Doctors and yogis are similar

The practice of yoga is a universal medicine for body and spirit, leading from physical movement to inner awakening.

All beings possess love and seek happiness. Humans, with greater understanding, must reflect on their daily actions and their effects. The states of waking, dreaming, and deep sleep define our consciousness. What we consume influences our future, as the body distributes it throughout. A true doctor treats all without judgment, aiming to heal regardless of a person's choices. This is the same spirit as a true yoga teacher or guru. Many schools and teachers exist, like many hospitals, but the essence of the practice is one. The specific vehicle matters less than the journey toward the destination. Physical practice is the foundation. To progress beyond the body to the astral energies and kuṇḍalinī requires proper guidance. The foundational energy system, like the body's essential elements, must be in balance. Without this balance, one cannot advance.

"Simply, in this way, we can also consider what is going on in our body."

"To go further, we have to have a guru who can meditate and lead us."

Good evening to all sisters, brothers, yogīs, practitioners, and everyone on the path of peace, harmony, understanding, and the divine. We know that every animal or creature also has a feeling of happiness. Each animal, with its babies and children, possesses a very deep love, understanding, and protection for its own. Similarly, we humans have even more knowledge, feelings, and understanding for our fellow human beings. We believe we are good and are doing good. We should proceed on that path, giving more help, blessings, and everything we can to protect others. In this way, we must know from our inner side: What have I done today? What did I do tonight? How did you sleep? Was it deep? What kind of feelings did you have in your bed? According to that, you will have dreams and also your quality of sleep. There are the states of Jāgrat (waking), Suṣupta (deep sleep), and Svapna (dreaming). In the waking state, we are awakened. Our eyes are open, our ears hear everything from outside, we move and walk with our feet, and we are very alert and clear. We know where we are and how we are stepping. We are clearly aware of where we are passing through and entering. It is not that there is any poison; everyone eats what they like. But they say, "I will not die. I will not have this poison. I will be healthy." So it depends on everyone how they want to eat. Yet it is said that the kind of food we eat will influence our future. Therefore, our food—what you are eating, what you like—you are doing good. I cannot tell you anything. I only tell you to observe how you are feeling good and happy. But we must consider what we consume in our intense times and how many things we are eating. We know our stomach distributes everything to the different parts of the body—to the muscles, blood, bones, etc.—so that it reaches where it is needed. I mention every day that our doctors know about the body. They know all organs, all cells. Those doctors who have studied for many years know which parts of the body—the nerves, glands, organs, blood, everything—and have experienced what is for what. I always say this. Sometimes people say doctors are not good, and so on. Of course, everyone has their own mouth and can say what they wish. But those doctors who have learned know they will do good for this body. For example, during big fights or wars where people die, the soldiers are taken by bus or ambulance. That doctor will not say, "I will not treat these people or this country." No, they will treat anyone. These doctors are really trying very hard to give life to a person. It does not matter from which side they are. Doctors will take care. If someone will not do so, then it is a pity; that is not a doctor. Simply, in this way, we can also consider what is going on in our body. Of course, there are different things we are always thinking about. Some people drink alcohol, some take drugs, some kill and eat animals, and some do not. Some feel differently. These are different things. But a doctor will not say, "If you have been eating meat, I will not give you treatment," or "If you drink alcohol, I will not treat you." The doctor will not take it like that. A doctor may say, "Please don’t eat like this, don’t drink, etc.," but equally, they will give the treatment. And that is the same as a yogī, the same as a guru—because he or she, the guru, can be female too. Females can also be very good doctors. We all have the same body, and we all have knowledge. We are also learning, so there should be no differences. We have to learn all that the doctors are doing. Of course, some people say this treatment was not good and that one was, but that is a different thing. A doctor will not give you only poison to kill. Even if they think a person is going to die, they will still give some kind of medicine so there is no pain inside. Similarly, yogic practices are also like this: meditation, practice, āsanas, everything. Now, there are many hospitals and many doctors. Similarly, there are many yoga centers and very good teachers, yogīs. They are doing their work, treating us. For example, we speak of Yoga in Daily Life. People all around the world are practicing and like it very much. Now, it doesn’t matter if it is Maheśvarānand or Śivānand or Premānand or Jñānānand—they all practice Yoga in Daily Life. There is no difference, no dualities. Whether it is a permanent teaching, or Agni Devī, or Gyāneśvarānand, they all will also do only this Yoga in Daily Life. Do not think of this person’s picture, but you will see something. There is some posture exercise. This position is the body which is twisting—not of this person, but this movement of the body inside. Here, this person is a master guru giving instructions to the students. That is very, very important: we should know what we need. It is said that it does not matter which car it is, but we are sitting in that car and it is rolling. It doesn’t matter if it’s a red car, a black car, a yellow car, or if the wheels are black or red. The main thing is that we are sitting in the car, and it’s all technology, all this mechanism. They are all for us, bringing us to our place, to our destination where we wanted to go. Now you understand. Maybe more so, it doesn’t matter which guru, which yoga center, or which yoga teachers; it is the same idea. I know many times that even one doctor sends a patient to other doctors. You can go to that doctor who has special instruments. And that doctor will say, "I tell you, you should go to that particular doctor," because his doctor didn’t let us go to another hospital. So, my dear, as long as I know, many, many doctors I know have said, "You go there." No doctor will say that another doctor is not good. If there is something, the doctors discuss with each other the disease and how to treat it. So now, what happens? Many people only say, "Come to my school, my yoga school. My school is good. We have good students. We have a good Gurujī." That is something like this. That means these people did not understand what yoga is. And that is sometimes happening. Then these people will go away, so it is negative. But we know, either a doctor or anybody, more or less, one day we will die, and doctors will also die. Similarly, my dear, I want to... You see, many people ask Swamiji, "Why are you talking so much about the doctor?" I want to tell this because it is right. For example, there is one medicine, and nobody can take medicine for anyone. They should go to the medicine shop, the pharmacy, and say, "I want a medicine. I have a very strong stomach or brain." No one will give you the medicine. They will say, "Yes, but please go to the doctor and bring a prescription." Then, when he gives this medicine, I give it, and it is written on it how to take the medicine in a good way. And if there is no medicine in that shop, they will say, "Perhaps in that place you can get it." So, my dear, we need this understanding around the whole world. Our Prime Minister Modi Ji in India worked very hard. He brought it to the United Nations, and all came to agree that yoga is the best. They gave yoga to the whole world. Thanks to him, the United Nations recognized that yoga is beneficial for the whole world. Some did not say yes at first, but after a few days, they also said yes, we want yoga. Because it is not that yoga is only because of India—and yet, yoga is from India. But do you think yoga is not good in Europe? If you say, "Well, that’s why yoga isn’t good for Europe?" No. It is the same medicine everywhere in the world. Maybe there is a different name for that medicine. Similarly, yoga is all the same. So you can go to another school and practice there. When you are going to some other country for one week or two weeks, you have some company. You practice yoga and ask if there is a yoga center. Somebody might say, "No, I’m not teaching at your yoga center, so we will not give you practice." That is a negative thing. So you know that our Yoga in Daily Life, for example, in London, in Britain—many of my disciples from here, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, many of these countries—these people are going there. They don’t know if there is a school, and we are as a guru, or how that teacher is. Guru and teacher are the same. If you don’t know if there is any yoga, what kind of teacher is there, what kind of guru is there... So they are asking sometimes, and they said, "Is there any Yoga in Daily Life?" We don’t have so many schools in London, but many of our practitioners, our bhaktas, are in London, and they will tell you there is yoga in their life, or this is another yoga you can go and practice. So, for Yoga in Daily Life, say for example, we don’t have medicine in Yoga in Daily Life. So we can go to the Sivanandājī ashram. If not that, then Ānandānandajī’s ashram. Similarly, in that way, this, our yogic science, the medicine—the medicine is not like a physical one, but mental, and just movements, in that way that we can bring again into the world one day. Of course, every doctor has doctors, hospitals, and other doctors also have. Of course, they are also earning money; they also want to have other... But they will not say, "Don’t go there." And the medicine is also the same. But you know, every hospital—how they are hospitalizing us, how good, how clean, how doctors, how nurses, how it is there. And so is yoga. So we know that every yoga center is teaching yoga. But further, after physical movements, then how are we going to go above our body? The astral body, which is full of energies, and according to that, then we are coming to our kuṇḍalinī. You have a very nice picture here, and you know, in that also, your book "Hidden Powers in Humans." In this book, it is very, very clear and given point by point, if people want to get into this. Now, for example, there is some other yoga center, and they also have what we call the cakra and kuṇḍalinī. It’s not only in my book. In every good yoga teacher or guru, they also have beautiful and nice instructions on this side. But those who are taking from one here, from here, from here, and make the book—that is not good. But those who take something from the truth, who describe something from the truth, and so on, that is not okay. Did you experience your Master? Did he teach you exactly? Because, you know, my dears, many people try to have Kuṇḍalinī. Many people would like to awaken Kuṇḍalinī. And I’m sorry to say that some of them are not giving the exact practice, and they are working under the Mūlādhāra Cakra. In this Mūlādhāra Cakra, how many points are here? Down here is the Hanumān of the Gaṇeśjī. And this is what? Which kind of animal is this? An elephant, and this elephant has seven trunks. Now, how will you say, what is this? Is this like roots? It can be, but it is like this: the seven roots that are the tracks of the elephant. This is the energy, and these are sapta dhātu. Sapta dhātu is like all, like we have irons, these different kinds of metals. So not only which metals, there are different things, seven. And this is the first point for us to know. If the saptadhātu is not proper in the body, then we are ill. If only one is missing, then we are getting ill, and we know we are going slowly, slowly back. For example, we have four wheels in the car, and one wheel’s air has gone out. Maybe it will roll half a kilometer or a kilometer, but then you cannot go further. So, about this Ṣaḍdhātu... This is very, very important. The doctor knows. The doctor will say what we are needing, so it is the same thing. Śabda-dhātu—so that, not tissues, but more. We will talk about this tomorrow, and that’s why it is the seven dhātus. And that’s why the elephant is down. The elephant is one of the very, very ancient elephants, or animals, and that is a mighty power. And after that, further, how it is going—you will see again tomorrow. Let’s come to this point. So what I want to tell you: not only myself, there are thousands or millions of the best yoga practitioners or yogīs. But not only physical yogīs doing that kind of exercise—āsanas, prāṇāyāmas, and maybe a little concentration. But then to go further, we have to have a guru who can meditate and lead us. But kuṇḍalinī is not something like a power-up like that. No, no, no. And we will talk then about what is kuṇḍalinī. Oṁ Namaḥ Śrī Prabhu Dīpa Nārāyaṇam. Oṁ Namaḥ Śrī Prabhu Dīpa Nārāyaṇam. Haṁsabhādas Prabhu Śaraṇa Parāyaṇam. Haṁsabhādas Prabhu Śaraṇa Parāyaṇam. Oṁ Namaḥ Śrī Prabhu Dīpa Dhārayaṇam. Oṁ Namaḥ Śrī Prabhu Dīpa Dhārayaṇam.
