The Flame of the Life

The inner flame of life is the vital energy within, distinct from physical fire. This prāṇic flame is the essence of consciousness through waking, dreaming, and deep sleep. Even in blindness, an inner light perceives through vibration and voice. When the body sleeps or tires, this light dims but retreats into the ātmā, never extinguished. The flame can appear to depart at death, yet life may linger as seen in a bird revived. One must care for this flame through practices like trāṭak and Hatha Yoga, feeding it with sustenance. Great yogis remain awake in meditation even as others sleep, navigating states of consciousness. The soul's journey continues beyond the body, like a flame moving far away.

"Where the lamp is gone. And where the flame is gone. That has gone into our ātmā."

"Others are awakened, and the yogīs are meditating. And others, they are sleeping. And the yogī is awakened."

Oṁ Deveśvara Mahādeva kīye, Ārādī Bhagavān Śrīdīp Nārāyaṇa Mahāprabhujī kīye, Satguru Svāmī Madhvanājī Bhagavān kīye, Satya Sanātana Dharma kīye, Māta Pitā Gurudeva kīye. Oṁ Śānti, Oṁ Śānti, Oṁ Śānti. My dear brothers and sisters, all of us are together now, all around the whole world. You see me, but I will not see you. Otherwise, it will be everything. We don’t know how, everywhere. Will be dead. But prāṇa, the jīva, the ātmā, everything is with all of you. And definitely you cannot see me in another form. A beautiful day of the full moon will come. And we will see what in our body, which kind of energies will activate it. That is a beautiful thing we are doing. But, my dear, still, according to the tradition, we are making our trāṭak. Trāṭak, trāṭak, trāṭak. This trāṭak is beautiful. In the trāṭak, many times we have heard that this is a fire. But that fire is not like this fire, which we can touch and feel the heat, etc. This energy and prāṇa, the fire in our body—so this inner tratak is more important. One bhakta was telling today, "Gurudev, there are some blind people. What about them there?" Well, it’s very right. We all know, including the animals also, we see that. But what about the blind one? Yes, God has given them inner light. That is in their trāṭak. Blind people, they are getting through the voice, the voice from the body, from our body, vibrating. And he or she can speak everything. In their voice and vibration, the blind creature and humans are feeling in the heart and in the nābhi. There is a beautiful light in them. That light we cannot see, but they see. When we sleep at night, then miracles are there, and what is that? First, we are tired, and we have tiredness, and we said we are tired, we are going to sleep. Everyone, every creature, they are sleeping, but they are alert. Every bird, animal, tiger—all similarly, we too. So that energy, that light, what we have is limited. Our lamp is getting slower and slower. That lamp is slowly, slowly going down. And what we can say, just for example, is that oil is not there. It means energy is not there, and the flame is gone. Where has the light gone? There is one beautiful poem. And there it is said, where the light is gone: "Dīpā, dīpak bhoj gayā, lo kahān chalī gayā." So where the lamp is gone. And where the flame is gone. That has gone into our ātmā. And that light is always there. So there, when we are going to sleep, there is a second. And that is what? How? We are completely without anything. We sleep, eyes closed, darkness. We are tired, the eyelids are closed, and we are in darkness, but we feel good. We are tired, so this is first called Jagrata. Jagrata means all are awakened. And when we are awakened, then our eyes are open, we see the light everywhere. That is called Jagrata, awaken. Then, sleeping. So we are in the sleeping nidrā. Nidrā means now we are sleeping. That is that we don’t know anything. Many things can happen if we are not aware. Then any animals can go over, storm, cobra can go over. It’s completely darkness. But in the whole brain, there is that awareness of, in that light of, in the world brain. And the heart is completely relaxed, but all the time there is the heartbeat. After that, suṣupta, jāgrat, and so on, this is called svapna. Svapna means the dream. What a wonder! We are sleeping in our house. We close our doors and everything. We are in the sleeping room, and we are relaxed, comfortable, relaxed. And we are in sleeping, that means dream. But you will not remain long in the dream. That jīva is constantly moving. And that goes to the svapna. Svapna means dream. And in the dream, you see many, many things. You are not other. Maybe someone is sleeping beside you. That will have another dream, and that other one will be another. Though they are very close, sleeping there. Maybe the mother and child, husband and wife, brothers and sisters, friends and family. But as we go from that consciousness, there is another light. And we go, we awake on the other level of life. And then the soul, the jīva, that is within, is gone in no time. Last two days, I was talking about that one Gurujī who went to the ocean and saved the bhakta. Through like a dream and came back. Reality. We are doing like a dreaming, but the great yogīs, they know they are sleeping, but they are awakened. Therefore, it is said, others are awakened, and the yogīs are meditating. And others, they are sleeping. And the yogī is awakened. It is something, just a miracle. So we are there in the dream. You went to some other country, maybe from here, the Czech Republic, and now we are in Australia. We are there, light, day, and you knock on your door. On your door, but nobody is opening the door. That thinks, my friend, is gone to the working. And he goes to the park and writes a letter to the... In the park, letter, and goes to his friend’s door and gives the letter there. After he or she goes to the city, suddenly a mosquito from Australia bites you. Here in the Czech Republic, in Strelka, Yoga in Daily Life, we are all here. We wake up. Now, that trāṭak. How far can we go with that trāṭak? It is said, when the soul goes out of the body, then it’s like a flame going very far; we don’t know where. So we say that when someone is alive, he is still alive; he is not dead. But when he opens his eyes, closes his mouth, and his mouth is open, and suddenly all power, all energy goes down, then we know that it’s all gone now. We cannot catch it back again, and that flame of life... Our life, the flame from this case, we are in the case. That flame is going, we don’t know where, how far. Sometimes moving round and round, some, not all. And he or she has ātmā that is gone. Sometimes it is said that we think one has died, but they are still not dead. Though they are getting cool, but still there is life there. Even the animals, even the birds, fall down and die. And after some time, flies. My experience was before five, not five, for this year. And there in Strelka, on our ashram, we were standing on the road. And on our wall, we were making, we wanted to make some pictures of the yogas. And one car passed. Bird fell down, another car came between and it was gone. So I said, "Please take this bird, maybe she’s living." And so, well, it’s not there, but we will throw it out. I said, "Don’t throw it away." So he took the bird and put it on our wall. There they put it, and it died. After half an hour or something, we were working there, and I said, "Look, if the bird, some other animal has taken her or killed her." She was lying down there, no breath. But when I said, "Go and see, maybe she’s alive." And that one of the bhaktas, I think the father of the parash, Scott, and he said, "OK, I will see." And he sees the bird fly. Look, there is still the prāṇa, inside the prāṇa was gone. The breath is gone, but there was the ātmā inside. And again, that Ātmā, the soul, that moves in the body. And she flew away. The person, we were a few people there. And they said, "Oh my God, thank you, she’s alive and she’s really okay," and she was gone. So, like this, because there is a light; when the light is gone, the flame is gone, then there is darkness. And so many people who die, many they come back. But when people put them somewhere in cold water or in the cold, and then they burn them. And those who are white, they are not doing; they are burning the body. Because in case of case, still, that soul is there, and they have a very bad situation; they can’t do anything. We can touch the body. It is nothing, but the Ātmā is inside. Therefore, it is said the people who burn the body in that creation, that makes... Sometimes people go in the night somewhere. How is it? But do not go. On the graveyard in the night, don’t go. So someone said that there is a fire still burning, and the astral body of that person is moving around, and sometimes it is whistling like the person. The same person, and you can go through his body. Don’t go there, that will not do nothing, but we will die where we have, oh my God, fear like that. This light, that tratak, the trāṭak is that in our body, in our side, and we should practice. Take care of this flame, and then many people, they again woke up after two days, and they were taking them to the graveyard, and one said, "Oh, where are we going?" So the jīvā comes back, the jīvā goes back, and therefore we said. Still, there is light in the body. It’s like a candle. So this flame and that flame is the life, and that we have to take care of and to care for. That final trāṭak exercise which we do, you have made perfect. So that your trāṭak, your flame, goes on far and far. Therefore, we have to, we should take care of all this energy in the body, which is a flame. And we are always giving the oil to this body. Means giving food, giving oxygen, giving water, everything. That this flame remains alive. And therefore, Hatha Yoga is the greatest thing. Don’t think that Hatha Yoga is something only like that. And so, what we call that—yesterday we were talking about Bhagavān, our God, Śiva. So were Pārvatī and Śiva. And they went to the one cave, a beautiful cave. Shiva was searching for that beautiful rock and the very good gufā. And then we give the name of that, Amarnāth. Amarnath cave is nearby in our India, near the place somewhere, and that is the name of that cave because it was immortal, and so it’s called Amarnath. Amarnath: Amr is immortal, and Nath is Shiva. Parvati’s name was not then. But only Amarnath. And it is said, those who will come there and make a praṇām and get a prasād, or stay there one night, it is said that they will gain immortality. So now you know, it is a time many, many people are going there. So that time, when from Amarnath cave, Śiva, Śiva was going behind one bird, the pipa, parrot, there is a papošek. He said, "Now..." Caught it back again, so Shiva went, and he came close to the Badrināth. And there was Ved Vyāsa, and Ved Vyāsa was somewhere coming back, and his wife was waiting in front of the curb, waiting for when he would come so they could eat and cook. It was about two hours before sunrise, and Śiva was running and running. Suddenly, that parrot ran quickly, and with the Vyāshtika’s wife, she was tired, and she was making her mouth open and yearning. The parrot thought, "There is no good cave anywhere; this is the best," and he went. In the stomach of the wife of the bedvijář, Śiva came. Śiva was tired, and he wanted to send his triśūla. Vedavyāsa came, and Vedavyāsa said, "Hey Bhagavān Śiva, please don’t kill her. She is pregnant." He said, "No, she is not pregnant. She just came." Shiva said, "Okay." And so Shiva went with Vyāsa, and with Vyāsa’s wife getting pregnant, it was the time where there should be the delivery, but the aunt wanted to come out of the pivot, but he did not want to come out. She was suffering, and all came. The Shiva, the Brahma, the Vishnu, all because Ved Vyāsa had his wife, they asked the God, so Brahma and Vishnu are there and said, "Please, parrot, come out," he said. I don’t want to come to this Kali Yuga again. I will die, so said, "We will not kill, and we will all be immortal." And then Parrot, he comes out, and there was Śukadeva. He was born. Sukhdev and Vedavyāsa were happy. The mother was relaxed. But Sukhdev, he said that came out Sukhmuni, but after some time again, Brahma said, "This will be as it is." So Sukhdev Bhagavān, he didn’t want any more speaking. Sukhmuni, therefore he was called Sukhmuni, and he went into the forest. "I will search for my guru." Vedavyāsa is his father; he is a great saint, a great guru, but no, the parents cannot give that dīkṣā of Sannyāsī, and so he is going. And slowly, slowly, he will come further, and he will search for the great ṛṣi or a great, great saint, so that he will come further. He is the father of Sītā. And that we will continue next time. So, my dear, today it means this flame, Trátek, is gone. Why? Because the parrot was looking with his eyes the whole night, Sita, not Sita, Lakshmi, Parvati, the Parvati slept, and now we see Sita will come, and there further we will go. So that’s why Sukhdev Muni does not want to talk anywhere. So we will see him go further there. That is another story about how Sukhdev is going further. And this is another story of how Śukadeva continues to get there. Viśvaguru Mahāmṛśwar, Pramīśivāmī Marśman, Jīpur Cikuru Devakī Jai. Oṁ Namaḥ Śrī Prabhu Dīpa Nārāyaṇam.
