The Awakening of Inner Powers: Yoga in Daily Life

Yoga reveals the hidden powers within through five sheaths of human existence. The first is the physical body of nourishment, which is foundational. The second is the vital energy sheath, fueled by proper sustenance and diminished by substances like alcohol. The third is the mental sheath, possessing immense speed and reach. The fourth is the sheath of intellect and wisdom. The fifth is the sheath of bliss. These layers contain the soul, and all life is interconnected. Physical and psychic tensions, often stored in areas like the thyroid or navel, cause disease. The body operates on vibrational resonance, exemplified by sacred sounds. Daily yogic practice releases tension, awakens inner energy, and sustains health and unity.

"The body is not everything, but everything is nothing without the body."

"One in all and all in one."

Good evening, dear sisters and brothers. I am very happy to be here with you in this big, beautiful city, Brno, which I have visited many, many times. I know this country better than India, as I have been coming here for nearly 48 years. It is beautiful. Thank you for inviting me. I was in the nearby city of Střílky for a seminar, and there was a request to come here to this city, which makes me very happy. I thank Dr. Martin and all the other friends and sisters who wished for this lecture. I do not know when I last gave one here—perhaps five years ago, which is just nothing. Thank you very much. The subject is very beautiful and is always relevant for us: Yoga in Daily Life. This means practicing yoga every day. Yoga is the science of humans. The science of the Yoga Veda is about ourselves, about our inner being. Many of you here know this well, though some may be here for the first time. In your country, there are many people practicing yoga, with different teachers and schools. This is very good. It does not matter which school; the main thing is that we are learning or teaching yoga. In the Czech Republic, I have 26 centers, and there are other teachers in different places. We have 300 Yoga in Daily Life teachers here, and there are other yoga schools as well. More or less, I would say the Czech lands have the most yoga practitioners compared to some other countries, and I include Slovakia in this. I mention this because today I must speak on the science of yoga: the hidden powers within ourselves. What I understand about hidden powers is that our power is hidden within us, but we do not utilize it. That is why we are not experiencing the awakening of power from our body. Yoga helps us understand that we have these five elements or sheaths. The first is the body of nourishment, Annamaya Kośa. Our body is what we eat and drink, and we act through it. This is very important. It is said the body is nothing, but without the body, everything is nothing. Do we know the value of our body? We see we are getting more and more illnesses. How many hospitals are in this city and others? We humans have become a little lazy. We go to take tablets or injections and think we are healthy. Medicine is also very good; thanks to God we have these systems. But our body is a body of nature, like a tree or grass. When we take chemicals, known as medicine, our body does not fully accept it. There is an effect on certain organs for some time, and it may seem okay. One tablet may calm a pain, but four or five can harm the body. At the same time, the science of medicine is very important. Āyurveda is the first medical system for mankind. It is said to be from herbs and natural sources. This is accepted by our body because our body is also natural; they come together. Therefore, Āyurveda is very useful. But on the other hand, we have doctors who perform surgeries, like replacing knees or ribs. That is very, very good; Āyurveda will not do this, and yoga will not do this either. We can do massage and give oils, but that pain may not go if the bones are no longer able to function. If we have proper nourishment from what we eat, it affects our whole body. Indians are also many meat-eaters, and their bones break easily. Those who are vegetarian by birth have bones that do not break easily; their joints are not so painful. So, nourishment is first. The body is not everything, but everything is nothing without the body. This is the first thing: we must awaken our inner feelings about what we need to do for our body. After that comes energy, Prāṇamaya Kośa. The energy is very powerful, but we need nourishment from our food, from the air, and from many things. If we have energy, we can do everything. What we use for our body awakens that energy within us. This energy affects our brain, which we will come to later. This energy is in the body and comes from nourishment and liquids like water. We have enough energy, but when you drink alcohol or take drugs, your energy falls down. Then we cannot do the tasks our brain should do for us. I know alcohol is dear to many; it is offered on airplanes and at meetings. But alcohol does not give our bodies energy. After a while, the effect is gone and the brain does not work as before. You are from this country; perhaps you drink alcohol many times. You have a very good brain and are good at everything. But if you did not drink alcohol or drugs, you would have double the energy and capacity for work from your brain, heart, and other organs. You would have the best and longest life. So, the awakening of energy in our body depends first on our nourishment and what we get from nature. The second and third is the mind, Manomaya Kośa. This is the third sheath of humans. Annamaya kośa, prāṇamaya kośa, manomaya kośa—this is in Sanskrit. Mana means the mind, and this mind is in our brain. What I try to give you is what is awakening within us: the energy and the quality of our life. Our brain is very strong; our mind is very strong. Let us speak about the mind now. Our mind is one of the most powerful things; it can go anywhere very quickly. Nothing else can go there. I can tell you about a power my mind can do. I cannot achieve something physically, but I can bring you there so quickly. I do not know how many millions of kilometers, but I would like to bring you there within a quarter second or even less. Our brain, which has the mind, will be there. I am not talking about the physical body or the energy, but that mind, mana. You know this a thousand percent. I want to bring you there, and that is it. I will only say the name: Jupiter. Now your brain is on Jupiter. The physical is different, but how far and how quick our brain is on Jupiter. This is manomaya, the mind. Therefore, in Sanskrit, human is called manuṣyā. The human mind is very far. We can use it or lose it. So, let us come and awaken our mind, our intellect, and our brains. After this, the fourth part is knowledge, wisdom, Vijñānamaya Kośa. That wisdom in the human brain, which I think is not in other animals, is immense knowledge and power. How we can awaken this is through memories and learning. If we do not utilize this, what then? If nourishment is better, your body is either lazy or active. If we are lazy, we do not go to work, we only sleep. Parents are angry: "What to do with my children?" We do not use the body. Why? Because we do not have energy, and then the energy is dormant. Dormant energy needs activity. We all know this: if you lie down for two or three days, you become ill. Therefore, be active, generating energy till the end of life. That energy we bring towards our brain, or the mind. If we do not utilize this, we are lost. Here we touch the point of the yogī. Yogic exercises are called āsanas, prāṇāyāmas, relaxation, meditation, etc. This is very important. Yoga is for humans. And what is our knowledge? We know which subject we take; that is our subject. We have so many faculties, and we learn one subject, not knowing anything else. But all the time, they know all kinds of knowledge. So, there is an awakening of this prāṇa in our body and knowledge. The fifth point is happiness, joy, relaxation, etc., Ānandamaya Kośa. This is annamaya kośa, prāṇamaya kośa, manomaya kośa, vijñānamaya kośa, ānandamaya kośa—the Sanskrit names. Now, these five elements, or five of our bodies, are only sheaths. Within them is our ātmā, soul. This soul we all have; we are all one soul. But you know, in your body, do not be proud that you have only your soul. In your body, or in my body, may I tell you, there are millions of souls. All kinds of other lives are living—different kinds of germs. In one little drop of blood, we can see how many lives are moving inside. If we cannot use this, it is gone. If we are lazy, then all these cells are either being destroyed or slowly becoming diseased. There are so many cells in the body. Yogic practice is different: practice, practice, practice every day—yoga exercises and pranayama. It is for your happiness. When we do not do that kind of exercise, it first... they are like what? They visit like a cancer. You know? All the liver, kidney, see? At least let me know many, many things. No happiness, because we have no proper movements. You walk, then you come and sit on a chair. How many hours did you sit in the cradle of your mother? You were a little child; I was a little child in the cradle. Then, after that, we are a little active. Then, how many days or years do we sit on chairs for learning? From primary school until university, we sit on chairs with little movement. After that, you get a diploma, you are a doctor or whatever, and again you sit on a chair in your office. You know what happens: our body gets slowly, slowly ill. So, yoga exercises are scientific because you know which kind of movements we should do, and then after, other kinds of movements. Gymnastics is good, but not like yoga. Running in the forest is very good, but not compared to yoga. Bodybuilding is very good, but after 30 years there will be problems. But yoga will keep you very happy, healthy, and flexible. Many people walk now with a stick, and with Yoga in Daily Life, in three months you will throw your stick away and walk nicely. This is because of the energy in the body and the many, many of our friends in the body—the cells. So, do not be proud that you have one soul. That is all. You are the universe. You have so many with you. The cells are dead or living. If they are living, it means it is a life. If it is not life anymore, we have to get out through the pranayama. My dear, how can I tell you? You may have never heard this: we all are one, including our animals, our birds, all creatures. We are all one. My Master Gurudev said, "One in all and all in one." How do I tell you that my soul and a dog’s soul are the same? Let us say ocean. We all know the ocean. From the ocean—the seven oceans and many lakes—all this water is one. With heat, the steam goes up. What do you call this? Parā. This parā, each one has one drip, its own little part from the ocean. It goes higher and higher and becomes like clouds. It is so fine, like a gas, fluttering in the sky. We have all experienced this in an airplane. The airplane flies through the clouds, but there are no problems. Still, there are fine drops of the water of the ocean. Again, these drops come together. We call it raining, dripping, coming together, and we know all water begins to flow. It comes to the creek, from the creek to the river, and from the river again into the ocean. Similarly, your soul and my soul and all the cells in the body are very much from the water element. We are all one. This water: some comes into pure, drinkable water where water is falling; others go into the canalization. We do not know where this water will go. So, where we are, we are as human. Another is like a buffalo, another is a little ant, etc. But we are only one jīva. You know also the jīva, the living being. You said, "Voda a život"—water is life. This voda is only one, but all is like one. It depends on how it comes and how it goes. Similarly, finally, if you believe, we come in Brahmaloka, and there we are only space, nothing else. So, there is another part of the body we speak of: the sky, the fire, the air, the water, and the earth. These are the five elements. In this, we are human and other animals. If we believe in God, then we can say all of us will come to God. So, we are all one. One in all and all in one. All creatures, all is life, and we should respect life. This is one point. Now, the second point: the life in the body, energy in the body. This is a different subject. Now we go to our body. There is a problem in our body: the thyroid gland. Mostly, thyroid gland problems are women’s, though there are many causes. According to yogic science, our thyroid gland problem has two main causes. One is little movement. The second is psychic problems, either with your husband, your boss, your friend, or your mother, etc. It means someone attacks you, but you forget it, swallow it down. Mostly, it is here, in the thyroid gland. This gland accumulates more and more negative energy, and that kills its energy. There are many different causes of thyroid problems; it must not only be what I tell you. But mostly, the problem in the thyroid is from too much negativity. Your husband is shouting, and you say, "It doesn’t matter, darling, leave it." But you are holding it here in your forehead. Now, there is a problem; also, men have problems. There are hundreds of causes. But one cause is definitely the problem of cancer, which is also from husband and wife problems. You are giving tension in your chest. Tension. You are collecting energy here. That is the problem. For men, also the men’s organs are a problem. Also, if a wife... wives are always good, sorry. One ambassador said to me, "I am the ambassador, and my wife and I go to a party." Of course, the ambassador is His Excellency, and madam, the wife of the ambassador, keeps a little distance. But as soon as His Excellency enters the house, the husband has to work many things. After finishing, retiring, people always say, "Your Excellency..." But in the house, she does not tell him, "Your Excellency." She will say, "Franz Cech, bring me a glass of water." These two differences, day and night, are a big problem. It is very rare for husband and wife, no matter their position, to have harmony. So, these are the problems inside the body: our kidneys, our gallbladders, all organs. One of the organs attacks us more and more, and that is a very big problem. So, you should do it. It does not matter; I am not telling you to come to my school. Do it at your home, and your wife will also do it, or your husband will do it. Practice, practice yoga. That is very important. Mostly, disease happens from our navel. Our navel is our origin; all other organs begin after. We are as the drop of the ocean in our navel. Many diseases go from there. You can release everything from the navel, not from your heart, kidneys, liver, prostate, chest, or even the brain. My God—tension, tension, tension in the brain. We should release this tension. This is the final point I want to bring. Now, the Sanskrit language. It is said that 99.9% of all languages are from the Sanskrit language. It is changing. You have the Czech language, then Slovakian, Polish, Ukrainian, etc., always changing, but the root is there. Our human language is called that vibration. Sanskrit is one of the oldest languages. We are all at the point of what is called resonance. Our body exists with resonance. Our whole body, all organs, muscles, blood—everything is balancing with vibration, and this vibration brings us together, making us healthy. So, the Sanskrit language, we call it Devanāgarī, meaning "of the divine city." Deva means divine, nāgarī means city. We are citizens of the divine. I am not talking about God this and God that, but about that part of our humanity. For us, everything is divine. Our blood is our God, our bones are our God, our muscles are our God, our nerves are God. Everything is divine. Without that, we cannot exist. Where is God? We do not know—maybe somewhere higher up. I have traveled around the world 50 times, high about 11,000 meters. I look out the window: God, where are you? At night: God, where are you? I come down. Some people, farmers and so on, say, "Did you see God?" I say, yes, what? The best pilot, he saved my life. So, we are God. Everything is what? We are living is God. The other part, we have different. We will talk after. This vibration begins from where? Our soul, let us say, begins from space, coming from space to fire, to water, to air, and then to vegetation. ...are as the cells in the body, and that is in the Nābhi (navel). So, deva means God, the divine; nāgarī means the city. We all are citizens of this earth. In the water there is also life—many cells in the water too. The whole earth is alive; that is called living earth. So, this vibration. Now, there is Kuṇḍalinī Yoga. I am not making business. I show you this book; there are many, many chakras, and it is beautiful. Where are they? Like this, so many chakras. Each chakra has immense vibration and meaning. This vibration is our body. There are 52 alphabets or letters in the human body. According to the Kuṇḍalinī signs, from the Mūlādhāra to Ājñā Chakra, these are the six main chakras: Mūlādhāra, Svādhiṣṭhāna, Maṇipūra, Anāhata, Viśuddhi, and Ājñā. Every chakra has what we call a bīja mantra, the seed of it. When this seed comes to the flower, those are the petals, and each petal has its own vibration. The center is the real seed. So, like we have our soul in the body, many cells are the vibration of our body. When we speak, humans, there is this language we call Sanskrit. Now, nābhi, from here we begin. There are two points I will give you, and you can use them. Utilize this; it will be very good for you. Tension is the problem: how to release tension? And the second, the problem of our life. So, to release tension is a vibration. You can do this, please, if you have some tensions—you, your wife, or your children. If not, you should do it to prevent it. Stress is also a problem, causing diseases. These 52 letters mean the vibration in our human bodies, and from that, everything we speak—you cannot speak the brake; it goes from the engine—and that is in the navel. So, I will give you one technique to try. Put one hand on your navel. It does not matter, left or right. Just relax. No miracles. Now, whatever I speak or you speak, the navel is pushing, acting. So, put your hand here. I will say something. You say, "Then this." Then you say, "Okay? Check." Brno. Vienna. India. Father. Mother. You. Me. Oh. Good. Did you always move your navel or not? It was energy that came from there. So, Annamaya Kośa and Prāṇamaya Kośa. That prāṇamaya kośa is here in the navel. Good. Thank you. Not good. Bye. What are you doing? Hello. How, friend. How, Maminka. Prosím. Always here. Those who cannot hear and cannot speak cannot do this movement. So, out of the 52 letters or alphabet, four are there that will not move. There you will see that your tongue will not move at all. Those who cannot speak have the tongue like this, not moving. So, that vibration, which we are awakening from the navel to our brain, is using our mind. We will do this now. These are the four letters or alphabet—some say alphabet, some say letters. The Australian said this, America said that, and British, nothing. So, first alphabet, where is relaxed, not moving in the ear; tongue is relaxed, lying. The tongue here in the mouth, ah, second, good, navel is relaxed, very good, navel is relaxed. The fourth. This becomes real Aum. And Aum is nothing other than the resonance going through and through our body, mind, consciousness, etc. So, sit straight, please, a little bit. Do not lean like this. I will chant first. Then I will say, "Now you do tension." It does not matter from what. You can have tension from your cat—she makes so many problems, comes in the night only in my garden, and the whole night, "meow, meow"—also tension, or with your wife, or with your husband. So, tension, and now release. How to release tension from the navel? Hold your hand like a cobra. Hold your hands like this. Then, bring them to your ears so that no sound goes out. Both you will close like this, and then you chant the OM. Okay. I will say it like this because you will not hear me anymore. I will say yes, and you continue, and then I will say finished. No pressure. The hole in your ear, and only when you hear, you can listen. The vibration resonance is like under water. Raise your hand. You feel released. So, eleven times morning, noon, and evening. All different kinds of stress in life will always be, but this will release it. Tension will also become relaxed. Try; stress will always come, tension will also come, but your OM resounding will release everything. So, the inner techniques of humans, the life into the life within thyself. You are not alone. Do not say, "I am alone. I have no husband." Be happy. What will you do with her? You have so many inside. Relax, be happy. When the real cells come into your body, automatically your husband will come or wife will come. So, do not look for someone to get it. Otherwise, that will be the tension, very hard to get rid of; how many times will you have to change the OM? So, my dear, yoga is the science of humans. We have all kinds of what we need through yoga—Yoga in Daily Life. Thank you, my dear ones, and until next time. Thank you.
