The Story of Sri Pukraji Maharaj

True devotion arises from the heart, not from scholarship or possessions. A disciple's sincere prayer, born from inner experience, holds great power. The Guru's grace provides everything needed for the devotee's life and spiritual progress, often in unexpected ways. Formal education is not a prerequisite for divine connection or composing sacred poetry. What matters is humility, goodness, and the authenticity of one's heart. Even at life's end, the repeated name of the divine eases the soul's passage, transcending all worldly identities and religious distinctions.

"Gurujī gave everything, but Gurujī did not give you from the pocket."

"Without Gurudev, we can run away, we can do many things."

Oṁ Namaḥ Śrī Prabhu Dīp Nārāyaṇam. Oṁ Namaḥ Śrī Prabhu Dīp Nārāyaṇam. Sab Dāsa Prabhu Sar Parāyaṇam. Śrī Dīp Nārāyaṇa Bhagavān Kī, Devādhi Deva, Deveśvara Mahādeva Kī, Ārādhi Śrī Devapurīṣa Mahādeva Kī, Alakhpurījī Mahādeva Kī, Oṁ Śānti, Oṁ Śānti,... Satguru Svāmī Madhavānandajī Bhagavān Kī Jai. Today we have a bhajan from our dear Maṅgalmaṇī. Very good. Thank you. Very nice, Maṅgal Purī. That’s very, very good. Now, today we will see how the flower will be blossoming like this. This is one of the best, very good prayers. We have many prayers which have been spoken and made into these bhajans. When a bhakta, after meditation or sādhanā—whatever we call it—or after writing something, makes a prayer, it comes from the heart. This prayer is from our dear Pushpa. She was chanting a very good bhajan, and she is the disciple of Mahāprabhujī, Holī Gurujī. Mahāprabhujī, Holī Gurujī, have brought this person to Mahāprabhujī also. His name is Pukhraj, and by profession, he is a tailor. Pukhraj’s mother was from my mother’s village in Nepal. So, there are many bhaktas coming together. In our Līlāmṛta book, everything is written very nicely. There are some people who have known, they did not study, not college, university, next to nothing, but Guru Kṛpāhi Kevalam, Śiṣya Ke Ānandam, Ānandamaṅgalam. So, one day our Gurujī taught this program. He is also near Nepal, about 50 kilometers or so. I did not think this morning or even during the daytime that I would do this. But also my Gurujī, Mahāprabhujī or Holy Gurujī said, Holy Guruji will not look in the book, and then in the satsaṅg, I will talk about it. What he made has already remained somewhere. Aise Mere Satguru Andharā Bole, Aisā Merā Satguru Andharā Bole, Bhajan Dish. So Gurujī said, "Let’s come with me, young man also, Pukrājī." He took only one little cotton bag. Holy Gurujī said, "What should I take with me?" Gurujī said, "What do you want to take? Nothing. Don’t take anything. Don’t take any luggage." But he said, "How will Gurujī say it?" Mahāprabhujī will give everything. The same thing with Holī Gurujī also. Whenever Mahāprabhujī went to Holī Gurujī, and after Holī Gurujī sent him somewhere, he did not have a suitcase. He was going there, came to the Mahāprabhujī, Holy Gurujī, beautiful āśram in Gujarat, in Ahmedabad, and Gurujī said, "Let’s go to Mumbai." "My God," he said, "where will I sleep?" Gurujī said, "Don’t worry, come on. Mahāprabhujī will do everything before we go. Everything." Same thing, and same thing also for me, I can tell you. I never said where I will stay. I was with the cycle, and there was a wooden sandal. But God gives everything. Pugrājī said, "Gurujī, I am in your holy lotus." Holy Gurujī said, "Why are you worried?" They were seven brothers and one sister. Gurujī said, "Now you sit here, and someone will give you something." One came and brought the machine, and little Gurujī gave him a little shop, etc. Now, they are... you can’t imagine the rich people. Within two years, all were so devoted. If I go anytime, they are all, only one person left; others have passed away. Then they have their children, and their children are mostly in Mumbai. They all know only Mahāprabhujī and Holy Gurujī. Gurujī gave everything, but Gurujī did not give you from the pocket. Guruji was going and said, "Make nice vegetables, sabjī, and good rotī." Gurujī was so close to them, and they were so close. That’s called the Gurudev ke sāth mein. It doesn’t matter if you are a disciple or not. Gurujī said, "Little, they will go and do everything." The whole of Mumbai, many, many places, they have many, many clubs, and they are rich people. So, why am I telling you this? All these devotees, they are telling with Swamiji, they are very good. So, I was moving very much, and then I was in Gujarat, in an ashram, one or two years there alone. And always with Gurujī, I was going to Gujarat. Sometimes two months. And then Gurujī was in Gujarat, he sent me to Mumbai. But that Pukārāj, he was an elderly brother. His wife is still living here. She is a great lady, a great wife. She is also like my real mother. She’s living, and they are all living in Jawaharjana. But whenever I go to Pukārāj, he was sitting with me, and I was making the dressing. All the times he was giving me so much knowledge. He said, in the saṃsāra, it’s not so good. But he said, "I myself," it means Pukarajian, he is already in the ocean, the other side. But my name, he said, my other names, he said, you should become a sannyāsī, you should become Gurujī’s. He was the one who made me what is called a vairāgī. Yes. And Holī Gurujī was angry. When Holī Gurujī came, then he said, "Pukhraj said, ’Psht, we are sitting.’" And Gurujī said, "Pukhraj, Pukhyā, not Pukhraj." What did you talk to him about? Satsaṅg. He said, "I did satsaṅg, nothing." So this is how it was, and that Pukraj, he made a book, a bhajan book, and a very nice prayer, and this prathānā, āratī. So, āratī is not easy to make. You have either in the brain or in the heart. And when it is in the heart, that is called anāhada. Anāhada, there come the bhajans, poetries, etc. Otherwise, you will make, but this is on the surface. The surface is different, and within, that’s very good. So, it is a very nice bhajan. I didn’t want to talk between her bhajans. So, this is that Gurudev can give everything. Even now, you don’t need any kind of scholar. You should be a good scholar, humble, happy, and work at home, whatever it is. Be good to everybody. That’s it. But if you want to run here and there and everywhere, then of course you need to study something. But there is also someone without any study at all who became great, already now a great person. And that’s one woman from South India, Matajī, now they are all calling mother. She’s only hugging my tie, my side, my... And everybody said, "See, Europeans are very emotional." And when they come to hug her, Matajī hugs one of the men or the girl, the woman. Before they come near, people have so much emotion, they are crying. And now, she is also crying with them. So now they have a cloth, and they put a cloth between because Matajī had also not so good, thin skin in it. No, she has a little bit of a lecture, but she doesn’t know Hindi, she doesn’t know English, only something of South Indian. So, you can bring it from within yourself and let everyone know. That’s it. And so, this bhajan, this prayer, and I was thinking it is from the Bāḍīkhāṭū Ṭhākursāhab, but it was similarly like that. And this Gurujī was very, very... next bhajan, please. Dīpāyana Bhagavān Kī, Dev Purīṣa Mahādeva Kī, Satguru Svāmī Madhavānandjī Bhagavān Kī, Alakh Purī Jī Mahādeva Kī, Pukhraj Mahārāj Kī, I call him also Pukhraj Bhai. So, every bhajan, every poet, every prayer, but it has to be really from the heart and not about the object. You are making a bhajan about something or some poet and making a book, and this is the thing. It has to come from that master. For example, there was a person who was blind from birth, and long ago, this blind person had so many bhajans. There is one bhajan which is always "Prabhu Merāj Cittā." Yes, come on. Very good. This is from the very greats, and he didn’t like school and nothing. But what he gives now, in the whole, in the bhajans and everything, is the number one, the best. Come on. Bala Siddhī Pram Bhajanī Kī Jai, Siddhāstī Mahārāj Kī Jai. We call the Sūrdās. Sūrdās means by birth blind. Or someone also becomes blind, and with a stick, walking and going, people will say, "So-and-so does." We are telling that person also, "So-and-so does." But that is so, which is by birth. And we have one, a great saint now, and he knows all Vedas, all Sanskrit, all Hindi, all Gujarati. How many can you? And even at midnight, you tell Swāmījī, he says, "Yes, go," yes, that he will immediately talk. What is the name, Avatārpūrījī? Rām Bhadrācāryajī, and we have seen him at Kumbha Melā also, and our Swāmī Gajānand, and when I got Mahāmaṇḍaleśvar that time, and Gurujī was that, and this Rām Bhadrācārya Mahārāj Jī is very, also close to Gurujī. And so, Gajānanda boss sang a beautiful bhajan, and he likes that bhajan so much. The bhajan is made by Gurujī, but he likes it so much. He is a blind one, but he said to Gajānanda, "Come here." And Gajānanda, he hugged him so much, "My dear, my, oh my brother, you have sent such a bhajan." Which for my country, yes, so, Surdhājī. Thank you. So, that is called the science, the science of the cosmic self. Other is also very good, nothing, I like everything, but the reality is that where we will come to the gods, but not that God, we don’t know, we don’t know in which form God will come. Many there are stories, many things, but the time. In my watch, so again we will pray for all around the whole world, those people who are in difficulty, and health, and any kind of problems, health, etc. We shall pray like yesterday, all our mantras. Come on. Prabhudipaniranjana Sabadukaban Prabhudipaniranjana Sabadukaban He Mahāprabhujī, Bhagavān, Dīp Nārāyaṇa Mahāprabhujī, Devādideva, Deveśvara Mahādevajī, Arṣatguru Svāmī Mādhāvanajī Bhagavān, Alakhpurījī Bhagavān, He Prabhu, He Prabhu,... He Prabhu, please remove all the doubts, all the negatives, all the duties, everything negative away. And be happy, healthy. Śiṣya ke ānanda maṅgalam. Without Gurudev, we can run away, we can do many things. Similarly, the same mantra which we are having—in this mantra, a person lying in the hospital, in problems, then has no... that was prāṇa, to have a long mantra. Therefore, we take this mantra, Rāma, Rāma. Rām Rām... Go ahead, more loud. And so, mostly people have troubles or are in hospitals, and those who even don’t respect and don’t believe in God, the last mantra for them is that which mantras we were doing, either Gurudev, Gurudev, or Rām, Rām, Rām. One forgets everything. Father, mother, children, husband, wife, friends, money, property, everything. Finally, last, that person who is in the bed, who is in bed, he or she knows, that last life, last life for me. And then it is said, Rāma, Rāma,... Rāma. That is, that’s called Karuṇā Swāmī, Karuṇā Swāmī. Karuna nahi, Karuna. Karuna means that one who has lost everything. Very humble and don’t know what to see, what can I do, that is that. Rām, Rām,... Loud or silent, "Rām, Rām," then it is generally very, very much that the ātmā, the soul, goes easily out from the body; otherwise, very painful. Our body is lovely very much, everything, and if something happens, we have many, many problems. We don’t have any problems and pain in the body, but when this name, our soul, our... Ātmā, but we can’t say ātmā, ātmā, then we say Rām, Rām, like Hanumānjī, Rām, Rām,... Like this, like this, he is saying, coughing, but he doesn’t want to stop "Rām Rām," so with his fingers, he is doing "Rām Rām"... Rām, like this means Rām, constantly one, so everyone, the ātmā comes easily from the body out, doesn’t matter, don’t think that I am Hindu or Muslim or this or that, no, no,... This is not true, this is not true. These are all coming after, in Kali Yuga, all this. But in the Satya Yuga, Dvāpara Yuga, that was Bhagavān Rāma, and there is Rāma, Rāma, that’s it. Tomorrow again, satsaṅg. Wish you all the best. Hari Om.
