Discipline and respect are important

Guidance for a spiritual retreat focuses on discipline, health, and awareness. Eat moderately to avoid lethargy and support meditation. Maintain silence primarily, speaking only for essential needs. Respect your food and the process of eating. After meals, take a walk or rest briefly for balance. Be responsible for your own plate and utensils; clean and keep them to minimize waste and plastic harm. Respect all who perform service. Walk slowly and maintain distance as needed. Yet also be free to talk and connect with others. Practice laughter to open the heart and counteract depression. Engage fully with prāṇa and the certainty that energy and work will return.

"Try in these days to eat a little less."

"This time, I give you the freedom. Talk. Speak."

Śrī Dīp Nārāyaṇa Bhagavān Kī Jai. Devādhideva, Devīśvara Mahādeva Satguru Svāmī Madhavānandajī Bhagavān Kī Jai. Alakhpurījī Mahādeva Satya Sanātana Dharma Kī Jai. Good evening. Dobrī Vechar. All our dear sisters and brothers, all our bhaktas. This was a beautiful day. For those on this Anuṣṭhāna program, it is the first time. Many of our workers and friends are taking very good care of you. From the beginning, we can say the food nourishment is especially very good. When very good food is here, you may sleep more. So what can we do? It is good that the food is good, but you yourself shall say, "Now that is really enough." When we take more and more food, then comes laziness, sleeping, etc. So try in these days to eat a little less. Of course, take good water and practice at the right time. We know it is time for lunch, or dinner, or breakfast. It is said we shall keep the mauna. Try to understand and see how you will feel. Of course, if you need food, water, some support or help, that’s okay. You need food, you need to drink, you need some support, you need some help. That is all right. Otherwise, it is not good. One disturbs another, and another disturbs a second, a third, and a fourth. We do not want to tell you that you should not speak at all. No. Only when we need something, yes, why not? But you should know what you are eating and how you chew your food. How is your stomach telling you? This is the first part of our human happiness and health through the body. We know how many people are suffering because they eat too much and talk too much. But we do not want to be completely silent, not completely silent. Anādevtā, "an" means our food. We should respect that very much. We can take food twice, but do not take too much at once, or you cannot finish. It is said that before eating, just take one sip of water. And then, of course, we drink a little bit of water also. Between meals, we should not do anything. Then we have programs, sādhanās; of course we are not doing anything else. There is one thing, yes and no. That was one story, and I will not tell you that story now, but next time. I am between, on freedom, time, in our ashram program. I told you yesterday we should go to our villas and go and see some other shopping. There are some farmers, and they have some fruits; they are selling the fruits, maybe. They will be happy. See how this village is. The cemetery is also there, and come back. Then go for our tilak. I said, "Okay, you go have coffee and this and that." Without me, everybody is going, and I do not come. Tell them not to go. If I say, "No, do not go anywhere, we should practice only here," then our Tilak and the others will not be happy. So, we are between, or I am between. It is good, and you like it. Someone likes a nice coffee. Someone likes good chai, with the spices and this and that. But we should not put too much in this stomach. Because when you sit in meditation, practicing, then you will feel that you should not be dizzy, or dizzy means that you are sleeping. We have to be concentrated; otherwise, our nice programs, our techniques, and all of this will not be successful. Second, we have to become a little active. Not only sitting, meditation, and so on, but eating, sleeping, or sitting, this is also not good. So after you know that in eating, they said at least one kilometer, go and come. Or, after eating, about 20 minutes of yoga nidrā is very important. It is very important, and as one will be older, after eating we should have a little rest. So it will be a very good balancing for our health of body. It will be a very good balance for the health of our body. After that, you see, we have still to walk. So we can walk in the village. There is a nice church you can go to. There are other shopping centers, and we have two centers here. Three, now we have three shopping. So one is Tilak, one is the other one, what is that called? What is the name? No, it is Deep Vyāsas, DNP, DNM. Yes, this is Devpurījī, Mahāprabhujī, and Holy Gurujī. Mahāprabhudīp Karatā, Mahāprabhudīp Karatā He Kevalam, Mahāprabhudīp Karatā He Kevalam. In this very, very hard work, our Muktānām, from many countries, from China and from Nepal and like this, they are bringing quality, and then we have here. From time to time, here, this one is the yoga. Take a few deep breaths, but feel the earth. We have no chemicals here. Just feel, take the earth. This earth, touch it for a while. If you do not get, if you are not getting cold, then your feet, soles, and palms, then you will feel very good. But it can be, you will get very quickly flu. This is what we have to control, okay? And then we take hot water, make there a little hot water on the earth, and we feel there. That is it, but we should not get ill. So this is what we are doing. This is also a training and practice, and seminars are on this also. Now, it is said many times, but now it is very important. You have now a pot from which you are eating. So, you write your name and tell that, "I will have this plate. I will clean it myself, and I will give it back." Then I will say that I gave it back to you. Now, you know, we have big problems in the world. So this is very, very important. That which we are touching, where we are eating, from what glass we are drinking. So this is very important. And you know, in Kumbha Melā, there are many, many different people there, many sādhus. They only wash themselves, and they bring back. Or we have the leaves, the tree leaves, and that is very nice. When you eat with that, it is so tasteful. Prāṇas. And then we put all these leaves; they are the dry leaves. And it is very good, again, for the fertilizer. So this is very good, very, very good. And that, before, what they call, "use and throw." So that was for the leaves. That we were used, even some animals were eating. And other creatures are eating from our food. And everything becomes nice, a little leisure. But what we learned is this, but not the quality. Use and throw. So where to throw? Use and throw. We got it, and we are using it. But now, where do I throw? That is a question. So, if there is, let us say, paper, but if there is plastic inside, then there are big problems. Here in our Europe, we see that mostly people do not throw so many plastics away. They put it in some container, but I should tell the truth. That in India, they take the plastic bag. And they bring all the garbage from the food and throw it outside, and then animals and cows, because it smells and everything, they are eating, and sometimes they are killing from the stomach of the cows about 10 to 20 kilos of plastic. And many of them died, so one way they said, "Holy cow!" And the other side is not these cows. So that still they could not understand. So maybe some years will come, so let us say we are not talking about them, but for us, what we are doing, and now in this situation, we gave yesterday some kind of, everybody, what to do. That you wash your hands and do not make netī and dhautī. So, these things we should not do. And you are all very good, respectful, and you are doing well. But it is only the first day. Slowly, slowly, do not go to the other side again. So, this is also a technique, or for our seminar, we are learning about ourselves again. And we are very good. I have nothing to say. But now, your plates and glass, and you should have a nice bag. So after cleaning, and with a cloth, dry that and put it in your bag. That is very, very important for us. So, this is the second. Now, the third. Please respect all our friends here who are doing the seva. For example, Vasant. He is doing Seva. He is not asking for the money or something. So first he wants good things for you, and then for himself also good. Now, yesterday I told you all, it was very nice. Listen, sitting, we should keep the distance. And as soon as I went out, everyone was running outside. So I would walk very slowly. My walk is like this, you know, this, no, no, snail or this big, okay, anyhow. Not elephant. There is one little animal with a big, nice back, a crock, and a curtle. Yes, girl. So like this, we should walk all. Until this disease goes away, it will be nice to see. So, now, what is that? Everything, we have so much restriction. Now, what should we do? We do the best thing. What you do, you are doing good things, and be happy. Relax. Speak. Do not go back. The turtle will go in. That is not good. So, I would like to know that in this one week, or two weeks, or three weeks, we should do more. This time, I give you the freedom. Talk. Speak. How are you? That is you. Otherwise, there is one man who brands a yoga. He is a brand of yoga. It is about 25 years ago in San Francisco. There was one yoga program. So many, many different yoga schools came there. And they were giving lectures and this and that. So one man, Indian, about the age of 25 or something, came to me and said, "Oh, Swāmījī, you are the only Gurujī here now," and so on. And I will tell you something. There is something which I like very much, and he said. But now he made it as a yoga, like yoga in daily life, so he has his other yoga. And I know that definitely many of you know that. That is called laughing yoga. Who knows? Hands up. Good. And who does not know, hand up? There are very great people there. Nobody raise your hand up, neither for nor against them. I told you, you should open your heart. Why do I want to tell this? Why do I want to tell this? Even in the airplanes, he makes this yoga. First, they will say, "What a stupid man." But after three times, everybody will be happy. That is something, and it is very good, simple. In the house, on the farm, in the park, wherever. And that is, what is that? Can, yeah, so how is that? No, no... no. I know you are all negative. You are not positive. Therefore, take it off for a while. If you are negative, put it out. And you should look up, and then you will laugh. Now, you do all. Come. Yes, everything comes out of the... This was the one. The second? Again. And come down: Brahmā, Viṣṇu, and Śiva. This is the three. So once more. Look, your lungs come out, your heart. Your navel, really. He is still living, and he comes sometimes in very big conferences. And when nobody calls him, he is sitting there, and suddenly he said, "Oh, this is yoga!" So once more, and please feel this part of your body. So again, come on. But you have to, what we call, laugh from the stomach. So, how do you feel the laughing? There is a laughing inside. But what is that? How to get there? So it will come automatically; it will go from the navel. Again, once more. Thank you. Namo Nārāyaṇam, Namo Śivāyom, Namah Śivāyom. My dear, the whole world is depressed; they are pushed down. No one told you that you should be very silent and like this. Only, do not go to different places because of this corona. So these kinds of infections... but why are we depressed? Of course, many people are now, and also people lost their jobs. And when the job is gone, then what is gone? Penisa. What penisa? Penisa. So, but penisa will come back, and we have prāṇa, we have energy, we will work again, and I know that your governments are supporting you. You know that even all the yoga centers are also getting money from the government. Because many people were there, and now they are not there. But the centers are very big: electricity, this, that, many things. So the government supports that, but still we have to work again. But we should not be suppressed. Always say, "Hey, how are you?" So that is it. Now we have to open our lungs. What is it? When you speak well, then the lungs have to open. So which bhajan will we sing? Sartāgāru Swāmījī, "Āj To Yatey Prasād."
