Prayer for peace

An evening address on silent prayer and global healing during a pandemic.

"Today's prayer was that mauna praṭhanā... inwardly, with folded hands, we were praying, connecting with our inner sound."

"We are not thinking only of one religion's prayer. All religions should join together, and we should all pray to God that all humans, all animals, and this whole globe remain in a very clear, peaceful atmosphere."

Swami Maheshwarananda welcomes attendees and describes a recent silent prayer (Mauna Yoga) session held in response to the global pandemic. He emphasizes prayers for all beings, encourages responsible practices like mask-wearing, and discusses how the Yoga in Daily Life organization is sustaining its service and community support through online sessions and charity. The talk concludes with a spiritual chant.

Dear all, beloved sisters, brothers, devotees, and all my dear ones, welcome. It is very nice to see you on this beautiful evening. Vítajte, veľmi rád vás vidím tento krásny večer. We had a prayer today. Mali sme modlitbu. Today's prayer was with Mauna. A dnešná modlitba bola s Maunou. Mauna means silence. We know there are many kinds of speech or song: singing with the mouth, moving the lips, and inner singing. There is singing where we hear our own voice, singing where we just move our lips, and then there is mental singing. Today's prayer was that mauna praṭhanā. Here in this country, the Czech Republic, the government has said that in temples, āśrams, and churches, people may sing. However, in places like hospitals, there should be no loud talking and no singing. This is a beautiful directive, and it aligns with our prayers to our Satguru, Bhagavān Dīp Nārāyaṇa Mahāprabhujī, Devpurījī, Mahāprabhujī, Holy Gurujī. Inwardly, with folded hands, we were praying, connecting with our inner sound. This is what we have done. This is called Mauna Yoga. When we practice meditation, we tell everyone, "Please be silent, no talking." But inside, we are speaking to our heart. In meditation, we visualize. All around the world, this Corona situation has happened. Many people are suffering, have suffered, and many have passed away from this life. Our governments here are doing very well so that our country will be fine and clean again. This is our prayer—the prayer we did today and do all the time for the whole world, for all mankind, and for all animals. A toto je naša modlitba, je to modlitba pre celý svet, pre celé ľudstvo, pre všetky zvieratá. We are not thinking only of one religion's prayer. All religions should join together, and we should all pray to God that all humans, all animals, and this whole globe remain in a very clear, peaceful atmosphere. This is the time for our entire brotherhood to be present. It is time to realize we are all one. It is the time to bring peace and harmony back to this globe, a beautiful time where all humans can dance, learn, wish, pray, and remain peaceful throughout the world. Therefore, we try our best to always wear a mask wherever we go. When you talk somewhere, do not speak too loud. If we speak, we must speak through the mask so that when we speak out, we are also protected from what we might take in. This purifies the interaction, prevents us from taking in anything negative, and helps ensure there is no disease. Around the whole world, the people of Yoga in Daily Life—in many schools, colleges, our practitioners and all others—should pray every day for mankind. It is said other creatures are not affected, though some say certain animals like cats or tigers might have something. So we pray for all. When we meditate, pray, concentrate, and think good thoughts for our mother, father, children, neighbors, our whole city, country, and the globe, we are praying for peace for them. Please pray as much as you can. Today we are praying for this very much, here in this country. I thank you very much that I am here in the Czech Republic. The people here are very pure and good, and I pray they remain healthy and happy. If possible, go towards the park. You can go out a little, go nearer to nature. If there is flowing river water, it is good, but it depends on where you have more space. It is very important to receive all this positive energy. Have no negative thinking towards people. Let all be our brotherhood: our mother, father, children, neighbors—all. Yoga is for that: for harmony, peace, and understanding. One should not think negatively of a person. Yoga is for peace, harmony, and understanding for all. You do all for them. You know that in Yoga in Daily Life, our people are not only for money; they are for the harmony of the world, for peace. Many are doing only service. We support them for their living, of course. So Yoga in Daily Life is very important for harmony, peace, understanding, and so on. We do not tell people, "Go away, we don't want you." Not like this. We always say, "Please come, I will come to you. Come close, come near." We are all helping very much. If a person has problems, we help as much as we can. All around the world, Yoga in Daily Life practitioners are now practicing through online voice sessions from their houses. At the beginning, when everything was blocked—yoga centers, prayers, churches—it was said to stop, and people were very sad. But when we said "light and land time"... what did you say? Online. Online. And how many people were so happy! In all of Yoga in Daily Life, they were very, very happy. Of course, in many of our centers, there was nobody because the government said, "Nobody come there." In some countries, the government gave money to support those centers because the centers work for the people. When people were gone, we were sitting with nothing. But many learning online were really sending money through banks to the center, so it is sustained. It is said the little ant and the elephant both get a complete stomach full every day by God's grace. A tiny ant needs to eat, drink, and have enough sleep—though ants don't sleep; they work night and day. An elephant, you know how much it needs! But the elephant also gets its stomach full. So it is said: the ant and the elephant, all fill their stomach by God's grace. Who are we to think we are feeding someone? We cannot feed anyone; it is God who is feeding. Similarly, in every country, many countries, people ask for support for yoga centers, and they are given something according to capacity. Like our Yoga in Daily Life around the world, they were giving something to poor people who could not have food when the Corona waves suddenly came. You know that our Yoga in Daily Life people around the whole world, they help the people where they are. Na to mieste, kde sa nachádzajú, robia dobro pre spoločnosť a pre ľudí, pri ktorý tam žijú. It will come back to us. God will give back to us. Therefore, do not be afraid. Do not be angry, and do not be in a situation where you think, "Now we don't know what to do." We will pray our Pratnā, which we do morning and evening for the whole of mankind. Thank you very much, my dears. With the silence from your heart, give that energy to the whole world. With this, I conclude my talking today, and we will have other programs. Mentally, you will chant, and I am in this box. This is a box, this glass, so I cannot hear a voice through there or here. I am blocked there. Oxygen is coming from the other side. My voice is going through this instrument, through these cables, but not the air from my mouth. So what I talk cannot go out. Therefore, I am blocked in this so I can do something for all mankind, something good for them. In India, also in many hospitals, schools, and places, the government gives a little bit of money, like to teachers. In many countries, it is similar. I am here blocked, so do not worry; not even a mosquito is here. So, you may see, my dear ones, my voice can go out, but it is only in the wires. And mentally, you should sing together. Oṁ Namaḥ Śrī Prabhu Dīpa Nārāyaṇam. Ham Sab Dās Prabhu Śaraṇ Parāyaṇam. Oṁ Namaḥ Śrī Prabhu Dīpa Nārāyaṇam. Dīpa Nārāyaṇa Bhagavān Kī, Deva Dī Deva, Deveśvara Mahādeva Kī, Satguru Svāmī Madhvanānjī Bhagavān Kī, Satya Sanātana Dharma Kī. Alak Purījī Mahādeva kī oṁ śānti śānti...
