The Eternal Presence: On Mahāśramādhi and the Light Within
The nature of a great being's departure is not an absence but a merging into universal presence. Brahmalīna signifies the soul entering oneness with the highest consciousness. Such beings remain present on every level of vision for all. We receive more light through devotion, like sunlight entering an open window. Ordinary death brings grief from a sense of loss, but for those with true Self-knowledge, it is different. There is a transient ātmā jñāna, easily lost in conflict, and the final, stable knowledge at life's end. We cry from our own emotion, not because they are gone; the Brahman is always present. They move from being with us externally to residing within our heart and memory. This light of presence is global, like that of Jesus, sustained by devotion. God is one, manifesting differently; dualistic division causes suffering. We remember in our whole being. The body disappears, but we do not.
"Brahmalīna: 'Brahma' means Brahman, the highest consciousness. It signifies that the ātmā, the soul, enters into oneness with the whole universe."
"God is only one, but is manifesting differently in the whole."
