A Gathering of Hearts

A closing address and spiritual discourse following a week-long yoga seminar.

"In our Yoga in Daily Life, everyone is like brothers and sisters, a family... We are all from this Earth."

"Spirituality is purity, kindness, humbleness, ahiṃsā, and respect... Walk on your own path, the path of our tradition."

The lecturer addresses participants at the conclusion of a seminar at Mahaprabhuji Deep Ashram. He expresses gratitude for the disciplined and loving community effort, defines spirituality as living virtues, and encourages carrying these principles into daily life and local engagement. He concludes with teachings from the Kākabhatī, emphasizing the importance of a guru, inner energy, and devotion.

We offer our reverence and blessings to all the lineages of our holy Gurujīs: Ālakpurījī, Devpurījī, Mahāprabhujī, and all the saints of our spiritual tradition. We adore them and receive their grace. This past week, you have participated in beautiful programs filled with blessings. We have gained much knowledge, spiritual insight, and practical experience. Many brothers and sisters attended this seminar, which was conducted in a very peaceful and disciplined manner. Everyone practiced with love, devotion, and purity. The organizers worked diligently for two months to create this opportunity for all, and the best of it was held here at our Mahāprabhujī Deep Ashram in Strelky. Friends also prepared nourishment for us—breakfast, lunch, dinner, and tea—and everything was managed with discipline. The organizers prepared many beautiful spaces; when it rained, we gathered under a tent. Everyone helped, cleaning their own glasses and plates. Our children were perfect: relaxed, quiet, causing no disturbance. They also practiced yoga and performed lovely dramas. Many friends guarded the ashram, helped with cars, and assisted in many ways. Our gardener tended to the salads and vegetables with great care, and many people helped her. Though the weather has not been very warm, much has grown. Our Yoga in Daily Life students, teachers, and yogīs were present across nearly four different locations, and they all did excellent work. I am very happy and adore all of you for your wonderful efforts. This is what we call discipline. In our Yoga in Daily Life, everyone is like brothers and sisters, a family. Some stay home to care for children while others attend, and then they rotate. It is like one family. We have thousands of teachers, yet they are so humble that one often cannot distinguish between student and teacher. In this seminar, we learned not only to respect one another but to be very friendly. People came from many countries, yet no one dwelled on nationalities. We hardly ask, "Which country are you from?" We are all from this Earth. If we can teach humanity happiness, joy, respect, and brotherhood, there will be no problems in the world. Our Yoga in Daily Life community across the globe is humble, kind, and practices various yogic techniques and spiritualities. They are learning what spirituality truly means. Spirituality does not come only from Mahāprabhujī or Devapurījī, or from any single teacher. You all bring that divine atmosphere. We must carry forward this knowledge and spirituality. What do we understand by spirituality? It is purity, kindness, humbleness, ahiṃsā, and respect. It is to never speak negatively. It involves prayer, meditation, concentration, and inner techniques to purify our own body. Within this body, we have everything. Yesterday, I spoke of the five elements. All five are within us. Even space is within us; without it, we could not move or speak. This is prāṇa. The sky is within us; water is there. God has given every creature everything needed to live happily and peacefully. That is why it is called yoga. There is no competition, no challenge, no taking from here and there. Walk on your own path, the path of our tradition. That is very important. Do not think only our gurus are good. We should not claim that only we are the best. It is like one parent who says, "My child is beautiful and nice," and another says the same of their child. Other couples also praise each other's children. This is beautiful. Your house is beautiful, and that house is also beautiful. Everything is great. Why would we say no? We do not take children away from their parents; we help them. We adore them, respect them, and together we become one village. How do we make a village? First, there is one house—a priority—but the whole village of Strelky is a community where everyone has their own home. When asked, "Where are you from?" one says, "I am from Strelky in the Czech Republic." It is a beautiful country. The capital, Prague, means "meeting together." There is a beautiful river, lake, and a bridge to admire. Prague has great artists, like our Vasant and his wife Gaṅgā. Vasant means spring, when flowers blossom. Gaṅgā: there is one Gaṅgā in India, and a second here. Not only in Prague but in Strelky too. The whole Czech country is beautiful, and its people are very good. Perhaps we can visit tomorrow or next time. Next Guruvar, we could observe a fast and go there. The path is called Tilak. The cities and villages are good, and the people are good. They would like us to visit their shops—of course, avoiding eggs, meat, and alcohol. There is a beautiful castle and a church. "Church" means oneness. Our local priest is a great person, but we come and go quickly. People might wonder, but we contribute as guests. We serve, and they may ask for payment to support the city. That is also yoga, a union. If we only go one way, it is not good. We should greet people, ask, "Hello, how are you?" Next time, we should also shop in the village. Some sell fruits and nice organic vegetables. Buying from them would be great. That is yoga. What is yoga? Union. Oneness. All yoga people are the best. We have held programs where we invited the local priest, shared food, and everyone was happy. We must bring human to human; that is our spirituality. Next time, groups should go, see, and speak with people slowly. We will ask our friends here—the mayor, the priest, and other officers—to help us become one, step by step, visiting every shop. It is good; you will come to know the people. Otherwise, they might think, "My God, they will take over our whole village." People used to buy many houses when it was cheaper, but now Strelky is very expensive. We did not come to take the city; we came to bring something to the people. This applies not only in Strelky but everywhere. People want to say how good they are, and we want to know how good they are. So we must take the first step, to say goodbye or welcome. This is coming near; this is what we call yoga. It is a great thing. Next time, when circumstances improve, perhaps we can organize a football game. There is a nice ground, and people come for such events. Once a year, we could all go and watch. That is something. As you leave tomorrow for your yoga groups and centers, remember we are Yoga in Daily Life. It is appreciated in many countries. In Hungary, there is a beautiful friendship. Our dear Krishnanand is very famous there, from the President and Prime Minister to universities and farmers. Not only him, but all his friends have built a great fellowship. There are many yoga centers in Hungary, as in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Croatia, Slovenia, and elsewhere. We shall bring more friendliness. We should always do something. In Croatia, there is Rijeka. I did not know what "Rijeka" means; I thought it meant anger, but it means "river." It is the truth, expanding. Every year, water comes, making it wider, breaking and flowing, bringing different waters to the Adriatic coast. Rivers gather many waters and lead them to the sea, the Jadran, the Adriatic. In Rijeka, the yoga teachers and practitioners are expanding more and more. Many people come. They have a beautiful house, a big hall—one of the biggest in Rijeka. People from the government and other countries, including Czechoslovakia, visit in summer. It is a beautiful place with very good food. When I go, I like to eat so much that I don't go too often! They are great. In Croatia's capital, our Mahāmaṇḍaleśwar Vivekānanda Vivekpuri has greatly expanded yoga. There is a beautiful ashram where embassy people and ministers come. It is a very good city. In Slovakia's capital, there is also a beautiful ashram with many people. This is called being humble, kind, and respectful. We are not like those who go for a while, make some money, and then run away. It should be constant. Many have started beautiful yoga programs and centers, but how long will they last? They may fade. We have our heart, and we try heart to heart with all countries. We respect your cultures, and they respect ours. That is yoga. It is not only exercise or bodybuilding. You can play hockey, but for how long? Yoga is from ages and ages. I can see in your eyes this time—since I cannot see your mouth, I see your eyes. Eyes are like a man; the mouth is the woman, saying "yes," smiling. Now everything is blocked. How are you? We only look; we don't know yes or no. Where there is no yogic knowledge or feeling, suddenly the whole world was blocked at the mouth. Now you don't know who is who, or if someone is smiling. One day I was angry, and people wondered what Swamījī was saying. Because everything is in this, it is now becoming for the man, and it will come for the women. I have not heard today; it was yesterday, always with me. But it was said again: we are one. Hari Om. Hari Om. This is our respect. Today's talk is for all of you, as you leave tomorrow. What will you tell your people? They will say, "Swamījī gave a message." Āsanas, prāṇāyāma—everyone practiced those. But what I spoke today is from my heart, heart to heart. That is what we can call yoga in our daily life. We will think over our logo and decide what it means. Every year we create something. I hope you were happy here, with good food and good practice. That is great. With this, I wish you all the best. As yoga teachers, please give humbleness, kindness, peace, harmony, and teach in a nice way. We should also ask, "Do you have any problems?" Everyone says yogīs are healthy, that yoga is a kind of spiritual doctor. There is also Āyurveda. People think yogīs have everything. We say yes: we have everything—one in all, and all in one. This is the slogan of our Holy Gurujī: "One in all, and all in one." We will keep that as our slogan. Good? Okay. Hari Om. Tomorrow the program is until 12? Yes, until 12, and after, there will be lunch for all. Very good. We will all have lunch together here in our yard. It may be again... Mahāprabhujī, Devapurījī, Holy Gurujī—I am always asking you for something. Remember yesterday I prayed to Mahāprabhujī? Our Gurujī, please, let us have a satsaṅg. Last year they took away the clouds. So many things: when I pray, they give us peace, and then rain comes. So tomorrow we will ask Mahāprabhujī, "We will eat your prasād on the meadow, but how if it rains? Please, let us eat all on the meadow and eat your prasād." Thank you, Mahāprabhujī. Now, this is our Kākabhatī. Yesterday we went to number 30. Now it is number 31. Does anyone know a name starting with "L"? Yes, many. Lana is a good name. We begin with this. Last time I was talking about this: Mamma Madhavānanda kā kehnā, guru gyān meṁ nita hī rehnā, yāya yād karo Raghurāī, an dāna Lakṣmī mile jag māī, rārā Rām apne ghaṭ khojo, janam maraṇ ko meṭo bojo. We did this. Also: Lallā lagan vinā nahīṁ pāvo bāto meṁ kyun samay gamāo? And: Bhava, viṣaya, vāsanā, meto jab hove, Prabhu se bhyo to. Now it is coming: Śaśa, śakti vinā mat khonā, sacca bhakti vinā mat khonā. Bhakti vinā sab thāṭ alūnā, śakti vinā... It is said that śakti means power. First, knowledge is in your body, and in our body we should keep that prāṇa, that śakti. Do not get rid of it unnecessarily. Śakti vṛthā mat khonā. Do not lose energy for no reason—for example, through drugs or alcohol. We lose energy from our body. There are many kinds of śakti. If you lose all your energy, you will not enjoy life as you do now, sitting healthy. Otherwise, you are losing everything. Śaśa śakti vṛthā matkhonā śakti binā sab dhāt alūnā. "Dhāt alūnā" is like food with no salt inside. Everyone asks for a little salt. Without salt, there is no taste; without sweet, no taste. This is the energy within ourselves. Śaṭha śakti vṛthā māt khoṇā bhakti binā sab tathā alūṇā. Śaṭha śata darśana kī māyā, iskā pār koī nahīṁ pāyā. Śata darśana refers to the six Indian philosophies. If you know all this, you still do not know. It is māyā—not illusion, but here māyā means not that kind of money. The real property is knowledge. Therefore, sat-darśan kī māyā—all this is the māyā of knowledge, not of money, treasures, land, or property. It is beautiful literature. Sata Sardarśan kī mājā, iskā pār koī nahī̃ pājā. This Sāta Sardarśan is that. You can read and read and never reach the end. For knowledge, there is no end. What is Lakṣmī? No, not Lakṣmī—Sarasvatī. Sarasvatī is the goddess of knowledge, yet she holds a book, because knowledge comes and comes and comes. Like the Bhagavad Gītā: you can read and read, and knowledge will always come. That is it. Chat darśan kī māyā iskā par koī nahīṁ pāyā. No one has achieved the end. If you want to sit somewhere, be with the sādhus. Not with those who are gushing up, fighting, or having negative thoughts, but with sadhus. Sādhu saṅgata kījē, jāna amṛta satsaṅgamē pījē. Because in this sādhu there is knowledge and the nectar of knowledge. Knowledge and amṛta we can only get in satsaṅg. This is the satsaṅg where we are. Satsaṅg may pijey. So, dhyān amṛta satsaṅg may pijey. This knowledge and amṛta—amṛta is nectar—we can only drink in satsaṅg. Anywhere, in any temple or religion where you go, there is nectar. People meet dualities, but the real ones, who are in their own religions, are humble and kind. Those who are truly faithful are humble. That is it. So, sacca sādhu, saṅgat kī je, jāna amṛta satsaṅg me, pī je. Drink the nectar, not alcohol. Ha ha, hi ho, har mat jana, esa shame fir hat ne ana. So, who was with this sādhu? Sādhu,... sā? Okay, sorry. Harsha. H, Harsha. So, hh, hh,... hh. Knowledge, your kindness, your humbleness—you will never talk or think negatively about anybody. Then you are that. That is called her. Is anybody here her? So there are many. If you are a Harsha, Harsha Devī, Harsha... then do not become lost. Do not be lost. Like a hero in battle: he will not run away left and right. All the time. Women do not go fighting; only men. And men do not go with cloth; they are open-chested, saying, "Come to me." Now all are... they are very, how do you call them? They are gay. People fight from 50,000 kilometers away, pressing a button here. That is not a hero. A hero means eye to eye. Yogīs call them like Arjuna. So, anyhow. So, it is ha-ha-hyu-har-mat-jana. Therefore, do not become—these words—do not run away back. What is that called? Coward. Do not be a coward. That is it. Otherwise, you will not get any time like this in your heart. It should remain; you will lose it in your hand. When you lose your gun, you lose. That is it. Or give kindness, give love, give happiness, give a good day. That is it. So you have it in your hand; you give it to them. This is part of being human: if a human loses this, everything is lost. They will never criticize anyone; they will try to protect everyone. Then you are with her: Haṃsā Devī, Haryabhavī, Haṃsā Devī, Āryā Devī, Bhaṭṭis, Bhaṭṭis, Him, Bhaṭṭis, Hirapurī, all these. If you try to protect all of them, they will really become you. A human life will not come again. Kṣa, kṣaṇ, kṣaṇ, umar jāve, kṣa, kṣa,... kṣaṇ, kṣaṇ, umar jāve. O my dear, second by second, our life is going. Therefore, Rām Bhajan Bhin Fir Pistāve. Therefore, if you do not meditate on God Rāma, or Gurudev, or Jesus, or anyone, you will be firpistāvī, very sad. So we should pray, remember, and worship the name of God. What Gurujī is writing to the Rāma. Gurujī writes about Rāmāyaṇa here. Do you know the mountains in Slovakia? Many, many: Big Tatras, Little Tatras, High Tatras. Yes, so this is good. Do you know what the name Tatra means? Swamījī, what are you asking, Swamījī? We have mountains and mountains of the Trā. You are great, Slovak; you are very good. Oh my God, it is it. Trás, trás, trás means torturing. Trás znamená mučiť. When someone wants to torture somebody with a knife, they are killing animals, burning animals' lives. When we get a little thorn, we say, "What is that?" So, "Oh God, please save me." Who comes and takes the body takes your life. So there is Yama or Dharmarāja. This represents the one who comes and takes your body. Whether it is Dharmarāja or Yama, we do not know how they will torture. There are many things you can see. That is why God said heaven or hell, and hell is there, where we will be tortured. How long, we do not know. Because you give life, human life, and there we gave you this, which is the best thing. But if you forget and think, "I am good," at the end you will be somewhere else. In that case, only Gurudev can give us life again. It is said you have a hole somewhere; only a doctor can close it, or someone who makes our dress. Similarly, Tathātā-rāsa-hyākṣam-kī-bhārī, only Gurudeva will hold you. Then yama cannot come; it will come back again. And then Guru Kṛpā will come. You do not like Yajña? Gyāna guru binā nahī. Therefore, knowledge without a guru, no. Preto nie je poznanie bez gurua. The one who taught you to cycle is your guru. Ten, kdo vás naučil bicyklovat, je váš guru. Car driving is your guru. Kdo vás naučil šoférovat, je guru. A school teacher is your guru. Without a guru, you can do nothing. Electronic work: you learn from someone, then you can work with electronics; otherwise not. In the same way, for the soul part of humans, a guru is needed. So, jñāna guru binā nahī, jñāna binā mukti nahī. Without knowledge of the Gurudeva, you will not come to mukti, liberation. Jñāna mile Gurudeva ke dvāre. Therefore, we will get that knowledge at the door of the Gurudeva. And it is at the gate of the Gurudeva that we should get liberated. Aisa bhakt koī birlā hove. Like that, rare are the bhaktas. Takito su vśak bhaktove abzāznī. Apnā svarūp āpme jove. That is, they will see their liberation, their everything within, inside. Therefore, we should look inside our body, not outside. Aisa bhakt koī birlā hove. So there are rare bhaktas. You should look within thyself. So Holy Gurujī said this Kākabhatīsī. It is said, kakabatīsī ānandakārī. It is very ānanda, a blessing. And Holy Gurujī says this Kākabhatīsī will bring you ānanda. Then, Bhagavadī Gāve Nārnārī. The bhaktas can sing these bhajans. The bhaktas who can sing these bhajans, nara-nārī, both men and women, are singing. Shugraho samajkar gawe. So those who are in yoga are disciples. You have the Guru mantra. Shugraho samajkar gawe—those who have mantras of the Gurudev and are Guru disciples know this song and sing it. Those who are Nugra, on the other side, not the spiritual side, in their mind they do not feel to do anything. So those who chant this every day—our bhakti, our guru, the kapālabhāti sādhanā—he who will read this lesson every day, whether in the morning or at all times, will get peace and bliss in the body. Dostanete všetko. Mier a radosť do srdca. Shrī Swāmī Madhavānanda Kathā gāve. So, Holy Gurujī is singing and writing this. Sab santon ko śiṣ namāve. Sab santon ko śiṣ namāve. Holy Gurujī. Holy Gurujī. Bowing to all the saints. He bowed down in front of all the saints. Gurujī said, "I adore all yogīs." Is there something missing? So it was 45, and that was holy. Gurujī said, "This was the," and that is so, from 1 till 45. We went from 1 till 45, and this is already written in your languages—not your languages, but these letters. This is very difficult to read, but what to do? Jñānan, Swami Jñānanjī, he read me all this. For me, it is only like the letter of the birds. You should get the other one, and this is also okay. But I would say you should learn the other one. What is it? Okay? Yeah, this is Devanāgarī, but other English letters. This is it. Did you like it, Blanka?
