People are good everywhere in the world

Our path is one of unity, transcending all borders and differences.

This gathering is an international family, interconnected like branches of a single tree. A seed grows into a tree that bears fruit for all. Yet, a single drop of lemon can split milk, just as one divisive person can disrupt harmony. Unity is the foundation. Travel reveals that good people and traditions exist everywhere, though appearances differ. Our shared spiritual practice and teachings fill every cell of our being. We must respect all paths while remaining steadfast in our own, free from attachment. The work of dedicated disciples across the world sustains this growth.

"One in all and all in one."

"Attachment should never be."

When two people from two countries come together, it is international. Everything is inter-connected. Day and night, all year, our conference is like this—an international conference. We have so many friends from other countries, here and there. What is very nice and interesting nowadays is that we have international marriages. Yes, Czechs go to Croatia to marry. Austrians are marrying in Australia through Yoga in Daily Life. Yes, we are truly a large Yoga in Daily Life family around the world. Of course, there are many organizations, but ours is different. I tell you very sincerely, I have not seen any kind of workers like you are. How humble you are. How spiritual you are, and how you are vegetarians. You think about God, and many, many things. That is not all. There are many people who are not like you, my dears. And the number of you here is very small: Austria, Czech, Slovakia... I’ll later mention the whole of Yugoslavia. We always said "Yugoslavia," and people always said it would become "Yogaslavia." And it happened. I did not say it; you people said it. And again, they are very friendly. It is because one tree brings forth a seed, and a beautiful tree grows, and then comes the fruit. So everyone from every branch of the tree takes cherries, and so on. Yugoslavia split into seven, and seven is a very significant number, a very best number. Yes, that is it. Seven is a great number. That was very nice, people. Everywhere, there are very good people. It doesn’t matter which part. People who go there are really happy, full of joy. Only a few talk about something that is different. But there are certain people who cause division. There is a saying: in five liters of milk, one drop of lemon. The whole milk splits. There is no more butter inside. You know that? When lemon is dropped into the milk, there is no yogurt, no milk, no butter—only a kind of paneer. And that paneer, we have to process it, you know. Some water comes out. So one drop can destroy many things. Similarly, if one person is somewhere causing trouble, then everything is not good. So, the first thing is unity (īk). Holi Gurujī said, "One in all and all in one." If it is one in all and all in one, but there is one thorn between them, then it’s gone. As much as one comes up, then thorns come. It is like when nuts come, there is a thorn. It’s a beautiful fruit, and some fruits are inside a bush. We can go in to get the fruit, but we cannot get out; everywhere is a thorn. So there are three thorns, and when the three thorns are there, one cannot come out. I was in other countries. That’s all. It was mostly a Muslim country, very, very big. It was on the border on the other side of... where was it? The Mediterranean Sea, not Afghanistan. No, no, no. I was there, and it was beautiful, very nice. People were very nice. There is a story, a very big, very nice one. We went to see different cities. There were no cities, only little villages. Early one morning at four o'clock, we were five people: an ambassador from Slovakia, his wife, his son, our son, and I think one more. We had a very nice car, a Czechoslovakian car, yellow. We prepared fruits, vegetables, and chapatis. We were vegetarian, and we took water also. The person working there for the water channels was our very nice friend, our brother, our disciple, and his wife also—very, very great. They were from Brno, from here. They both died. You know who that was now? From Brno, that’s it. I am telling you reality; otherwise, Swāmījī will make jokes. That was my home, and they invited me. Then we went to see, and I forgot the country’s name... Algeria. There are beautiful stones there because there is only sand. The sand has very heavy air. Going through the stones, it makes something like this. We went to see that part of the house, the stones. Then we said we would have breakfast, and lunch at midday. We would sit under a tree and eat. Where is the tree? No tree. There were one or two houses, families there, a little village, and there was nothing else, only something about electric things. So we said, "OK, we will have lunch, we will have morning now." We decided to eat lunch in the shadow of our car. The car stayed, but not in the shadow. Such nice things. Life, life to life is a great thing to see. We were eating, and we saw coming down... there are cobras—no, not cobras, but some snakes, and many things. Okay, we were eating, and then we came somewhere. There was, for tourists, a little cafeteria. We went to drink something. I had very white cloth, you know. Because it’s very hot, white is very nice; it’s not sweating. I had my cap, and mala, and little villas. There were some vegetables, people were there growing them. Everybody was looking at me, "Who is that?" I said, "I’m Swamiji." With me was the ambassador’s guardian, so nobody could say anything. There were many things to buy. Then something happened—I don’t know what. We lost a path or something. We wanted to have petrol. The road was so beautiful. From here, let’s say from Brno, one road you see straight, completely straight. Good trees, roads, and everything. There is also a warning for animals crossing the road. But there was only a sign written for the camel: "Careful, the camel will cross." Sometimes there is so much sand we don’t know where the road is. Suddenly we came somewhere; there was a little green, and there was this big date. I saw for the first time such long hanging dates. We people who haven’t seen this went to catch one. It was very thin, but I could not break it. I wanted to take it out but could not. As far as I go in, there is the needle; I go back, there is the needle. We could not cut one branch from this tree, not to prune the tree. Then we came in the afternoon somewhere, and there was a little village, one hostel there, and a little swimming pool. We were very good and swam there. People are very good. Then the sunshine was gone, and it was like our Pūrṇimā. The moon was big. After eating, we had rooms, two or three rooms. Around four or six o'clock, we decided to walk on the sand. We were walking through the street. There were so many young children, boys. All were sitting like this, watching one television. We were going, and nobody was looking. We went up on the sand, and snakes come in and come out through the sand. There were dogs barking, and I said, "Maybe there is somebody; they will take us." It was so nice; people were so nice, everywhere. The next day, we were searching for these stones. No, no... this is normal, yeah, because of the sand. So, from here our... what was his name? He died, Pabrano. He had to take an aeroplane to go to the embassy side. We were only four: his son, his mother, this one, and me. We went, came to one city, a little city, and got a hotel. Our people always say, "Guard yourself," and say, "My God, they will take things away, or somebody will take away." But I said, nobody will take this, okay? But in the morning we came, our car was not working. We said, "It’s no petrol," but there was something else. Where is a petrol pump there? There were Czechoslovakian people also from Krve. That time was this country, you know. Then one man came and asked, "How can I help you with something?" I said, "Yes, this and that." He said, "Oh, you are Indian." Yes, I am Swami, also Indian, and I am, you know. So he said, "Oh, you are very nice, Indians are very good, and you have so many cinemas, you know." They all see the cinemas, so they learn Hindi. He said, "Please come to my home," and this and that. So, what? My car is... He said, "Don’t worry, I will take my car and fix everything." He was a very nice man, very kind, and he did it. They said, "No money." "No, it’s okay." So I told him, "I live in Vienna, Austria, and sometime come to Austria." He said, "Swamiji, we don’t go to Europe, Austria." I said, "Why? Because men are not good there? Why? Because of the women." They are in the street, and the clothes are only to the knees. Such poor men! We don’t want to go like that. These men, they let their girls in the streets. Really! I said, no, no, they are good, and they are this and that. No, no, we don’t want these half-naked ladies in the street. They are at home, they have all food and everything, dress, nothing to do, and we are working only. We are working hard. The more men and women have no problems, and nothing that I like. Also, in India, like these good women, they are okay. Dress now, I will tell you that Indian women are more changing than here, anyhow. Such a country, and there was an ambassador of India there. He made a lecture for me, and he made Indian food in his embassy. He is now in Jaipur. He is an old man who... Whenever I come, he says, "Oh, Swamiji, he was there." So we came back, and there was a beach, the ocean. We were there: these two Czech ladies, one boy about twenty-four years or something, and me. We were swimming. Many people would stand up and go away. One lady in the water, without dress, so much. I was sitting there, and there was one man who came. He had a newspaper, but he was not only looking at the newspaper; he was always looking at me. So that was a nice thing. Everywhere, every country has its traditions, and their traditions should be like that, and all of them are happy. So life is that. How? And in that life, how to really live? That is that. Similarly, now we are here sitting, we think we are the best one, we are very spiritual, but someone may think differently. So we should not tell them that they are not good. We respect here and there. But what we learn, we know, and we are mostly with those holy books. Life has so many aspects, everywhere we go. In my life, I have traveled very much, and wherever I was, good people, very good people in Africa, and this country was also Africa. We also yesterday had our Guru Pūrṇimā. How many of us, and myself also, when I came from India, started this year about Guru Pūrṇimā. Our people from all around the world were talking about Guru Pūrṇimā, Guru Pūrṇimā, and how we all came. So it is like a feast, a very big one. We were always together. It was hot, and there were beautiful trees, but how were we? Others would say, "Oh, we must have tables and chairs," and we said, "Sit there and there." We were nothing. We were seated in everything, wherever we are. So that was a oneness. Our Swamis here, two Swamis became Swamis, and we also have Mahāmaṇḍaleśvar. All Swamis are great, like Śāntī and Hṛdyakamal, and they are on the level of the Mahāmaṇḍaleśvar. Yeah, because for so many years it has been like that. So it is very important to know. You are many for me to say, "Only your dress is different, otherwise you are a saint, a sādhu, a swāmī." How long are we living? When we go, where? We cannot be forever here. Sooner or later, we will go. But we want that through our knowledge, our culture—it means the yogas, spiritualities—all teachings, what we are teaching, and we are completely full of it from each and every part of our bodies, each and every cell in our bodies full of that spirituality, and to the gods, that is very important. Of course, sometimes one is a little bit angry or this and that. But if someone is angry, then we should be more happy. If somebody is angry and this and that, then you say, "Okay, thank you, very good, you are nice." Yes, there are many. Yes, Umāpurī is sitting here very nicely, but she is like, like something, you know what it is? Yes, so it is like that. So Śāntī also, she is very calm, peaceful, yeah. When somebody tells them, she is a little bit sad. Śāntī, but she doesn’t say no and that and this. And Hṛdyakamal, she is very soft and good, but inside she is still boiling something. So I said, "I came home for Guru Pūrṇimā," and everything was cleaned up. Yes, you see, she is a great, great, great. The first day she came to my yoga center with her husband, from that time she has got this path, and she took me as I am. What I said, if she would do, and she did so many things. Once I sent her to Fiji, and I thought Fiji is very good, and she... So there was some family there for one week or something, and then in the school somewhere they gave her some room. I did not know that Fiji is so poor, but she is very strong, Hṛdyakamal, and very correct. Some people were coming and going, and they were mostly Hindus from India, and they were thinking, "Oh, these may be Christians coming." But she was about one year, I think, there, and she had very good friends or disciples. The village’s name is Rakiraki. Yes. So you should know that. Swāmījī said, "What is Rākīrākī?" And then I went after that also to Rakiraki. In Rakiraki, she made so few people for me. Yes? And when I go again to the top, I go to the Rākī and many other people. Then, from there, she came to the other country. Many good things. She went through and through many months: Vienna, Germany, and there and there. Now she is peaceful also. She is peaceful always. So, all our sannyāsīs are very good. Only one is that, so can be light-hearted, and that’s Maheshwarananda. So, they are very, very good, you see. Some will go today back to their center, some will stay there. So, we should be even; that one is in Africa. It should be like one. We are not only that, my country, yes, many, many things. So sannyāsīs are for the whole world. Anytime they enter you, then say, "Yes, go." Give up everything. Attachment. Attachment is not good. Sometimes we want to get rid of attachment, but something is with us. Sometimes there is something from food or anything, and so the fingers are stuck. From taking it in this hand, it’s stuck here. It will take it there; it’s sticking here. When I put it, I think it’s sticking here. You know, it’s sticking? Sometimes, do you know what kind of stuck this is? From the... And so, attachment. Attachment should never be. When I left my country, I had to become attached or detest. I was attached, but when I was there, I said I will have to leave. But still, with attachment, I went there. Some bhaktas were there already, and letter by letter they were sending Swamiji, "Come, come back." So I said, when I come back to Europe again, then I will make my ashram. Then we came back again there two years more, and Dr. Śāntī came, and we had one ashram there. She brought so many pots and many, many things. She is a doctor, a very good doctor, but she doesn’t have much money. So she brought this and that, and every time she brought fruits and this and that. She always brings that pot and this pot, and Katerina said, "Don’t like." So much like this, I don’t want. I said, don’t worry. Holi Gurujī said, "If somebody will bring a little sand from outside," say, please, okay, bring it. But what should we do with the dust? Gurujī said, "No." It is good for some time, so take this earth and go to the park and put it nicely. So, like, was the doctor Śāntī? He was so much, yes, yes. So then Śāntī, and she brought to my tooth, how this and that, and she stopped me with sugar. So, till now, I don’t have sugar, only in my body. Everything is good. So, see our Hṛdyakamal and Dr. Śāntī. They were very great now. Now, of course, all who are coming are very good. That’s why I said, Hṛdayakamal must come today. And she came. We shall take care of our Hṛdayakamal, that she has a long life and all is well. So you are good. Sometimes I have to tell you these things. Why do I tell you? Because you have to learn this, let’s go and come. We have many European people. We have here one girl. Her husband is also here. But she was alone, went to India, and she was in many, many yoga centers, and so, and she came to Jadān, and I’ve forgotten that she knew, but she said, "Swāmījī, I know you." And my husband is there, Swamijī. I said, "Yes." So, have you a mantra, or you? She said, "I don’t have a mantra. I have no guru. I am sitting in front of you." She said, "That’s why I come." And she is so good, she is such a nice person. She has no, "I will not do this," and now she is here in the garden, and how she works very hard. Really, she works in the garden very hard, as to our, then who is our gardener? Yeah. Such a person, she went everywhere in the Himalayas, and this and here and there. Very humble, kind, everything, and so is that life. But don’t then go here and there and there. First, we have our path. Our yoga, our this, our that, and our yoga and our life is, I think, about 50 years in this part here. And so many, many people, we are like this, and others are also very from distance. Our Māṭājī, doctor, no, son, the Māṭājī, she came from the... No, she was from China, but she’s living in Canada, Vancouver. I said about Guru Pūrṇimā, and within three days, she tried everything quickly, night and day, and this, and her disciple, she’s also here, come, she’s Hindi, she speaks Hindi and everything, and she came for Māṭājī’s helping and this. And Māṭājī came here. Yesterday, she was talking very much about China. I think Matajī was not born in China; she was in Malaysia, but still the blood is in China. And so, for Austrians it doesn’t matter, but for Austrians, blood is different. And Czech is different. You are going? Thank you. So, everybody, we have blood in our body. Yes, so we said the salt of our body is here. And now many people are indifferent. Many Indians are born now in America, but they are always thinking, "We are from India, from India, from India." So this is good, it is very, very good. We shall remain, and we should be happy, and once then, from that, of course, our ātmā is gone in oneness. One should have given that kind of part: God, and humble, and not killing, and no wars, and like this. That is this. So yesterday our program was very good, and you did it. Yeah. Without you, we are nothing. Then it’s like a dry tree. There are no leaves, no fruits, and nothing. Everybody was very humble, very good, peaceful. We had some programs. Lectures were little because it was such a long time, so many people, so many people came to Śaila Svāmījī and to these Svāmījīs, and like this. How many people? I don’t count. When somebody comes to me, "Hello, Swāmījī," and this, and "How are you?" and take, I said, "Yeah, okay, thank you, very good. Now you pretty come, thanks." I have to bring all, otherwise we will not finish in three days. Therefore, one bhajan is very good. Who is singing? What is very good? One bhajan. Satsaṅg, sam, Aṅga hoya tarasuna barasave, Dātāmṛta barasave. Satguru saṅgīyā, Sat-sat saṅgīyā jāve. Olavāsana barajāve, Ratpāpe taratpe. Yavan nahī bhav, data parīyo nirvāṇ nahī bhav, satya bharjav, data alvāsā na bharjav. Jaya Saṅghīyan Śrīdīp Nārāyaṇ Bhagavān Kī Jayā, Śrī Satguru Deva Kī Jayā.
