The Guru's Continuity and the Practice of Yoga Nidrā

The guru lineage is eternal and singular, transcending the physical departure of any teacher. The original Gurudeva remains your guru even after going to Brahmaloka. Successors continue the guidance, yet they are respected as gurubhāī, not as a replacement for that one guru. The practice of Yoga Nidrā is a deep relaxation and inner journey. Lie down in Ānanda Āsana, withdraw from the external world, and make a positive saṅkalpa. Systematically bring awareness to each part of the body, from the toes to the head. Feel the prāṇa and energy within. Use this awareness to purify negative thoughts and diseases, traveling within the immortal self. Conclude by repeating your saṅkalpa and gently returning awareness to the physical body.

"The guru is only one, and for ages and ages and ages, that guru-paramparā is always there."

"Withdraw thyself from the external world and withdraw thyself within thyself."

We will now practice Yoganidrā. What was the question? Before that, there was something to speak about? Then let it go, together. Please lie down for Yoganidrā. The question was: when the Gurudeva goes to Brahmaloka, what happens to the disciples? Should we have another guru? There is no other guru. The guru is only one, and for ages and ages and ages, that guru-paramparā is always there. For example, you know Alakhpurījī was in Satyuga, but now he is our guru also. And when other gurus, the successors, come, they will continue to guide you. But still, your guru is that Gurujī who has gone to Brahmaloka. Therefore, even when a successor comes, they are your gurubhāī. You should respect them, but still, they are your gurubhāī. Thank you. Hari Om. Now, we have Yoga Nidrā today. Lie down on your back. Put your telephones away. Be silent. Lie down on your back. Place your hands beside your body. Siddha Purījī, Siddha Purījī, Siddha Purījī... Today, Yoga Nidrā. This is that general Yoga Nidrā which, according to Yoga and life, you are learning. It has been 51 years, this Yoga Nidrā. Relax, relax. Before we practice Yoga Nidrā three times, make a saṅkalpa. Mentally make your saṅkalpa three times. But this saṅkalpa should not be negative, because whatever you will do, that will go negatively or positively within thyself. Therefore, make your saṅkalpa—perhaps for your good health, for your family situations, for the studies you are starting, for your job, your spirituality, divinity, etc. There are many saṅkalpas. Now, repeat your saṅkalpa three times, and the Yoga Nidrā will also end with it. It will be the same. Therefore, now, make your saṅkalpa resolution three times. And now, bring your awareness towards your whole physical body, from the toes to the top of the head, and from the top of the head to the toes. Relax, relax. Just listen and feel very relaxed. Do not try to think over the instructions which I am giving, but just hear and follow the instructions. Feel the whole body. You are lying on the floor in the Ānanda Āsana. Ānanda Āsana. Ānanda Āsana. You are in the position of the very happy, joyful, peaceful, and relaxed. Withdraw thyself from the external world and withdraw thyself within thyself. Try to see each and every part of the body. Just follow, feel your right toes: your right big toe, the second toe, the third, the fourth, and the fifth. There is an immense amount of prāṇa. All five toes and feet are awakening all energies and vibrations, very present, very peaceful. Feel your heel, the foot, ankle joint, the calf muscles, your right knee. Try to begin, go within thyself. Focus on each and every part of your body—the knee, the thigh, the hip joint, the side muscles of your body, the whole trunk of the body, the armpit, your shoulder, the upper arm, the right elbow, the lower arm, the wrist, the palm. Right thumb, index finger, middle finger, ring finger, and small finger, and your hand, the whole arm, and all the limbs of the arm—immense energy, comfortable, joyful. Your right side of the neck, the left neck, the whole neck. And again, from the right side is finished, but it is in your very divine, peaceful feeling. Now the left side: left big toe, second toe, third toe, fourth toe, and fifth toe. Left side, left foot sole—again immense feelings, powers—the foot, ankle joints, calf muscles, knee, kneecap, below the knee, the thigh, the whole leg, hip joint, the side muscles of the trunk. The left hand, the left shoulder, armpit, upper arm, elbow, wrist, left thumb, index finger, middle finger, left ring finger, small finger, and palm of the hand. Feel the whole body. Feel your left buttock, the right buttock. Right waist, left waist, abdomen, the lower part of the abdomen. Feel your navel, your stomach. Feel your lungs, the right lung, the left lung, all the organs, the heart. Feel the heartbeat and feel the inhalation and exhalation of the lungs. The right chest, the left chest, the shoulders, the left and right shoulders, your throat, your chin. Feel your left and right cheeks, the right nostril and the left nostril. Breathe comfortably, very comfortably. Gently, the eyelids are closed. The right and left eyebrows, the forehead, the back of the head, the back of the head... The body, the whole spinal column, left and right side of your back body. Come towards your head, the right and left, your ears, left temple and right temple. And finally, feel your whole head within thyself, the whole power in your brain. The right hemisphere, the left hemisphere, and try to feel Sahasrāra Cakra, Bindu Cakra, Ājñā Cakra. And try to feel from the toes, through the whole legs and body, everything—bring it into your brain. The back point of your body is going so beautifully, lightless, like you are fluttering in the water, bringing all prāṇa’s power into the head. From the tips of the fingers, very gently feel the fingers, palms, wrists, elbows, upper arms, shoulders. Hold a very fine feeling into your Brahmaloka Sahasrāra Cakra. Light, sparkling the light, sparkling the light and feeling in the body, the whole body. You feel a beautiful feeling of love, a divine vibration in the body, and you try to go within your body. Imagine that your ātmā, through your mental power, you are traveling within your body. Feel: all my disease goes away. All my negative thinking goes away. All tensions go away. All anger is gone. I give myself, my whole body. From within I am, but it is whole life. We have to go through this journey within our self, pure, pure, in your body—immortal energy, beautiful, immortal, not only like honey, but immortal. Enter through your toes, through the whole body, hands, legs, through your bones and joints. It is your healing body. Go into each and every limb of the body. Give pure divine feelings. Relax. I know that I am inhaling. I know that I am in my beautiful body, my immortal being. I am trying to purify all that is negative and dirty, and get only nectar. Let it flow, don’t block it. Through this Yoga Nidrā, you will one day become very light, and you will feel that you are fluttering in this space. But not now. A long, long time you have to take. On one day, Gurudeva, Gurudeva... In this, nothing happens the wrong way. Therefore, repeat your mantra, the anāhata mantra, your mantra. That is like light, energy, protection, and the guiding grace of the guru. Your Yoga Nidrā leads you. Now, feel the prāṇa from the lower part of the body to the head. I know I’m inhaling with the prāṇa, sending and descending the breath, sending and descending the breath. I am, I am. I have no more desire. I am coming out of the 8.4 million creatures' lives. Now I am the human body for the Brahman. Only I have one. I am holding this, sending and descending breath. Follow your stomach expanding and contracting. And with this, with all five of your bodies, you are within that. And repeat your saṅkalpa three times. And now, try to feel your body from the outside, from the toes to the top of the head. From the tips of the fingers to the head, from the back of the whole body, and the front of the whole body. All your feelings, your lungs, your heart, your chest, the whole—feel from the outside. Now, try to take a few deep inhales. Deep inhale through the nostrils and exhale from the nostrils. Your saṅkalpa, remember always until it comes to fulfillment. Slowly, deep inhale and exhale. Inhale, exhale. Inhale, exhale. And now, move your fingers and toes. Move your feet, your legs, your knees, your thighs, your fingers, your wrists, your elbows, your shoulders. Slightly turn your neck to the right and then to the left. Stretch your hands above your head and stretch your legs. Roll yourself left and right and left, hands to the left side, and sit up. Open your eyes, sit comfortably, and hurry home.
