The Universal Path of Yoga

Yoga is the universal science of body, mind, consciousness, and soul, standing above all religions. It is the ancient principle of balance and harmony in the universe, uniting individual consciousness with cosmic consciousness. This science was given for the well-being of all creatures. The human life is a rare opportunity to attain higher consciousness and escape the cycle of birth and death. All beings carry the divine light; non-duality is reality, and duality is unreality. The goal is a healthy, happy, long life achieved through yogic principles like love, kindness, and truthfulness. These universal ethics form the core of all religions. Yoga is a practical, accessible path to health, stress relief, and inner peace, fostering good individuals and societal harmony. It is a way to unite humanity beyond names and forms.

"Yoga means union. It is a uniting principle: the union of the individual consciousness with the cosmic consciousness."

"The biggest religion, the greatest religion for us, is humanity."

Asato mā sad gamaya. Lead us from unreality to reality. Tamaso mā jyotir gamaya. Lead us from darkness to light. Mṛtyor mā amṛtaṁ gamaya. Lead us from death to immortality. May all be healthy. Sarveśāṁ śāntir bhavatu. Peace should be everywhere. Sarveṣāṁ maṅgalam bhavatu. Happiness and harmony should be everywhere. Sarveṣāṁ pūraṇam bhavatu. May we all achieve completeness. The whole world should be happy. I am not the doer. God is the doer. Lord Mahāprabhujī is only the doer. Mahāprabhujī is the only one who works. Oṁ Śāntiḥ Śāntiḥ Śāntiḥ. Peace, peace, peace. Send peace into the cosmic light. Lord of our hearts, omniscient and omnipresent, in His divine presence, good evening, dear brothers and sisters. All the organizers of this Yoga in Daily Life, the vice mayor of this city, Mr. Zoran, the President of Yoga in Daily Life, Marijana, and our dear yogī and yoga teacher, Lalitha Lorena. It is my pleasure to be here in this beautiful city, Labin. Indeed, it is surrounded by beautiful hills, very blessed nature. I doubt that people are not healthy here. Yoga in Daily Life has been practiced for a long time in this city, and I have many dear disciples or friends from this area. I am happy to be here this evening. Yoga is the science of body, mind, consciousness, and soul. It is one of the ancient, most ancient sciences. Yogas and yugas, thousands and millions of years. Nothing is older than yoga. Yoga stands above every religion. If one thinks that a person practicing yoga cannot follow a particular religion, then that person does not know what religion is and does not know what yoga is. Simply, yoga means balancing. Balance in the entire universe. Thousands of the sun systems, planets, visible and invisible elements. Our planet, the five elements out of which our body is made—body, mind, emotion, intellect, consciousness—are balanced through one principle, and that is yoga. Yoga means harmony. Where there is harmony, there is happiness. Where there is harmony, there is unity. So yoga means union. It is a uniting principle: the union of the individual consciousness with the cosmic consciousness. In the very beginning of this creation, the science of yoga was given by Lord Śiva. At that time, none of these religions existed here. The science of yoga, the knowledge and wisdom of yoga, was spoken by Lord Śiva for the well-being of this planet. This means we also belong to this planet, along with all other creatures. First of all, the thought behind this is that, while living a healthy and happy long life, a human should achieve the highest goal in this life. 8.4 million different creatures are created by one Creator. They are divided into three categories: jalchar, thalchar, nabchar—the creatures in the water, on the earth, and in the space. All this counts as 8.4 million different creatures, and one of them is the human. These are the 8.4 million different creatures in one cycle of birth and death, from the very beginning of creation. Through the cosmic sound, the divine sound, through this resonance, the individuality is created—the soul. These souls have existed since that time. These souls, or we, are floating on the waves of time through the endless universe, experiencing sometimes happiness or unhappiness, pain or pleasure, darkness or light. Ask thyself: what did you experience in this life? How was your life? How many times were the most beautiful days or hours, and how many days or hours or months or years were very troublesome? Every day is not equal. Ask thyself: how many times in the past were you born? This means also how many times you died. The great saint Śaṅkarācārya said: Who am I? From where do I come? What is the purpose of my coming into this world as a human? And where will I go? This human should know, but we do not know. We know only one thing: that we are born here, and these are our parents. But this soul was not just prepared here. You have behind you billions of kilometers. Tired. We are tired. But fortunate ones we are, blessed ones we are, happy ones we are, that we got a human life. This life is given to attain higher consciousness, to get out of the cycle of birth and death. And for that, the human body is given. Every creature is carrying the light of God. Nothing is created here that comes from other planets. Not only we humans, but even the plants are children of God. God is omniscient, omnipresent. There is only one God. We call Him with different names. God cannot be described only in body form. God is universal, one without second. He sees everything, but He does not have this physical eye. He smells everything, but He does not have this physical nose. He knows everything. There is God, and it is good in which way you believe; that is good. One day we will come to that one reality: that God is one. There is one lady. One man comes and tells, "It is my daughter." Another man comes, "Oh, my sister." The third one comes, "Oh, my wife." The fourth one comes. The fear is created by humans while creating dualities. Therefore, yoga said: no duality. Non-duality is reality, and duality is unreality. We are all one. We are made out of five elements. We all have the same color of blood. We all have the light of God, and other creatures too. So it is said to the human: live a healthy, happy, and long life. A healthy life through healthy nourishment, a long life through a healthy way of living, and achieve the highest goal through love. This means: be positive, be kind, and be humble. Love, believe there is God. Be good, be nice to all. Do not steal, do not lie. These principles are yogic principles. The great saint Patañjali, who lived about 1500 years before Christ, put these rules. He established one yoga path called Aṣṭāṅga Yoga, Rāja Yoga. Very clearly, he speaks about Yama and Niyama for a happy, healthy, harmonious life. And that is exactly what is also said in the testament, the Ten Commandments. So, every religion which has these principles—be kind, love, pray—these are the principles of yoga. So, yoga is above everything, and yoga unites within itself all religions. Yoga embraces all religions. And it must not be that you are religious. The biggest religion, the greatest religion for us, is humanity. That we are human. Do your exercises, that is all. It does not cost you money. It does not need to go somewhere. Just wake up, wash yourself, and have two square meters of space and just one piece of cloth, a blanket. But you can do without. Very simple, the best, simple, cheapest way to health is yoga. So, Yoga in Daily Life, the system, very systematically, step by step, anyone can practice anywhere. Only the book Yoga and the Life can be your best guide. It is so carefully written: who should practice, when should practice, how long should practice. It is a good thing. Breathing exercises, relaxation. Now, in this modern civilization, we are victims of stress. Stress can cause many illnesses. Day by day, new illnesses appear. How to get rid of the stress? If we can manage to get rid of the stress, many physical and psychic problems will be solved. And yoga can help us with that. You should know, every fifth person in the world is practicing yoga. Some practice yoga in their life, some practice different yoga using different names, but yoga is yoga. Do not make dualities again, like, "I believe this god, they believe that god." God is God, not two gods. Religion is religion. Then we use the name. Go beyond the name, then you will come to the reality. So there are many people, millions of people in the world, or billions, who get the benefit out of yoga. There are many companies in many countries that provide their employees lunchtime yoga exercises. This year I was twice in America and stayed in New York for a long time. I had many interviews, and I was surprised that nearly in every big company, they have one yoga room, about 100 square meters. And at lunch time, they all come and practice yoga. The insurance company pays them money to attend yoga class because yogīs are hardly ever ill. So this is very good for the insurance company; they do not have to pay a lot for medicine and treatments. In Germany also, you get a concession from your insurance companies if you practice yoga. Three times I read, at different times in America, there was a fighting between husband and wife, and the wife went to the lawyer, or he went to the lawyer, and there was a court case. So, in the court, the judge said, "This man who was not nice to his wife: three years, you have to attend yoga classes, or go to prison." He had to bring from the yoga teacher the report that he attended all these classes. After three years, that man became one of the best husbands. And she too. So yoga makes you a good person. It calms you down. It gives you clear consciousness. It opens your heart, and you understand your family and neighbors. You understand yourself. So, wherever you go—if you go to North America or South America, Australia, Japan, China, India, South Africa, Europe—yoga is so much practiced. And all these yogīs, I tell you, it does not matter which kind of yoga they practice, they never fight, and they never mix together with criminal activities. And they become lovers of this world. So in this way, yoga is also a way to peace, and a way to the human heart. Therefore, I am happy that in this part of Croatia, it is called Istria, yes, so many people are practicing. And especially Yoga in Daily Life in Croatia. So, I am very happy to see you, dear brothers and sisters. Practice. It is your life. It does not matter who tells you what. It is your life, your happiness. Do it. I wish all the organizers great success, that they are healthy, and that they will be able to serve this society. To teach yoga means service to the society, and for that, Yoga in Daily Life is here for you. Thank you for inviting me here, and I wish you all the best: much success, good health, and long life. God bless your city, God bless your family, and God protect and bless your country. I bless you in the name of God. May all be happy. May all be healthy. May no one face troubles. May I also be healthy. Peace, peace, peace. Thank you. Thank you. It is said: where there is a human, there is a culture. Where there is a culture, there is a human. I was very happy and delighted to see a little piece of the culture of this part of Croatia. I saw many instruments, and I thought there are only these instruments. But again, I was happy to see the new instruments. And our future, the future of our world, the young juniors performed a very nice dance and played. I pray for their happy life and happy future. Thank you. They were performing a nice dance and playing the instrument. Thank you. Thank you very much. After this program, Ślāmanjī will come to the ashram, and everybody is welcome, although there is not so much space, but thanks to the... Thank you. Good evening.
