We are all in God

Prayer is the greatest power and the best medicine.

We pray for all suffering from this disease, for innocent animals and people, that they may be forgiven. All creatures are powerless, but God is there. In God's house there is delay, but no darkness; truth emerges. We should not torture animals or humans. We are all brothers and sisters, sharing one earth. Perhaps animal suffering caused this. Vegetarianism from birth matters—not temporary abstention. Eggs are unhealthy; consider how chickens are treated. Bread and salt are holy; respect them. Eating habits cause disease. The human digestive system is long, food stays for days. Eat less to preserve prana. Politicians are working hard. We should relax, be positive, and pray. Prayer is the biggest thing.

"Prayer is one of the greatest powers and the best medicine."

"In God's house there may be delay, but there is no darkness, and so the truth comes out."

And so today, for all of us gathered here in New Zealand—at the Yogananda Life Centre in Auckland, across all the centres in New Zealand, all our devotees and bhaktas, as well as those joining from other countries, especially from Australia—we are praying. My prayer is that we pray for all people who are suffering from this disease. Where did this infection begin? We do not know its origin, but our Chinese brothers and sisters have shared what is happening, and it is spreading to all other countries. Perhaps it was present even earlier. Now we pray. First, we pray for all innocent animals, creatures, and so forth. We pray for them, and also for the many people who are unaware. Innocently, may they be forgiven—we pray to God to forgive all. Prayer is one of the greatest powers and the best medicine. This is very important, my dear brothers and sisters. At the same time, we know that, innocently or purposely, we kill animals. I feel that all creatures have no power in their hands, but I know that God is there. We say, "Bhagavān ke ghar der hai, andher nahī̃ hai." In God's house there may be delay, but there is no darkness, and so the truth comes out. I pray and request of us all that we should not torture animals—and, of course, also not humans. We are all brothers and sisters, from all countries, wherever we are, for we all dwell on the one earth. That is all. We share the same soil, we share our water, we share everything. We are this, and we are all in God. Perhaps the animals were suffering, so they cried out to God, and that is why something is happening. But we would still try to purify. Now, there is a question: who had this infection, and how did they not? Who was protected, who became saved, and who was not? These are my feelings: around the whole world, who is practicing yoga—especially integrating yoga into their life—and who is not consuming drugs, anything, or meat, and also living yoga? All others, my brothers, our sisters, our yogīs. I would like to know if you can tell me how many people died or were affected by these infections, and how many were not. This is number one. Number two: I would also like to say that all those people who are vegetarian, not necessarily practicing yoga, but they are vegetarians from birth—that’s what matters. Not now, when we are in trouble and say, "I will not do, I will not do," but after two or three months they will eat the same thing again. So it is that, from the very birthday, parents should take care not to give children such things—meat and this and that. Also, eggs, my dear. It doesn’t matter what anyone tells. Many scientists and doctors will tell you everything. But I tell you, eggs are not healthy. And consider how the chickens are treated and how the eggs are produced. Disease may also be coming from such things. Oh man, we have enough good things. God has given fruits, vegetables, and many good things. Our cows, our buffaloes, our goats—the animals who give milk—offer us pure milk. And it is said that your mother, it is your mother who gave you the milk; and now, after that, you kill your mother? No. Therefore, in India we say, and it is so in other countries too—I am not only talking about India. Now, when you go to the whole of Russia, all of Croatia, Slovakia, Yugoslavia, and many of these countries, there are some who will say "Yes." When a guest comes to someone’s home, what does the host do? They will bring a plate. The plate can be small, it doesn’t matter. Then the host will come five steps out of the door, and there is bread. Do you know what bread is? Holy. For all Christians and all, this is holy. And so the bread and salt—not a sweet, not butter, no, no—the bread and salt. In the Bible it is written that we are the salt of the earth. We are the salt of the earth. We all came from the earth, and we will again go to the earth. Therefore, respect the salt and the bread. Now, what do they do? They offer you a loaf of bread and salt. And, of course, they offer you. Besides, they place a knife, perhaps to break butter if you wish, otherwise not. And if you accept, you should take a little bread and salt and eat it. Then it means they say, "You accepted me," and we say, "You, we accepted thee." Now we are not only friends; we are brothers and sisters. Please come into our house; it is true. Now, my question is this: Are you—how to say—are you aware that what I am saying is right? Speak. Yes, so many said yes, this is so. If you go to Russia, I go to many other countries: in Vienna, Croatia, Slovenia, Slovakia, many, many of these countries, and there is something very, very spiritual about it—it is said that Jesus breathed this. Now, when you go to the church and we pray, and the priest afterwards gives us a piece of bread, they say Jesus said, "If you are eating, you are eating me, my blood, my blood," so you should not kill anybody. Do you know this? Yes, yes. Similarly, we have the same thing in India. And in India, it is said, "Jiske ghar namak khāyā, uskā kabhī bhī aisā mat karnā." He nahī? Namak kharā. Namak kharān. So when you come to a family in India and they give you food, then it means you should never, ever do anything bad in that house, because they have become your friend. Salt. You ate the salt in that house. Do you remember? Gandhiji fought for freedom. There was fighting. Gandhiji said, "No, we will not fight." No weapons, nothing. And for the salt, they were all fighting. So he took the salt with him and said, "Let’s eat that." So, my dear, we humans again have to come back to our ancestors, to how they were treating us. It was not always like this. Animals were killed, and people were eating, and they were healthy. At that time, people were living for two hundred years, and now, not even one hundred years. We are, when you are thirty years old, we are already—that’s our life. Thirty years, I tell you, or let’s say maximum forty years, and very, very maximum fifty years. What does that mean? What do I say? I am climbing here. I was on the earth, and now I am growing, coming, coming to a height. Here, I am twenty-five years old. Where are you going, boy? Now twenty-five, and now you go down twenty-five years. If fifty years is Hari Om, bye-bye. Or forty years, then eighty years finished, bye-bye. Because as much as you climb, that much you have to come down again. But at that time, people were living very healthily, and they were eating in the morning, then a little after lunch, and then in the evening. In India, we say that little, little breakfast; that is what we call Alp Āhār. Alp Āhār, and you know in Europe, near the mountains, they are called the Alps. And what does Alps mean? The meaning of Alp is a small Himalaya. It is coming from the Himalaya, and it... It is said, "Alp, Alp," it is small, and also eating alp āhāra. In the morning, don’t eat too much; take your time. Dinner, lunch, take it very well, and dinner soft, healthy. Only at that time, drink the water. But nowadays, including myself—who am I to tell you this? I am telling it to myself. If not, then one chewing gum. If not, then one nut. After not even half an hour, some fruit. Why? It’s a god. All the time, all the time a human’s jaw is moving. They said, "What is that? Please don’t be angry." It is the nature of the goat, and that is a goat, and they have a stomach hanging. But still, once upon a time, there was a little story. There are stories of the kings, what was happening at that time, because kings were doing stupid things—and good things, sorry, we are all like this. So one king wanted to give a challenge. He said that if someone gives me a goat that is completely full, has eaten and will not eat anymore, and waits for a while or sits with me, then I will have a feeder for her. So many said, "Okay." The goat was completely full, eating grass in the field and everything, like a drum. And it came; the shepherd brought the goat quickly there, and she’s coming there. And what was this? The goat, and they put some fodder there. So, he said, "Brock, his goat there," and the goat did not go towards the king; he went there to eat again. So, he said, "That is not in you." So all the time, who was the winner? The goat? No, the goat and the king? The other did not. So, similarly, we generally call it eating like a goat. All the time, all the time, all the time. And that is why they can digest food, but others cannot. This is number one. Others, doctors said, "I don’t know." They said that those animals who eat only meat have a small, intense time. But humans have 8.5 meters of digestive system—how much? Eight meters, maybe more than that. Food goes in the stomach slowly, slowly, slowly. You eat, we eat today, and it will remain in certain parts of them for four days. That’s why there is disease, and disease, and disease. But if we eat slowly and for a long time, it will digest, then we have time to give for digestion. You remember, the day before yesterday, one of our Indian brothers was telling exactly this, how it is. Cancer and all these diseases, oh human, are a problem because of our eating. Hospitals—there were rare hospitals anywhere. And now they are on every street. There is a hospital, and it is full, completely. Why? Because of the eating. Eating less means eating less, and having more prāṇa. Otherwise, when we eat more, then it means that our prāṇa goes away. Ānamaya Kośa, Prāṇamaya Kośa, Manomaya Kośa, Vijñānamaya Kośa, Ānandamaya Kośa—this is according to Yoga. And so, about this, I pray once more. And please, give us the message, right, of how many persons were affected everywhere. But who was dying? Who was suffering very much? And many, they have energy, they will not be affected. So also the vegetarians, how many are there? In India, they are eating more meat than others now. And that’s why they are suffering. Indians are suffering so much, you cannot imagine. They think, "Now we have to be great like the British, eating always." Why? But the British, they don’t eat like that. Anyhow, I don’t want to tell. Both sides are good, and they are not good. So in this step, the bhajan which I taught about this, and Mahāprabhujī said... He said, "Humans, you are a human, you are not an animal." And therefore, he said, Kabīr Dājī, a human body is God’s body, but take care. And how? Give this mic. Bhagavān Kī Jai, Kabīr Dās Mahārāj Kī Jai, Sanātana Dharma Kī Jai, Om Śānti Hi Śānti. So, my dear, the whole world nowadays is alert, especially the politicians. All the politicians are trying very hard for their generation or the people of their country. Also, they try to support many governments in other countries. Every minister is telling how to do things, what to protect, everything. For example, in my India, Prime Minister Modījī. Four days ago, in the French Way book, I saw and learned. Modiji very carefully and nicely told, "Please, we should wash hands more times. Also, clean your mouth and this." Second, that anyone who comes closer, we shall keep the distance, because—not me, Modiji said—it doesn’t matter how silently you talk, but still something from the mouth comes to swallow. And therefore, if we can put the hand like this, or be a little at a distance… So, they also give much help. And you know, Modiji sent lots and lots of support also in the—where it was in the Middle East, somewhere. Where was it? Iran. In Iran, there was some kind of conflict, but anyhow, he sent the doctors, medicines, etc. There are many Hindus there, and also Muslims, etc. Modiji has done great, great help. He is doing, and not only there. Similarly, all the prime ministers, and I’m sure all are doing the best. There are some people who will say, "Oh, my government has done nothing, and I have to go to another country." Yes, but they protect you. They are protecting you so that you will not be given an infection somewhere further when you are clean and this. So, the best is to relax peacefully, have positive thoughts, and be prayerful. Prayer is the biggest. Prayer is the biggest thing. So, once more, we shall respect and help our political people, because they are not doing what they don’t want to do. They are doing very much. At the airport, they are doing everything. We are all working together, so I am sure that it will be very soon. I will be healthy again. Thank you, my dear sisters and brothers around the world. I pray to the Supreme, the Highest, the God, the Gurudev, Dīp Nārāyaṇa Bhagavān, Mahāprabhujī, Devpurījī, and Satguru Svāmī Madhavānandajī Bhagavān. Se Pṛthvī, prayer that all becomes again normal and healthy. Om Śānti, Śānti, ... Om, Om.
