Practice: Raising the Kundalini
Karmayoga is the highest yoga. Those who do karma become the highest yogis. Students work hard, listening and practicing. Three very high yogic techniques are now given. Children may stay, but some matters are not for them. Sit comfortably; if thirsty, attend to it now. One sister, already a sannyāsī, sits in warmth. Hands rest on knees, palms down. Sit straight, one leg up, foot looking upward. If difficult, use Vajrāsana. Bring a stone or iron brick tomorrow for support. Pull shoulders slightly up, bow head, chin to heart. This posture is given now. After these techniques, other excellent practices exist, but they require a living guru’s physical presence. Do not pass these techniques on; others are not prepared. A doctor once fixed a broken back using a special method. When his father’s back broke, he tried the same, yet it failed. A king kept a monkey with a sword as his guard. A fly landed on the king’s nose; the monkey struck the fly and cut the king’s nose instead. The monkey knew only one technique. Become a master first. Now, sit straight, contract and relax the anus twenty-five times. This Aśvamudrā aids kuṇḍalinī. Then, with eyes closed, chant Om eleven times, moving awareness from navel to crown and back. Perform brahmārī prāṇāyāma: close ears with index fingers, hum deeply. Finally, place palms over eyes, open them, lower hands. Hari Om.
“Those who do the karma, they will be the highest yogīs.”
“Become first a master, and then do something.”
