We are all in God

A prayer for healing and reflection on suffering and purification.

A collective prayer is offered for all beings suffering from disease. Prayer is a great power and medicine. Actions taken without knowledge, including against innocent animals, require forgiveness. Justice from God may be delayed but is certain. Observing the world suggests those integrating yoga and lifelong vegetarianism show resilience. The human body is sacred and requires care. Modern consumption patterns, like constant eating, are unnatural and lead to disease. Eating less allows for greater vital energy. All people share one earth and must return to it. Political leaders worldwide are working diligently; they deserve respect and support during this time. The ultimate path is to relax peacefully, maintain positive thoughts, and pray.

"Bhagavān ke ghar der hai, andher nahī̃ hai."

"Humans, you are a human, you are not an animal."

Śraddhā pānīra jana, śabaduka bhā Prabhu, Dīpā, Nirañjana, Sabhā, Duḥkha, Bhajan, Dhāraṇa, Bhagavān, Kī. Today, for all of us here in New Zealand, Auckland, at the Yogananda Life Center, for all centers in New Zealand, for all our devotees and bhaktas, and for everyone from other countries, especially Australia, we gather in prayer. We pray for all people suffering from this disease, these infections. We do not know where it began, but our Chinese brothers and sisters have told us what is happening, and it has spread to other countries. Perhaps it existed before as well. First, we pray for all innocent animals and creatures. We pray for them, and for the many people who act without knowledge. May they be forgiven. We pray to God to forgive all. Prayer is one of the greatest powers and the best medicine. This is very important, my dear brothers and sisters. At the same time, we know we kill animals, whether innocently or purposely. I believe all creatures have no power in their hands, but God is there. We say, "Bhagavān ke ghar der hai, andher nahī̃ hai." In God’s house, there may be delay, but there is no darkness; justice will come. I pray and request that we should not torture animals. Of course, we should not torture humans either. We are all brothers and sisters from all countries. We are all on one earth. We share the same soil, water, and everything. We are all in God. Perhaps from the suffering of the animals, their cries have reached God, and that is why something is happening. Still, we must try to purify. Now, a question arises: who contracted this illness and who did not? Who was protected, who was saved and who was not? My feeling, observing the whole world, is that those practicing yoga, especially integrating yoga into their lives—those not drinking, doing drugs, or eating meat—our brothers, sisters, and yogīs—I would like to know: how many of them have died from these infections? How many? None. This is point one. Point two: I would also like to mention all those people who are vegetarian from birth, not just now during troubles saying, "I will not do it," only to resume after two or three months. It should be from birth. Parents should now take care not to give children things like meat. Also, eggs, my dear. It doesn’t matter what others say. Many scientists and doctors will tell you everything, but I tell you, eggs are not healthy. Consider the chickens, how they are treated, and how eggs are produced. Such things may also be a source of problems. Oh man, we have enough good things. God has given us fruits, vegetables, and many good things. Our cows, buffaloes, and goats—these animals give us pure milk. It is said that your mother is the one who gave you milk. Would you now kill your mother? No. Therefore, in India we say, and it is also in other countries—I am not only talking about India—when you go to Russia, Croatia, Slovakia, Yugoslavia, and many others, there are some who understand. When a guest comes to someone’s home, what does the host do? They bring a plate. The host will come five steps out of the door. There is bread—and you know bread is holy for all Christians and everyone. So, bread and salt, not sweets or butters. No. Bread and salt. In the Bible, it is written that we are the salt of the earth. We are all from the earth, and to the earth we shall return. Therefore, respect the salt and the bread. They offer you a loaf of bread and salt. Besides, they place a knife to break bread or butter if you wish. If you accept, you take a little bread and salt and eat it. This means you have accepted them, and they say, "We accept thee." Now we are not only friends; we are brothers and sisters. Please come into our house. My question is this: are you in agreement with what I say? Speak. Yes. Many say yes. If you go to Russia, and I have been to many countries like Croatia, Slovenia, Slovakia, there is a very, very spiritual God. It is said that Jesus breathed. When you go to church and we pray, the priest gives us a piece of bread. Jesus said, "If you are eating, you are eating me, my blood, my body." So you should not kill anybody. Do you know this? Yes. Similarly, we have the same in India. In India, when you come to a family and they give you food to eat, it means you should never do anything bad to that house because they have become your friend. You ate the salt in that house. Remember? Gandhiji was fighting. He said, "No, we will not fight," with no weapons. They fought for salt. He took salt and said, "Let’s do that." My dear, we humans must come back to how our ancestors treated us and this world. It was not always like this. Animals were killed and eaten; people were healthy. In those times, people lived 200 years. Now, not even 100 years. When you are 30 years old, that is already your life. Thirty years, I tell you, or maximum 40, and very maximum 50 years. What does that mean? I am climbing here. I was on the earth, and now I am growing in height. Here I am at twenty-five years. Where are you going, boy? At twenty-five, you then go down twenty-five years. If fifty years, then Hari Om, bye-bye. For forty years, then eighty years finished, bye-bye. Because as much as you climb, that much you have to come down again. In those times, people lived very healthily. They ate in the morning, a little after lunch, and then in the evening. In India we say "little, little breakfast," which we call alpāhāra. You know, in Europe near the mountains, they are called the Alps. What does Alps mean? It means a small Himalaya. It comes from the Himalaya, and it is said the Alps are small. Similarly, eating alpāhāra: in the morning, do not eat too much. Take time with dinner and lunch. Dinner should be soft and healthy, and drink water only at that time. But nowadays, including myself—who am I to tell you this? I am telling myself—if not eating, then one chewing gum. If not, then one nut. After not even half an hour, some fruit. Why? All the time, all the time the human jaw is moving. They said, "What is that?" Please don’t be angry. It is the nature of the goat. The goat has a big stomach hanging, but still... There is a little story. Once, a king gave a challenge. He said if someone brought him a goat that was completely full, had eaten, and would not eat anymore, and would wait or sit with him, then he would provide a feeder for it. Many tried. They brought a goat completely full from eating grass in the field, like a drum. The shepherd brought the goat quickly, but what happened? The goat was placed there with some fodder. The goat did not go to the king; it went to eat again. So the king said, "That goat is not satisfied." So, who was the winner? The goat? No, the goat and the king. Others did not win. Similarly, we generally call it eating like a goat—all the time, all the time. That is why they can digest food, but others cannot. This is point one. Doctors say they do not know. They say animals that eat only meat have a small intestine, but humans have a digestive system of 8.5 meters, maybe more. Food goes into the stomach slowly. You eat today, and it remains in a certain part of the stomach for four days. That is why there is disease and disease. But if we eat slowly and for a long time, it will digest, and we give time for digestion. Remember, day before yesterday, one of our Indian brothers was explaining exactly this—how it leads to cancer and all these diseases. Oh human, it is that problem because of everything. Hospitals? There were rare hospitals anywhere. Now, in every street there is a hospital, and they are completely full. Why? Eating. The principle is: eat less, eat less, and have more prāṇa. When we eat more, our prāṇa goes away. Annamaya kośa, prāṇamaya kośa, manomaya kośa, vijñānamaya kośa, ānandamaya kośa—this is according to yoga. Regarding this, I pray once more. Please give us the message: how many persons were affected, but who was dying, who was suffering very much? Many have energy and will not be affected. Also, how many vegetarians are there? In India, they are eating more meat than others now, and that is why they are suffering. Indians are suffering so much, you cannot imagine. They think, "Now we have to be great, like the British, eating always." Why? The British do not eat like that. Anyhow, I do not want to elaborate. Both sides have good and not good. In this context, the bhajan I taught about this, and what Mahāprabhujī said. He said, "Humans, you are a human, you are not an animal." Therefore, he said, Kabīr Dājī, a human body is God’s body, but take care. How? Give this... What is that? But very cold, what was it? My dear, the whole world is now alert, especially in politics. All politicians are trying very hard for their generation and their country’s people. They also try to support governments in other countries. Every minister is telling how to act, what to protect. For example, in my India, Prime Minister Modījī. Four days ago, on Facebook, I saw and learned. Modiji very carefully told us nicely, "Please, we should wash hands more often. Also, clean your mouth." Second, that anyone who comes closer, we shall keep distance because, not me, Modiji said, and he said, "It doesn’t matter how silently you talk, something still comes from the mouth to swallow." Therefore, if we can put our hand like this or keep a little distance. They have also given much help. You know, Modiji sent lots and lots of support to the Middle East, to Iran. In Iran, there was some conflict, but he sent doctors and medicines. There are many Hindus and Muslims there. Modiji has done great, great help. He is doing so, and not only there. Similarly, all prime ministers, and I am sure all are doing their best. Some people will say, "Oh, my government has done nothing, and I have to go to another country." Yes, but they protect you. They are protecting you so you will not get an infection further when you are clean. The best is to relax peacefully, have positive thoughts, and pray. Prayer is the biggest thing. Once more, we should respect and help our political people because they are not doing what they don’t want to do. They are doing very much at the airports; they are doing everything. We are all working together, so I am sure it will be very soon. We will be healthy again. Thank you, my dear sisters and brothers around the world. I pray to the Supreme, the Highest, God, Gurudev, Deep Nārāyaṇ Bhagavān, Mahāprabhujī, Devapurījī, and Satguru Svāmī Madhavānandjī Bhagavān, for a prayer (Prārthanā) that all becomes normal and healthy again. Om Śānti, Śānti,... Om, Om, Om.
