Aśvinī Mudrā and Om Practice
The practice combines Aśvinī Mudrā with the mantra Om to awaken Śakti and direct it up the spine. Sit comfortably. Close the eyes. Chant Om five times from the navel to the Sahasrāra and back to the nostrils. Feel the vibration through the entire body. Inhale deeply. Exhale. Extend both legs. Place hands on the knees. Sit straight with the head slightly lowered. Contract and relax in Aśvinī Mudrā. Inhale and contract; exhale and release. Perform twenty-five rounds. Feel the vibration move through the spinal cord to the chin, shoulders, and ears. This energy rises to the Sahasrāra Chakra. Repeat another twenty-five rounds. Lower the chin to let Śakti emerge. The mudrā means controlling the horse, bringing complete bodily mastery. Then chant Om from the navel five times, relax, repeat five times, then three times.
"It is a very beautiful, very powerful, and deeply peaceful energy—a potent Śakti."
"Aśvinī Mudrā is like electricity. That is why all parts of the body of the yogīs have been brought under control."
