Gurupurnima Satsang in Strilky Ahram 2021/2

The path of sannyāsa in this age requires work and self-reliance. It is not an easy life of dependence. One must labor, perhaps in a garden or farm, to generate funds for personal security, such as for medical care or old age. This work also serves the collective good. True sannyāsīs should not be like those who merely sit and do nothing; they must practice sādhanā and contribute harmoniously. The necessary financial support comes from the dedicated work of all disciples. The global mission expands through such sincere service, bringing peace and yoga to many lands.

"Even if you are a sannyāsī, you have to work. Anything can happen—you might have an accident and need to go to the hospital."

"We do very good for all, not only for ourselves or for our families, but for everyone."

Filming location: Strilky, Czech Republic

Swimming here is something very good. We will do this. There are many, many things. This is Guru Pūrṇimā, and we have been working here for many, many years. Our Gurudev, Holy Gurujī, and many great people were here—ambassadors and many others. We will do more work, and we will tell you more about it. That is very important. Now, regarding all these sannyāsīs: it is not easy to be a sannyāsī, and you should not be dependent on anyone. In this Kali Yuga, even if you are a sannyāsī, you have to work. Anything can happen—you might have an accident and need to go to the hospital, and so on—and it takes a lot of money to manage such situations. In that way, yes, they have to work too. In India, perhaps one can manage somehow, but here, if anything happens and you are not working, then in the hospital... Here, don't tell me. Even if you become senior, you see, you still have to work, at least until you retire. You have to work hard here, and we get the money. From this money, we will set it aside for when you are old. Then you will have money that will allow you to contribute to your income, so that you will have an income. Many people say they want to be a sannyāsī. Okay, you can become one, no problem. But go work in the garden, in the forest, on the farm. Bring the fruits outside, or do many other things. So if one becomes a sannyāsin, it is more hard work, you see. But we do very good for all, not only for ourselves or for our families, but for everyone. However, they should do their practice, sādhanā, learning, etc., in the evening. That is very important. So I want to have many sannyāsīs, if you wish. But peníze, money. Yes, money. You have to give, and we will put it in the bank and so on. It will go further and further. And then, you can also... there are many things. Many people want to say, "I want to become a sannyāsī." Sannyāsa is not easy. It is not easy at all. And then the sannyāsīs are fighting. You know, yesterday they were fighting. The sannyāsīs fight in a way you don't understand. That is why I put them on one side, because they will box me in here. So it is not easy. You will see at the Kumbh Melā how many sādhus are fighting. They are only eating, sitting, doing nothing. We do not want to be like those sannyāsīs. We should be like the sannyāsīs as our Mahāprabhujī said. You should know what you will do and how you will do it. There are so many things. We would like many sannyāsīs; we can hold Europe. Many of us are here. You know that all our sannyāsīs from Europe are here, and we are very happy they are all together. They all came, and all our people were very happy. They saw that the Sannyāsī was here. Many were always looking at how they are, and that is very important. Where to sit, how to sit? It is too high, so it is like this. It is not easy. Swāmījīs and Sādhus, they are inside like this. Even the Māmājīs are fighting. That is why I have my guards from Europe. Yes, at all Kumbh Melās around me, everyone is from Western Europe. And then we get more in the... how do we call it... in the newspapers, mostly our bhaktaśālā. Because others do not know what they are doing. So we are doing something, and everybody... so all newspapers are there. And mostly, even if I am there, they do not take me in the camera, the others, you know. Last time when we were in Ilahabad, all cameras were taking shots of our girls and boys like this. Mostly girls. So I said, that is the greatest of women in Europe. How great they are. So every time is something different. So it is not easy to become a sannyāsī, and all others also. We have to become, but you know that from 1960, 1971, till now, very nice, good work and very deep happenings have occurred, so our people became like this, peaceful. Others are not. And many, many, many of our workers, our disciples, all in many, many countries, are teaching and giving further, and they are very great. Now, it is from there, Kailash Ashrams and holy Gurujīs. From this, what we are, "Yoga in Daily Life," throughout the whole world, that kind of people became very great everywhere—in London, in America. Many, many males or females went to other countries. Now, you know, in China also, Matajī is here, and she has four centers there, yoga and then life. I was twice in Japan, and there are also our bhaktas who are teaching yoga in their lives in so many places. So for 20 minutes or 15 minutes, our Matajī, Divyā Matajī, Dayāmātā, from China, will tell. But before that, I will give them something. Okay, sit down. So we gave them something from all of you, what you have collected. And for everybody, and every work, and this and that, it is not only the money, but we had to know how to get it, and how to do, and how to work, and this all, there goes the money. And from where does it come? Not from the sannyāsīs, but from all of you. That is why I said how you are great, and this is you are great. All of you are also my disciples, and they are my disciples. And our Mahāprabhujī’s āśrams, Devīgurujīs and everything, they are all very peaceful and harmonious. Not harmful, harmonious. And all of our āśrams are full of harmony. So, Vāsanthjī, he wants to give someone to Swāmī. I would start with you, Gurudev, because you are also Swami. So I will start with you, Guru Dave, because you are also with us. If I did not say it, the money would not come. You also work. Bring the vessels for Māṭājī. And as the first, tell me how you came to me. Devo Maheśvara, Guru Satsa Parabrahma, Tasmai Śrī Gurudeva Namah, Mahāṅkartā Prabhudeepa Kartā, Mahāprabhujī, Kharādāhi Kevalam, Śānti, Śānti, Praṇām Gurudev. Good evening, brothers and sisters. Earth, beautiful, divine day, blessed day, we are in heaven, heaven on earth. Where do you find this heaven? Here, here. I flew all the way here. Guru Dev let us experience this heaven on earth. So I am speechless. I do not know what to tell you. I think all of us, this stress, like this morning Śānti Citta was explaining, I was also, when I heard Shantījī said about she was going through stress, and I remember before I met Viśva Gurujī, I was going through tremendous stress, tremendous stress. I left my parents when I was fairly young to go over to England to study. That was the early ’60s. No phone system. I mean, they were, but it is not so easy. So I was away for almost ten years before I could go home for the first time. And there were no phone calls. Anyway, after a long time, I was longing to go home. By the time I went home, my father was already very sick. And then I was faced with taking care of my father for months on end. So I was very stressed, and then after his death, my mother had a stroke. Then I found Yoga in Daily Life. That was the beginning of Yoga in Daily Life opening in Vancouver. So Viśva Gurujī was coming to open the ashram. And somehow, it was a friend who is working for one of the disciples. She told me that the ashram was opening, so I went there and I sat. Viśvagurujī was sitting in the front. Then there is one lady who came in, and she nodded at Viśvagurujī, and she sat beside me. Then I said, "Do you know him?" And she told me, "No, I have never seen him before. But I had a dream about him, and then the next day I came out, I saw an ad about this seminar." So she said it was strange; it is the same person she dreamt of. So we both practiced in the same ashram. And then the ashram was closed very quickly after one and a half years. And I was, at that time, under a lot of stress because my mother had a stroke, and I was going back and forth. I found the yoga really helped me, so when the ashram was closing, I was wondering how I could help to stay in the ashram. Anyway, I got a mantra. And then the ashram was closed. Soon after, not much later, Swami Ketanam was sent to organize and start the ashram again. And then I was asked to serve Swami Gajananda. So through him, I did learn a lot about yoga and other things. So that is how I started with Viśvagurujī. And then Vishwagurujī, at certain points, they say that I should go to China. And I asked, although I am Chinese, I knew nobody in China. And I asked how, so that was hanging in my head for over a year or more. And then I became stressed again because I was asked, but I could not do it. So there were some Chinese from nowhere, I do not know. They called my home. They asked whether I could speak Chinese, and I said yes. It was a lady from Chongqing, and I went to her house and gave lessons to her friends and herself. And then the following year, she invited me to go to China. And then, in the meantime, there was an Australian, our disciple, Yaśodā. And also, Gaṅgā Purī from Rijeka, he was then transferred from Guangzhou to Shanghai. Somehow, it is through some disciple we got connected, so everything was happening then. Yashoda has been living in India for a while, and she was teaching in China, so she has some connection in Shanghai. So that fall, I went to meet her in Shanghai. And then Ganga Purī, her and I did an advertisement, but it was not successful. Then Yashoda had some students and family, so she organized some teaching for me. On that trip, I went to Chongqing to see my students. So she organized many yoga seminars for me. So from there, I came to meet other people. So it was there I got introduced to another city, so that was in Wuhan. So it went on, that is how I started. I met somebody, I was teaching in an institute, which is very, very big. But then the thing is, Chinese for yoga is very much about business. So they can make a lot of money out of me. They do big advertisements, so lots of people came. But they make all the money. So, like, for 30 lessons it was 135,000. It is, let me, I am trying to calculate it. It is a lot; it is thousands of euros. And so they collected the money. When I left, they just gave 6,000 Chinese yen, which is like $1,000 Canadian to me. And then they sent me to Haikou. That is where I have my center now. It is also one of their institutes, so I was teaching there. First, I taught in Wuhan, and there were lots of students. Then they sent me to Haikou, and I also taught there. Again, no money. Even when I was leaving, they refused to give me even a plane ticket and fee. First, they said we join venture. But then in the end, I told them, "I am not going to teach here unless you pay me." But then they say, "You are a monk." So you get whatever we give you, and this is a young, young couple. They are in their twenties only. So they are trying to bully an elderly lady. So, in the end, I say, I am not teaching unless you pay. What happened is, they have collected all the money from the students in advance. So, if I do not teach, then they have to pay back the money. So they agree, they pay, but they only pay for the student’s attendance to the class, not what they pay. So anyway, I finished the term. I got some money out of them. But then they say, "Okay, we cannot hire you anymore." After I left, even though the students liked my class very much, they hired the student to do the class. So they continue with all the students. I built it up with one student teaching the class. So that was how it was. Whenever I teach, I always think that they will teach the class because it is so easy. The majority of the students, after two or three months, they think that they can do the class. But there were some who continued because they found that they had some problems, and the problems did improve a lot. When they try going somewhere, they know the difference. Yoga is everywhere, on street corners, everywhere you find it in China. They go to India to reach cash. They do maybe a month or so, they go back and call themselves teachers. They just think that after they have been to India, they take some yoga from an Indian master, then they are very authentic. And also, unfortunately, there are many, many Indians who arrive in China and give yoga. One of the very unethical things in China is copycat. They take materials from any master, then put them into circulation and use them. And not only that, they take here, take there, and they put it together and call it their own. They do not have continuation. Chinese are very, very hardworking. Very motivated, but direction not in one direction. So the society looks like big progress at the moment. They make everything happen overnight. Say, if you want to build a bridge, tomorrow you will see a bridge. It is actually everything is very, very fast. Like, I live in Haikou, Hainan. They want a railway to go around the whole island, and when I was there in 2016... v tom Hainanu, to rival Hong Kong. So it is a big development going on now. So they make things happen very, very quickly. There is something admirable. But on the other hand, they will do every effort to copy, to take. Generally, people are stressful, except they have very strong family ties, like in Eastern Europe. So they will get support from their families. There are many good things in China. They are full of history. In language, Chinese is very beautiful. There is a lot of old culture, but with the past, maybe during the revolution, many were destroyed, but they are now going back. In China, it is still very communistic at the moment. Although it looks like they are free, they are not. It is good and bad. The population in China is exploding. The populace in China is completely exploding in its quantity. Because unless you live there, you can see why there is good control for the population. From the outside, people look as if they are under too much control. I do like it there because Hainan is very tropical. It is like Hawaii. They call it the Hawaii of China. So, this is just something about China. So hopefully some of you would desire to come to China to help, because there is no language problem. They love to have English lessons. And someone from Slovenia here has been teaching in Chongqing. Asking if I can get help from any one of you who likes to go to China and teach. So everything that happened, what is now, I have different groups from different provinces, is through Viśva Gurujī’s light and Mahāprabhujī’s light. It is not me. I cannot really. I am like 80. If you look at me, I cannot teach yoga, but with Mahāprabhujī’s light, holy Gurujī’s help, and Viśva Gurujī making everything possible for me. So, all the exercises I have in China are only thanks to Mahāprabhujī’s light and Viśvagurujī’s light and Viśvagurujī’s support and Holī Gurujī, because without them, I would not be able to do anything. So I hope that China will come to Vishwagurujī. We already have five disciples there, and I hope that Vishwagurujī will come one day with all of you. Thank you.
