The Path of the Pilot: Mastering the Inner Aeroplane

A spiritual discourse using the metaphor of a pilot to discuss self-mastery and inner power.

"The pilot knows what is happening, yet he remains peaceful. When they all land in the same place, they are happy again."

"Therefore, how we are sitting here is not possible; it is not easy. Power, inner power."

The lecturer leads a satsang, explaining that the individual is the pilot of the body's "aeroplane." He discusses the need to control the mind and nervous system (Vajranāḍī), shares stories about disciples undergoing surgery without anesthesia through yogic focus, and describes witnessing fire-walking rituals to illustrate the power of mantra and sādhanā.

Hari Om, once more. Our day went very well. We had everything: relaxation, satsaṅg, prayers, and various exercises. Yet, we still have a long way to go to reach where we should be. I, too, am on the path, which is Gurujī’s path. Gurudev has said, "Remain on the path." For example, consider one pilot and the many people in an aeroplane. There are many different people from other countries, speaking different languages. Who wants to eat what? Some want one thing, then suddenly they don’t like it. They complain: "This is not good, the water is not good." But the pilot takes off the aeroplane. He is the one who must bring all passengers comfortably to land in another country. The pilot knows what is happening, yet he remains peaceful. When they all land in the same place, they are happy again. Similarly, our body is an aeroplane. There are many things in it: physical, mental, spiritual, etc. The pilot is situated between our eyebrows. From there, concentration goes directly to the Sahasrāra Chakra. We know that when a pilot is learning, one day they tell him, "Now take off alone yourself, with no people, nothing—only you." At that time, his whole nervous system, all his thinking... at least he had a co-pilot, but now he is alone. After that, they put him in a simulator. Yes, he cannot see anything there, but like a telephone, everything is there on the panel. That plane must land exactly on time, within about one meter of precision. Then they say, "Yes, this is a perfect pilot." Now, we are all here, from the toes and the nails of the toes, through the whole body, even to the hair. You know, we sometimes say when something shocking happens, "the hair stands on end." Then we are not perfect pilots. So, we are all very great yogīs here. We have all learned much yoga. We have so many guru-paramparās. But I cannot name anybody; you should know yourself. Will you take care? Will you take off alone yourself? Also, sometimes the pilot needs to use the toilet. Yes? So we have to learn this: how many systems are in our body and heart? It is like this. Sometimes it is very hard, sometimes it is like nothing. Sometimes our heart is in different situations. So we are human. We come from our mother's body, and now we are here. Are we that? What is the human? I am controlled. Are we controlling ourselves? If we have no control over ourselves, then how will we go further to the cosmic? I am only speaking from my feelings. When I speak to myself, I am not talking about anybody; you are greater and stronger than me. Suddenly, something happens. Let's say a tiger comes. "Will you come, Swāmījī? Swāmījī, come here?" No, we all run somewhere. Or a snake appears. So there are many things, and we are very much "out"—out of our body. So, learn to be strong. Yesterday's lecture, or the day before yesterday's, was about that path. We do meditation now, exercising, āsana, prāṇāyāma, and it continues until 11 o'clock. And how many are the 11 points of the kuṇḍalinī? So, we bring all this part, all these points there... We want to say that we want to practice the chakras, how to make the chakras active. There are some symbols, and the symbols have chakras. Yes, very good. Many things are written. Now we want to do it. I have been through these cakras and the power of the cakras, but we cannot bring that power of all cakras into our mental power. Every chakra is very good, but we cannot control them. Why are these old chakras along the spinal column? Because that is the most powerful, the Vajranāḍī. The Vajranāḍī, if it is not controlled, doesn't matter what else you do—it is nothing. Consider a tree, a very beautiful tree with a very thick trunk. Everything may fall, all leaves will fall when the wind comes, but the roots inside are the power, which is like the spinal column. The Vajranāḍī is our whole nervous system and our whole prāṇas in different centers. Many times it is sleeping, and when we go to sleep, we are gone. Yes? Very deep sleep. Then we don't know what we are talking about now, or this and that. If you were still thinking about this program and other nice things, you would not be in sleep. It's like a doctor sitting here; we know how it is. The doctor will say, "Only one little injection." Within one minute, half a minute, or two minutes, we would be completely in Brahmaloka. Many of you have had this experience. You have had experiences? Please, hand up. You don't know. Yeah, because she still has to do techniques. She can do, but not she. Hang on. I was in some other country, east there, and there was something... a little something. I was very powerful, very powerful... very powerful, very powerful. And they gave another injection, just like a sleeping one. They said, "Okay, we give you the injection, and Swāmījī, it will be okay," and I said, "Yes." I was in deep sleep, and I was talking inside, "Yes, doctor, it was good." Yes, I am truth. Maybe you have also experienced this. They can open the stomach also, or this. We don't know anything; we said yes. That is also a science—a good science. Also in India, there was that yogic... and this many day, what was this one? So they could even open the head—not a baba, no, no. They have said the instruments they had... our hair, they can part it in two. Yes, we have this in the books and everything. I don't know how it is, but I will show you, give you. It is written now, even. But how did they do it? Some kind of... what do you call this? Some trees or something, yes? And from that, now we brought it here to Siddhartha. So I experienced. I slept, then it was two, three times, because the doctor said, "Okay, we will only need help, and no problem." I said, no, no... let me sleep and then do. It means Jīva. The jīvā is feeling so much. It's feeling very much. It's only that soul, Jīva. And Jīva is like this. Coming to the heart, and the heart is beating more. Then we can say, "Yes, I am perfect," or not. You know that our Mahāprabhujī had issues with the eyes and had to have an operation. So they taught that if they give some... And Mahāprabhujī said, "No, no, don't give me, no need to." How long will we need? So they said about ten minutes. Compression in the eye of Mahāprabhujī. This is... even the picture is there from Mahāprabhujī. This is Holī Gurujī, and this, all that. And Holī Gurujī brought Mahāprabhujī for this eye injection. So Mahāprabhujī said, "Okay, go ahead." And their hand was like this, the doctor's even, you know. Mahāprabhujī said once more, "You are afraid. The one who should be afraid is me, so go ahead." Just four months, or four days, or minutes, or times... and it took about forty minutes' time. Afterward, when they said everything was good, then Gurujī said, "Okay, okay, all is good." He said, "Yes, Mahāprabhujī." But Mahāprabhujī said, "It was only 14 minutes, but it took so long." They said, "Gurujī, it took time, then why did you not tell me before?" But Mahāprabhujī did not feel any pain or movement or anything, no. He was relaxed. And for one second, another person I know—and it was our disciple in Hungary, Krishnānanda—when he had some little operation, little things... and also, at the dentist, they took out this and that. Only Krishnānanda, he said, "Okay, no problem, do it, go ahead." Yes, that was our Kṛṣṇānanda. So Jīva, when the soul is gone out, then we can cut anything, or when the doctor gives some injections, then that is like this. Therefore, how we are sitting here is not possible; it is not easy. Power, inner power. And if there is something, we are playing like we are children. Sometimes children play very well, and sometimes they are crying, and this and that. So, kuṇḍalinī śakti. Kuṇḍalinī Śakti we have to bring up. Otherwise, that goes down; the feeling goes down. Then the other part is like gone. Like a very big cobra: when he bites there, it's only there, not in his other body. So the brain, inside, and the ātmā, they also have a heart. Look, for example, a big, long, long... like a cobra. Another one, what is big? What is that? No, no, python, yeah? It can be that long—two and a half times a human's body—and so thick. And they can swallow a human very quickly. He just turns, and with his body, all our bones are gone. And he swallows it. But such a big snake, very strong and thick, has only a little head. And this head is pulling the whole body of the snake. Tato malá hlava ťahá za sebou celé obrovské tělo hada. The whole elephant has only one [control] in the brain there, and it is moving everywhere. So, whatever is the upper and lower part of our body—very good, healthy, peaceful—but also, the injection or the point is from the brain, here. From there, it comes to the toes, the knees, anywhere. So, how to control this? It's not so easy for us, please. There are some people who sit in the fire. Just now, again, I saw it on some telephone: he makes a fire, he is making some mantras, and so many people are sitting around, and it is burning in there. And then he goes in, legs up, for five minutes. Everybody said, "Oh my God, Mahārāj, Gurujī, Gurujī, Swāmijī, please come out, please come." And again, he came out of his—even his hair is like this, he is making like this. Yeah, so miracles or non-miracles? We have the ashram near Barikatu, and they are very great, great people. They have their ashram, and for many years the sādhus were there. So many people who went, they sat in samādhi and died. Now, this happened two times in Kathu, and here we made them also. There are 10-15 people, and then there is a master, a guru, and he is sitting, and they are singing some mantras. I don't know what they are speaking; I don't know what language they are speaking. I don't know if it is in Hungarian or the other way around. And about two full trolleys of wood—so much wood, from here to here full—and then they make a fire, and then they are singing mantras, and all the wood is burned. Yes, I can bring you here. Do you want to see this? Oh, yes. When I call them, if they don't come, they will run to me. Yes. And so, yes, we can, no problem. And so, glue all water glue. Then they were going round and round the fire. Very few people were on the back side because it was very hot. First, it was close, and then it was winter time. They were turned back, and they were dancing. Their master, the guru, is sitting there, and one is making some music. They are all going, and one person comes and with his leg touches the fire. One of his legs kicks or touches the fire, then from one side, from the other side, and from that he is walking slowly to the other side. The other one is going like this. They are going, and then they see fire. Oh, beautiful, yes, but big, yeah? Again, fire in hand. It is there nearly half a year, a month, hours, more, going like this. And when the program was over, then they took my legs, fire here and fire here, and go out. There are some people also from different countries, or from... where is that, near America? No, big country. Not America, Mexico. There are some people from Mexico. Yes, also. So it means that it is a sādhanā, a mantra, and you have to control, and you must do what the Guru gave you. I can come; he is always telling, "Please, Swāmījī, bring all your bhaktas. I will bring them to my ashram, and I take you with me." We go with... we have become from... yes, between Kathu and Jodhpur, that's beautiful. Holī Gurujī was there many times, and they all were respecting Holī Gurujī very much. I said to H. Gurujī that I will eat bājrī chapātī. So Gurujī said, "Okay, the best one I will bring you." And I went to that ashram. So it was a good thing, and this was good, and now we don't know anymore. Therefore, it is not so easy that I will become that guru, or I will become this, or I will become this. Nie je jednoduché povedať, že ja sa stanem guruom, alebo stanem sa tým, alebo iným. Musíme tie čakry trénovať, cvičiť. Nie je to o tom, že čakra je tu a tam. But these are very fine; there are some power points. That's why it is in our Hindi, Sanskrit, Hindi language... this is called, each letter has its own name. And it is called, what is it called? That, um, the Nāgrik. Nāgrik, but yeah, yeah. And so it is another name also, so coming from the cosmic science, it is a name, and that they have 20... no, 52 letters. And that, we have the book and everything; she can tell us if we want to learn. She times, yes, and then, okay. We have to power and calm down. There are not chakras like this that go up here, and this, and oh, oh... that is not. These are stupid things. These are fine feelings of that: good, bad, or bad. So, yoga is not only this—postures and this. But then you became that, which calls the yogīs, the Brahmans. The Brahmans, these are yoginīs, Brahmins. So I am searching for someone who will be like that. Yes, there are many; they are on the way. Yes, very good. So this was that work, you know. So, people of the world who need me, from there I spoke to them, and our powers. I said, the women are more powerful than the men, but we said, relax. One day, when they cannot, then women will come. And they are so one, male and female. It's another story; I don't want to tell you, because there was a woman in India... Muslims fighting there, they came to India. They killed all the kings, and in a big palace there were many, many women; there were many, many kings there. And they all came, these women there, because it was a very strong and very good building. And there were too many; they became Muslims. These other kings and strong people, they left. So they went to fight with them, with the Muslims, and so these Mahārājas, they all took the yellow dress, like fire, when then we will be like in the fire, and many of them were killed. Then there was a fire again, fire stories, a very big fire, a very big fire. They made women, and because their husbands also died, the Muslims will take them, these ladies. So from the building, all these women, ladies, they fall into the water of fire. They burned in fire. They said, "We will burn in fire; we will not die at the hands of these Muslims." We have been... he was there from Udaipur, and from Udaipur, yes. Two, three times I put our people there. And if you want to come, I will bring you, okay? They will not burn you now. It's a very big, two, three kilometers, this palace. Now the tourists are coming and going there, and people are telling them the whole story. So this is not that I am making a joke; it is. But we, not only me, in India, in these countries also, many times it happens, no? Mokṣtu Mahāprabhujī and God, please, it should not happen. It should not happen again. That is Prāṇa, energy. Otherwise, chik, chik... my God. So, time and we need that. It is not easy that we are yogīs or we will be like that. Oh, Śrī Prabhūjī, ha ha... Siddhīdīp Nārāyaṇa Bhagavān, Aikiś.
