The name is important not the body

The essence of all spiritual paths is one, though names and forms differ. In this age, humanity knows of conflict and war, yet the unifying difference now is spirituality. Whether called yoga, prayer, or meditation, the core is the same. Languages and nations vary, but the human essence and the teachings are one. Various centers and temples bear different names, just as children in a village each receive a unique name, yet all are human. One should not claim exclusivity for a single path or teacher. Many beautiful trees exist in many forests; all share in oneness. The physical body is transient, but the name based on one's deeds endures. We must welcome all, respecting every guest and tradition as part of the same human family. True yoga is not merely physical exercise but the prāṇa and spirit within. The name is immortal, while the form is not.

"One in all and all in one."

"The name is immortal. The body is not immortal."

Mantra, mantra... mantra. Today, I will share something a little different. As this is Swāmījī’s television broadcast reaching the whole world, we respect this platform and are very happy to see our Yoga in Daily Life family all around the globe. In this Kali Yuga, many things become known to all humans, in the brain—what is wrong and what is not. We think that from age to age, there are always some negative things. For example, we know of the First World War and the Second World War, and we do not want there to be a third. The difference now is spirituality. You can call it yoga, meditation, prayer, or different religions, but we are all one. There may be differences in the ways of meditation, in spirituality, in religion, and in prayers, but in reality, we are all the same. For instance, how many of us are here from different countries? Everyone has a different language. But what I am talking about, the lecture I am giving, is the same. What they are listening to and understanding, and what I am speaking, is the same. So, the language is different, but the human’s words, the essence, are the same. This is what we tell: Yoga in Daily Life. But this is one name. There are thousands or millions of yoga centers, temples, churches, or āśramas. All are one. I would like to give you clarity on what is the difference. What we call Yoga in Daily Life, others may call by another name in their yoga city, their temples, or their church. But all are the same for humans. For example, there is a little village. One lady, a mother, gives birth to a baby. All people in the village are very happy. They give the child a name. After two or three days, another child is born in another house. In another few days, another child is born. We are all happy, and each child gets a different name. Every child has a different name and different parents, different languages and religions. Yet, all we are is human. One has this name, but we will not say that only this child was born and only this is the name. No name should be exclusive. That can be. When we have so many children, they all have different names, but all are human. Similarly, we should not say there is only one yoga. Yoga is yoga. Human is human. But we have names for humans; even animals have names. We know that our body is not immortal, but our name will remain—the name based on what you do for all. People will say, "Yes, this was the person." I see from European countries and every nation, they have their money, and on it is the name of a king or a leader. All these are different names, but they are human. In that way, we can say we have our Yoga in Daily Life. We have our Gurus’ names, but there are millions of Gurus, and people worship them too. We are here from many countries now, of all different religions, all in one yoga, in life. Someone else may come for a seminar whose Gurujī is different. Their bhajans and languages are different. But they came here and were also listening to our lectures from our Gurujīs. What Gurujīs always give you is something unique. So, we should not say, "If you are not my disciple or my Gurujī’s disciple, then we don’t want you." That is not good. Not good at all. When others come, they are like guests. They are our brothers and sisters. We should respect them. If someone has negative thinking towards others, saying, "No, if you are my disciple and do all that we do, then come; otherwise, go," that is not good. How many religions are there in the world? Everyone has their religion. They also have their disciples and their yoga’s name. Our Ālakpurījī, Devpurījī, Mahāprabhujī, and Holī Gurujī—we are all, including myself, oneness. You see, there are so many beautiful, big trees. One can say there is no forest more beautiful than this one, but in other villages or near a big house, there are beautiful trees too. They are the same—oneness. That is why Holī Gurujī said, "One in all and all in one." Then we will come further towards the cosmic. Otherwise, we are not going to the cosmic. We will just be kicking a football all the time. There is only one football, and how many are kicking it? They all come tired, and the ball is going. The ball might say, "They were kicking me, my God!" But the ball could also say, "You can’t hurt me. I feel no pain." Because the prāṇa inside is very strong. You kick, but I go farther than you. So, if we are like this, then it doesn’t matter; they will all come and think of one ball. Sometimes there are many people with one ball. How many people watch a football match during a championship? There is one ball, and it is seen by the whole world. There is only one ball. We should be like such a ball. We learn that sometimes the ball will go away, but there are great people who immediately put it in the bag. In one minute, talk. So be like that. That is like the whole creation on this earth. Every creature on this earth has its place. They are from this earth. Not only humans—there are many earth-living animals, even the trees, the earth itself, and the water. Where are you then? Where will you go? So, oh ball, how many times will you be kicked? And then it said, "As much as they kick me, I will go to the Brahmalokas." Because I am humble and good; all can kick me, I don’t care. So, the name is very important; the body is not so important. We say Bhagavān Kṛṣṇa; we don’t say Kṛṣṇa’s body, only the name Kṛṣṇa, Rāma, Bhagavān, Viṣṇu, or any other name. We don’t say Bhagavān Viṣṇu, Rāma, and so on—Jesus and many others. But again, one in all and all in one. Wherever we go, we immediately make āśramas here. We create a beautiful, humble, peaceful atmosphere. We were sitting there; the lecture was profound. Behind you, sitting there, is beautiful. The other side is very beautiful, and there is another one. Here now, we are in a big city, and everywhere we sit, we are comfortable like this. So, yoga is not only doing āsanas and push, push. You know, baby, I’m thinking it is football. Why? Because our lungs will be strong, our breath will be there, but it is the prāṇa. Where there is prāṇa, there is jīva. Therefore, yoga is not only exercises. Every day, Holī Gurujī said, "My son, don’t eat the same vegetable every day. Make some different vegetables, okay." Ah, that was not good. Gurujī was making many things. Then after ten days, he said to me, "You are cooking vegetables and eating what we call... Every day you are cooking very good." Different. I said, "Thank you, Gurujī. But I don’t understand; you make so many good things." But the stomach said, "It doesn’t matter, everything will be there." The taste is only in the tongue and mouth; there is no taste in the stomach. There are the good qualities, so in my whole body—in all my bones, flesh, nerves, etc.—all should be beautiful. This is only one part. Then we go further, that there is science. Though there are two sciences: the outer science, what we humans were doing. It is very good science. How many people are there? About 200 people in an airplane? They are flying very far away, and in about 8 or 10 hours they come to India. If we were to walk from here to there, how many days would it take? Science is very great. But then, after we are gone, we cannot go to mokṣa by that science. But in any temple, any religion, they are always talking in the name of God. And this name will remain. The bodies, the bones, they do not stay here long. Whether it is Bhagavān Brahmā, Śiva, Brahmā, Viṣṇu, or what we call Rāma, Kṛṣṇa, or another like Jesus—the name is growing. We don’t know what Jesus looked like. Someone made a picture of Jesus, and now we see only that photo. It is a name, and the name is immortal. The body is not immortal. So, immortal is that which will be forever. Similarly, in our āśram here, every spot we sit down, there is spirituality. Anywhere you look, we have two lakes. Sit near them... Look, there are many good things. Just look at what is there. So we are now here and have this beautiful satsaṅg. Yoga is what comes out of our heart when we are talking. We take books, and then we are running and listening. Is there a difference? Every day, it is said, the cow will give fresh milk. Every day, fresh milk will come. So it is with the Guru. Every day, give that knowledge. And so we say, "Oh yes, good," and, "Oh yes, Guru." Guru Bārame Jānu Sauna De.
