and the separate Purījī Mahārāj or the separate Purījī Siddha Pīṭha, the revered Deva-Devī Purījī Mahārāj is worshipped, venerated as the Satgurudev, the Brahmalīna, the emperor of Hindu Dharma, Śrī Svāmī Mādhvānanda. Yes, Mahārāj, the sacred and pure dust of the feet of all our revered Gurujans is present in this āśrama, and it is our great fortune that we are immersed in this dust. It is said that there are 68 tīrthas in the feet of the Guru; the Vedas, Purāṇas, and Śāstras all affirm that the feet of Gurudev are equivalent to... There is no greater tīrtha than this. The meaning of tīrtha is a place from where one is ferried across the ocean of worldly existence, and that is the true tīrtha. And a place becomes a tīrtha only by destiny. On the day of Guru Pūrṇimā, sitting in the presence of your revered Gurudev, one attains the nectar of speech, the nectar of the feet, the nectar of knowledge, the five nectars, and so forth. The one who is called the primordial Amṛta is consumed, and after receiving the prasāda and blessings, the new year begins for the devotees and disciples on the second day of Gurupūrṇimā. They take a vow, saying, "O Lord, from today onwards I will do this many mālā repetitions, from today onwards I will perform this appropriate task..." No, I will not do that. I am renouncing this object; I am adopting this rule. You all must know that five years ago, in this very pavilion, our revered Gurudev, Indudharma Samrāṭa Sadguru Svāmī Mādhvānandajī Mahārāj, with his own mouth, said that Śukadeva... The sages say that serving Hari for sixteen years is equivalent to the benefit of serving a guru for a moment. Speak as little as possible. Reflect on why you have come here, what is the very purpose of coming here. You can have conversations at home as well; you can chat there too. Why have you come here? What is the reason? The Ādi Guru Bhagavān Śaṅkarācārya says—And why have you come? I am doing exactly what Paramātmā, the Supreme Father, intended when He allowed this jīvātman to enter the human body. And where will I go after leaving this body? Where will this jīvātman go? It will go to the place where our prāṇa resides. After that, a human body is given, or some other body. It is given, but it is not certain that in the next birth you will again obtain a human body. Forget that. If your actions are good, then good; if not, who knows—whether from the body of a buffalo in Bandra or a dog, the soul can attain knowledge of Paramātmā only through a human body. Therefore, if there is no effort, if you have little interest... If it feels right, then come, sit down and chant the mālā. If the fire is not lit, then instead of chanting the mālā, meditate on Gurudev. Thank you very much for all the words; I know you mean well, but I think it is not good. The mud is stuck, the hanger is stuck, no one can see it, the spirit that remains standing in between, thank you very much. So sit down and meditate, enjoy the bliss of the āśrama. In front of you, you see the hermitage of the sages, with the names of the ṛṣis inscribed. You know who the ṛṣi is, which ṛṣi did what. The cinema actor, he only gave a name, but on television, the eternal dharma is preserved, the Bhāratīya culture given to humanity. Vedic culture has been forgotten; if we look at our current education system, it is zero for the qualities of a human being. Education is that which makes a human truly human. Education leads from thought to light, from the light of the soul, to the light of Īśvara—that is true education, and that is what our ṛṣis and munis taught. It is the education of India, unfortunately, the misfortune of the people, that today such education is not being imparted in our schools. And now, enjoy the satsaṅga of Gurudev on Pūrṇimā. The more joy you experience, the more you meditate, and the more blissful you remain, the better it will be for you. You are fortunate, and today all of you are being seen in 185 countries through this live program. So, be alert and attentive with full awareness. O sister, what can I say? I am deeply devoted to the feet of the Guru; this fire of devotion burns within me. Without those feet, how can I live? Now, the world is all illusion, all a dream, without Your feet. The world is illusion, all a dream—what is it without Your feet? This devotion is like a lamp at the feet of Nārāyaṇa Bhagavān. Bābājī, attachment is something else; I am someone who pairs with English. I have said, I am not attached, I detest attachment. Yes, in Hindi I have said I am not attached; I am somewhat crooked, not perfectly paired. I am somewhat crooked. And another thing, whenever there is satsaṅga... So people sit here and there to settle things. You have been informed that the toilets are built in the school; there are quite a few. There are also toilets built in front of Oṃ Āśrama. For your convenience, you should go there properly to settle your needs. Or if you cross the road carrying a water bottle, be mindful that you might find toilets nearby. Urinating in the courtyard of the āśrama is considered a sin. Now, our Svāmījī Avatāra Purījī and our Rājandar Purījī, both brahmacārīs of the āśrama, will sing a bhajan for you. Sing: Śrī Dīpa Nārāyaṇa Bhagavān. Āryam Gaurī Śaṅkarajī, Gaurī Śaṅkarajī who have come from Nīmach, please kindly take the stage. Gaurī Śaṅkarajī have come from Nīmach, please come to the stage. Victory to Sat Sanātana Dharma, Victory to Bhārata Mātā, Victory to Mahāmaṇḍaleśvara Śrī Svāmī Maheśvarānandajī, and Gurudev. After an hour or 45 minutes, it will depend on when the meal is finished; only after that will our Yog Bhāratījī, a well-respected singer from Jālor district, perform. Not only in India, but his cassettes are also very popular abroad, and on several television channels, you can enjoy his music after having your meal. All of you dear ones must receive the prasāda. Say Śrī Dīpa Nārāyaṇa Bhagavān. There is a bell ringing in Māṛī Gaṛī; it will ring nine times, then ten minutes will pass. After ten minutes, why do we engage in yoga? Because, O Gurumārāj, if there is confusion and delusion, then why is there no knowledge? And Gurumārāj entered into the refuge, O jīva, and Gurumārāj and the jīva said, O jīva, you are not a jīva, you are Śiva, you are one with Īśvara, filled with love for Paramātmā, and from that one, the method of bhajana was taught. According to that method, the jīva turns into Śiva; this is the knowledge discovered. From this, the mother of life will give a different dawn. In the written words of the poet, there is confusion and error; how can one engage in the worship of the Guru amidst such turmoil? This is my destiny, awakened from past lives, and it is reflected in all these words. Even Gurumārāj does not change or alter this; he works tirelessly but cannot grant liberation without the power first coming from that very source. Thus, Gurumārāj, with body and mind, is devoted to that alone.
