The Path of Sarvahita: Yoga, Health, and Resilience

A satsang on Sarvahita Yoga, health, and resilience during the pandemic.

"Those who did not practice properly may have gotten a little sick. Everyone stayed healthy because so many did not consume meat, alcohol, eggs, and so on, and we practiced."

"Sarvahitāsana is for everyone—a very old person lying in bed can also practice some of these services, and slowly, slowly, they will come back healthy again."

Swami Ji addresses the community, reflecting on the past year of the pandemic and advocating for the healing power of Sarvahita Yoga, a system he developed for all ages and abilities. He shares personal testimonies of recovery from health issues, explains the meaning of sarva (all) and hita (good), and emphasizes integrating yoga into daily life. The talk also touches on diet, the dangers of chemicals, and includes a listener's gratitude for specific breathing techniques like Brahmari.

Om Śrī Śānti, Śānti... Om Śrī Alagapurujī, Devādhī Deva, Devapurījī, Harade Bhagavān Śrī Dīp Nārāyaṇa Mahāprabhujī, Harade Bhagavān Śrī Mādhavānandajī Bhagavān. Satya Sanātana Dharma. Good evening. Today we are in our āśrama. We came together nearly one year ago when the event concerning Corona happened. It was not in one place, but throughout the whole world—even in some little, remote islands across the oceans. There were many different things to know. In the very beginning, they said there were some night birds—what we call night animals—and people were catching them, frying them alive over fire, and also eating them. It is said that from there, some kind of illness came, and it has spread throughout the whole world. Such is the way of this ghost; it is very easy. Many times, it has been about cows, chickens, other animals, and humans. How does this smell go? For example, many of you here wear just a little bit of perfume every day—somewhere behind the ear or somewhere else. Not even a whole drop, but it is still a lot. I was here for four, five, six, or seven months. For four, five, six months I was in Styria, and also in other countries for our yoga. Everyone stayed healthy because so many did not consume meat, alcohol, eggs, and so on, and we practiced. Those who did not practice properly may have gotten a little sick. I also fasted for almost two years. I did not know that I would come, but with a lot of food, it was different—food and movement. Bewegung also means exercise, even going into the water, the ocean or such, or walking in the forest, or seeing exercises somewhere. But the best was and is Sarvahitāsana. And Sarvahitāsana is for everyone—a very old person lying in bed can also practice some of these services, and slowly, slowly, they will come back healthy again. I practiced this for so many months. A lot, a lot—everything in my body came back healthy. There were two things the doctor said might not come back: one was more with the heart, and one was sweetness, sugar. And so it is always my best friend, day and night with me. Everything has become so good in the body because I exercised more often. One man might do it once or twice and then go back again, and so on. It does not matter if we are very old or young. I believe we can. I am also always high—how do you say it? Not so old. I am, how do you say it? Young. Yes, I have become young with Sarvahitāsana. And then I said, "Why?" He said, "Yes, you got everything back." I already know that my brothers, my others, they died at a certain time. But I think this sugar will not last so long, but with the exercises and also with this very, very good service cup... I only thought once, for example, about all the nerves of the body—the whole body's nerve systems. We have 98 million nerves or something in the body. God has made every nerve everywhere, and they know their way, where to go. Often, people say, "Look, press our foot here," and say, "Everything is okay here." The yogī Rāmdev took me and sat me in his room, gave me something to eat like nuts, and said, "I'll do it on your feet." I said, "Okay." He was so strong; it still hurts to this day. When he was here too, then my first finger became like this. Okay, he meant well. So, for example, a small finger can move; others are okay. All. One, two. So, all. And then others—you all know a lot, in Europe, in Australia, and so on, here in Austria. Everyone always brings children to a game to sing something. What is that there? So, one day I was somewhere by the water, sitting there with my hands in the water, and then I carried them like this. We all know, we have all done it. Each finger—how many nerves are there? And which nerves go in which direction? In this direction, or that direction, or there, or this, and so on. And it goes from the fingers to our head, to our knees, under our ears—something like that. I thought about it; I'll hold it like this. And we always did yoga, and we still do it. One, two, and so on. Well, everything. And me too, but I said, what would be better? So, I do this and that. So one day I sat straight, also standing, or sitting in a chair. I lay down, and people sit on the chair, and so: thumb in and make a fist. And hold it long. Everybody, sit in the sessile. Straight, take it please, hold firmly and release. Once also strong, what we feel. Now we feel blood, blood... circulating, circulating, but not only in our palms—everywhere, completely—and it also comes to the heart, to the head. Because through the chain, and it comes through this part of our body, we are coming there. And that, I said, is very good. And so is this. We all hold it one time. And one. And exhale. Inhale. Exhale. And further. And then we have gone here. So that's how we all got into the book—our yoga book. These are all the books. Often we talked, and I always speak about Rādhā, because Rādhā can say everything to you, and she will say, "Okay." And so when she was in the office and worked with her hands, she said, "I played so much, and then my hand was a bit like this." And then we practiced it so that it held the whole nervous system, so it was light, very light. And so, for me, it was two hours, or slowly two and a half hours, for the whole body, very easy. And many, many have become healthy because it was always my feet, my legs that got hurt, and always so—and now it's nothing. And in Jodhpur, Dr. Goyal... every time when I come to Vienna, I say I take everything from the blood and everything, and they say, "Yes, that's the way it is, and blood is this and that and that." And Dr. Goyal said, "Swāmījī, you have nothing but two: sugar and heart." But it's not a problem now. And there is a doctor here in Austria who said, "When Swāmījī goes so far as it goes, then you have to do another Abriss." So, our exercises from the beginning served a specific purpose. I was in Czechoslovakia; there was a communist there, and an Indian there for two or three years practiced or practiced something. We were sitting there, and we said, "But how can we make our own, this first yoga system?" Because there was no religion, this, that, everything. And so he was sitting there, and I have said that Sarvahitāsana—and sarva means all, for all, young or old. All. Sarva, all, or it means the whole body with different kinds of muscles and nerves, and everything—the whole body, everything of the body. Sarva-hita for all, or our whole bodies. Sarva-hita, and hita means for our health, our good, our good for everything: for our body, our mind, our concentration, etc. So Sarvahita Yoga, Sarvahitāsana—all the exercises we do are Sarvahitāsana. And so we take yoga, all our yoga, into daily life. There we took the name. So Sarvahitāsana, but of course you have to practice. When we think, "Now I am healthy, I don't need anything," no, no—don't give up. We give up on the day when we die, and so comes the prāṇa, prāṇa, oxygen. And oxygen is still with us, but still there is something. In our body, there is not only our soul. We are not only our life, our ātmā, our body, soul, but everything; each and every drop of the blood and everything. There are other lives, living life also. And for those who cannot exercise too much—eating and sitting and body making—then the whole body will come down more, will die. But when we practice, the best cells in our body remain always, again and again. And so we need the whole body, really, and that is Sarvahitāsana. I saw it two years ago, or one and a half years ago: somewhere, one step to the other step with both hands, and then one foot, and then the other, this and that. And now, not. I have something else with my foot, that's why I can't walk long. For Sarvahitāsana, we take at least one hour, and then you can do your other things. And the young people or the old people who have always practiced—why don't we do something else? Why not? So that's why yoga is the best. And people say, Alagapurujī said, it doesn't cost any money. Any money? You can practice your body. And so it is for us, for ourselves. I really learned a lot, I saw a lot again, and I have a lot of books. In this Corona time, I thought maybe, and many people said, "Swāmī, you are not so healthy," or so, but I said, "Sarvahitāsana is mine, it won't happen." And really, really... it didn't happen at all. But, of course, you have to be careful. You must be very careful. That's one thing. And secondly, the science—and the human science is so wide. They have done a lot. So we say in yoga, in books, a yogī or a ṛṣi can speak—at least a student, so that only that ṛṣi can go. Otherwise, nobody can hear anything. And now we have everything. So, I often told him that when I did a Swāmījī television program, really, I was there and you were here, and you saw. Maybe you saw the picture too. You saw me too. And also in China, the yogīs there, and also in America, in Mexico—so everywhere. And also the people who come from Slovenia, Croatia, and come from the ocean, these ships—many, many ships. And they are in the ocean somewhere, but they hear Swāmījī's television. So this is the science. Also, this is what the people have done. It is impossible—flies, this, this, this. So this is also a yoga in the brain, in everything. And other yoga is also okay. So, someone asked me, "Where is God? With whom should we practice yoga? With God or with this?" And I said, "Yes, two good things." One, God is a living being, and we all continue to do this, and we continue to go very high. But the second is the yogic; they have not even learned, but internally. And that is more than the divine or the mokṣa. This mokṣa is now a professor, and the sentence is very nice, good, everything, but when it dies, everything is white, nothing. But it is said that it is the inner. And the others we took from the outside, from our head, everything, but it is only in the outer worlds. That is the difference, so we practice both. We all do Haṭha Yoga, and we should go on, and we have to see. And now, other things are unfortunately not good. These chemicals—that is bad. One side is good, the other side is also not good. And so now we come back to eating, for example, healthy. So these chemicals, what have they done? They will kill us. It will kill us. It will come. We want more and more and more. All the time, everyone has enough food and everything enough. And always there have been mosquitoes. But we take on making more and more. And there it is poured and there it is poured and that is poured and that is poured. And so it really is; one sees from the deep water, in other countries like in India, for example. It is five meters, very deep—stone, rock, and this, and rocks, and this, and that. And there is a little water, but it is with chemicals. All the best water we can get now from the ocean, when it comes up in the clouds and when it comes. But there, too, there are so many airplanes, or here in the city. But the other thing is that the water is still very, very good. Very, very good. So these are our service cups. We all have them in our books. We know. At least one hour, or if not one hour, then take three quarters of an hour. So we can do this. Immigration is very, very important. Yoga is the best. I couldn't get my knee to my knee; I couldn't, but now I can. But many others can't do anything, and it's because I can't run up and do this and that. Many exercises don't work. But many who practice, who practice for many years—every day they are very busy. So we come back to the real yoga exercises. But during the exercises, mantras—the second Hoṣa Mantra mentally. So, twice. Third, when we practice in our body and our meditation—meditation means that we have this energy within us. We are with ourselves, and that's how we always do it in meditation. When the sun rises, we do this and that. That's how we try to forget everything, but that's nothing. We should come to ourselves. And so I practiced, and in many, many countries, everywhere—telephones and that—we also telephoned, right? Or I saw Swāmījī on television, this and that. So I was with you always, and I was not with you. So that is that. I was one with you, and I was not with you. With me, and not with me. And the world within. So in this Corona, we have seen we cannot all come and sit here. But all of you at home have practiced. I don't think that we should practice; we cannot be in the classroom. We don't have anyone to practice. I know the teacher who can teach, but we were doing, and that was very, very, very good for us. Yes, I thought about you. Really, it's not like that. Here in the ashram, there in the ashram, there... in the ashram. Only doctors, and nobody else. So we don't know how they did it, or how they slept, or how it is. But unfortunately, it is our Christians. Now they have gone, and all of us have said we are doing a web yoga exercise, a whole seminar, one or two seminars. But I still believe Corona is not like that. So, in many lands, in the religion of Vatsakarman, you are with the government. With the government, you are working. They are giving you money and this. But the other law, for those who have only companies and such, was closed, locked down, with no money. And so, unfortunately, many still have nothing. People have thought so much, have gold, money—not gold, money, yes. And we go there, and we take this, and we take that. At home we had little money, and now for almost a year. Many do not know how to live. So is the problem in many countries, everywhere. In Austria, they gave something to people, but not so much. They gave something to eat, or this or that, so that was nothing. That is life. But our yoga exercises and our yoga friends, and everyone is always friends with friends, and we all did well. And thank God, not so many died. Especially those who had good food, they didn't die. And of course, the exercise, whatever it is. And whenever they came, they said, "Don't do this and that." Then they came, but they became a whole family. But God said, "Don't die." But they did feel it. There will be another one, but we always pray. I always say, please don't say third, second is enough. But who knows? Did you have something to say? Anyone say? Hello? Please speak. No? Listener: I just wanted to thank you for these great exercises that you gave us, especially these Brahmārī techniques. Yes, Brahmārī. Very, very good. Very, very useful. Great help for me, and I think for all of us, very, very important. And yes, as I said, the Brahmārī techniques are so wonderful, so helpful, and so effective, and connected with the singing. And you can't find that in any book or in any other yoga school. It's simply your knowledge, your research, what comes from our guru line through you, and it's unique. Thank you very much. I just wanted to say that again. The Brahmārī morning. Tomorrow will be again evening, yes? So we will have the techniques in two or three months. It was good. Swāmījī: With the Brahmārī, it was special. The Brahmārī, we were brought to the navel. And the Vajranāḍī, the Vajranāḍī is there. Now, I have to say that it helped us so much with the Brahmārī and with the singing of Oṁ and so on. We had Zoom sessions with you, and at the same time, the emergency doctor rang for us because Sāgarapurī was so sick. And everyone else laughed, and we were happy, and we were afraid to live in Zagreb. And thank you. One man has cancer near the navel, and we know that it is very, very bad, and it is almost impossible to live. But I gave him five things. And this, and this... how do you say, all the, all the... We have seen in my house this all over, all over. And I told him that five times a day, the juice from this, from the apple. And then there was the Vajranāḍī, and then the Brahmārī, and then with one hand over the navel only, and hand on the navel, and not strong, but just lying there, and breathing. And the fifth was the mantra from the navel to the top. You can't do it like we both do, but he can't hold his breath for so long. But it works. He felt very good, but of course the medicine is also very important. The doctors also said that it is great for you, because you are great. It will be good, thank God. That's what the people said. And they won, and he is the same Swāmī. He was at Kumbh Melā with us, from Jodhpur. And now there is one more; he is also a doctor, and I gave him a lot.
