Yogic Practice Session: Bārikhāṭu Praṇām and Prāṇāyāma

This session covers Bārīkhaṭu Praṇām and Prāṇāyāma.

Sit in Vajrāsana. Perform Bārīkhaṭu Praṇām five or fifteen times. Sit straight for Prāṇāyāma. Inhale slowly into the stomach, then the lungs. Exhale from up to down; do not empty the stomach immediately from below. Feel the air under the nābhi. Place two fingers between the eyebrows. Inhale and exhale through the right nostril only, thumb near the index finger. Do not force the breath. Sit straight while exhaling all down. Close the right nostril, inhale left, exhale right. Repeat left inhale, right exhale. Close the left nostril, inhale right, exhale left. Continue alternate breathing for fifteen rounds. After exhaling, place the hand on the thigh. Close the eyes and feel the breath in the nostrils.

“Feel the air under the nābhi.”

“Do not empty the stomach immediately from below.”

Śrī Dīp Nārāyaṇ Bhagavān Kī Jai, Dev Purīṣa Mahādeva Kī Jai, Satguru Svāmī Mādhavānandajī Bhagavān Kī Jai, Alakhpurījī Mahādeva Kī Jai, Sabṛṣi Muni Mahātmāoṃ Kī Jai, Jai. And now, please, some people are crowded together, with no space between them; some are far too close. Can we arrange it so that there is some distance there, in that area between? The bigger people are not here. So, organisers, could you please take care of this? Every day, please. Now, first we will do Bārīkhaṭu. Praṇām twenty — no, five, five times. Fifteen can also be done. So, why did you come late? Now, don’t come over there; sit on the grass. So, Vajranāḍī, Vajra Praṇām. Sit straight, sit in this position, Vajrāsana. You, stand — please stay standing, because everybody knows Bārikhāṭu Praṇām, how to do it. Is there anyone who doesn’t know? Okay, very good. He is only giving you instructions now. And don’t think about whether it will be cold. So, you don’t need someone taking this something, okay? So, Śrī Dīp Nārāyaṇa Bhagavān. Go ahead. There are two persons missing in that block. So, if anyone comes, put them here. Always you should take Bārikhāṭu Praṇām next. Okay, every time. Every position? Yes, not the ready position when you begin again. But a little silent, a little short, slowly. Okay. We are going to practice Bārīkhaṭu Praṇām, third round, one. Okay, yoga is here. Prāṇāyāma is here. Now, again, sit up, please. And now, sit in a beautiful posture. The prāṇāyāmas will come. So, of course, if you have little things to put on your shoulders, it is cold. Slowly, take the breath into the stomach and come up. Exhale from up to down. Inhale, and exhale. Go ahead with your own quality, as much as you can. But first, feel the air under the nābhi. And first, feel the belly, and then come to the lungs. Up and exhale, again empty from up to down. Go ahead. One should not empty the stomach immediately from below. And we are coming to our throat. Exactly the same is what you should do now. Go ahead. We are sitting straight, shoulders relaxed. Inhale is going through the nostril. And now, place your hand on the thigh. And feel the breath. How do you feel in the left nostril? But if you are not feeling on the left side, feel both sides, both nostrils. Again, place your hand, two fingers below, between the eyebrows, and with the left nostril, ring finger, and inhale and exhale through the right nostril, and let your thumb near the index finger. Do not try to feel too much air. Also, not too little. Inhale with the right nostril and exhale through the right nostril. Try to sit straight while exhaling all down, but then bring your hand down on your thigh or the knee. Close your eyes, relax, and feel the breath. Again, both fingers. Close the right nostril. Inhale with the left nostril, then with the ring finger, close the left nostril. And exhale through the right nostril. Again, close, inhale through the left nostril, and right nostril out. Again, close the right nostril, and inhale through the left nostril, and exhale through the right nostril. Right nostril, go ahead. When you use the right nostril, when you take off your thumb, then bring the thumb near the index finger. Inhale with left, exhale with right. Inhale through the right and breathe out again, left. After exhaling from the left nostril, place your hand on your thigh. Someone’s telephone is ringing; please take it home. Feel your breath through the nostrils. How do you feel? Again, both fingers. And close the left nostril. Inhale through the right nostril. Exhale left nostril. Exhale left. Inhale. And exhale. Right inhale, left out, and hands down. Left inhale, right exhale, inhale, right exhale, left. And now, with the inhale first, from the left, exhale through the left, inhale with the left, exhale through the right. Inhale, exhale, inhale, exhale. Fifteen times. Fifteen times. Then you place your hand on your legs.
