Shiva is universal

The human body and all life are profoundly influenced by the seasons and the earth's radiance. The greatest threat today is climate change, caused by human greed. This mental pollution creates physical pollution, leading to drought and suffering. If we had followed the prayers and instructions of ancient sages, this situation would not exist. People pray for rain, but often do so selfishly as beggars. Śiva asks for unconditional love and devotion, not begging. The use of chemical pesticides creates unbearable heat in the earth, harming it like a cancer and contributing to environmental breakdown. The four monsoon months are designated for dedicated worship and meditation on Lord Śiva. Śiva is the eternal, undestroyable consciousness from which all manifestation arises. I advise all to meditate on Śiva and repeat the mantra. Prayer must come from a heart of endless love, not like morning dew that vanishes. Pray for forgiveness and for the sake of all creatures and vegetation.

"Mother Earth has enough for everyone’s need, but not for their greed."

"Where there is love, there are no conditions: unconditional love, unconditional devotion."

With adoration to the Cosmic Consciousness, Swayambhū, God Śiva. Adoration to our Holy Lineage. Oṁ Śrī Alak Purī Jīsida Pīṭha. Dear brothers and sisters here and around the world who are with us now through the webcast, this special blessing is coming to you from the Holy Land, India—Bharat, Om Vishwadeep Gurukul, Āśram Jādan, Rājasthān, India. This month is especially significant. It is the month according to the moon calendar, known in Sanskrit as the Śrāvaṇa month. We also have twelve months, but that astrology follows the lunar calendar. Every third year, we have thirteen months. How does it happen? The beginning of the month is counted from the full moon. If there are thirteen full moons in that year, it divides into thirteen months. The moon calendar is very accurate. Western astrology is according to the sun, while Indian astrology is according to the moon. In many countries, there are four seasons. In some countries, there are only three. For example, in Kannada—the part of Kannada now in Manitoba where the Red River flows, in the Winnipeg area—they have only three seasons; they don't have a spring in between. After winter, immediately within one, two, or three days, the trees are already blossoming. All the leaves and everything come out very quickly. The four seasons of the year are divided for different kinds of vibration, radiance, and environment in vegetation. Also, the earth’s radiance influences the entire biological system on our planet. This means not only the vegetation but also all creatures, including jalacara, sthalacara, and nabhasacara—creatures in the water, on the earth, and in the sky. That means automatically the human body, also a body made out of five elements, is biological. The same effect which trees have from the different seasons, the human body has. The changing of the tissues, the changing of the blood’s digestion system, the motoring systems, the thinking process, the alertness, or the concentration—everything is influenced by the seasons. Now, the biggest threat to the world, the biggest threat or distraction which we should expect, is what we already know: climate changes. What is the cause of the climate changes? This is very important. It is the greed of humans. Mahātmā Gandhījī said, "Mother Earth has enough for everyone’s need, but not for their greed." We are fighting against pollution, but this pollution—from where does it come? This is a pollution of the human mind. That greed of the human has created it. All this physical, mental, and sound pollution results in drought, hurricanes, earthquakes, fire, flood, and so on. Now, 78 percent of this globe is suffering because they don’t have water. If they have water, then it is not drinkable at all; it is completely polluted. Three decades before, hardly anyone was caring or knew about mineral water bottles, which you are carrying now. If it continues like this, then we will have to carry constantly oxygen bottles, and if we continue further, we will have to be all the time very near to the hospital or in the ambulance. I come back to India. The great sages of India had been praying, called Śānti Mantra, for this planet, for the vegetation, for the medical herbs, for the water, for the air, for the space, and even for the cosmic self, as well as for oneself. If humans would have followed those instructions of the so-called self-realized sages or yogīs of the Indians, this situation would not be in the world today, and first I would say it would not be in India. Why doesn’t rain come? It’s a very burning question in the human mind today, especially in India. Believers or non-believers, out of threat, they run to the temples and pray to God Śiva. You know, Śiva is one of the gods who, with a little prayer, is pleased. Even Brahmā and Viṣṇu, when they have trouble, they run to Śiva. And people are making ceremonies and this and that, but Śiva is asking, "Do you pray from your heart or not?" No, selfishly we are the beggars, and beggars all the time. "Lord Śiva, glory to thee, please rain more." Only we say one word, "Glory to thee," and ten times say, "Please rain, please rain, give me this, give me this." Śiva says, "I know what you are praying for. Don’t beg, just do prayer. Give your love. Where there is love, there are no conditions: unconditional love, unconditional devotion. That is accepted by him, otherwise not." All this so-called pesticide, ādhunik khaḍ, apne yā kehte, "Aṅgrezī khaḍ." Kaun leke āyate? Isko Aṅgrezī khaḍ kyõ kehte ho? In India, all pesticides, they call English fertilizer because the English, the Westerners have developed this yuriya, or joy. Yuriya, use can I go on? Conure a catamara, a guy I can, a yuriya nuria coin, a nuria a knee, what the riyakis kamika? This may Ravan gina ho, or what Javani kiss calm key? So, this is one of the reasons why it doesn’t rain. Because this pesticide has created so much heat in the earth—unbelievable heat, unbearable heat. Mother Earth cannot bear any more of this heat. Her body is burning. And such trees, when you say in English, are a cancer for this earth. And the cause of the ozone, that ozone is getting thinner and thinner, is also this pesticide. Therefore, one of the American Indians said, "When the last fish will die and when the last tree will be chipped off, oh human, then you will realize that you can’t eat your dollars." Well, these four months, according to the Indian weather system, climate system, are monsoon time. These four months—Śrāvaṇ, Bhādav, Aśoṣ, Kāti—are the four months. The Maṅgīlāl Jī Mahārāj, Mahāprabhujī’s disciple, Ātamgyānī, Jīvan Mukta, he made a beautiful bhajan. Gurudev, four months monsoon time, raining season. O Lord, be at our door, be in our village, just to meditate and worship Lord Śiva. The ṛṣis gave the instructions to all sādhus and saints: stay four months in one place during this monsoon time and do the ārādhanā, prayer. Sādhana, practice, meditations, and prayers to Lord Śiva. Cāturmāsa is only for the worship of Lord Śiva. If there is no other worship, then the rain will also start to decrease. There are also saints, sannyāsīs, and Mahātmās who say, "What is the need of Lord Śiva? We believe in the other God." So there will be a decrease in the rain. Kī. Cār mainā tak keval bhagavān śiv kī prathānā. Cār mainā tak keval bhagavān śiv kī ārādhanā. These are the four months of the monsoons, where you have the meditation and prayers and everything dedicated to Lord Śiva. Ultimately, it is Śiva who will fulfill our desires. Śiva and Śakti, they both together—that is, Śiva is the Swayambhū; no one has created him. He has manifested himself. Śiva means that eternal consciousness, everlasting. Many, many yugas, many, many manvantaras, and many, many kalpas passed away. Many times there was pralaya, destruction, where the complete earth and everything was destroyed. But that Śiva, Chetana, Jyotiśvarūpa Śiva—that’s why I call it the Jyotirliṅga. That is called the eternal consciousness, which will remain forever and ever. And then from that consciousness comes "Ekohaṁ Bahusyāmī": "I am one, and now I will multiply myself." Therefore, all the devotees around the world, I suggest that in these four months you meditate on Lord Śiva and practice the mantra which you received from your Gurudev. If you haven’t received a mantra from Gurudev, then I give you a beautiful mantra. You can repeat: "Oṁ Śo’haṁ Śrī Deveśvara Mahādevāya Namaḥ. Oṁ Śo’haṁ Śrī Deveśvara Mahādevāya Namaḥ," or "Oṁ Namaḥ Śivāya," a very simple one. Oṁ Namaḥ Śivāya means my adoration to Lord Śiva. But Oṁ Śo’haṁ means I am Śiva. My existence, my consciousness, the light of my consciousness is the light of that eternal light of Śiva. "I am Śiva," Jīva says. "Śiva banne ke liye, Bhagavān Śiva has given the Yogśādhanā." This Jīva should become Śiva through that eternal union; otherwise, again, if you miss the chance, it is gone. And so, Oṁ Śo’haṁ: I am that eternal flame of the light, Ātmā, everlasting, undestroyable, immortal. No weapon can kill it. Fire cannot burn it. No element can destroy it. Even death cannot take it away. That I am the eternal flame, the light, the eternal consciousness, Śiva. Oṁ Śo’haṁ Deveśvara, the Lord of the Lord of the Lord, Īśvarāg. Oṁ Śo’haṁ Śrī Deveśvara Mahādeva, the greatest of the greatest one, Namaha, my adoration. If we will pray, definitely Lord Śiva will fulfill our desires or our wishes, but prayer should come from the heart. Love should come from the heart. If your love is only on the surface, then it is like the morning dew on the grass. As morning grass is weighed, there is water. As soon as the sun rises, it will disappear. But our heart should have love like the endless ocean, forever and ever. Already one week has passed of this Śrāvaṇa month. We have to pray more and more, not only because of the humans. May we tell God, forgive the karmas of the humans, but for the sake of other creatures, for the sake of the vegetation. Please, Lord, bless us with your Akṣaya Jala, immortal water. It will come, I am sure. Bless you. And now we will see the Śiva Purāṇa and wish you a very good evening. Bless you all the best. Śrīdīp Nārāyaṇa Bhagavān Akī.
