Singing mantras for Shiva

Tomorrow is Somavatī Amāvasyā, a Monday new moon of great auspiciousness. Prayer on this day to Guru and Śiva fulfills all desires. Holy days follow: Navratri for Śakti Pūjā and the Sanātana Pañcāṅga new year. Blessings of Gurudeva shower upon all brothers and sisters. Two stotras are sung: Śiva Tāṇḍava Stotram by Rāvaṇa and Śiva Rudrāṣṭakam by Bhagavān Śrī Rāma. Rāvaṇa was a great thinker and Śiva bhakta but followed bad ways. Through tapasyā he pleased Śiva and received a golden kingdom. Śrī Rāma sang with inner bhakti, and Śiva granted victory over Rāvaṇa. Our holy Gurudeva is Lord Śiva, bearing Śiva's name. A key śloka from Rudrāṣṭakam teaches that without knowing yoga, japa, or worship, a clean-hearted bhakta seeks only devotion and liberation at the guru's feet. The guru's greatness is infinite, beyond words in any language. Only bhakti can feel it. Many bhaktas worldwide sing bhajans and mantras. The new year according to Jyotiṣa is coming; Jyotiṣa is the third eye of Śiva. Tomorrow marks a good beginning; programs will be held in Kathu. Wishes extend for good luck, health, peace, harmony, understanding, and happiness.

"Na jānāmi yogam na japam na eva pūjām, na tohaṁ sadā sarvadā śambhu tubhyam, jarā janma duḥkha oḍa tāṭapya mānaṁ, prabho pāhi āpanna māsi śa śambhu."

"We are not able to explain the mahimā of Gurudeva because this is infinite; only we can feel, we can make only bhakti."

Śrī Dīp Nārāyaṇ Bhagavān Kī Jaya, Deveśvara Mahādeva Kī Jaya, Satguru Svāmī Śrī Madhavānandjī Purījī Gurudeva Kī Jaya, Śrī Śrī Ek Hazārāt Viśvaguru Mahāmaṇḍaleśvara, Paramahaṁsvāmī Śrī Maheśvarānandjī Purījī Gurudeva Kī Jaya, Jaṭāṭavī. Now, after prayer, we are sitting here near to our holy Gurudeva. It is our very, very good luck, and it is also the good result of last birth’s karma. Tomorrow is Somvatī Amāvasyā. If Amāvasyā comes on Monday, it is known as Somavatī Amāvasyā. It is a very, very good day if we pray to our Gurudeva and pray to Bhagavān Śiva. On this day, we can get each and everything. After Monday, very holy days are coming: Navratri, nine days for Śakti Pūjā, and the new year of Sanātana Pañcāṅga is also coming. So many, many blessings of Gurudeva to us, our brothers and sisters. Today, after tomorrow, after tomorrow. Yes. Now I am going to sing some mantras with my two lovely flowers. They are both very good followers of our Gurudeva, and our Gurudeva’s blessings are always with my children. Now I want to sing Śiva Rudrāṣṭakam and Śiva Tāṇḍava Stotram. Shiv Tandav Stotram and Shiv Rudrashtakam are both sung for the happiness of Lord Shiva, but in two different ways. Śiva Tāṇḍava Stotra was sung by Rāvaṇa. Ravana was a great thinker and a Śiva bhakta also, but he went on bad ways. So he was called a Rākṣasa. Yet he made tapasyā for happiness, for the pleasure of Lord Śiva. So he got his kingdom made of gold. Mahāprabhujī Karatā He Kevalam... Shiv Rudrashtakam, which was sung by Bhagavan Śrī Rām, Maryādā Puruṣottam Śrī Rām, the greatest personality of the universe in each and every time, he sings in a different way—through bhakti, through bhakti in the inner soul. Then Lord Śiva gave him the boon of victory over Rāvaṇa. So first I am singing Śiva Tāṇḍava Stotra, after Śiva Rudrāṣṭakam. Śrī Dīp Nārāyaṇ Bhagavān Kī Jai, Deveśvar Mahādev Kī Jai, Alakhpurī Jī Mahādev Kī Jai. Actually, our holy Gurudev is just Lord Śiva, and his name is also the name of Lord Śiva. And by the feeling of my heart, I call him Śiva Maheśvara. All our brothers and sisters should understand Lord Shiva in our holy tradition. Śrī Śrī Ekajāṛād Viśvaguru Mahāmaṇḍaleśwar Paramahaṁswāmī Śrī Māheśwarānandajī Purī Jī Guru Devakī Jai. This is a spiritual lecture about Yoga in the Indian tradition. Prapulla nīla paṅkaja prapañca kālimāprabhā valambikānta kandarī ruchi prapattha kandara kandara smarachchidam purachchidam bhavachchidam ākachchidam gajachchidam dhakachchidam tamantakachchidam bhaje Akhāṛā Sarva Maṅgala Kalaka Dambha. Mañjarī Rasa Pravāha Madhurī Vijṛmbhita Madhuvratam Smarāntakam Purāntakam Akhāṇḍakam Akhāṇḍakam Gajāntakāntakāntakam Tamāntakāntakam Vajra Jaya Dvādaśa Brahmabhṛṅga Brahmādbhujaṅgamāśraya Dīnārigamaṅkrama Sūrakarālabhālāhavyavad This is a Sūtra sung by Rāvaṇa, and other Sūtras sung by Bhagavān Śrī Rāma. I sing in Śivarudrāṣṭakam one most important śloka. This is very good for us. Na jānāmi yogam na japam na eva pūjām, na tohaṁ sadā sarvadā śambhu tubhyam, jarā janma duḥkha oḍa tāṭapya mānaṁ, prabho pāhi āpanna māsi śa śambhu. Hey Śambhu, Hey Sadāśiva, Hey Maheśvara, I don’t know what is yoga. I don’t know what is japa. I don’t know worship, but I am your bhakta in the way of a very clean heart. I only want your bhakti. I don’t want anything. I want only your bhakti and the rāj of your lotus feet. But please, my Gurudeva, please, my Maheśvara, I am not able to worship for you, but I am a clean-hearted bhakta. Please give me blessing, please give us support in that way. We don’t want next birth; we want Mukti, and you are my Muktidātā. You are only the means by which we can get liberation. There is no other way—only your bhakti. Please give me, give our brothers and sisters your bhakti, your blessing. Only these are my little words about Gurujī. Actually, the mahimā of our Gurudeva cannot be written in words, neither in Hindi, nor in English, nor in Sanskrit, nor in any other language. We are not able to—a human being has not the ability to explain the mahimā of Gurudeva because this is infinite. We cannot write this word; only we can feel, we can make only bhakti. These are my few words about Gurudeva. Śrī Śrī Dīp Nārāyaṇ Bhagavān Kī Jaya, Alakh Purījī Mahādeva Kī Jaya, Deveśvara Mahādeva Kī Jaya, Pūjya Pāṭa Ananta Śrī Vibhūṣita Parivrājaka Kāchāra Brahmaṇiṣa Chotarī Śrī Śrī Ek Hazādata Viśvaguru Mahāmaṇḍaleśvara Parama Svāmījī Maheśvarānandajī Purījī Mahārāja Kī Jaya. Our beautiful children, they are very nice. Like this also, our very bhaktas in other countries, they are also singing very nice bhajans and mantras. Thank you. Yes, very soon it is coming, the new year according to our India and Jyotiṣa, and Jyotiṣa is very far. It is said there are four Vedas, and one is the Vedas, and our new year is coming, which is very big, very nice. It is not only about worldly life and worldly time, but also about many stars, the moon, the sun, and more. Jyotish is called the third eye of Śiva. So the third eye of Bhagavān Śiva is the Jyotiṣ. So tomorrow is a very good day, beginning, and the day after tomorrow, they said, then there will be some more programs. I will be in Kathu tomorrow. Nice to see everybody there, and we will see here when I come back some lectures, and you can have bhajans and mantras around our world where you are. Thank you. Have a nice, good evening, and good night, good day—different countries, different times. All our yoga and life. We wish you all the best: good luck, good health, peace and harmony, understanding, and happiness. Hari Om. Dīp Nārāyaṇa Bhagavān Kī Jai.
