Live Balanced Life

A global satsang addressing spiritual transition and contemporary challenges.

"In this age, we see many divisions. It is said the times are changing, and a transition between Yugas is approaching."

"Therefore, we should every day chant the mantra 'Namaḥ Śivāya.' ... This is the time of Śiva."

Swamiji addresses practitioners worldwide, reflecting on the lunar cycle, the tensions of the current Yuga, and global crises like the pandemic and conflict. He discusses the need for divine balance, symbolized by Lord Śiva, and responds to a question about COVID-19 vaccination by sharing his personal choice while emphasizing individual responsibility. The talk concludes with a collective chanting of the Śiva mantra for peace and protection.

Ārādhi Bhagavān Śrīdīp Nārāyaṇ Mahāprabhujī kī jaya. Devadhī Dev Deveśvar Bhagavān Śrīdev Purījī Mahādev kī jai. Satguru Swāmī Madhavānjī Bhagavān kī jai. Satya Sanātana Dharma kī jai. Sabṛṣi Muni Santau kī jai. Dear sisters, brothers, Yoga in Daily Life practitioners, students, teachers, and Guru Kṛpā. It is a beautiful day. Every day is a good day, and day by day, we are all learning more and more good things. Yoga in Daily Life, around the whole world, is shared through Swāmījī television, which is dedicated solely to yoga and good things, offered freely to all. We have the instruments to share this, and our many practitioners and teachers also work freely. Yet, there are costs: acquiring or repairing instruments, or helping when disasters strike anywhere in the world. Our work is not only for Yoga in Daily Life but for all yogīs, practitioners, schools, and ashrams—we see oneness in all. We extend this help and respect to all people and even to other beings, like bees. This year is soon concluding. December is a beautiful month where people are happy. In some places, it is winter with snow and cold; in others, like Australia, it is warm and people swim in the ocean. As I speak to the whole world, I must balance these realities—the cold here, the heat there. We must balance times, temperatures, cultures, and the different spiritual paths we call religions. I wished to speak about something today. Yesterday was the dark night, Amāvasyā, with no moon. Today is the first lunar day, Pratipadā. We move from darkness to light. This rhythm of day and night, moon and no moon, is natural. The moon's phases affect our bodies, humans, animals, and nature. On a full moon, many cannot sleep; even animals in the forest are restless. I know of a person who, on full moon nights, climbs onto his roof with a gun. His wife goes to her parents' house. He does not shoot but walks about. Others feel depressed or get headaches. The atmosphere of the entire globe is in motion. For those practicing yoga sincerely, it leads to a good and balanced life. Some find balance in singing beautiful bhajans, others in cultural knowledge or dance. We hail from Ālagpurījī's Himalayas. We speak of the Yugas: Satyuga, Dvāparayuga, Tretāyuga, and Kaliyuga. They create great differences. In this age, we see many divisions. It is said the times are changing, and a transition between Yugas is approaching. Each Yuga has positives and negatives, the divine and the demonic. As humans sitting together, we cannot know what is in another's mind. Some feelings are hidden; others are happy and free. Two people may look normal, but upon reacting or speaking, their true nature is revealed, and negativity can surface quickly. Many are spiritual or religious, others are not, yet they are very good. The problem arises when one thinks, "I am the best and good," and another says, "No, I am the good one." How do we master this? In the Holy Book of Jesus, it is said: if someone strikes you on one cheek, offer the other. Holy saints do not label things as simply bad or good. People follow their guru or god, but then fight amongst themselves, saying, "My God is good." We must follow very carefully. From the Satyuga to the later Yugas, like Tretāyuga, many gods and religions emerged, all good with no problem. But now, negativity increases. Who knows who is good? Both sides claim to be good, like children fighting over whose mother is better. This needs purification. In the world's Jyotiṣa (astrology), there are two systems: one following the moon, the other only the sun. The balanced and exact system is with the moon. It is said that every third year, there is an extra month or one less, due to the cycles of the sun and moon, like two new moons in a month. This creates change. In this Yuga, across the whole globe, even over the oceans, many negative things happen. The oceans face great problems with waves and more. At the very beginning, there was Śiva. Śiva had no father and no mother. He manifested through the five elements: earth, water, air, fire, and space (ākāśa). Śiva himself produced within his body both male and female principles. The male has more power to attack; the female has more feeling and can also attack the male. Both come together; otherwise, nothing happens. Nature develops through these feelings. It is very difficult to control, but as one progresses spiritually, such desires fall away. Next time, I will tell you about a beautiful book. Now, a dark, negative time is coming. It must change again, and no one can do this—not Rāma, nor Kṛṣṇa, nor Jesus. It must come through a power like that of Śiva. We do not know from which country. Today, someone gave me a very important question. When, for example, your wife becomes pregnant, on the first day she does not know if it will be a girl or a boy. I do not know either, but I wish for everything to be good. This does not depend on any one person. This question is for the whole world. This past year, everything has been changing very quickly, with less positive and more negative. It can be war, disease, earthquakes, fighting. This means Śiva has to arise. I say this not from my own side, but in thought for the whole world. I respect all people from all countries. I am not a master; I only share what I know. I respect all my friends around the world. There are many earthquakes, many problems over the oceans. People are preparing problems, making wars. Wars are at the door in many countries. I pray to God, to Mahāprabhujī, to Devpurījī, to Jalakpurījī: please, no war, no killing of anyone. But soldiers are already prepared at borders. And in between came Corona. Many ask: Why? From where? We do not know the origin of these infections. Every country is trying its best to protect its people. I think deeply, and you also, my dears: why does this disease affect humans so? Some say maybe cats can be affected; I do not know for sure. It spread quickly, across oceans and through the air, attacking humans. Millions have died, and waves of it return. Many scientists work hard. All governments and politicians strive to protect their people, and neighbors help each other. Someone from Slovenia put a question to me today. Our translator is from Slovenia; he has more knowledge of his village, city, and country than I do. I am from India, and people also ask me, "Swāmījī, what to do?" All ministers and countries are doing their best. Scientists from around the world have worked tirelessly for months to develop medicine. The question is: What is your opinion about vaccination for coronavirus? Should we take it or not? I am not a scientist, a doctor, or a politician. I am a yogī. I work to protect people, not only from corona but from many things. Yoga in Daily Life protects many people, though some in large gatherings were affected. It is said for humans that all should lean towards a vegan lifestyle. This mega-vegan trend comes from vegetarianism. In my observation, about 90-98% of my disciples in Yoga in Daily Life do not take meat, eggs, or drugs, and they were not affected by corona. I will not elaborate further, but I will say: in my position, I will take this vaccine. It is your choice. Your government is doing it for you. If you say no, it is your choice. Around the world, humans are very depressed, and many have died. I pray today for the whole world, for all humans: please, God, bless us and make us healthy again. Whether we take medicine or not, one day we will die. But in this situation, from my side, I will take it. For you, I cannot say; you should decide yourself, my dear. I know why this happened. This is the Yuga for Bhagavān Śiva. In which form Śiva will come, we do not know. It could be in any country, in any form. Satyuga is coming; it is not here yet but very close. That is why there are so many problems. Then Śiva will cleanse everything. You may call God Śiva, or you may have another God. Look up to Śiva; that power will come. Many people believe in their gods, believing only in that one. But that is just a name. The living God is everywhere. Many people have received the vaccine but do not want it. That is okay. One says, "My God is this," another says, "My God is that." Do not speak of my God and your God. We have only that one God, and that is the power of Śiva. Śiva is very humble. Śiva balances all negatives and keeps the peace. This God, Śiva, is humble and equal to both sides, negative and positive. Therefore, we should every day chant the mantra "Namaḥ Śivāya." Oṁ Namaḥ Śivāya! Oṁ Namaḥ Śivāya! Śivarī! Oṁ Namaḥ Śivāya, Oṁ Namaḥ Śivāya... OṂ NAMAŚIVĀYA. OṂ NAMAŚIVĀYA. Chant it morning and anytime, verbally or mentally. Always: OṂ NAMAŚIVĀYA, NAMAŚIVĀYA, NAMAŚIVĀYA. This is the time of Śiva. So, my dear one from Slovenia who asked the question about the vaccine: you should decide what is best for your country. I wish you all the best. I pray that no one will die from this vaccine or any other disease, and that there will be no war. Oṁ Namaḥ Śivāya. Śrī Deep Nārāyaṇ Bhagavān Kī. Devpurījī Mahādev Kī. Satguru Swāmī Madhavān Jī Bhagavān Kī. Alakpurījī Mahādev Kī. Namah Śivāya. Oṁ Namah Śivāya. Har Har Bholē. Namah Śivāya, Namah Śivāya. Oṁ Namah Śivāya, Har Har Bholē, Namah Śivāya. Oṁ Śāntiḥ, Śāntiḥ, Śāntiḥ.
