Practise and live disciplined

Discipline is the foundation of genuine yoga practice. Without it, even decades of practice lead nowhere. The world offers two paths: the rare life of total renunciation and the integrated life of a householder. The latter is recommended, where one lives fully in the world while maintaining spiritual discipline. Do not chase miracles or external validations; reality is found within. Practice requires purifying the mind's fluctuations. Many attend gatherings but lack focus, indulging in chatter and breaking dietary discipline, which wastes food and energy. True practice demands sustained commitment, not short courses seeking certificates. Integrate silence and focus into daily life.

"If you have no discipline, even if you are practicing 35 years, you go on the wrong way."

Deep Nārāyaṇa Bhagavān Kīcaka, Dev Puruṣa. Mahādeva Kīcaka, Satguru. Svāmī Madhvanājī Bhagavān Kīcaka, Satya. Sanātana Dharma Kīcaka, Kīcaka,... Kīcaka. First of all, welcome. It is already noon, but we said morning. Good morning. Your sādhanā was very good. How many are there for Anuṣṭhāna? Very good. Thank you. And others, normal yoga exercises and all, very good. And yoga teacher trainings, very, very good. And karma yogīs, there are more, I see. Thank you. Welcome. Now you have people in the Kriyānusthān who are practicing āsanas and prāṇāyāmas, another one is also doing karma yoga, and many are all for the satsaṅgs. All are on the same level, but one has other trainings, others have other trainings. After this, we are in that training which, physically, mentally, and for the development of our brain, spiritually, is a great, very great. This seminar, what we call a seminar, and in some countries they call a retreat. So, seminar is different and retreat is different. So, the definition of retreat: we are treated, but we forgot. So, we again do retreat. So we were treated from our first, our mother’s, father’s, friends, teachers, schools, etc. But then again we go on retreat, we have forgotten, and we are again remembering. And the seminar is also very nice, and "se" means all, we are all together, and so this is that we are all together. Is another in German language, but that is a joke. So please don’t mind. You know, so should I tell, or better not? So it is a seminar. So, a narration. Yeah, and head a little bit like this. I did not say anything wrong; I was making my hair. But that is like a joke. So seminar means we all come together. And then we have our subject, whatever it is. Then there is another one. This is a training, yoga teacher’s training. And so we call it satsaṅg. Now, sat means the truth, and saṅg means together. So, all we are together, and we are on the spiritual path. In the seminar, we are all collected together in oneness. Retreat, it’s very good. We are retreated again. And that is very interesting. This is coming from the nature. Now, there are many different birds in this park, but every different bird will come together and sing, or whatever they like, they will do. The crow and the duck will not sing together. So this is what we are also learning from nature. This we can put it off; it’s too cold here, so we are coming together. In this also, that is the body. So the body has everything. Humans have a body, animals have a body, fish have a body, birds have a body, and now our car has a body. So our car is also a body. So if the body of your car is rotten, then we don’t take it. So similarly, we also, when we are very old, are in the hospital or somewhere else. So, body. So, body, everyone has this. So now we call it the prāṇamaya kośa. Every creature has its nourishment. And your car also has nourishment. Otherwise, it will not go. And what is the nourishment of the car? Yes, petrol and oil and water. So everything that humans have done, humans have done according to themselves. It’s about beauty. Everything is beautiful. So similarly, after this annamaya kośa is prāṇamaya kośa. And so that car also has air in the wheels. So there is energy also there, and then the mental, manomaya kośa. Every creature has some kind of feelings, or in the brain, they also know where to go, where to sit, where to eat, where to hide, where to hunt, etc. Our mind, we are training very much, and some animals can also be trained. They are learning, but still a little, not so much like a human. So that brain and their intellect, so from the brain, what our intellect is coming, some animals have also. When you are training your dog, you see how intelligent your dog is. I don’t know if it’s, but I think in your army also, and in the Indian army also, there are dogs. It’s not a joke. And these dogs have the rank. Yes, and when there is some function or something, that dog also has to sit up because that dog has rank. And so there is a table, and there he is sitting. Have some medallion, and they behave exactly. That is the training. So when we can train such a creature like a dog or snakes also, why can we not train ourselves better? So your dog, a trained dog, will never take the alcohol. And one day, if you will put in his body, then he will leave his rank down. So we also, our trees, how nicely we are taking our trees and that, everything. Similarly, our yoga seminar, sev means all in Hindi, so the seminar and nar, the human. So coming together as humans, that’s a very important thing. Let’s come to our practice, because many of you came this weekend. I know that you know a lot about our prāṇa and prāṇāyāma. Many of you know, and many don’t know, and many don’t know, they will know. And who have, who know but have forgotten. My dear, yoga in daily life is not only your body movement and a little breath movement. Let’s come to the subject of, for example, the Patañjali Yoga Sūtra. So yoga is yoga, and sūtra is the chapter from one of the ṛṣis, and it is very systematically written. Everyone who is learning this and who is reading this book, there is written the first word: "Atha Yoga Anuśāsana." Atha yoga. Anuśāsana means ātmā, means now, Yoga, now the discipline of yoga. If you have no discipline, even if you are working yoga, practicing 35 years, but if the discipline is not there, then what happens? You go on the wrong way, and when we go on the wrong way, then we lose everything. Those who have no discipline, who don’t want to practice, then because there is no discipline, you lose everything. Thirty-five years practicing, what have you achieved? Look, food is there in front of you. You have hands, you have a mouth, you have a stomach. So we give you the food, but you should eat. That’s it. I said, "My hands are burned." Then we said, "We will give it to you in the mouth." But you said, "Can you?" We said, "Okay, no problem, but can you swallow for me?" Then you said, "Yes, we will be liquid." And we will put through your nose into the mouth, so we have to learn ourselves, because your master Gurujī will not sit with you all the time. But follow the principle and the words of the master, and you should remain in the world. Don’t give up the worldly life. You should live a good family life. There are two parts of yoga. One is they call me, "I’m a yogī, and I’m a yogī," and that’s it. They are very rare. Then some people will come and give eating, eat less, that is then only, but if the whole world will do like this, then all technology is finished, all science is finished. If all will just have one little lākoṭī, like Nāgabhava, or what did you call the FKF. Now, when a thousand people are talking, I cannot hear. So, moment, moment, moment. Who has been there swimming? Tell me, please. Not in the bathroom. You were with the people; there were a hundred people there, all. FKK. Yeah, FKK. Because I was not there. Maybe next summer we will go to the Adriatic coast. Why not? Anyhow, if all will do like this only, then why are our good, learned scientists, doctors, etc., why are they doing all this for us? So, you cannot just go and sit in one āśram and say "Aum, Aum." Others will come and sit, "Aum, Aum." Others will come, "Aum, Aum." And the master will say, "Om, om." But the master will say, "Where is my eating?" So we don’t know. We are all om. So it is one. Second, one who goes far away in the forest or the mountains and so on, maybe, you know that 99.9% of them are all doing the worldly life. Only that one, and also a little less. They are maybe with the real spirituality. The rest run away from their wife, or from their children, or their parents, or the criminals. Many, many things. So they... and see, everybody will say, "Oh, this is a great one." And someone sitting here, and one person comes, "Oh, this is that one in our city, in our village." Oh God, he was a cheater, and they will take him. So many people, from certain problems, they run away. Therefore, the second, you are all. We are all, and we should live our life as we are living. And you can meditate, you can pray, you can practice yoga, you can go with friends. What a nice life. That’s it, but of course, do not go in the wrong way, thinking, eating, behaving. So yoga needs discipline. So discipline means not only now you go at home and tell your wife, "I will only meditate, you bring me eating," and I will sit. The wife will give something that I don’t want to tell you. Because someone definitely will do it, so we sell normal practicing and don’t think of miracles. If miracles are okay, and when you are running behind the miracles, then your miracles are gone. And why do you make a miracle? There are so many, so many people now. One, there were many, but one master is now, and when he goes, he has so many clothes, though it is very hot, and he is giving a lecture. And then he said, "This is a golden watch for you." As the organizers, and suddenly bring somewhere from the body, many, many clothes, you know. It’s a very tricky trick. And suddenly there is nothing, and you say, "Look, this is a chain for you." People take the camera, photo, nowhere. Suddenly, there is a chain. But it was such a trick, even the camera cannot take it. Is that a trick? There’s a spirituality, but stupid people are there. They want to go there, so I want to tell you, don’t run for miracles only. Our life, good life, our families, house, house, our work, but at the same time... Your spiritual work. That’s a great, great people. So, this is discipline work. Practice we have to do. Don’t think that you will not practice. So after yoga chitta vṛtti nirodhaḥ, and so if you want to learn yoga, yoga chitta, chitta means our concentration or our mind, our cetanā. So yoga chitta vṛtti, and what is your vṛtti? Vṛtti means behavior. Like you want to eat here, you will take this away, you are looking there, your vṛtti is not here. This is a vṛtti, and when you are, you have vṛtti. For example, you meditate and do prāṇāyāma. After a while, you are doing this. This is your vṛtti. Or your vṛtti: you get up, though you don’t need to go to the toilet, but you are going. So vṛtti, vṛtti is very, very terrible. And the vṛtti is that one which destroys us. So our vṛttis should be in one way all the time. So yoga, chitta, chitta means cetanā, concentration. Chitta, vṛtti, nirodha. Nirodha means this: you should remove it, exactly take it away, make it only purity. Yogaḥ citta-vṛtti-nirodhaḥ. So this you should purify; everything, then you can go further and further. So, in our yoga in daily life, we have many, many... The path which we should walk on, and so not only asana and pranayama and a little bit of meditation, and meditation: close eyes, look in the window, window, and, "Oh, ocean, very nice, very nice," behind, beyond ocean, or somewhere is a mountain. And the sun is rising. This is exactly a teaching of a mother. Little child, when you cry and don’t sleep, then the mother says this: "Yes, and now, yes, and ocean water, and mountains, and sun setting, close your eyes." So this is exactly the children’s program. Yes, you know what is reality, and the reality is within you; everything is within you. We are the whole universe. We are the whole universe. The body is little, but when you go in, when you dive into your body, what a beauty inside. And you run there, you go with an aeroplane inside. You are wide and wide and wide. All your chakras, all nerves, all glands, all organs, and brain, why God? It’s impossible to make a brain; only your father and mother can do that. The father cannot do anything, he just only says, "OK, finished," but the mother is doing inside. Engineer, how quickly is that doing? That is within ourselves. So we are in, into, in, into,... in. We are going, and our body is far and far, wide and wide, and we don’t know when we will again come as a human. Don’t think that I will be born again in Strelka, and I want to go to Prague, but there is nothing. No, it is once and finished. Who has seen that you are again here? Maybe one will come and tell you, "That was my grandmother, and this and this," and you said, "Aha, aha," and that we don’t know. The reality nobody knows. Or if one, okay, why not? If we take only one bite of the eating, all will be full with our stomach. When my stomach is full, it means not that the whole world is full. So, my dear, be with thyself. And you have everything. There we should go, that kind of yoga in daily life. Normal, normal, normal. There are some gurus and some masters who say, "I give you this and this mantra, and give you this mālā, and give you this triśūla," and it’s nothing. To take the triśūla in the hand is a beginning. Just go with it like this, hand nice. But when we need a triśūla, okay, we have it here. So, atha yogānuśāsanam: yogaḥ cittavṛtti nirodhaḥ. This is what we begin to say in our yoga lectures. So here in our āśram we should relax, enjoy, and don’t cross the door of the āśram. We have enough. If you want to do something, climb on the big tree. Climbing on the tree is very easy, but coming out is different. So we have here, meditate. Citta, vṛtti, nirodha. Chitta, vṛtti, nirodha. Your chitta, vṛtti here. 90.8% have no chitta vṛtti, peaceful. After the class, immediately there, joking, talking, shopping, ice cream, coffee, many things. Though I give you these instructions, and after, when the program is finished, in 45 minutes, you know where you are sitting, especially my best friend from Austria, because they have too much money, and also German. And they are coming, others also, and they are laughing and talking. So where was your discipline? Atha Yogānuśāsanam. So, were you there for sitting and drinking coffee? And one week, if you don’t drink coffee, will you die? If you die, I will go with you to the funeral. Yes, sannyāsinīs don’t go to funerals. Only sannyāsī, sannyāsī. But if you don’t drink coffee for five more days, will you die? Will you eat, will you die? If you get dry bread here, a piece of bread for five days, you will not starve. So why did you come for this seminar, or seminar? This is this. But I tell you, very nice, you will see what happens. But of course, in some way you are doing two things. You are making your nice yoga practice, and we have here tilak, restaurant, and you give them money, how nice. So please, go to the, not a coffee, but instead of the coffee, nice water. Say, "Please bring me coffee." The water in the coffee table, cup. Very good. Because this water, cup water, we will charge you three euros. And you will drink this water as coffee. Yes, so drink one cup of water, your twenty minutes, as a coffee. So, do eat something. They have very nice vegetarian pizza, so if you want to eat pizza, of course, you are free. But then you should say, "Please don’t cook for me here." Because, you know how much food we are throwing away? Really. So, I want to say, this is a discipline. It’s okay. Best, you should eat there. No problem. You have to pay there, and you have to pay here. It’s okay because we have written on your program with food, and with that, we are leaving from this ashram. So, why do we waste the eating? We are throwing really about. 150 people’s food, someone eats a little bit and then not anymore. They throw this food, then go to the coffee, then don’t throw it, something, then eat some ice cream. Is this discipline? So vṛtti, citta, yoga: citta vṛtti nirodha. Go and drink coffee. Go and mauna. You want coffee or chatting? If you are chatting, then sit in the middle of the road, the middle of the road. One, two, three, five, six, seven, the car cannot go. They said, "Please, can you move?" I said, "No, we are cheating, we are chatting." Police will come, they will say, "Yes, come and have coffee with us." So go, drink, and come back. Go eat, maintain silence, and practice. That is called anuṣṭhāna. So they are sitting there, you are practicing here, and they are eating together with you. Don’t laugh, don’t die. You have only four days more. So please do some nice sādhanā, nice techniques. And so we will talk about the prāṇa and prāṇāyāmas. So this kind of pranayama, what we are saying, you need time. At least one month you should do only the Sūrya Vedan or the Chandra Vedan. Then Śodhana. Purification. So this is, then your lungs will be really very good, clear, everything. There are many centers now, and they are trying to get rid of the cancer through prāṇāyāms and sāttvic food. But only not for five days, or one week, or two weeks; that will not help. It’s going through the whole body, and in the lungs there are so many things. So this prāṇāyāma will purify it, then other techniques. So don’t think that today we do... This tomorrow we do that. For this, we go at home. We got a certificate. I’m a yoga teacher. Are you home? That is something like Āyurveda. Āyurveda is very good, and Āyurveda is the father of the remedy after from this Āyurveda. All kinds of herbs, they made the chemical, this medicine. How many years were they studying as a doctor? Then you got the diploma. And you cannot buy the medicine anywhere without a written prescription from your doctor. And according to that pharmacy, people go to India, they buy all kinds of garbage, and come here and say, "It’s Āyurveda, so it’s good for you. I give you this, Āyurveda is very good." Because Ayurveda is not under control, now our government is trying hard, but it has become just like a weed in the forest. You can’t pull out. There in Australia and New Zealand, there are some bushes. And these bushes have nice little yellow flowers. So the British brought it there, but that kind of bush, now no one can get rid of it. Even the hills are full of these flowers, and no animals eat them, and nothing. We can’t get rid of it, and so is this Āyurveda. Everyone is pulling here and there and here and there. It comes for a doctor that I am an Āyurveda doctor, and you don’t ask, "Can we show your certificate?" Said, "Of course, I have it, but I didn’t bring it with me." So, similarly, our Yamunādevī here, she’s also studying this and that and Chinese, and you can get Chinese medicine there. You can get this. This is okay. When the child is crying, then he said, "Yes, ice cream is coming." So there is no seriousness. Some people are very serious, but others will go to the Yamunā and take medicine from her and sell it further. Similarly, yoga is like that, but if you do it with concentration and discipline, leave your household, but practice and be there. Good. So prāṇāyāma, prāṇa. This evening we will talk about this subject. So please, laugh, run; you can do it anytime. If you laugh and run, your wife will be very happy at home. But here, silent. I don’t say keep mauna, but be silent. From this program, you have dinner, then go and relax, or read your book, or make your mālā, or sit under the trees. Breathe nicely. Your stomach will be very happy. Digestion will be very good with nice air. But after eating, then drinking coffee is not good. That’s it. So it’s better not to eat anything for two hours. No drinking and no eating. Then you will see how your health will be better. But ask today, till tomorrow, how many times did you here in this area eat this or that fruit, or this and that? For the last four months, I have been very disciplined with my eating, and now, for four days, I have been here, and you can’t imagine. I try very hard, but still something comes. Then comes this something one. It’s not it, then it’s, so at least we should keep eating and drinking discipline. And do your asanas, pranayamas. So, there are some people who want to get Kriya again. Kriya, anybody want to get Kriya? Because you said always, so I said in Strelka we will give. Is that one? Okay, one, stand up, please. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten. Is this about a lady or children? You will be tomorrow. I have no time. Monday, you will have the morning, nine o’clock, Kriya. Kriya. Kriya programs, okay? Good. Monday, please. And who wants to have a mantra name, a name, a yoga name? Only one. Okay, who wants to have a yoga name? Someone has written already. Who not? Write and give it to me, I will give it to you, okay? Okay. Yoga name. Good. And who wants to have a mantra? Who is here who has no mantra? One. Okay, only one. Okay. Also, those who want to have a mantra, come also at nine o’clock there. First, I will give the mantra, and then we will have Kriyā. Everything happens between 9 and 10:30. All right? Now we will all together chant from our Holy Gurujī’s Sadguru Chalīsā. So who will chant? Who will say it? Dhyān dhat, pāyā kara nirvāya ho gayā.
