The Essence of Yoga and the Soul's Journey

A spiritual discourse on the essence of yoga and the soul's journey.

"Yoga is the science of humanity. And the yogīs, Śiva, Brahmā, Viṣṇu, Maheśvara—all have given this to us so that we may progress on this path."

"Everything, all is one in all and all in one. So, all live, and they don't know, and they have what they know."

An unnamed spiritual teacher delivers a talk on International Yoga Day, explaining yoga as a universal science for all beings, distinct from religion. He discusses the soul (Ātmā), using the metaphor of a water drop returning to the ocean to describe spiritual unity and liberation. The talk covers the global practice of yoga, the journey after death, and the importance of righteous living and good karma.

Aradhi Bhagwan Shri Swami Madhavananji Bhagwan Alagpuriji Mahadeva Ki. Satya Sanatan Dharma Ki. Today is a wonderful day, a very good day for me. For many years I was not present, yet for me, I was always there, everywhere. Yoga in Daily Life is throughout the whole world, and so Yoga in Daily Life was everywhere. Some were there early in the morning, some in the evening, and so on—from Vienna, and further from there, all of Europe, India, Africa, America, and so on. With this science, we can live our yoga day; we can do it every day, everywhere. I do not know how many people there are everywhere, how many devotees we have. I say to them that it is very nice that we hear your words and you give us something new every day. Today is a day, a yoga day. Yoga is the science of humanity. And the yogīs, Śiva, Brahmā, Viṣṇu, Maheśvara—all have given this to us so that we may progress on this path. Certainly, we will come to the Divine and then to the Brahmalokas. Yoga is not like a religion. Religion is a step behind. Religion is a beautiful, good thought to know and to set out on the path. But in the end, regardless of which religion, which country, from where, and also all beings live. There is only one day, and then one dies. Such beings also live, they have an Ātmā, a soul. All, regardless of whether they are humans, other animals, or other beings. When we leave our body, then we are all together. We also come through a passage, a gate. It does not matter who it is—humans, animals, birds, fish, and everything. Ātmā, soul, living being. All come through one passage. But they all come, while the other side goes back again. And those who truly listen to themselves, to their Ātmā, let all life live with love, and do not let everyone be killed or slaughtered. If one has slaughtered this being, if one has read this at some point, this is certain. When the soul departs from this body, it is exactly like any other. And everything of ours, no matter who it is—parents, father, mother, friends, brother, sister, and others—it is good for us, but from our path we will arrive there. The way is that we should see the way. And so it is that yoga does not only mean the body, but even more. But here, yoga and Yoga Day today, we say yoga is the science of the people. As the ṛṣis have done that, and today is the day, Yoga Day, and in the whole world, Yoga Day. And that means everyone comes onto the one path. Yoga is only one, but we have names for our name. So, for example, we have Yoga in Daily Life. Another name, a wonderful name, is always the yoga Śivānanda. Others say something else. This name is, forgive me, because it is our path, our way. And so we should not speak only about yoga and nothing else. Then they know that nothing is yoga. For example, in a village or in a big city, a woman gives birth to children, and everyone is happy. Look, a beautiful little child is born, a beautiful mother. But the next day, on the streets and so on, a mother has also come, among other things. And that's nice. A mother is so happy and beautiful, and everything is very nice about her child. And the name. The other one gives the children and says their name, and so on. So these are two names, but born is one. And so when we come, the children come to kindergarten—how many children? And everyone has his name, and they know that my mother, my father, and so on. But we are happy together. We move on. And now we have grown up. We have become old. Always, our names. And everyone is a man. Everyone is a boy or a girl. And so it is that at the moment, people have said, "Only this yoga and nothing else." And so, they have negativity. They know that nothing. And many people say, "I will come to India, and I will tell all the people who practice yoga and so on," yes. And so, they say, only this name. And no one should practice yoga with these 30 or some words or something. About diligence not, alcohol nothing, and what else was one, the third. This means, unfortunately from India, they have taken yoga in another direction. But as far as I know, in all other countries—Austria, Germany, and so on—they are very much on the way, on the yoga way. Some may eat and so on, but mostly all yogīs, they come on the way, eat well, meditate, and so on. And so it is said, regardless of which country, which religion, and so on. But on this one path, we all come—all people and the other animals too. One dies, the soul comes, and where does it go? And it wants to know nothing. For example, the ocean. We see the ocean is very large. And we know water is also very heavy. But from the ocean, the mother or father, I don't know how to say, it all comes up. And so in the heaven, it is like a whole ocean, but everywhere. And a drop comes on our hand. Oh, it's water. Now, a drop from the ocean, or from the, how do you say that? Clouds. A small drop. And we take this small drop in our hand, and we are near the ocean. We come there. That is only a small one. And there is an ocean, and a drop falls in the ocean. So, then no more drops there. It is a whole ocean. And so, everything, everything, all is one in all and all in one. So, all live, and they don't know, and they have what they know. But people have knowledge, good and not good. And so it is that yoga also means that we become our body and we are in our body. But what we have done through this body, we have done. And then this soul from here goes out. We thought, felt, so and so, that everything comes with. And that is what it means, says, we go there, please, in the direction or in that direction. So yoga, yoga is healthy for the body, for all good things. But the end is that we have come in the human body. If we have done nothing, then it is said, I do not know. We will come once again as a human, or we must not come to the other side. This water above in the clouds, how will it come back to where we let it fall? The good fortune is that it goes back into the ocean again, or into the other, what do you say, only sand, only sand, desert. And it soaks into it. When and where and how will it come back to the ocean? It will come once, but when, one does not know. And so, in the reading time, our yogīs and our, in India, he said and brought all yogīs together for yoga. And then Modi, he said, and it was as if a light came in, and really many, many people practice yoga. But some have other religions that say, "No, we don't want to do this and that, but we want to practice." Yes, practice. One says our name, our name, and so it should be. And that is that yoga is for health, for our thoughts, for everything we say. And then comes our Ātmā, our soul, to the Brahma-Paramātmā. And Brahmapramātmā means the skin. How do you say it? Yes, so when you come, all lives die, people too, and they come and say, "I don't want to go anywhere, I want to come to heaven, only to heaven." Yes, they are happy, they are with everyone, and so on. Others fall back in, back, as the water drips and rains. So, of course, I didn't see, but I felt, and many, many yogīs spoke to us, told us, and so, my dear, be, be, wake up, and now, in this time, minute, start, that I will, all my karmas, with whom, what I have done, I have. And so it was, I have said more times, the Corona. And the Corona was this for all people, only the people. The animals were nothing, only the people. And how terrible it was. Some have said, stay there and so on. So, that means, it has said, please do something good. But they stayed in one place or stayed at home, but one does not know what they have done, karmas. So far it will come. So, there are naturally many, many millions who are good yogīs or spiritual or religious, or whatever, it doesn't matter how, but they feel all life. You have a cat. Your cat gives love. Very good. But in others, that's it. Then what is that? And the dog, wonderful dog. But we do everything: medicine, go to the doctor, and so on. But why? Others will give. That's it. So I do not say only one thing, where does our inner feeling in our heart come from. So, yoga for me is: be healthy, be happy, do all good things and continue to live happily, practice. So, my dear, today is a beautiful day, and it will come, more and more good will come. And the right yogīs, yoga, in the whole world, they practice and do a yoga day. Just like the other Diwali, Guru Pūrṇimā, Christmas, and so on and so forth. Yes, that is wonderfully right. But there, what can you do? Everywhere there are beautiful days, and we should go on the right day.
