Aśvinī Mudrā and Om Practice

The practice combines Aśvinī Mudrā with the mantra Om to awaken Śakti and direct it up the spine. Sit comfortably. Close the eyes. Chant Om five times from the navel to the Sahasrāra and back to the nostrils. Feel the vibration through the entire body. Inhale deeply. Exhale. Extend both legs. Place hands on the knees. Sit straight with the head slightly lowered. Contract and relax in Aśvinī Mudrā. Inhale and contract; exhale and release. Perform twenty-five rounds. Feel the vibration move through the spinal cord to the chin, shoulders, and ears. This energy rises to the Sahasrāra Chakra. Repeat another twenty-five rounds. Lower the chin to let Śakti emerge. The mudrā means controlling the horse, bringing complete bodily mastery. Then chant Om from the navel five times, relax, repeat five times, then three times.

"It is a very beautiful, very powerful, and deeply peaceful energy—a potent Śakti."

"Aśvinī Mudrā is like electricity. That is why all parts of the body of the yogīs have been brought under control."

Devādhideva, Devapuruṣa, Mahādeva kī, Satguru Svāmī Mādhavānandajī Bhagavān kī, Alakhpurījī Mahādeva kī, Satyasanātana Dharma kī. Good morning. It is already approaching midday. Our exercises were beautiful. Now we will practice. Everyone, sit in a good position for our practice. Sit comfortably; every part of your body should feel at ease. Place your hands, close your eyes, and chant Oṃ five times—from the navel to the Sahasrāra, and from the Sahasrāra to both nostrils, through the chakra in the forehead. You know this, so now take a deep inhalation. Feel the sound of Oṃ throughout the entire body. From the navel to the top of the head, then back down again to the nostrils. Inhale five times. Deeply inhale and exhale. Do not move your head. Straighten your neck. Deep inhale, exhale. Inhale, exhale, inhale, exhale… Relax; it is very beautiful and comfortable. Extend both legs. Try to bring your knees toward the ground. Now place both hands on the knees, palms resting on the knees. Na kolena. Sit straight, with the head slightly lowered. Bring your chin toward your shoulders. Pull your shoulders back. Remain there. Aśvinī Mudrā—but do not hold the contraction for long. Contract and relax. Inhale and exhale. Inhale, exhale. And maintain control. Twenty-five times. There should be no tension. Simply keep your elbows straight, hands on the knees. Inhale and contract; exhale and release. During this vibration, it should travel through your spinal cord. It will come to your chin, to your shoulders, and you will feel vibration in both ears. It is beautiful, deeply relaxing, and it flows through the spine. The final impulse travels through your ears as vibration and rises up to the Sahasrāra Chakra. It is a very beautiful, very powerful, and deeply peaceful energy—a potent Śakti. Śakti means our energy. This energy is everywhere. Now, inhale and lift your head. Relax your elbows. Feel thyself. Within thyself, it means each and every vibration throughout the whole body—whatever you feel, that is the energy. This vibration advances through the entire body. When we release, it will travel very subtly throughout the whole body. Again, perform twenty-five rounds of Aśvinī Mudrā. Feel it. Go ahead. You should simply follow my voice and my instructions; there is no need to look around or write anything down. And through this, you will discover this āśrama’s teachings on mudrā and the very precise exercise or practice for the body. Then we lower the head a little, the chin tucking in. And here this Śakti emerges. Śakti does not mean female, nor male. It is that single power present within all. It will be like lightning, but this takes time. The chin is very, very powerful. And Aśvinī Mudrā also means controlling the horse. The horse—its chin. It comes down. The horse is drawn in, reaching toward his shoulder. The hands must press firmly on the knees. There is complete control throughout the whole body, both hands equally engaged. Aśvinī Mudrā is like electricity. That is why all parts of the body of the yogīs have been brought under control. What we speak of is like when you ride a horse: you must control it. The teacher or master guides, and the master controls the horse. This is the Śakti and Bhakti that flows through this Vajranāḍī in Aśvinī Mudrā. Now, from the navel, perform the mudrā with our mantra, Oṃ, five times. Five times, then relax a little; again five times, and again, and then three times.
