The name is very important

Yoga is one universal path originating from the divine. Many great masters have taught it under different names and forms, yet all lead to the same goal. The essence is not merely physical exercise or intellectual knowledge but a journey toward the cosmic Self. All traditions and teachers who bring peace and harmony are valid. Human differences in appearance, thought, or tradition are natural, but the underlying unity is fundamental. The practice requires internal purification of the mind, not just discussion. Techniques like neti and dhoti are practical means for this cleansing. Dedication and surrender make everything possible on this path.

"Everyone's yoga is good."

"Dirty water has to be purified. This means we should remain in yoga and purify our mind."

Good morning, good evening, and good night. Since our gathering is international, I greet you for all times. Our practices went very well; you all practiced excellently, sitting comfortably. Some were moving a little, adjusting themselves, but it was good. Many people came for the first time and also followed the program. Many of our brothers and sisters have been working very hard here for our Guru Pūrṇimā. I respect the many yoga centers, ashrams, yogīs, and teachers—such as Yoga in Daily Life and others—in many different countries very much. They are bringing peace, harmony, understanding, and a path to God. Yoga is yoga. It comes from Bhagavān Śiva, who brought this yoga. Yoga is not only the physical body, nor merely thinking and learning. We have to go very far towards the cosmic Self. Many great saints, yogīs, gurus, and mahātmās have brought this forth, from Śaṅkarācārya onward, in many different languages. It is not only the name "yoga." All masters and great saints have their names, and according to that great tradition, their disciples carry yoga names connected to their masters or gurus. This is correct. For example, you are sitting here and you have your name. But from whom are you? From your father. Is your name your father? We are all one humanity, but we come from our mother and father. Our neighbors also have a mother and father. Therefore, we should not think, "My yoga is good." No. Everyone's yoga is good. There are gurus who give lectures and teach many sādhanās, while others follow only one way. Consider the Bhagavad Gītā. How many chapters are there? Each chapter has a different name, and that name is yoga: Bhakti Yoga, Karma Yoga. They are all different, yet it is one. Bhagavān Kṛṣṇa spoke all the chapters. He made Himself. So who would like it? They will take it. We are all people from somewhere. We are now in the Czech Republic. Nearby is Germany, and another is Austria. There is a very big India, and there is China, Australia, and many other countries. But there is only one Earth and one sky. We are all under the umbrella of the sky. The whole world is under this umbrella. Therefore, we should not tell someone they are not good. No. Consider humans: every human face is different. When we are learning, we have a name—only a name. But everyone can have a name. Yet in the thumb, there is a stamp, a unique imprint. Others do not have the same. Only I have mine, and you have yours. The thumb and the eyes—every eye is different. Inside, it is different. We all have eyes, and that is correct, but they are different. Therefore, we should acknowledge all differences, but we are human. You are all sitting here now, and you are all good, very good. You are listening; we are happy. But still, in each brain, thoughts are so different. God has made this so because everyone is different. So we should not say, "My yoga is good" or "Their yoga is good." The name is very important, but yoga is one. It means "yoga." But people will say, "What yoga? We do yoga," and then we become confused. We have Yoga in Daily Life, the very famous Shivananda Ashram, Vivekananda Yoga, etc. But it is only one. They said their name. So our name is Yoga in Daily Life. They will not say, "This yogī" or "This is not a yogī." Let it all go. Rain comes, very big rain. It falls all over Europe and other countries too. One drop, and each single drop becomes part of something big. Some water falls into the ocean. Other water falls in another country, on beautiful vegetation. These trees are beautiful. Somewhere else, there is only dirt everywhere. That is where it will fall, but it is water. Dirty water has to be purified. This means we should remain in yoga and purify our mind, our mental thinking. Then we are perfect yogīs. Otherwise, we are just talking. Other yoga centers are not good? They say they are stupid? They say they don't know? Who is who? That's it. Humans. We have different colors, under different skies. Everything is different. Even from the same mother and father, every child has different eyes. There are differences, but we are all human. We have to understand everyone. We should not say, "My religion, their religion." It should not be like that. Every religion, according to their countries, is good. In the end, there is neither religion nor others, but only the human. This whole week, you had a beautiful sādhanā. Your teacher was perfect. Many people were very tired. Yes, it was very hot under the buttocks. Someone said, "When the program is finished, let's go." But we have immense energy, immense. Try to get more oxygen. Breath. Iḍā, Piṅgalā. This is very important, so practice the different kinds of breathing. This is why the yogīs have said it, not others. There is Chandra and Surya. These both are in our nostrils. Chandra is the left, and Surya is the right. But within, there is another. If we can balance them together on that day when the full moon and the sun are completely balanced... but complete balance cannot last long; it has to change. That’s why we have netī, dhotī. Do you know the techniques of netī dhotī? Can someone tell? Umāpurījī, netī dhotī? Netī dhotī is the cleaning of the nose and sinuses with lukewarm water and a little salt inside. Dhotī, or kunjal kriyā, is the cleaning of the stomach, esophagus, and mouth. Neti is cleaning of the nose with salt water, and dhoti is cleaning of the stomach with kunjal kriyā. How have these techniques been practiced? Neti, dhauti, basti, etc. Hands up, please. Netī, dhautī, bastī, trāṭak. Hands up, please. Only that much. Oh, very good. Hands up once more. After this, tomorrow’s program is for Guru Pūrṇimā. After that, you go home, and others who did not stay here. We will bring you these techniques for two weeks. Tell it at home, so you know the netī. I think many of you still did not understand this. Neti is with the nose, taking water from the left nostril to the right nostril, and water comes out, or from the right, water comes out through the left. With warm water and a little salt inside, in the morning, we clean our nostrils. Now you know this. Who did not understand before? Hands up? Okay, so we will do this: everybody will come with your lotā and water, and everybody sit in one line near the garden so the water can go somewhere. Okay? And then everybody should change. That’s a good idea. Do you have this pot? Who doesn’t have one? Who has not? They are saying that some have it at home but not here. No, no... I mean, at home is okay, so it means you have it, but you did not use it. So now, try again. Next time when coming, we have to do the whole techniques again, not only Anuṣṭhāna. First, Anuṣṭhāna means netī, dhotī, basti—all this has to be done, and then go to the hall and do Anuṣṭhāna. That’s good. I thought, "Our mind, your teacher said, 'Okay, do Swāmījī’s head,' and we do that, that’s all." Now, next, what am I? After Guru Pūrṇimā, we will complete these techniques. One week, completely relaxed, cleaned, everybody. And everybody will drink water every day. There, our lake, then from our lake, there we have going more. There is a little warm, like a river, and all will do this there. And only one day, Śaṅkha Prakṣālana. Everyone. Yes, very good. Yes, that is then yoga. You know, otherwise everybody is sitting there and then says, "Oh, time for tea." Good, very good. We will make a chart again. All this will be on it. I think, who is working here in this garden? So, Jaya Devī. Jaya Devī will get more people there, because many of them will not take Saṅkṛta Parāśara. Yes, we have to come again. We have to come to there. If someone is pregnant, we will not make you do it; this is something different. Then we will not give it to you; otherwise, we will do it. Best, very good. This week was very nice. It was not very strong rain, and not very hot. A little rain came, and we have mosquitoes, very good. But our mosquitoes, they are not from certain waters that are not good, so mosquitoes. They are making an injection to see how you are, so that’s okay, right? Thank you. Tomorrow morning we will have a lecture again, until 11 o’clock, 11:30. Some of our friends, our disciples, our brothers and sisters are going home, and other people are coming. We don’t know how long the distance is, not in the Czech country, but in many other countries. We have our Sannyasin Mataji. She came here for our Guru Pūrṇimā. She came from Vancouver, Canada. I said, "I will be here," and Matajī came immediately. She has our student, Siti, and her yoga. She says, "Your blessings." She is always giving blessings. He is a disciple. Matajī is a disciple. Matajī is from China. I don’t know if she was born in China. She was somewhere in, I think, Europe or Malaysia. Malaysia is very good. I was there many times. So now she’s in Canada. But she also speaks the Chinese language, very good. And so, Marta, I think nearly 10 years or more in China, going time to time for Yoga in Daily Life teachers. So in China, there are about three to four Yoga in Daily Life centers. In China, it’s like that. Even if you have, how to say, coffee, even if something is my book, you cannot take others’ copies. China said, "I don’t call, okay? You have a copy, no problem." So Matajī goes to China and teaches Yoga in Daily Life, and after two or three months, they go different and teach Yoga in Daily Life, copyright. They said, "It’s very good copyright." But Matajī, there are many disciples there. So we also have in China our Yoga in Daily Life. She’s a little tired all day, coming from a long, long way. But now she came to see us. Matajī, do you want to say some words? Yeah. Sitting or standing? Yes. Will you all stand here? Of course, they will hear you in Chinese language. Come, Matajī, here. Here is Matajī, so that you can hold. So welcome, Mataji. It was so warm for me. Matajī Speaks: Praṇām Gurudev. Praṇām Gurudev. Good evening, brothers and sisters. I am overwhelmed to be here. Thank you for the blessing of our Gurudeva. This is my first Guru Pūrṇimā Satsaṅg. I was thinking of coming, but with so many things going on, teaching and everything, and I was planning to come in August. But suddenly, with the blessing of Gurudeva, everything just changed overnight. So, I dropped everything. I was having classes when I got the news. And I had to cancel everything in Vancouver. I was teaching in Vancouver. I’m also teaching in China. At that moment, I just dropped everything and went out to get a ticket. And then, with the help of Bugishe, we went to get tickets, but everything just happened so fast. If we use our brain to try to plan things, most probably we think, "Oh, it’s not possible with COVID going on. How can I? I don’t even have a vaccine. I don’t have everything, both of us." So we had to go and do the test. The same night we went to do testing, and they say, "Yes, valid for 72 hours." So we flew. That was last night your time; it’s our morning 5 o’clock. We went to the airport; it was a long line up, and then we go. By the time we came to get a ticket, the guy checked and said, "No, it’s not valid. You cannot go on the plane." At that point, a little bit of stress, but deep inside, I know Viśva Gurujī said everything is possible. So I knew that it will, we will be here. So we went back to the testing, a lot of waiting. And then, by the time we came back, the plane was almost on time, and then the line was long, and then they would not let us jump the queue. We had to wait, we had to wait, so we just waited, waited, waited. Finally, everything is possible. With Vishwa Gurujī, nothing is impossible. The same thing Vishwa Gurujī said, "I teach in China, I teach in Vancouver, thinking of my age, and I haven’t been visual-glued, well, 20 years, and with my physical condition, nothing is possible." My students look at me; they are very young. One day in Vancouver, they say, "Can you do a headstand?" I say, "Let’s see how you do first." And I made her—I can’t remember what posture to hold on—and she couldn’t hold it. So I say, what does it mean to do a headstand? You can’t even hold this position, so she was defeated. So what I’m trying to say is, Viśva Gurujī gave me so much blessing that I managed in China, but not at one moment, I think. I’m doing it. I know Vishwa Gurujī is with me and all of us. If you’re willing without the mind, so everything is possible. She couldn’t do it, and I say, "Why would you make a stand on your head if you can’t even do this position?" And so I teach this yoga in such a way that I teach it, but I never think that I do it. I always know that it is Viśvagurujī’s blessing that does it for me. And in this way, when we think, we find out that everything is possible. Sometimes I think, how come I’m so lucky? I’m so blessed. And everything, whatever Vishwa Gurujī said about China, about Vancouver, nothing to do with me. Everything is Guru Devī. I don’t know how many, how many, how many lives it took for us to finally come to Vishwagurujī’s lotus feet. Nothing, nothing is more important. Nothing else is important. Except to listen to Guru Vakya, but sometimes it’s hard because things go other ways. And very often, how can it be? I thought I’m getting a blessing. How come I’m getting so much difficulty? Because the mind hasn’t gone yet. Most probably, we are still coming from our own decision. Because we have so much ego, because this is what I think. So that’s why. And some of the times, those difficulties are meant to be there to rid us of our own karma. And we have to lose many, many, many things, and without losing that, we will not get what we are supposed to have. Very often we think, "Yes, we will have this blessing," but then that is not a real blessing. Like here, I’m quite sure we feel so peaceful, and the mind is gone. But without the mind gone, we will not be at peace. And we are not at peace with ourselves. We are not at peace with God. And Viśva Gurujī knows us all, and we do not know ourselves. So, thy lotus feet. Swāmījī Concludes: Thank you, Matajī. Děkujeme, Matajī. You came from a long, long country. But if one wishes, then nothing is too far. Děkujem.
