Save your health in every way

A satsang message on health, yoga practice, and commemorating a spiritual teacher during the pandemic.

"I pledge to all people, all sisters and brothers, that we should all remain in peace and harmony."

"In the Yoga in Daily Life, I have given instructions to all people... Every day, practice yoga. That’s called yoga, which, for me, see, is Yoga in Daily Life."

Vishwa Guruji addresses a global audience, offering guidance for well-being during the coronavirus pandemic. He discusses the importance of hygiene, introduces a protective Ayurvedic tea (kaḍā), and explains simple yogic exercises like Sarvahitāsana that can be done anywhere. The talk also commemorates the anniversary of his teacher, Holy Guruji Swami Madhavanandaji, with a follower named Satya Prakash providing logistical announcements for upcoming virtual satsangs.

Good evening, and for other countries, good morning. All my dear sisters, brothers, all practitioners of yoga, all practitioners of the schools of Yoga in Daily Life—and it is all right, any yoga practicing—I wish them all the best. On these days, I pray for all our countries. It doesn’t matter which religion we are; I wish them good health, peace, and harmony. We should respect everyone, and I myself surrender to all my humans and all brothers and sisters. We should all remain as one, in peace and harmony. I pledge to all people, all sisters and brothers, that we should all remain in peace and harmony. This is the time in this year, and that’s about the coronavirus. And it is said, "Someone, there is no purification in our earth." We don’t know from what it happens—impurities, maybe in the waters, maybe in some forest, or in the villages, in cities. So we ourselves try to make more and more cleansing everywhere. This practicing of Yoga in Daily Life, which we are teaching, learning, and practicing, includes many different kinds of yoga: Āsanas, Prāṇāyāmas, meditations, concentrations, etc.—Haṭha Yoga, Karma Yoga, Bhakti Yoga, etc. I know you know more than myself. So I am not giving you that; I am giving you this school. You are all perfect, everything. But still, I try to think of all humans, I respect you, and I am telling you to do that kind of exercise and Prāṇāyāma, etc., like yoga—or you may not give the name of yoga, but you should do that for our body, our heart. Everyone is saying that we shall wash our hands many times, and we should have this mask because it should not go into our inhalation. When it goes towards the lungs, then it can become something like what they call a disease. I know that we have done a very nice kind of tea, and that we call it the kaḍā. This kaḍā is made from different kinds of spices, like black pepper, long pepper, tulsi, and many others that we have written. Tomorrow, I will bring it to you, and you can make it at home. It’s like we are making coffee or tea. So we can put in one liter of water and boil it, and then put in the spices we will tell you. Let it boil for about half an hour. Then, if you have no diabetes, you can put sugar, or we call it gourd, the gourd sugar. Gúr is very good. We should drink it in the morning before any meal, and half an hour before lunch we should also drink this tea. We can have it after or before going to sleep. It is a protection according to the Āyurvedas. And Āyurveda is only the herbs, many things. We have in your kitchen also everything—what we call the grandmother’s kitchen. So tomorrow I’m making this, and I will show you if you want. If you do not, no problem. No problem is there if you take or not. This is yours. For little children, they have very thin water, and this sugar is very good. It is sweet; children like it. I know that you know more than I do, my friends. And if someone can give us, or me, some kind of instructions for this body with health, please let me know so that we can use it. I am not a doctor. So, my dears, I respect the doctors, and I know the doctors know much better than myself. But I am talking about yogic science, and with yogic science, that is the Āyurveda. And Āyurveda means that there is not anything like a religion or anything like this. We know that we like every tree. We like our vegetables. We have many fruits, and it is for everyone. So, there are many things that we should and should not use. The main thing is what we should mix in it, how long should we boil. So it is just like our vegetables, our herbs, etc. This is the time for us all, and now the winter is coming here, this part of Europe, etc. Many people will also get, perhaps, coughing, etc. So if there is coughing like this, don’t think that it is corona. You know that every year when the winter comes, we have coughing and things like this. Some countries now have a hot season, and which they also have as a heat, there are also a lot of infections. So also they should use certain herbs. You can say herbs or Āyurveda. Vidyā means the science of medicine, or we say the doctors. My dears, we have to change. When we are going out of our house, somewhere in the street, then what are we doing? We are giving some kind of air, and that we should not take out. So, we are sweating when we’re walking; the air is touching many forms in the streets. So, when we come home, we should first wash our hands and mouth, and we should take our dress off and put on new clothes. It is our own duty, what we should do. I hope that the whole world, all of us, have understood. We are not talking about business and money and like that, but we are thinking of mankind. So, I wish and I ask you, my dear, please take care of your health, your parents, grandparents, children, neighbors, etc. In Haṭha Yoga, techniques which I was—three weeks I am talking—and in these Haṭha Yogas are the techniques which are purification through the body. And we should do the Prāṇāyāma, but alone, not with the people, two, three. Because when we are inhaling and exhaling, like in Prāṇāyāma, then air goes from our body, both out and inside, and we don’t know what we are exhaling or inhaling. So in the Yoga in Daily Life, I have given instructions to all people. And I know, my dear brothers, sisters, practitioners of yoga, who want to practice. They are all practicing, and they have instructions you already have. Every doctor and many people gave us a lot of instructions. But you and I, we are giving instructions every day. Yoga in Daily Life has many, many steps of yoga practice. And there are four techniques, simple, very simple. And that’s called Sarvahitāsana. That kind of yoga, which we call yoga, is the best one—Yoga in Daily Life. Now what is this? There’s nothing special. But what is awakening us? Then that is yoga. So that is our Yoga in Daily Life. Every day, practice yoga. That’s called yoga, which, for me, see, is Yoga in Daily Life. There are many chapters, and from that, the first chapter is called "Beginning"—the yoga which is for all people. You can sit in the chair, on the comfortable sofa, or you are lying in the bed. Very nice and very good, this exercise. That is Sarvahitāsana. Sarva means all, for everyone. Sarva-hita. And hita means for their good health, so every day we should do that, which is what we call Sarva-hita-āsana. And āsana means postures, so even we will move our hand and we close our fist, and we open our fist. These movements only. You are lying in the hospital on the bed. While lying on the bed, or you can raise up your hand if you can, and close your fist and open. You know that I, many times in teaching of the Yoga in Daily Life... and sometimes I’m making some kind of exercise to show you how to do it, the technique. And there it is like this, for example: I close my fist, thumb inside, and now bring it near, and then with the right hand, hold your wrist and hold it hard, and then open our palm. We look to our palm. I will show you in the front side. So I have closed the fist. I hold my wrist. First, I hold my fist very strong, and I hold it like this. And now I will open my palm. And you see how it looks like that? Pale. There is some kind of sensation in the whole palm, fingers, etc. And this is not a miracle, okay? No, no, no. And now you see how your palm is very, like, pale. And now I open my hand, wrist. Look, my dear. What is the color of my palm? And now you feel how nice we feel, very good. So similarly, we should do with the other hand also. Always, we should go first with the left hand. Yes, that is very important. Now, let’s say again, I show you my demonstration. Yes, you know my hand as it is, very nice, very as it is. And now I will close my fist. Strong. Very strong, and then I will hold my wrist. And hold from the left hand, and now I will open my right hand. And you see, because I blocked the blood, there is no anything, miracles, but I hold your hand and the blood is, how to say, blocked. You know how is the color of my palm? Yes, yes. Yes, and now I will open. And what will be? There is no miracle. And why is the hand so red? The hand is so pleasant feeling—nice, warm. And both hands are very good. But the circulation from the whole fingers and palm and everything, it is coming in from the tips of the fingers. And if there is, you have given a needle, like for the diabetes needle, and then you will put it here. When I hold it, and when I will rest, I’m empty and leave it, hand out. Immediately, your blood will speak. So it is like this, that when we are—and every day we should do, you know, when we get up from the bed—we lie down, sleeping, and when we get up, we wake up. Then we say, "What is that?" That we are again awakening the whole nerve system, also the muscles. Everything that is yoga, stand up. Many are doing like this, so many, many people. You see that even the dog getting up is also stretching, and the cats, they are also stretching, also. Cows or others, they are also coming up and stretching. So in that way, Yoga in Daily Life has given to millions of people that they got their body, their hands much better again. For old people, your mother, grandmothers, grandfathers, our neighbors, etc., we can help everyone through this. So, sarvā means all, and hita means for good, all, and āsanas, this kind of exercises. In the same way, when we move our arm, and this part, many, many people can and are using, they are making some kind of bodybuilding, and like this, very good, why not? Best. But yoga is there, stretching and slowly, soft. And it’s not only for the five fingers and the wrist and arm, but the whole hand. And it comes to the shoulder, and from the shoulder to the shoulder blade. And at the shoulder blade, if you have problems, it will release everything. And from this also comes towards the neck, and here the veins, which are going on, are bringing the blood and coming very nicely. My dears, this is only that we close and we go back. One and a half hours, or two hours, get up. That’s early, and after ten days, definitely you will wake up automatically. Your body will say, "Let’s practice." And after two hours, everything, you wash yourself, and like this, and about seven o’clock, you can go to your work. Also about food, and that food, of course, many, many countries, they have all what they want to eat. It is their taste. Similarly, our yoga practice, which we call Sarvahitāsana, and that is also for the legs, the foot, the foot, and there are also beautiful exercises which I could have demonstrated, but they are not placed there. So, our toes, we are pulling like this and opening like this. When we are moving our toes really very nicely, you will feel it in your ears, because that is called all the nerves and many other centers in the body. It is not only that in our toes and fingers, etc. On our whole skin, what do we have? And even a mosquito biting us, anywhere. The vibration is in the whole body. So, my dear, the Sarvahitāsana of the Yoga in Daily Life, many people, they can gain good health. Of course, if you are young or this, you can do many other postures, but not very good. But if not, we can regain our good health. So this is one of the days. Today I was thinking a lot about our friends, our brothers, everyone. So we know, you and me and all, we are all born to live happy, healthy, good and long living. And we all know that we want to do good in life, definitely. But it is said in yoga that our body has to bring in that way very subtle movements. For example, you are sitting in your office on the chair, and in front of the table, you have your machine, and many of you are working like this. And men can also, they are doing, but mostly our dear sisters and mothers, all women, they are working very hard. And many at home come, they are coming hand like this. So that is very good. Do it just for ten times: one, two, three, four. Move this, this, and in that way, like this and like this, two minutes. And then just take your, some... what do we? No, not mara the base table on the pen. So put the pen down, go down, and catch it again. Another five fall again and take it. It is not a game, but this movement, this side and that side, our whole back and our shoulders stretching. In the way we can stretch up, very strong, like this. One, two, three, and four. Down, like this, and work on that. So, my dear, all these such very subtle movements in our body, in the office, everywhere, and it is two minutes here, two minutes there, something like this. That is Sarvahitāsana Yoga in Daily Life. I wish you all the best and have good health, a good life, a long, long life, and be healthy. My dear, today is a full moon, and everyone has much knowledge, and we want to see the moon. And I think today is a full moon, and our friends, all the Muslims, they have some festival, and they are doing very good, and they think of life and their religions. I don’t know very much about that, but I know something. So they are making so many fastings, and so I wish them all the best for this day. According to our month, tomorrow is the day of our Holy Gurujī, Hindu Dharm Samrāj Swāmī Madhavānandī Mahārāj, my Gurudev. You are our grand Gurudev, and it is the anniversary of when he passed away. And we are all celebrating or making the satsaṅgs, programs, etc. On the name of our Satguru Śrī Svāmī Madhavānandajī Bhagavān, today on this day we celebrate and honor him, and we tomorrow also make a practice, prayers, and some prasāda, etc. So, in every country, in every Yoga in Daily Life center, at home, etc., and in India, they are blessing our Gurujī. And at the end, Holī Gurujī said, "One in all and all in one." So this year, because we know this corona, and people won’t like to come together for this, but we don’t want that we come together because of this Corona, so everyone is doing it in their home. But I would like to tell some words about that: our Holy Gurujī Swāmī Madhavānandajī, our paramparā, our this Yoga in Daily Life, all this mind. They are from the Śiva time, Satya Yuga, Alakpurījī, where this is the Alaknandā River in the caves of the Himālaya, and then Alak Purījī, then Dev Purījī. After that, our Bhagavān Dīp Nārāyaṇ Mahāprabhujī. And then our Satguru Swami Madhavānandajī. But the Alak Purījī is from the Satya Yuga, the first Yuga: Satya Yuga, Dvāpara Yuga, Tretā Yuga, and Kali Yuga. So there were many, many ṛṣis with that. I don’t know how many of my ancestors there were. But I was working, and I came to that all, yes, where was Alak Purījī, this, this. If you know Kāvīkālī Dāsa in India, he was a great person. He was about 2,400 years old. And he was writing how the yogīs at that time were talking with the clouds. This book is about 200 years old. Books from Germany, and many other countries, they have ten. And so, in that way, it is our day of Holī Gurujī, we call Holī Gurujī. In 1975, the Holy Gurujī came with me to Czechoslovakia at that time. We called him Sadguru Swami Madhavānandjī, Guru Dev. But in Czech, one person, he said, "Holy Gurujī." And it was very easy for people to call Holy Gurujī, our Gurujī. And so it began from the Czech Republic, Czechoslovakia also. Holy Gurujī, Holy Gurujī, Holy Gurujī. Now, in the whole world, all bhaktas everywhere are calling Holy Gurujī. Yeah, so short, very Holy Gurujī. So Gurujī passed away this date. So we could not make big fests or satsaṅgs around the world, but we will read something for you about our Gurū Dev. So please, everyone around the world, listen to this and give the message further to all. And then, according to Jyotiṣa, every year the moon is different. And because we are following the moon, yes, so that is very great. So we will speak now about that. So our dear brother Scott, he has the yoga name Satya Prakāś. So now we will call him from today always Satya Prakash, Satya Prakash, if you can turn that side, sit down because it is too high. Come more in the front. Yes, thank you, that’s right. So, all the best. And our brother is reading for Mahāprabhujī, Holy Gurujī, and Satguru Swāmī Madhvanājī Bhagavānkā day to day. Hari Om. Praṇām Gurudev. Hari Om, Guru sisters and Guru brothers. On October 31st, 2003, our revered and beloved Satgurujī Hindu Dharmasanmāt Paramahaṁsa Svāmī Madhavānanājī left his mortal body in Mahāsamādhi to unite with Mahāprabhujī in the immortal world. During this weekend, which also coincides with the Śarad Pūrṇimā or the autumn full moon, we commemorate Holy Gurujī in our Yoga in Daily Life centres and satsaṅgs, if COVID-19 regulations allow it, or, alternatively, privately, with our families at home. The next special satsaṅgs in November and December will be for Dīvālī on November 14th and on November 21st to remember Holy Gurujī again on the anniversary of his Mahāsamādhi according to the Vedic lunar calendar. Due to the enhanced pandemic situation, this year there will be no seminars and no large satsaṅgs with Viśva Gurujī on Holy Gurujī’s Mahāsamādhi day or Dīvālī. As you know, Vishwa Gurujī is staying at Struki Ashram during these COVID-19 lockdowns. We can see and hear his inspiring daily satsaṅgs on the webcasts on Swamijī TV. We are truly blessed and happy to have the opportunity to be with Viśva Gurujī every day in this way. Vishwa Gurujī will talk about Holy Gurujī, Śraddhā Pūrṇimā and Dīvālī in his next satsaṅgs. Please look at the announcements on Swamiji TV. And if someone does not have the time to listen to the live programs, you can go back and rewind up to four hours on the live stream on the YouTube channel Yoga in Daily Life to follow Viśwa Gurujī’s lectures later. In his spirit, Vishwa Gurujī is always with us. He constantly thinks of us and sends us his strength and blessings. He appeals to us to strictly follow the national regulations of COVID-19 measures in order to care for not only our own health, but also the health of others. Please observe the hygienic precautions. Keep social distance and minimize social contacts for a while, or as long as required by the government. Vishwa Gurujī sends this message to us. Now, we have the opportunity to focus our minds on our inner self, to practice the yogic virtues of śama and dhama, inner balance, control of the senses, tyāga, tapasyā and uparati, renunciation, discipline, and to stand above things. Cultivate positive thoughts. Keep your inner contentment and happiness. Be sure that one day in the near future, this time will also come to an end, and we will again be able to travel and meet in person. Dear brothers and sisters, we wish you a very blessed and contemplative time in November and December, and we look forward to seeing Viśwa Gurujī and each other again, either virtually or in person. Hari Om, and in service of Gurudev, the fellowship team. Our Satgurujī, holy Gurujī, holy Gurujī.
