Worldly joy is just an illusion

The longing of the heart is known only to those in love.

Two parrots quarreled on a tree. The male said, “Meditate on God's glory, do not eat poisonous fruits of passion.” Death strikes without warning. These enjoyments are Fata Morgana, unreachable. The joy of joy is less than its sorrow. Keep the world behind, face reality. Satsang is the tree of immortality, giving immortal fruits. The female replied, “Repeat Soham mantra—it costs nothing. Death is a cat that will chew your skin.” The mind is the sutra, body the cave, atma the soul. Realize immortal peace through Guru's grace. Rise early, do sadhana, do not be lazy. The knees, ears, eyes, and tongue all rebel: they were misused for useless places and gossip. The garden of the world dries up. This human life is rare. Where a saint, yogi, or guru is, there is pilgrimage and happiness.

Satsaṅg is the tree of immortality.”

“The joy of the joy is less than the sorrow of the joy.”

This bhajan is from Bhad Birahani, from Mahāprabhujī’s bhajan book that he was writing. This part means poetry, and viraha means the suffering of the heart, the longing. So he is describing—it is not in a bad way or mean—but it is the belonging to God, belonging to the Divine, belonging to Guru Dev. It is with the viraha. Swamijī always says, only that one knows who is in love, only that one knows who is suffering from the longing. There were two parrots sitting on the tree, one male and one female, and one was the mena and one was the sua, and so they were quarreling, discussing. And so he said to the mena, “O my dear one, please listen to me. You should enjoy the meditation and the glory of the divine, the glory of God. But you are flying from branch to branch and eating the fruits of passion.” And he says to her, “These are poisonous fruits, do not eat them.” Because we don’t know what is coming in the next seconds, what will happen. Maybe death will take you away. Listen, oh my mena. Concentrate on the name of God. You are eating the fruits of enjoyment, full of ego, full of pride. You are moving here and there, full of pride. One can see if one is proud and full of ego how he or she is walking. But these enjoyments, they are like the Fata Morgana. You can’t reach them. You can’t enjoy this joy. The Swamījī says, “The joy of the joy is less than the sorrow of the joy.” So we can’t reach this joy. It is like a Fata Morgana. This is my darling. Listen, my dear. Keep the world behind you, this whole brahman, just leave it, this drama of life, and keep, do not turn towards the māyā, keep your back towards the māyā, and look your face towards the reality. Mahāprabhujī says to this, therefore, Guru Deva is giving you the satsaṅg. The satsaṅg is the tree of immortality. Satsaṅg is the tree of immortality. Which gives us the fruits of immortality. That is the difference between heaven and hell, and we can decide where we want to go. Like Swāmījī described yesterday, even hell is closed for those who are backbiting. We can’t even enter hell. But then Menā, she says, “Wait, wait... My dear Sua, I will tell you also something. You talk to me, you should repeat the name of Soham. You have your own tongue to repeat; it doesn’t cost you anything. You have your own tongue to repeat this mantra of Soham; it doesn’t cost you anything. It doesn’t cost you money. You should repeat it. And I tell you, you know the cat, death is like a cat. And this cat of death, she will eat you. He or she, billī is the he. He will finish all the plays of your life. Within one minute, you will see, and he is chewing your skin in the mouth, your skin.” [Unintelligible phrase follows.] And then here Swamiji was explaining, then he said the mind is the sūtra. The body is the cave, and the ātmā is the soul. And this ātmā is to realize the immortal peace you can realize when there is the kṛpā of Gurudeva. The man said to the soul, “You should get up early every day and do your sādhanā, then your mantra and your practice.” Don’t be so lazy, Sua. Get up. This garden of the world one day will dry up. Everything will dry. The Swamiji explained, “The knees don’t go with you anymore.” They say, my friend, you were walking to the places where you should not walk. I have helped you enough in this life. Now we do not want any more. You misused us. You must talk with us with any feeling of ahiṃsā. You were talking with us without a feeling of ahiṃsā. And going to useless places. You did not go to the places where you should have gone. You made the sightseeing, and sightseeing, and sightseeing. You did not look towards yourself. Now we don’t want it anymore. And then the ears said, “Ha, it’s unbelievable.” We were waiting so long that one day you will listen only to good things, the ears. But always you were searching to listen to some negative gossip and criticism. And now we don’t want that. We don’t want to listen to this stuff or do what you want, but without us. And another friend said, “We don’t want it.” So the ears and the eyes, we thought you would see the beauty of this world, but you were selfish. You saw only that beauty which you wanted to see. Now we do not want it anymore. And the tongue (jībha) said also, “Wait, wait... wait. You made us impure.” And so on. So it is said, this worldly garden will dry up one day; this old one is useless. And here Mahāprabhujī said, “This beautiful human life, who knows if we get it again.” And here Swamiji explains, we always don’t know what will be after our death. Mahāprabhujī says, this is the truth. Where there is a holy man, a saint, a yogī, and a gurudev, there is your pilgrim place, and there is happiness. All holy scriptures and all the saints speak about this one. Aim, and this to understand and realize. This is translated by Swamījī in one of his divine satsaṅgs. Śrī Dīp Nārāyaṇa Bhagavān, He Kī Jai. So, next bhajan. And we have our Karma Sannyāsī, the Yamunā. And then we have Kamsaniya Siamunu, coming from Australia, from the Sunshine Coast. She came from the Sunshine Coast and was born in the snow, in Germany. After this bhajan, she will translate. Karata, which bhajan? Good bhajans. Guru Swāmījī. There are many different kinds of sannyāsīs. Everyone is a sannyāsī, but karma sannyāsī is very special. That’s very rare; you can have this. If you are really going the path of karma, no anger, no negative thoughts, no many, many things, and always doing service for everything. So, our dear Yamunājī, translation, come on. So here in the front, the next will be the, no, Hindi. So I know that this bhajan is from Mahāprabhujī to Devpurījī, and that he is thanking Mahāprabhujī for Devpurījī for saving him. Through the meeting of the Master, my life has become real, spiritual. It has become a spiritual life. You are the great paras that transforms the crow into a swan. The greatest, the everything, and I thank you for this mercy and this grace. Thank you, Swamijī. The whole bhajan. Ah, more, okay. Of course. But I don’t know the words, Swāmījī. No, there are all the words; you are able to sing it. When we have the connection with the Satguru, yes, every bhajan, almost all, we have heard maybe a thousand times. Since 1973. Whole Soviet countries. Also, Yugoslavia, German, old, etc. How many times have you heard this bhajan? And translated many times. So today we will have one of our very dear ones, and her name is Mantra Purī. Please come and translate. Yeah, she’s a very, very nice person. This bhajan, by the two, but you are taking them apart with this translation. Yes, she is wrong. Okay then. Okay? Yes? No, no. Your masters want to tell the meanings of the bhajans. Yes, what gives us, and not only stories. Not only stories, but the meaning of Vajana. Oh my mind, Śrī Prabhudīp is the giver, He is the Supreme, the Parabrahman. Supreme Being. You are sitting on the podium with hundreds of people, yes? Yeah, I know. Yes, you are a sannyāsī. Come on, bam, bam... Yes, go ahead, wasting of the time, no, no... That is not a lecture here, is it a lecture? No. Okay, tomorrow get ready. Okay, I don’t know any bhajans, but tomorrow you have to stand, okay? And this one, come here, you are a sannyāsī also. The Germans are very good, always. Yes, Bhajore Manvā. Can I do it in German? Yes, in German, of course. You can do it in everything. Yes, your Master knows everything. Śrī Dīp Nārāyaṇa Bhagavān, Kī Jai, Bhajore Manvā. Meditate, my mind, on the merciful God Śrī Dīp. He is the highest holy consciousness. She said, “Meditate my mind on the divine Self. He is the holy divine Self.” He is the highest God in the human form. Mahāprabhujī came in the human form, in the Saguṇa form, in this world to protect all living beings. Internally and externally, He is the most powerful light. Mahāprabhujī is inside and outside the highest form of light. Whoever meditates on him with a pure heart, then all these doubts and illusions of this world will disappear. Mahāprabhujī, He is the giver of all. He is giving everything. And this Śrī Holī Gurujī said in this divine bhajan, “Bhajore manvā.” Mahāprabhujī gives everything, and Śrī Gurujī said this in this bhajan. Dīp Nārāyaṇ Bhaṭmān, a key to... Did not translate the bhajan, but... Didn’t translate the bhajan, but... And she also did not translate it correctly. And so, Mahāprabhujī is learning slowly, slowly, falling into the ocean, word to word, always. I sit there and always translate word to word, many, many years. Many, many years, each and every word, I have translated these bhajans. Yeah, okay, next bhajan? It must not be sannyāsī. Yeah, that will come in my hands, okay? So, next bhajan. So, next bhajan. Śrī Dīp Nārāyaṇa Bhagavān Kī Jaya, Śrī Dīp Nārāyaṇa Bhagavān Kī Jaya, Śrī Dīp Nārāyaṇa Bhagavān Kī Jaya, Śrī Dīp Nārāyaṇa Bhagavān Kī Jaya, Śrī Dīp Nārāyaṇa Bhagavān Kī Jaya, Śrī Dīp Nārāyaṇa Bhagavān Kī Jaya, Śrī Dīp Nārāyaṇa Bhagavān Kī Jaya, Śrī Dīp Nārāyaṇa Bhagavān Kī Jaya, Śrī Dīp Nārāyaṇa Bhagavān Kī Jaya, Śrī Dīp Nārāyaṇa Bhagavān Kī Jaya, Śrī Dīp Nārāyaṇa Bhagavān Kī Jaya, Śrī Dīp Nārāyaṇa Bhagavān Kī Jaya, Oṁ Śrī Dīp Nārāyaṇa Bhagavān Kī Jaya, Śrī Śrī Devīśvara Mahādeva Kī Jaya, Śrī Viśvaguru Deva Kī Jaya. Omne tujhko dil se lagāyā, jo kuchh hai so tū hī hai. O my Lord, I became one with your heart. Whatever is for me, you are my own Lord. Prempurī from Croatia will translate this bhajan. Come on, yes. Of course, I didn’t say bad. We will do the... I didn’t say bad. He said to himself, “I will do my best.” So I did that. Then go back to Nepal. You can say Croatian, you can say Hindi, you can say English. All translators are here. In every house, in which heart is without you, you are in each house.
