Guru Gyan Data He

The guru is essential for all progress, beginning with the parents who are the first teachers. From infancy, guidance is received, just as a duck leads its ducklings to water. Without such instruction, a being remains undeveloped, as shown when a child raised in isolation fails to become human. Education continues through friends and schoolteachers, culminating in the search for the Satguru who imparts true knowledge. This guidance shapes the human mind and distinguishes humanity. All authentic paths ultimately lead to the same truth, for the divine exists within all. Yet, modern education and science, without wisdom, can create confusion and harm our natural world, just as hybrid seeds degrade the soil. The eternal dharma persists through all ages.

"Without the guru, both beings and humans remain like animals."

"do not say that this is one dharma and that is another dharma; all dharmas are one."

Let us invoke peace in the refuge of Gurudev’s lotus feet, bowing down with folded hands at every threshold. No one can progress without the guru. Without the guru, both beings and humans remain like animals. How is that so? Consider a small child. That small child is dressed, rocked, fed milk, looks towards the mother, looks towards the father, is brought forward, wants to wear clothes, wants to drink water—this too is the teaching of a guru, is it not? In this way, every being, according to their own strength and according to their parents, receives guidance. They also exist; there is a duck, and the duck lays eggs, which lead towards the water. It does not throw them away but gently takes them along. And the duck itself dives into the water, and the little duckling also dives into it. At first, it struggles here and there, but then it starts swimming. This means that by educating them, the entire living beings move forward; everyone has their own guru. Similarly, just as a small child is gradually helped by the mother to stand on their feet, with the mother doing everything for them, in the same way, parents educate their children. What do they give them? Education, whether from the mother or the father, and all those who are nearby guide the child based on that foundation. After that, gradually they teach them to wear clothes, and patiently, if we do not teach small children to feed themselves by hand, they will eat like monkeys do. Similarly, they will keep licking in the same way. So, the very first teaching is "mātṛ devo bhavā," and similarly, the Upaniṣad also says the same. The very first Bhagavān or guru is the mother, and "pitṛ devo bhavā" means the father is also your guru. He imparts education, and that education is ongoing. You are walking along with the guru. From childhood, they nurture and cradle the child, becoming their guru as well. In this way, by doing such things—spreading the cloth, feeding, talking, teaching how to sit—our education comes from our mother and father, and our fathers, brothers, and sisters also teach us. Once, some people had a question inside them. They tried to see how to help a person progress, and what did they do? They conducted research by taking a small child and leaving him in the forest. Then they went and gave him milk along with grass, leaves, and such. The second time they went, no one knew what happened to him. He has grown a little, but he doesn’t even know how to speak. For at least fifteen years, they raised him in such a way that he couldn’t tell the difference between a human and an animal—how he is beaten, how he eats, just like they do. Whether it’s a bear or some other creature like a monkey, that’s what their life was like; this is exactly the life they lived. You are sitting, so become life itself; if you want to apply it, then what else do we do but leave it in the forest? Here, apply it—look towards Gurujī, just as the cow stood there, now accordingly... Then he tries to eat, to remain in the body, this is it. The same individual of Bhagavān was captured and brought back; he became wild, killing animals to eat, eating soil, drinking water wherever he could find it, catching birds to eat. But he was kept in a certain place, and then that individual was brought back, and the teachings given afterward are precisely those teachings. Our friends gave it for us, and friends also told us a lot, right? Along with those friends, then there are the teachers at our school. You used to call them master, master, especially in English. That is why it is said: mātre devo bhavā, pitre devo bhavā. And after that, the school teacher is also called a guru—guru devo bhavā. And beyond that, one meets the Satguru Dev, who imparts true knowledge. Thus, the human mind is shaped accordingly. It can also acquire all these languages, but the point is, just as we are speaking only Hindi and someone else is speaking Punjabi, not Chinese, so... The Chinese language is also very good, but we know Hindi. Now, when China speaks, no one understands it. It met the master through our brothers, just like that. To progress further, one desires to meet the Satguru. The Satguru then enters their mind, their... Within the realm of thoughts, in the shadows of their existence and behavior, the guru who understands all this imparts the teaching that one should act only when the thought truly enters the mind. Only then can you say that a human is truly human. Now, all of you say, "Māmī, Māmī..." It means when you say "dead" and "pāpā, pāpā," pāpā means sin. Sin is one thing, Paramātmā is one, ātman is one, and pāpā is another. Ātman and another is dharmātmā. So when the time of the father comes, it is said that mother and father—pittā means these pitṛs. You see, even now in our Hindustān... Inside, these people say that we all perform pitṛ pūjā. Now, do not say that only Hindus perform pitṛ pūjā. Even the Christians have the practice of prishṭa marta. Then, what happens afterward is that your family members go there and if they light a lamp or write a lamp, they sit with flowers. They keep it, then go and cry, sit down, drink this, then do that—what happens is that what is written inside your Bible, only fourteen such things are written and given by them. The other things are taken from our Vedas and from all our other scriptures. Now see, we say Om and... They call it Āman, so Āman and Om are no different, and there are also Muslims who do not say Om, but the prāṇa still wavers within a person here and there. It is called Āman because, in the end, there is the guru. Now see, how to understand that guru, and here in our Hindustān... So we say that Bhagavān is alive in Hindustān. Bhagavān is of two types of gurus: one is the one who appears as Bhagavān in times of great crisis. Such Bhagavān come as a divine instrument when severe times arise. They identify the situation, the attire, the goat, do not let the plague spread, the epidemic, the severe, the second one is to eat, to measure, to select only the good qualities. And right, so now see, this is not criticism, do not consider it criticism. Now see, the devotees who go to the temple and knock on the door, they come there because they are very thirsty and there is a beautiful, pure pond or a very good water source nearby, but... There is a rock ahead, and one is thirsty, but the mother tries to knock. Just like that, Issā Mansi, who is Issā, has also passed away; they too have ascended above. After them, there is no one else besides that. Now, he is their pope, and another is not a pope; he is someone else. This means, then, what happens to us is that... This has happened, but God is not within it. They just always go to their church and pray. In that, they say to God, "I am a sinner, I am a sinner..." You firmly believe that you do not make mistakes, but I do make mistakes. When I make mistakes, the thoughts that arise—did it happen or not—are the same. Just as Jesus has passed away and his Bhagavān is no longer present, similarly, as it is said in Punjabi, it is written within Guru Karan. At the end, in the Guru Granth, Guru Nānak Sahab said that in this Kali Yuga and the ages to come, the true Guru will not be found. Therefore, I have written this Granth, which is like that Guru, the Guru, the Guru... The guru who has truth in his heart delves within himself; similarly, there are others as well, including some Muslims. The first point is that they have never seen Bhagavān; within Islam, Bhagavān is not seen. Now, what was written by the one who wrote the Qur’ān? Inside him, they say Allah, and who is Allah whom we call Paramapita Paramātmā? Paramātmā is one and the same. It is only the name that they say Allah, and we say Param Paramātmā. There is no difference at all, but now their second guru... There is none, but in our Sanātana Dharma, from age to age, two Bhagavāns come: one who is established in the hermitage, and the other who is always moving about, whom we call our Guru. On top of this, there are large mangoes growing, very big ones indeed, on this terrace; those mangoes are on this terrace, so this... These people from Kapil’s family—who are they? You belong to the Agarwāl community, another is Megwāl, another calls himself a Brahmin, and so on. But in the end, it is all the same; that is the only difference. That is why those people, who once had a single Guru and now do not, hold on to that very one and say, “Now there is only one for us, and we all are the same.” There is only one, and the one you have is the same as ours. That one is called Brahman. If it were to move forward, then Sanātan Dharma would never perish. Various systems have come into existence—whether political systems, religious systems, or anything else—they will eventually vanish, but Sanātan will never disappear. Why does Sanātana mean these five elements—fire, air, water, earth—they are all included; trees and plants, animals, terrestrial beings, aquatic beings, aerial beings, all are parts of that same Sanātana. Do not think that we will not follow Sanātana Dharma. We often go elsewhere, others say this is right, that one does that. He says, "We have returned to them." What do you say? No, it is darkness; you are fighting within that very darkness. That is why it was said that those who go before these people are not truly themselves. It was said that the path, the path, the path—one who seeks the path, the path, the path—there is a shrine of the path’s follower that the follower has not yet reached. Understand the quarrels of the path; destroy that path. This is mine, that is me—there is a conflict within the path itself. So, in the joining of paths, the path has not understood Bhagavān; it simply does not exist there. What you call a path, there is nothing in it. That path is merely indulgence. So, in the search for the path, what did you say, little Bābajī? The meaning of path is the search for the path; one path remains the same, and whoever walks it with truth, there is Bhagavān within everyone, even within animals. Now, the sad part is that those Hindus in Hindustan who did not eat meat, fish, eggs, etc., now it is known... If you start eating eggs and meat, then see what the problem is—you will not like it. What I am saying is that the guru said, "Pade likhe murk, pade likhe murk" (educated fools). Now these educated fools who have gone into science, science means that some have some sense, some do not. Now that... They say we are doing research, but what research is there to do now? First, it was Thai, now what research are you doing? But no, we will do research. This has been created, you see, so many well-educated scientists are emerging, and they do not even understand what science truly is. This is one thing, and there is an even better point—now aeroplanes... They have made airplanes, televisions as well, but how did all this destroy everything? Take, for example, bhindi—okra. You know, the bhindi from forty or thirty years ago, we used to eat that, and it used to be so delicious and flavorful. Guarphali used to make such a good vegetable. Similarly, the bhindi of today... What has been done from the seed? What do they say? They don’t say it’s high-bred, but they will say one is the son of one father, the other is the son of another father. So what do they say? What was the matter with this? We have seen and observed. I am talking about the children. What are the two sins? One is, what is sin, and the other, the other destroys everything. What all? The body, we are small... Yes, yes, you all were just born then, some older, some younger. At that time, when I was about 60 or 65 years old, what used to be shown to us were government films. And in those, what was shown was, oh, so many big farmers growing bajrī. This, brother, this hybrid bajra is very good. Now, our people, the elders and all, say, "Oh, the hybrid is from Bhagavān." These are from our Jāt brothers, our farmer brothers, who provide grains and large, robust seeds. And the hybrid is indeed from Bhagavān, right? Varṇaśaṅkara, Varṇaśaṅkara... They select and firmly stamp it, but they abandon the selection and give a hybrid millet instead. No, see, it should be just that much, and then you should add jair. Otherwise, by adding urea, you completely destroy your entire prakṛti. Today, all the seeds of crops, whether millet or sesame, yes, whoever it was, everyone was made to do baranśankar, now that baranśankar was done, how it was done, that too very well. Whether illiterate or literate, they are literate illiterates. So there was a woman, or there was a madman who would break everything in the village, breaking this, breaking that... He used to do it, and one day someone said, "Hey madman, you are crazy, right? Don’t do this, brother." So, he said, "What’s the big deal about one day? Don’t set the whole village on fire in one day." Oh, I forgot all that. One day, when Diwali was about to happen, he took fire and went here and there, setting the whole village ablaze. That’s what he did. What is it? Rather, the father of Śaṅkara has destroyed everything. Now what should we do? Well, Śaṅkara is also there, so let’s proceed. But what now is that the V and the seed will not sprout on your soil anymore. Now you will have to bring new seeds, you will have to bring Bajiro Dān. I thought that I need a very good yellow seed, a very good yellow seed, which is mustard. So it would be better somewhere else; I had brought it from Haryana and planted it there in winter. It would have been very good. The second time, planting the same seeds, the leaves grew a little bit, but there were pests and insects, nothing else. See, if you marry this girl, then she will bring you grass and give it to you. Oh brother, at least then, don’t do this; if not, then at least don’t work like this. By giving money, you are spoiling our cultures. That is why I say, you should call your parents just "mātā-pitā," and if you call them that from childhood, then it will happen, won’t it? And those children will become the children of their father. In this school, you will say "tere"... Father, they say no, not my father, my father is mine. I am Hindu, I am Sanātan, this is my India. But the power was not in the flow, why is birth needed? The child is already there. And that father, son, that woman, that woman, that voice theft, they say, come, I am your father, secure no, I am your mother, that sin did not... That is why it is said that now its end is approaching. No, our culture continues to flow even now, it still continues. But gradually, you have abandoned dharma. What is said today? The cow is considered a mother. Now, some mad people say that there is no such thing as a mother. Oh, so what can we do now? The sad thing is that our... Even those who follow Hindu dharma have started eating beef. They simply say that the deity is the end, so this is the end. Therefore, dear ones, do not say that this is one dharma and that is another dharma; all dharmas are one. Your own dharma is... The duty of parents is to teach their children what is right, because an uneducated person may be foolish, but even an educated person can be foolish. Śrīman Nārāyaṇ Nārāyaṇ...
