The Essence of Yoga and the Soul's Journey

Yoga is the science of humanity and the soul. It is a universal path, not confined to the body. All beings possess an Ātmā, a living essence that unites us when we leave the physical form. True listening to this inner soul reveals the way. Yoga is celebrated worldwide, yet it is not an exclusive practice; focusing solely on one name or form creates negativity. The essence is unity, illustrated by a drop returning to the ocean, becoming one with the whole. The practice leads to health and clarity, preparing the soul to merge with the supreme. Ultimately, yoga is about living healthily and happily, performing good actions while recognizing the oneness within all diversity.

"Yoga is the science of the people."

"Everything, all is one in all and all in one."

With this science, we can live our yoga day; we can do it every day, everywhere. I do not know how many people there are everywhere, how many devotees we have. I say to them that it is very nice that we hear your words and you give us something new every day. Today is a day, a yoga day. Yoga is the science of humanity. And the yogīs: Śiva, Brahmā, Viṣṇu, Maheśvara. But in the end, regardless of which religion, such beings also live, they have an Ātmā, a soul. When we leave our body, then we are all together: Ātmā, soul, the living essence. And those who truly listen to themselves, to their own Ātmā, find the way. The way is that we should see the path. And so it is that yoga does not only mean the body, but even more. But here, on this yoga and Yoga Day today, we say yoga is the science of the people. As the ṛṣis have done, and today is the day, Yoga Day, celebrated in the whole world. Another name, a wonderful name, is always Yoga Śivānanda. Others say something else. This name is ours, because it is our path, our way. And so we should not speak only of yoga and nothing else. Then they would think that nothing is yoga. For example, in a village or in a big city, a woman gives birth to children, and everyone is happy. Look, a beautiful little child is born to a beautiful mother. But the next day, on the streets and so on, another mother has also come, among others. And that’s nice. A mother is so happy and beautiful, and everything is very nice about her child. And she gives the child a name. The other one gives her children names, and so on. So these are two names, but only one being is born. And so when the children come to kindergarten, how many children are there? Everyone has his name, and they know their mother, their father, and so on. But we are happy together. We move on. And now we have grown up. We have become old. Always, our names remain. And everyone is a human. Everyone is a boy or a girl. And so it is that at the moment, people have said, "Only this yoga and nothing else." And so, they have negativity. They think that is all. And many people say, "I will come to India, and I will tell all the people who practice yoga and so on," yes. And so, they say, only this name. But as far as I know, in all other countries—Austria, Germany and so on—they are very much on the way, on the yoga path. Some may eat and so on, but mostly all yogīs, they come on the way, eat well, meditate, and so on. And we know, water is also very, very heavy. But from the ocean, the mother or father—I don’t know how to say—it all comes up. And so in the heaven, it is like a whole ocean, but everywhere. And a drop falls on our hand. Oh, it’s water. Now, a drop from the ocean, or from the, how do you say that? Clouds. A small drop. And we take this small drop in our hand, and we are near the ocean. We come there. That is only a small one. And there is an ocean, and a drop falls into the ocean. So, then there is no more drop there. It is a whole ocean. And so, everything, everything, all is one in all and all in one. So, all live, and they don’t know, and they have what they know. But people have knowledge, good and not good. And so it is that yoga also means that we become our body and we are in our body. But what we have done through this body, we have done. And then this soul from here goes out. We thought, felt, so and so, that everything comes with us. And that is what it means, it says, we go there, please, in this direction or in that direction. So yoga, yoga is healthy for the body, for all good things. But the end is that we have come in the human body. When and where and how will he come back to the ocean? And so, in recent times, our yogīs in India said and brought all yogīs together for yoga. And then Modi, he said, and it was as if a light came in, and really many, many people practice yoga. But some have other religions that say, "No, we don’t want to do this and that, but we want to practice." Yes, practice. One says our name, our name, and so it should be. And that is that yoga is for health, for our thoughts, for everything we say. And then comes our Ātmā, our soul, to the Brahma-Paramātmā. And Brahmaparamātmā means the skin. How do you say it? Yes, so when you come, all lives die, people too, and they come and say, "I don’t want to go anywhere, I want to come to heaven, only to heaven." Yes, they are happy, they are with everyone, and so on. Others fall back in, back, as the water drips and rains. So, of course, I didn’t see, but I felt, and many, many yogīs spoke to us, told us, and so, my dear, be, be, wake up, and now, in this time, this minute, start, so that I will, all my karmas, with whom, what I have done, I have. They come. So, there are naturally many, many millions who are good yogīs or spiritual or religious, or whatever, it doesn’t matter how, but they feel all life. You have a cat. Your cat gives love. Very good. But in others, that’s it. Then what is that? And the dog, wonderful dog. But we do everything: medicine, go to the doctor, and so on. But why? Others will give. That’s it. So I say: yoga for me is, be healthy, be happy, do all good things and continue to live happily, practice. And the right yogīs, yoga, in the whole world, they practice and do a yoga day. Just like the other Diwali, Guru Pūrṇimā, Christmas, and so on and so forth. Yes, that is wonderfully right. But there, what can you do? Everywhere there are beautiful days, and we should go on the right day.
