Yoga in Daily Life around the world

The pure path of Yoga in Daily Life expands consciousness through bhakti and selfless service.

Yoga in Daily Life is practiced worldwide. In China, practitioners adopt it without guidance, producing unauthorized books. Yet they practice and pray. Swamiji television serves without profit. During the pandemic, many helped through the appeal. Yoga in Daily Life offers physical techniques and spiritual teachings, meditation, and bhakti from the guru lineage. Attempts to bring yoga from India to Europe failed. Ramdev spread yoga across India but not into Europe. True Tantra is not sexual. Expand consciousness into the Cosmic Self. Open your heart and knowledge, do not be narrow-minded. Distance from the guru increases devotion, not attachment. Disciples come and go, but the true devotee remains with the Lord. Darkness cannot approach the light. Send teaching details to the ashram to unify the practice.

“Tan means expand, and Tra means liberate.”

“Darkness cannot come near the light.”

Śabdhas Prabhusaraṇa Parāyaṇam. Oṁ Namo Śrī Prabhudī Parāyaṇam. Oṁ Namo Śrī Prabhudī Śrī Dīp Nārāyaṇa Bhagavānakī. Good morning. Dobré ráno. All our dear sisters, brothers, and of course all our children. And it is a blessing of Mahāprabhujī. You are fortunate that we have good sunlight. We thought the whole week would be rainy, but we were lucky. Now, there are our practices of yoga and daily life techniques. Many people around the world, in many, many countries, follow them. There are many Yoga in Daily Life practitioners and teachers. Our dear Sādhvī Dayā Māta from Canada, Vancouver, is actually from China. So naturally she speaks Chinese, and she often visits China. In different cities she has many of our yoga practitioners in their daily lives. There are many yoga schools there. And Matajī said they like our yoga techniques very much. They have also adopted other scriptures, and many have embraced this path. But one thing is that in China, no matter which copyright you have, they don’t respect it. For example, suppose you have a copyrighted design: a beautiful dress in a nice color. Then they simply put an orange sheet on it, or add just a thin orange line to your dress. And someone told me, “Our yoga in daily life is this one, not that yoga name.” And who asked them? Nobody. If someone objects, they don’t care. So many people started Yoga in Daily Life without proper guidance. They have written books in the Chinese language. Dayā Mata said, “It’s okay. The good thing is that you are practicing Yoga in Daily Life. And you are offering prayers to Mahāprabhujī, etc.” So also in many cities in other countries, there are many yogis in daily life. In small countries like Singapore, in Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, and many others. But now I am speaking because, through this, our Swāmījī television is free. We are not asking for money. We don’t make any profits. And that is why it is one of the few televisions that is free around the whole world. For those who are listening around the world, we once talked about the problems with this disease. In many, many countries the people—those who have no money, the poor—of course the whole world was helping them. And at that time, we also asked through this Swamiji television on Yoga in Daily Life. And truly, many, many people helped within one, two, three days, and of course we passed it on further. We also have Mexicos. In that part of the world—what we call America—America is not only what we call the United States, but the whole continent. For example, we are here in Europe; though there is a European Union, the name Europe refers to the entire landmass. So this America, what we call the United States, is like a union. But the whole continents are called America. Thus there is our Yoga in Daily Life in many, many countries there. And there are also many in Africa. So it is you, our European bhaktas, you have very good Yoga in Daily Life teachers. You have very good yoga teachers in your lives, and many, many people like it. This kind of yoga is not only for the physical body, but that which comes through such masters—our guru paramparās—and that is what everyone appreciates. I was searching like that. Of course, there are many, many masters. They also have spiritual lineages. But the thing is this: we have a system. Some people say, “No, it’s always the same—you go somewhere, and this is very good, and that is very good.” But afterwards they come back again. And that is why our Yoga in Daily Life practitioners possess many kinds of techniques, knowledge, and blessings—things that are very, very powerful. That is why people who stay with Yoga in Daily Life acquire techniques that are very strong. There is knowledge, there is blessing, and this is very important. Now, in recent years, some people from India have tried to bring yoga to the whole world, for two, three, four years. But they are not that kind of yogi, and they couldn’t deliver the best from India to Europe. Around the world there are many different yoga schools. They are very good throughout the whole country, and many are very advanced spiritually as well. So when these people tried to bring yoga to Europe, they lost; they missed it. They go to practice yoga when, for example, our Prime Minister—he is a great person—visits, and thousands come. But the next day they do nothing. They only want to have photos with Modiji. Yet I must say that there is Ramdev, and he really made yoga spread throughout all of India. Ramdev has indeed expanded yoga across India. But he has no way to bring it into Europe. Of course, he also has many things to say about nourishment—what we call organic. He gives a lot of very good, various kinds of nourishment, and he is also bringing Ayurvedic medicine. Some people don’t like this, but he says, “Why not? When you are not good, that is good.” Ramdev said, “Please, spread negative news about me; it will only bring more people.” He said, “Good, good, spread negative publicity, at least more people will come to us—come and see.” Any kind of criticism—he says all is medicine, go and see for yourself whether it is good or bad. So jealousy is always there, but I guess he has spread yoga immensely. Wherever he goes, in one city or anywhere, thousands of people will come. And there are a few more who are doing really well. Others are more commercial, but for us, with authentic gurus and sādhanās like Haṭha Yoga or Yoga in Daily Life, there are always steady practitioners. We have Haṭha Yoga, we have techniques, we have āsanas. But what is happening now? Our own yoga teachers are very spread out on different paths, but many are not teaching the spiritual path. For example, in China, they ask me, “Swāmījī, please come, come.” I said, “I will see, I will see.” There is a problem, sorry to say: eating. There are no vegetables, very rarely, and I have no time. Similarly, your neighboring country has often asked me to come, but I don’t have time—I couldn’t come there. Not in India, but in Russia. Many, many ask, “Please come.” But somehow our people here did not let me go, because then he would be playing in Russia. But they are good people, very good. So I think we shall now go to Russia. And you know, they are coming to us, asking, “Please come to them.” Okay, let’s come back to the real point. So all of us here, and all who are listening, all our Yoga in Daily Life practitioners, we shall all try to once again bring together our real Yoga in Daily Life practice, including the spiritual teachings, meditations, and bhakti. People forget about these spiritual teachings, or they did not receive this knowledge. So in other countries our people are not practicing them. A few years ago I saw this in one of our schools in Australia. They had printed many, many books. Sometimes people’s search is different. We had this nice book, Hidden Powers in Humans: Chakras. But they said, “No, we want something called Tantra.” And these are hidden powers, these are our chakras, and this is Tantra. Yet they are searching only for a distorted, naked Tantra. In real Tantra, there is none of what people are now fabricating in books; it is not the truth. If you explore the teachings of many other ṛṣis, or the Buddha’s direction, and also the Jainas, Tantra is just one part—like Kriyā Yoga, Bhakti Yoga, Jñāna Yoga. But people print false books. Actually, it is not necessary to make such a book. In your own husband, wife, in your room, in your own house, you are already naked; so why are you running? Many people create such things. This is not real Tantra. There was a lecture, and a very spiritual yogi or sādhu, a Swāmījī, was asked about Tantras. “What is that Tantra? Do you know the Tantra?” He said, “Yes, I am a Tāntrika. I reached a very high consciousness through Tantra.” Everybody said, “And how is that?” He said, “Yes, that is the greatest. But tomorrow I will tell you. Any more questions? Please, only Tantra.” This was in Ukraine, and the Master is someone—I don’t want to mention any name—a very pure, good one. So what is the destination of Tantra? He explained: “Tan means expand, and Tra means liberate.” So expand your consciousness and knowledge, and come into the Cosmic Self. This is the definition of Tantra: Tan and Tra. Expand, expand, expand—rozpínať, rozpínať—as far as you can into space. This is expansion. It means do not be narrow-minded. Do not think, “I am the best, this is not the best, I only want this or that.” That is narrow-mindedness. Open your heart, open your eyes, open your consciousness, and fill your whole being with goodness, peace, harmony, and understanding. That is Tantra. The other is not Tantra. If you talk only about sex, then you can look at any animals—they are also fighting. When one lion and a second lion come together, see how they fight. And monkeys? The male monkey will kill the baby immediately after it is born. Sometimes a monkey mother, when she has a baby, she hides herself with her child somewhere until the baby becomes strong, and then she returns with her child. That young male will then fight with another monkey, bite him, and kill him, so the defeated one runs away. You sometimes see a lone male monkey who doesn’t know where to go; he cannot rejoin the group of young monkeys. That is also fighting, this and that—everything. But we don’t want that. We have wife and goodness. Hari Om. But extend your heart, your knowledge, everything, and that is Guru Kṛpā He Kevalam. So many books have been written—thousands and thousands of pages—but there is nothing like the pure path you find in European bookstores now. Therefore, we shall go to the pure path, and that pure path is what we have as Yoga in Daily Life. We had a very nice path of Swami Sivananda in Rishikesh. He had many good disciples. But, of course, some went out of the country. Sivanandajī said, “Don’t go.” He sent only one disciple. Then there was a second disciple, very close to me, Nāda Yoga. And so Nādhanandjī had a beautiful Nāda sound. He would place a coin on his head and produce a sound, “Mmmmmm” — I don’t know exactly how — and throughout, the coin would move like this. He would start to sing a certain sound, and the coin would shake on his head. He was very good, a very good singer, and everything was very good. So there are many, and you can reflect on this: a tree produces thousands upon thousands of blossoms—maybe millions. Many leaves and flowers fall. Then some fruits come, but of all those thousands, only about fifteen percent become fruits; all the rest fall away. In the same way, all your disciples, and it will be only that percentage. But again, they will turn back to the right path, because they know that their original Gurudeva is the right one. Now, there are many, many yogis—no doubt. There are no doubts, and they are in the whole world now. They were, they are, and they will be. And so, our Yoga in Daily Life is great. I was away for about seven months. And you know how all our bhaktas, disciples, and our yoga teachers were waiting for when I would come. I was also eagerly waiting. But you know, when we have devotion—we can call it devotion or love—this grows as far as you go, with feelings. When you feel someone who is at a distance, then you gain more knowledge. We remember our Gurudev. Even thousands of kilometers apart, more pure feelings and prayers arise. Because that is not attachment, but freedom. So, the further we go, that much more we have devotion, forever and ever. You know that Swami whose kriyā, Yogānanda, and Yogānandajī’s paramparā is very great, went to the West. His Gurujī said, “OK, you can go.” Some people have jealousy, and we have that also. And for you who have jealousy, you will not be successful. So Swamijī went to America—Yogānanda went to America—and he was very good at speaking and teaching. Sometimes he would wear trousers and a jacket, and no hair, like from the barber; sometimes he had to cut his hair. People started to think badly about it. So someone told his guru, “Swami, things are not good. Please don’t speak about him,” or “bring him back.” So his Gurujī sent a letter. And always his letters, this Master—what? Yukteśvar. Yukteśvarjī was writing a letter. He always wrote one word, something in my heart. You know that? He said something: “I cannot understand what you are talking about. It would be better if you did not talk.” You know that? Yes, that is one word, “heart,” I said. So it’s something, one word he said, because that letter is there, I have it. Anyhow, he wrote that letter. And then said, “This and this have taught this.” Not very much, but a few words. So maybe he wrote, “You should come back.” Well, he used to come many times to Gurujī. He was also with Gandhījī, eating beside him. Anyhow, he wrote a letter to his Gurujī with a bhajan or a poem. And how is that? You know what bhajan is? It is said that the disciples will come and the disciples will go, but my Lord, I will be Thine. So all come to my āśram, and they will go. They will come and they will go, but my Lord, I will be Thine. When I go far, far beyond the stars, I will be Thine, O my Lord. Even I will die; look into my eyes, and then, even I will die, look into my eyes, that I will be Thine. So that is that love, distance, that love, that bhakti—not attachment, but oneness, that you know thy heart. Let people say what they are saying. They will die; they will kill themselves. But I will be there, even dying. So our Yoga in Daily Life people are very, very many, very humble and devoted. And you know that in our countries, wherever I am, maybe they are few, but their heart is pure. And here, you are doing work not for me, but for thyself, for your heart. Sometimes there are cruel people who speak both good and bad. So we will take the bad and give them good. So I give them good, and they give me bad. That’s fine. Why? Because there is light in Mahāprabhujī. So we are all light, and there are others who are darkness. But darkness cannot come near the light. So you should write or say, “Yes, my dear, darkness can never come to the light.” And so we were all that kind of darkness, but now we are in Mahāprabhujī’s light. And that Holy Gurujī said, told him, Prabhu Kiyām. So it is said, Mahāprabhujī himself also made that bhajan. Even Mahāprabhujī said, “What can I give?” And that is when some bhaktas were somewhere and did not come. So what did Holī Gurujī say? This bhajan—you know what that bhajan is? Yes. So sing this bhajan. Who said it? Mahāprabhujī said. That when my bhaktas are not here, I have tears in my eyes. Mahāprabhujī said, “And when Gurudev doesn’t come, also we are more than only the tears…” Sat Saṅkhyā Yolu Āve, Āve Samena Parajā Āve Śrī Dīp Nārāyaṇ Bhagavān Kī Jaya. So sometimes we say that in every household, in our offices, every day we are cleaning the dust. Similarly, as so many of us are practicing, how many Yoga in Daily Life practitioners are there around the world? And you know that Bārikatu Praṇām—and we will, how do you say, we will clear time again. So, all my dear ones, those who are in different parts of the world listening, or it will be heard in other countries where it is still night, we will give you 24 hours—two days or more—to send that your body, Khatu Praṇām. Please send it to our office here in Strilky, in the Czech Republic, and we will make corrections, which you are doing and which some others are doing, okay? So, who knows about how or where to send it? It should be in the ashram, in the Strilky office. And please tell the number or email address through this now… Who knows? Okay, she knows. So, it’s a seminar at yoga.cz, Vidyā. Vidya, come. So, Vidya, you can tell, okay? Very clear, okay? Not quickly, quickly. You can send the videos or Swamiji’s request via email: seminaryoga.cz. Yoga with Y will be announced. Thank you. All the best, my dear ones. And please send everything—exactly how you are teaching, number this and that. And then we will bring it together, and then we will send it back to you. Barikhatu is a place of our Bhagavān Śrī Dīp Nārāyaṇ Mahāprabhujī. There is a mountain and a beautiful place. It is near Mahāprabhujī’s incarnation, and he lived more in the village Khatu, with that beautiful banyan tree. And also, one place somewhere outside the forest, the village, the city. And there is one place outside the village where he mostly lived with Mahāprabhujī and Holī Gurujī. All the best, bless you on Mahāprabhujī’s name. Alakh Purījī Mahādev Kī Jai, Devādidev Deveśvar Mahādev Kī Jai, Ārādhy Bhagavān Śrī Dīp Nārāyaṇ Mahāprabhujī Kī Jai, Hindu Dharma Saṁvrat Sadguru Svāmī Madhavānandajī Bhagavān Kī Jai. Oṁ Śānti.
