God is the giver

A spiritual discourse following bhajans for Guru Pūrṇimā.

"If you have no time for practicing yoga or anything, then it means you also have no time for eating."

"God knows everything: when, how, and where He is acting. So do not be proud of yourself."

A speaker addresses a gathering, reflecting on the recent bhajans and the attendees' spiritual practice (anuṣṭhāna). The talk emphasizes the necessity of sādhanā, comparing it to the essential need for food, and explores themes of divine grace, humility, and the interconnectedness of all life. Using analogies of rain, a water well, and a caged parrot, the speaker advises constant prayer, mantra repetition, and cultivating goodwill for all creatures to ultimately realize oneness.

There were beautiful bhajans. What kind of bhajans were those? They were the beautiful bhajans of Guru Pūrṇimā. In India, we have the season called Mānsūm, when the rains come at this time. For us here, rain can come at any time, so we have no special name. We have only snow and rain. It is good. Everything is good. Your anuṣṭhāna practice was good. Very good, thank you. Today I also went to Brno, and perhaps the day after tomorrow I must go there again. That is good. But tomorrow there is a Kriyā Dīkṣā for those who wish to receive Kriyā. We have learned much about this. We have spoken much that is good, and most of you know this Kriyā Sādhanā. Some cannot do it because of much work. But it is said: if you have no time for practicing yoga or anything, then it means you also have no time for eating. In the morning we could not practice, so we will not have breakfast. At lunchtime, we have no time to do anything, because we have no time even for food. And in the evening, for dinner, you have no time for your sādhanā. So, will you take your lunch and dinner, or do you want to fulfill the wishes for the life of life? Food is also very, very important for everyone, from the elephant to the ant. And it is said: who are we that we can feed everyone? Sometimes, some people have nothing to feed. So it is said, do not think you are great, that you are feeding yourself. No. For us also, it is God who is feeding us. He determines which year it should be, where the rain should fall, and when we can have food and fruits. If there is no water and nothing there, there are no fruits either. So it is said, from the elephant to the ants and others, it is what we call our God—however you think of God, or whatever. That One is taking care of us all the time. We cannot see Him, but He sees everyone. He knows where and what is happening, and He does not desire that. Thank you very much. God knows everything: when, how, and where He is acting. God knows what, where, and how He does it. So do not be proud of yourself. But you can be proud that God gave me a lot... then it is okay. So who is the giver? The giver is God. Different countries and different religions have different names for God. Why not? It is good. The birds also are searching and waiting for the rain, and so are all our grasses, trees, and fruits. And when there is much dust that we are not cleaning, when we are blocking something, then God has to act. He brings so much water. He cleanses everything and carries it to the ocean. So we should not say that God is not good. One has to understand. That is why now there are not so many people in every country who pray before eating. When I came to Europe, to Austria or Vienna or other countries, they would say a prayer to God before eating. Some had long prayers, and some just said, "My God." But now, many do not think to do so. Because we think we are human and we can do everything; why should we think about God? God did not say that. God said, "I will be very happy and proud if you can do it all." So God is not only on the earth, but He is in many, many places. On the sun, the moon, and many stars—everywhere there is something. They also need God to balance that. And we cannot know this, but we know, so we call it Parabrahma. This word, what we are saying, contains everything within it. Like the Muslims say, "Allah." And Allah, you cannot see Him. But they say He is. And many other religions say something, so we are doing. But many now do not, and that is why what is happening? In Kali Yuga, Satya Yuga, Dvāpara Yuga, and Tretā Yuga, many, many religions began, and then what we call now Kali Yuga. And it is said one day it will come that Kali Yuga will come riding on a horse, and he will have many things we do not know. And it is said he will clean everything again, but before this, we will all come to the Brahmaloka. That is very important. Now, we should, according to our country, our tradition, and where we have different religions, worship accordingly, and we should all love the creatures. That is a very important thing. So on that day... I think we are practicing our sādhanā. Always, we have two kinds of practice: visible. Visible, and we can see, we can touch, we can taste, we can hear, etc. But beyond this, we are only thinking like that. Many things we know, we all say are for God. And many times also Christmas comes, and all people come home together. And why? The first thing is the family together, and children are happy, and we are all together and think of God. In this way, we have to learn ourselves. In India and here also, there are many religions. Christianity is also not only one part. They do different kinds of things, but think of Jesus. In America, there are so many, so many different religions. Everyone is doing their best in what they are thinking and doing, and we also should be alert ourselves, that I should bring myself to Brahmaloka before. There are many things. Even many, many creatures, animals, humans, they are dying—by fire, water, air, etc. But there are certain ones that go very deep into the earth, and they can live life. That is what God makes. But Kali Yuga is for many things. It is coming; be very, very careful. And we know ourselves in our life already: how many times we have heard something, or we have also had some kind of fire, or very hot, or dry, or no water, or rain—many things. Everything is there, but we cannot take it that way. So we do not know, and I also do not know. I am only saying what many saints are telling. I do not know either. Já jenom říkám, co o tom říkají svědci. That when we will give up our life, že až se vzdáme svého života, až budeme staří, nebo nemocní, nebo už věk na nás dolehne, etc., we have to die. And when they are going, where will we go? And on that side, it is all creatures, including the humans. We are ātmā, the soul for everyone. How many animals, etc.? Fire also, water also, earth also, every second. So there, all at once, something happens, and it will come to oneness. Like the rain is coming, but only some drops. And somewhere it is raining very, very strongly. But it helps all the same. The dropping is ongoing, coming warm water, but it is all one. Each drop will come together. And then it becomes all water, drip by drip, and it begins to flow. And so we do, and our feelings, our techniques, our life, how to live—everything is there. But in reality, all will come together. All the trees, grass, and when it will go, we do not know. What is living? The tree is living, the grass is living. But after, we all do not know, we will go. Or we will be only in the sky. But we cannot say, "Hi, my friend. Hi, Gurujī." Om Śrī Rāmajī. Swāmījī. Neither will I see you, nor will they see me. And that language will not be this. There is not that language. I do not know what language it is, but all is one. So that is what the Gurujī said: one in all and all in one. So that is that, what we are all doing, our sādhanā. Is that all we want to become? In beautiful and good and peaceful, harmonious as oneness. This is very important. It is many things. We are talking very much, good. But suddenly, if somebody tells something, then others will also tell negative. We are fighting. We do not want to talk. We say, "This stupid person," my neighbor is not good. Then how is it that you are not good? It is not so easy, not easy, and everything is okay. For example, in a water well—and that water well is about 100 meters deep, in many countries in India—and there is water. So, with a rope, they take a basket and send it down to get two or three liters of water. Coming up, bringing it all—100 meters is very deep—and all are working, half a meter left only, and the rope breaks. What happened? It falls again into the well. Oh, God. Okay. Doesn't matter. But my rope is also gone. And fast-walking. The bucket is also there. Whatever I have done, all is gone. So is that. Our life, we did many things. Finally, it is coming now. Our time has come, that now we will die. Or we go. But where will we go? So it is that we shall do mālā, always mantra, your mantra, and think good for all, not only our parents or family, but all, and also for all other animals. So that is that. It is a parrot, and we put the parrot in the cage. How many years is he there? And we love him, we give him food, but he cannot go to his friends. The parrot has no wife, no husband. They cannot fly with full wings; their wings are also cut, so they cannot fly. Many people go to other countries and tell the neighbors, "Please, can you give water and seeds for my parrot?" And when they come, they say, "Hello." Then, speaking a different language. And they bring some fruits or something, but that is a prison. So many animals have also lost many things in prison. So, my dears, we want, and we should pray more and more. Here is not enough, and that is not enough. This means we will have done it for everything, for every creature. Everyone feels pain when we are killing them or when we are stepping on them. For that, what will we say? How do you know that it does not matter, that they are nothing? Who said it is nothing? Including all grass, trees, etc. And water is also. Water is very powerful, and water is very, very clean and good, but on this earth we are making it dirty. So, in that way, when you are making programs and you are coming here, did you alone walk 100 meters? What do you think? What have you been thinking sometimes? Or we went through our whole ashram? You think about birds, trees, some fruits, etc. But what is not more? Have you thought of something? We are already on some level. Little children are okay; they do not know it yet. And they have left, still have life. But now when we walk, we will be slow. It will become, we are very tired. When we say, "I am tired," in which way does not matter. Yes, now there are only a few steps left to come. Then where will we go? So in sādhanā, practicing, you have to think, I have to think, we have to think, how we will do. Of course, we have to be for everyone, helping everyone. And we will do something, we will be happy together. We are human, we are not only birds, because all animals also love each other more, but we should also, and we are doing, but this is very different. But now the time is different. This is temporary. What is next? Walk, walk, walk. And we come to the very water well. And there is no path, and it is very deep. We do not know if it will be water, or stones, or some different things, stones, or animals, cobras, tigers. We do not know. We pray. We should really pray. Only God will give us, and what we have done. So please, we say, clean away all the dust of the negative things to others. If one is like that, you should also be like that. And so in these days, you are doing your sādhanā for yourself, your wife or your brother, your husband, mother, father, etc. We are for also, and we will go further. This is the day. So that was, it is called, the coming of Guru Pūrṇimā. And this Guru Pūrṇimā, Pūrṇimā, complete Pūrṇimā. One day, only one day, dark moon, and then again comes the light, and it becomes complete moon, and again, day by day, it goes back to the dark. So when we are thinking, why are we talking so much about the moon? It gives us immense knowledge. And the moon is very close to us. So, there are many other stars, unbelievable where we are and how we will. Sometimes we will come together, maybe 500 of our friends in the Himalayas somewhere in heaven, and suddenly one person said, "No, we are Gurudev." Oh, we all come, become big and big and big. We become very big, like a moon. It means good time. Everything will be very good. So, my dear, how many days? Only four days gone? And now, Guru Pūrṇimā is coming. Birds are also coming. This year we will have Guru Pūrṇimā here. And, of course, every Guru Pūrṇimā will be here also. Many bhaktas will come, many sādhus will come, and it will be over. So that is very important. And be happy. Live with happiness. Joy, and be good to all. Satsaṅg dharma kī Jai.
