We should know where our soul is

An evening satsang addressing spiritual practice and the announcement of a disciple's passing.

"Day by day, more and more people are developing their yoga practice."

"This means the time has come for people to return to their heart, and not to seek outside."

Swami Maheshvarananda addresses the global Yoga in Daily Life community, observing the growth of holistic practice and a turn toward compassion and vegetarianism. He reflects on the Kali Yuga, the omnipresence of the divine, and the eternal journey of the soul, sharing a prayer from Mahaprabhuji. The session becomes a tribute with the announcement of the passing of his longtime disciple Krishnanand of Hungary, reading a eulogy from the family and recounting the disciple's foundational service to the organization.

Good evening to all dear sisters and brothers, to all yoga practitioners and yogīs around the whole world, and to Yoga in Daily Life. Day by day, more and more people are developing their yoga practice. It is said that as people increase their practice, our path in this year may have its middle course, with some ups and downs. Many yoga centers from many countries ask how many are practicing more or less, or what the situation is at times. From our knowledge, in our centers and from other yoga teachers, schools, and colleges, the majority are practicing yoga: physical exercises, then prāṇāyāma, concentration techniques, meditation, and many other techniques. Because people are more in their homes, they are doing it very systematically. Sometimes people ask us questions. They ask if we can give the names of our students and where they are from. There is no problem in principle, but it is advised by governments around the whole world that one should not give out names and telephone numbers, etc. Therefore, I also never tell anybody their name or address. In the last few years, all governments are saying one should not give such information further. So if you want to know, you can inquire with yoga colleges, universities, and yoga centers. In my ashrams, I have many people practicing, but not under my name in that way. Even for the names and photos of children, or giving the parents' names, it is very important and secure that we should not give the names. But we are practicing very much, and even many people in many countries are developing, giving up meat, and so on. They are becoming vegetarian, or even more, what we call vegan. In this way, our Yoga in Daily Life around the world is developing very much, and day by day the practitioners are increasing. This means the time has come for people to return to their heart, and not to seek outside. To znamená, že přišel čas, kdy se lidé vracejí do svého srdce, nejdou tolik na venek. In ancient literature, among ancient teachers and practitioners—the yogīs and students—in old scriptures, in ancient times, teachers and all people were not eating and killing so many animals as they are doing now. And therefore, this Kali Yuga is coming. Now there are those things that in Satyugas are very pure qualities: no animal killing, no fish, no terrible things. And now, still, there are many, very, very many who love animals. So these are two different kinds of people: some only want to kill, eat, and do many things to animals; and others love the animals. When you love, it does not matter which kind of animal—maybe your house pet or on your farm. It does not matter if it is a cow, goat, deer, cat, or dog; it should not be harmed. This year, in his high consciousness, people said, "Now Kali Yuga is coming, and we should be aware now." Many parents insist that they must give meat to children, and many children do not want to eat it, yet they are pressed. At the same time, they give toys to children and keep them very nicely. So when these children grow up, they know that meat comes from animals, and they do not want to eat it because from childhood their parents gave them toys. In that way, Kali Yuga has come now, very strong. Therefore, we shall see that we go through humbleness, kindness, peace, and harmony. Of course, now is the beginning. There are more meat-eaters who say it does not matter, even if we kill; we die, but we will have to kill the animals and eat. That is what we know. Just now we saw in this film where things stand. In this year, we suffered and we suffered. And now still it is not finished, but this year is gone—only two weeks remain, and then we are in 2022. In that way, I always say first: please forgive me. I do not want to hurt anyone, but I ask you further; it is your choice. In ancient times also, and in all Satyugas, there were more fruits, cow's milk, or the milk of other animals we have—the goat, the cows, buffaloes, camels—this milk. So do not say that it is our culture and we must eat meat. No, that developed afterwards. Many ages ago, there were also humans, but they were less developed. At that time, maybe they were attacking some animals. But we are now the developed ones, the learned ones. We have learned very much; we have science. So now we are developed very high, but in a certain way we are not developed. At this time, Christmas is coming, and here we want to have Jesus, and there we want to follow the teachings, the words of Jesus. This next year, we should get more blessings from Jesus. But you know that the beginning is God, what we used to say is Śiva. And we do not understand who Śiva is. Śiva is around the whole world. Someone was in Turkey, and in Turkey there is one country, one village, very big, and there very ancient buildings come out. It is said a very, very long time ago, there came a Śiva temple, very big, from white stone, marble stones—a Śiva liṅgam, very big. So this God Śiva is not only in India; it was in the whole world, and it is in the world still. But many have forgotten. So, my dear ones, I am very happy to tell these words to the saṃsāra in this world, that we should take care. This is where all our yoga teachers are great and practicing very much concentration. Yoga is not only what we call practicing āsanas and jumping, kuddhi; it is like a spirit, or some kind of physical exercise. But the body is very important, and we should practice very much; we should do everything. But as a human heart, we should know where our soul is inside. And then we will see, we also go away. But how and where do we go? One day, Mahāprabhujī was there early in the morning, around Brahma time, a very good time. And at that time, Devapurījī gave his life off. When Devapurījī was giving his body off, immediately Mahāprabhujī knew where it was—about 300 kilometers away. Mahāprabhujī knows what is happening now, and when the soul is gone, the body is there, but that is our ātmā, our soul. That will go with us somewhere, and then we know who is where. Now, here we can say this is not good, but there you will see no. Then it is said that if you kill someone, you go out, and you go the other way, and they will kill you there. But people... they said no. Many times they said, "Yes, I'm sorry, and I will not do it," but within some days, again the same thing. And some bhaktas are great. It is not only that you are having some new dress or some temples, etc., but what we have inside. So Mahāprabhujī said, when Devapurījī was going back to the Brahmaloka, Mahāprabhujī was a little bit—not a little bit, but sad—because Devapurījī was Mahāprabhujī's Gurujī. They are connected, where? Through their inner power, mental power; it is through the water, you know, sky, mount, what? Through the clouds. We are talking through the clouds. Mahāprabhujī said, and Holy Gurujī was there: "O Satguru Dev, why are you separated? O Gurudev, my boat is in the middle of the ocean, and my boat is stuck there. I do not know, but you know everything. Please listen to my words to you. I am very weak. Karuṇā means we are very longing. And you, my Lord, you are great. They are low. You are merciful. Gurudev, all bhaktas, please, all bhaktas all around the world—it does not matter which religion—but those humble hearts of that, please control us so that we do good. Today, Guru Dev, I am calling you and calling you. Please listen to my words. Sunālijo, Alakha ava." Mahāprabhujī said to Alakpurījī and Devapurījī. Mahāprabhujī said to Devapurījī and Alakpurījī: "Swāmī Deepakī, yahī vinatī." Mahāprabhujī said that: "Swāmī Deepakī, sunālijo vinatī. Please listen to my words, or listen to me, please. Your voice, please listen to this." And so when the bhaktas, we all are coming and going, we should learn this bhajan by heart. My dear ones, I am telling you today something very painful for all of us. One of our friends, our yoga friend, spiritual friend, and disciple in our Yoga in Daily Life—I gave him Mantra Dīkṣā more than 40 years ago. And, you know, many of our Yoga in Daily Life and other people also, and all people in the country... yesterday afternoon he passed away. That was our dear brother, our friend, our yogī, and my disciple. That is Krishnanand in Hungary. He passed away. We will pray after we send the letter, because he was great and he was my heart. So, please, first of all, he is a Hungarian country person, and he is going to tell. Pocs, come close here. Yes. Mic on the front, in the mouth. "The love awakens the perfect self-realization. Krishnānand served the day as the sun for the day with this adoration. He worked so that the voice of the Master of Love could reach as many people as possible. As a man and as a father, he created the opportunity, on the side of his loving wife, that her children would choose the path of the open-hearted and always helpful spiritual people. We think with a grateful heart that such a beautiful world has been created for us. Please pray with us that it may reach the ultimate liberation and unite with the highest Self. Om, peace, peace, peace." This is a sad letter from Krishnānand's family, written by Amṛtānand, Ānand Prakāśpurī and Divyā Purī. "Dear friends, we let you know with a sad heart that on the 17th of December 2020, in the evening, Kovács Karol Péter Kriṣṇādant left this world. In his last days, his family took care of him so he could embark on the final journey of his life in peace and serenity. The perfect awakening of self-realization takes place through love. Krishnānand served Mahāprabhujī day by day with his devotion, and he worked hard to get the voice of his beloved master to reach as many people as possible. As a husband and father, on the side of his loving wife, he created the opportunity for his children to choose the path of open heart and always helpful spiritual people. We think with a grateful heart that He has created such a beautiful world for us. Please pray, pray with us, so he can achieve the ultimate liberation and unite with Paramātmā. Oṁ śāntiḥ śāntiḥ..." On behalf of Viśwagurujī and all our brothers and sisters of Yoga in Daily Life, we extend our deepest sympathies to Kṛṣṇānanda's family and wish them strength and Mahāprabhujī's protection during this difficult time. Krishnānandjī was Viśvagurujī's disciple from day one in Hungary for more than 40 years. Krishnanandjī was, so to say, the father of Yoga in Daily Life in Hungary. He invited Viśva Gurujī to Budapest and accompanied and introduced Swamijī and Yoga in Daily Life to all the major Hungarian cities when Viśva Gurujī came to Hungary the first time in May 1978. Through the tireless efforts of Krishnānandjī and his Hungarian bhaktas, Yoga in Daily Life was spread throughout Hungary. He was the president of the Yoga in Daily Life Center in Budapest, which was inaugurated during Hori Gurujī's visit in 1980 and has since been known as the Hungarian Guru Ashram. Krishnanand was also a well-known personality and a great support in Yoga in Daily Life internationally. From 2002 to 2004, he was the president of the International Fellowship. We are all grateful to Krishnanand, that through his initiative and caring organization, we have found a home in VEP, where we have been able to attend hundreds of beautiful and blessed seminars with Viśwa Gurujī for over 20 years. Krishnanandaji also played an important role in organizing international conferences in Hungary, the World Peace Summit in Szombathely in 2009 and the International World Peace Council Conference at the University in Győr in July 2019. We will always remember Krishnānandajī as a loving and always helpful guru-brother, a good friend, a careful organizer, a humble and wise man. In short, Krishnānandajī was a yogī, a bhakta, and a sevak. Vishwa Gurujī and Yoga in Daily Life was his life, but at the same time, he also was a loving and caring husband, family man, and grandfather. Krishnānandajī himself did not wear an orange dress, but for us he was like a swāmī. His qualities and his heart were colored in orange. May our dear brother Kṛṣṇānandajī find his eternal bliss and union with Mahāprabhujī in Gurudeva's realm. We will always miss him very much and will always think of him as a living part of our Yoga in Daily Life community. Gurudeva Kī Jaya. Thank you, my dear brothers and sisters. For Krishnananda, we shall close our eyes and we say to him the blessing of Mahāprabhujī, and I pray to Alak Purījī, Devapurījī, Mahāprabhujī, and Holy Gurujī, and all of you, that his ātmā should go to the supreme highest cosmic gods, Mahāprabhujī, in the whole universe. We pray for his soul. Anything that remains, happens with us, please forgive. And be with us forever in your cosmic light. And we bless him and his whole family, his wife, children, grandchildren. We are with them. Mahāprabhujī karta hī kevalam. Oṁ śāntiḥ śāntiḥ... hī Alakpurījī Mahādev kī jai. Devādhī Dev Deveśvar Mahādev kī jai. Ārādhy Bhagavān Śrī Dīp Nārāyaṇ Mahāprabhujī kī jai. Satguru Swāmī Madhavān jī Bhagavān kī jai. Satya Sanātana Dharma kī jai. Sab Ṛṣi Muni Mahātmā ho kī jai. Om Śānti. Śānti. Viśva Guru Mahāmaṇḍaleśvara Paramahaṁśrī Svāmī Maheśvarānandajī Guru Deva kī jaya. Om.
