Returning to Nature: A Call for Natural Living and Ayurvedic Wisdom

A spiritual discourse on returning to natural living and Ayurvedic wisdom, addressing environmental and health crises.

"Day by day, something very negative is emerging... This is Kali Yuga, and it is intensifying."

"We should return to nature... Beauty is our natural beauty. If we apply beauty products to our body, we are not embracing reality."

Swami Madhvanandaji addresses global issues like natural disasters, chemical pollution, and modern health problems, attributing them to a departure from natural living. He advocates for a return to Ayurveda and natural remedies, sharing specific practices like using neem and babool powder for dental health. He critiques modern science, genetically modified foods, and certain medical interventions like "egg banks," warning of societal and spiritual consequences. The talk includes personal experimentation with natural dental care and a call to embrace yoga and natural solutions.

Devadhī Dev Deveśvar Mahādeva kī Jai, Ārādhi Bhagavān Śrī Dīp Nārāyaṇ Mahāprabhujī kī Jai, Satguru Svāmī Madhvanājī Bhagavān kī Jai, Alak Purī Jī Mahādeva kī Jai, Satya Sanātana Dharma kī Jai. Good evening to all my dear sisters and brothers from Yoga in Daily Life, all ashrams, yoga teachers, other yoga centers, different ashrams, and all others working in the spiritual field. Day by day, something very negative is emerging. I am not speaking of a medical negative, but other things. For nearly five days, there have been earthquakes, which is also not good. Many things are happening in other worlds, in different realms. About two months ago, there was a very large fire in the forests of America. There have also been many water problems, and so on. This is Kali Yuga, and it is intensifying. Many of us do not contemplate this. Someone said, "It doesn't matter what it is, we will die anyhow." But that should not be our attitude. These chemical things have also destroyed a great deal on this earth. There are now significant problems with the honeybees; their numbers are slowly diminishing because of the chemicals used on farms, and so forth. Life in the water, the fish, has been affected by petrol, oil extraction, and leaks, causing the death of many creatures. Similarly, the beauty of our world—the beautiful flies, the many birds, all winged creatures—is being lost. Many people are killing animals and birds. The rainforests are also suffering. In this way, we are becoming very sad and contracting many diseases. We should return to nature. For that, we have many good people with many practices: playing football, running, and various other activities. Above all, we have yoga. There are different techniques for the body, for humans to be healthy, strong, and to have a long life. Many have very good nourishment without killing animals or fish. We have enough to eat, yet we are destroying. In so many ways, even for beauty, for ourselves, we are creating distractions for our body and skin. Beauty is our natural beauty. If we apply beauty products to our body, we are not embracing reality. Yes, there can be skin problems, for which we can use natural remedies. For example, in many countries there is a tree called neem. Seeds have been brought from the neem to Australia, and there are now many neem trees there as well. It is said that one can obtain a hundred different kinds of medicine from the neem tree. It is said to be the nīm, Nārāyaṇa. Narayan is God Vishnu. Narayan, Nīm Narayan. We can use it in many, many ways, as I said, a hundred. We should know how to use it. There are many other natural remedies. We must return to nature. Sometimes we cannot obtain something, and chemical alternatives arrive, along with many pests in the body, both natural and unnatural. Many claim things are natural, but there is a difference from animals or birds, like chickens or eggs. Eggs are not considered part of a natural diet in this context; it is the nature of the mother to feed the baby bird. For many such reasons, we are suffering greatly. The United Nations tries very hard. Many people hold conferences, submit proposals to the UN, and discuss various issues. The United Nations strives to do good things for our world—for all water, aquatic animals, flies, birds, and humans. The UN does great work, but often many people do not respect it. Now, because this is a world of science, we have learned many things, but mostly it is wrong. They attempt to create different things internally, from one tree to another, different trees and fruits. What they have done is such that one may only be able to have one or two children, and they are not healthy. This is a significant problem, and poor women suffer. Men suffer as well. I speak of humans, for example. So often, marriages break apart because either the man is not capable enough, or the woman is not capable, and they seek another person. This is not right. What percentage of marriages break up? They were friends, very good. They married, very happy. But why do they part? All these artificial things are not natural. I myself, as long as I was in India, used very natural things. When I came to Western countries, I initially thought, "Oh, this is the best and good," and so on. But our way of life is increasingly bringing disease—many diseases of the teeth, eyes, kidneys, heart, and more. Our dear farmers, the people living in villages, lived very naturally, but they have again been introduced to all these different chemical things. Fruits, seeds, and many things have been altered. These fruits cannot yield properly. There may be only one seed, and next time it will not produce grapes. Our real seeds from all over the world can be 100 years old. We plant them, and they sprout and grow. But other seeds now sprout yet yield nothing. We must return to what we call nature. Now, in India and across the whole world, people are turning towards natural things, towards Ayurveda. Ayur means life; it means to maintain a long life. Many people still live above 100 years because they live naturally. But it is like a disease throughout the whole world that changes the seeds, and the real seeds are no longer available. Also, when you go to the hospital sometimes, you see written "egg bank." For a long time, I wondered, "What is an egg bank?" Are they making eggs for eating, or what? The second time I went to the same office—in the Czech Republic, in the city called Brno—and the third time I was there, I asked someone. It was written very prominently. Then it was explained: human eggs. I said, a human egg is not a chicken's egg. Someone told me, "Swāmījī, you are not so advanced in technology." They said, "These are human eggs." So, what kind of human? Females do not lay eggs; this is the difference. What they are doing is trying to create men's eggs and couples, and the result will be completely different. You will not know who your real parents or father are. A couple may get a child, but inside they feel, "It's not my child." We know this. Afterwards, if something happens, they say, "Okay, we will check your blood, your genes. What is your gene?" They take the blood of the man, perhaps the mother. The wife or father's gene may not be present. They will do more, giving children far away, and you will not know who is husband, wife, brother, or father. It will lead to chaos. Then they will kill each other. That is all. We are human, and we have existed for ages, but now it is wrong. Let's say the natural seed is gone, but some good seeds still remain on our earth: good humans, good saints, spiritual people. Believe in this. I was thinking for a long time, and I observed something about our teeth. You know how often we go to the dentist. Yes, they do good work; they clean here and there. But we have to go again in a few weeks, months, or two years. It should be permanent. God has given teeth for a whole lifetime. You can see many people above 100 years—about 120, 115, or even more—and their teeth are completely intact, though old. Now, at about 20 years, not even 20, we go to the dentist. By 40 years, our teeth are completely gone. I am sorry. The science of dentistry is very good; I do not wish to say it is not good. I do not mean to say all doctors are the best, though I am certainly not the best. But I know my teeth can be better. When I came to Europe, I saw a toothbrush and toothpaste for the first time. Okay, good. Both are good. Now there are better and better toothbrush techniques. But the problem does not go away; our teeth diminish little by little. Then we have parts of teeth made from gold or silver placed in our body. Now I have them inside. I said, "Now it's good," and I have no more problems. But there is a problem: everyone has to keep going back, and it is very expensive. Many people experience bleeding from the gums at night or after eating. Ayurveda, nature, etc. We used to take earth from somewhere—our park, near rivers, or elsewhere. But now we cannot. Otherwise, we would take a little earth, mix it with water to make a paste, and brush with it. But now everything is chemicals. We used to take a twig from a tree, mostly from the neem or the babool. In some other countries, not from trees. We have a small dental twig, bite it a little, and clean with it. We did not need to extract teeth; it was very good. All these oils, powders, and instructions on how to brush. Okay, you can take some toothpaste. Take the toothpaste, perhaps mix it with some earth or powdered tree bark, dried. Take it in your mouth and use your index finger. For three days now, I have been experimenting again. You cannot believe how my gums and teeth have become very good again, better. Today I did it again. I said now I will tell you. You can call it Āyurveda, or nature, or our natural life. There is one thing in my hand called babool powder. It is a very powerful substance. The babool tree exists in many countries—Africa, India, and others. The fruits of this babool, for example, can help women with problems like bleeding that sometimes cannot be stopped. I have experimented, not on myself but with women. I have been conducting this research for about five years. Now, when the powder arrives from India, many of our people immediately say, "Please, I want it, I need it." They say it is very good. It comes from the tree's fruits. We can also put it in hot water for a while. I drink it as a tea, and the residue can be put in your vegetables; nothing is thrown away. Or we can make a powder. This is a powder, and here is one way to use it. Take half a cup of hot water, add half a teaspoon or two spoons of this powder. Put it in half a cup of hot water. We can put it inside like this, and this is the water inside to drink. It is a little bitter but tasteful. Take it twice, and 80% of the bleeding will be gone. In two, three, or four days, it is very good. This is also very good for our teeth. I have been using it myself. Today, if you could see my face... My finger is wet. Come close, closer, more, more, more. Come close, that's all? Okay, that is very good. There is nothing special, just my finger with water and this powder from the babool. You see this powder from the babool. Now, this is my chest. The teeth and gums feel so good. It is a massage inside, and of course, in the bathroom you can rinse and spit it out. It was very, very good. This neem paste, or this paste, is again good for our gums. If there is a problem, it helps. You see? Here, it comes back. Oh yes, you see. My God, you are still doing it; I am here. Yes. So tomorrow you should try it yourself, in the evening and morning. If you do not have this babool paste or neem paste, I have another method. The second is using our toothpaste. Take toothpaste on your finger—this side, that side. Take more paste, this side, that side, really, really. I am not a doctor, but I have been in the doctor's chair. My doctor was very nice, good, and happy. There is nothing to say against that. But it did not achieve what I wanted and what you want. So, take the paste. Take paste on your finger and brush only with that. You can use paste without a brush. But there is also an element of cleaning between teeth. We have a toothbrush for inner areas, between teeth, maybe with some kind of thread; otherwise, we can clean between them. Observe yourself in one week and tell me how you feel. When this feels good, in one month, tell me what your teeth are like. If you still have problems with your teeth, see in one month how they will be, and then consult your dentist. Your dentist is your one finger, and we will not give money to the other hand. Of course, there are many different issues in our mouth. For example, if we have severe pain, we must go to the doctor. Doctors are good, very good. There is nothing against that. But try this method I am describing, using toothpaste only for this part. There is one more thing: it was called Sona... no, not Sona Moki... Soda. I was talking about... okay, it will come to me. There is one vegetable, we call it brinjal or eggplant. In German, it is "die Aubergine." Take this vegetable, burn it completely in fire until it is ash. Take this ash and put it in a bottle or bowl. Use this ash to brush inside your mouth. When you have bleeding, pain, and such, it will be very good. Long ago, nearly 40 years, 35 years, and even now, some shops carry this. These are seeds from which they make milk. Not coconut, but seeds for eating, from Japan. When I came to America, you were in Vienna. At that time in Europe, macrobiotics was very popular. It was good, healthy, very thin, and there are still many people in Vienna. We have two or three shops that carry this beautiful food for them. They were giving these powders from that for brushing. That man from America said that if you have a problem with your teeth, use it. No more brushing, because not everyone brushes properly, and gums recede. Therefore, use this. If you do not like it, no problem. I am not a dentist, please, but I know what I have done for myself. At that time, I said, "No, good." I came from India and thought, "Oh, there's a good brush," and this and that. Everyone says to brush like this and like that, up and down, many techniques. So, take the powders—neem powder or other powders—or a good paste, and use them. Do not rush; take a few minutes. In the last three days, I feel very, very good. My teeth are very soft, very clean, and very good. So, my dears, this is something. Again, I say I am not a doctor, and I am not against doctors. I go to doctors. We need them for certain things, but this is something that will be very good for us. This is why today I was thinking whether to tell you through my Swāmījī TV. It reaches the whole world: how many Yoga in Daily Life centers, and many others in New Zealand, Fiji, Australia, Japan, China—in China we have four centers—Africa, everywhere. I am sitting here, but my voice is there. I know many people say what India says is also very good. So, my dear, I only wish to do what I can. If you do not like it, no problem. Practice exercises for children as well. Not a blessing, but make it this way, and they will be very happy. Our Yoga in Daily Life, around the whole world, is called Bārikhātu Prāṇāyāma. Barikhatu Prāṇāyāma—how beautiful it is. So please, now bring yoga into daily life, bārik hatu pranām. No, no... take it, drink. Hari Om Tat Sat, Hari Om Tat Sat... Hari Om Tat Sat. Wow, see that? It is balancing. Look, he can touch his knees with his nose. What are you watching, kids? Grandma, it is called gymnastics. Yes, Grandma, the bodies of these gymnasts are quite flexible, you see. All right, I would also like to watch. It is good, but the Yoga of India is better, I think. Wait, I will show you. Look at this. I think this is an ashram. This is not an ordinary ashram; this is Om Ashram. What is so special about this ashram? Om Ashram is the house of Bāḍī Khāṭū Praṇām Yog. Om Ashram was established by World Peace Ambassador Śrī Svāmī Maheśvarānand Jī. Mahāprabhujī is very popular and has traveled the whole world. He travels to every country and teaches Bādī Khāṭū Praṇām Yog. Do you also want to learn Bāḍī Khāṭū Praṇām Yog? Let's go. We will watch a video on the laptop about Badi Khatu Pranam Yog. Okay. Do you people like the Bāḍī Khāṭū Praṇām Yog of India? Very much, Grandma. Perform Bāḍī Khāṭū Praṇām Yoga until others do. About Badi Khatu Pranam Yoga. That's very good, Michael. Namaskar. Badī Khāṭū Praṇām. Yoga not only keeps your body healthy but is also able to give you spiritual peace and the attainment of the divine. This Badi Khatu Pranam Yoga is originated by Viśvaguru Mahāmaṇḍaleśwar Paramahaṁswāmī Maheśvarānandjī with the aid of Om Ashram.
