The Divine Unity of Life

A spiritual discourse on the unity of life and the path to divinity.

"Yoga is the journey from our body to our cosmic life."

"Life is God. If you understand what God is, how is God? We know God, and yet we know nothing."

The lecturer addresses the community at the Vienna ashram, exploring the divine essence present in all forms of life and the nature of the soul. He discusses the illusion of separation between genders, reflects on the purpose of marriage and family, and advocates for compassionate living through a vegan diet, emphasizing non-violence and spiritual practice as the true meaning of yoga.

Oṁ, dīhī, śānti, śānti,... Śāntiḥ, śāntiḥ,... śāntiḥ. I am very happy to be back in Vienna, here in our beautiful ashram. I am very happy that you are here. Yoga is the journey from our body to our cosmic life. Yoga is not merely physical exercises and nothing more. Yoga is essential; it is needed for our body. In all worlds and on all earths, in all kinds of life—humans, animals, birds, and all beings—the body is different, but life is distinct. Life is both physical and divine. Therefore, it does not matter if we are humans or other beings; we are all children of God, you could say. Big or small, that is not the point. Consider the ocean, the vast ocean. How much water do we speak of? In the clouds, too, that is the ocean. And when rain comes from small drops, it is also from there. From very fine drops, a very large one becomes another. So, life is God. If you understand what God is, how is God? We know God, and yet we know nothing. God is one with the whole universe. And in this universe, there are many, many things: our ocean, our land, our grass, rocks, much, all life, all lives. We should contemplate our life. We cannot stay long; we are not eternal. But God has said there are 84 million kinds of life, and one of them is human. God has given something very special in our thoughts, and we can do much for all. Who has said this? The great gods have said it, and so I say it too. Life—we should live for life. Water is also life. We have five elements, and among them, water is one. And within the water, we are even further. Five elements on the earth are for all life. But we do not wish to remain here always; we wish to go to the Divine, to the Cosmic. That is beautiful; there is no more pain, nothing at all. It is in our consciousness, in our inner Self, in our feelings. Everything is in our heart, a very small feeling there. And from the heart, a small one goes further back into our navel. Our navel, and also the navel of, for example, grass or large animals, the deer, a very big tree—they also have a navel. The roots go down, and others come up for us. Where? How? Where? A seed—that is a whole, small, large tree, but a very fine fruit and seed inside. And sometimes it is as big as a watermelon. Thank God, He gave me the earth. It is a story of mine, but I do not want to tell you the time today. As long as we live, we live, but all of us live and we go. But humans have more; I wish, in my inner self, to go to God. Where is God? That is very vast. Where is God? Today in our ashram, there is so much God here. All here are God. And for God, there is no separate woman or man. That is one body. So one must not think, "These are the women, this is a man." Oh, my man, you know nothing. This woman, she is also a mother. If she were nothing, you would be nowhere. And where you are, nowhere, the mother cannot come. God has given this. And so, our life that we love and live, that is God. And on that day, our five elements go away. The Ātmā, the soul, or what we say, it goes. When we say someone died, in the seconds when our body, the ātmā, goes, suddenly our soul departs. Like, for example, at night we see stars fall. And we see how quickly it goes. And so it is; we are all bound in our body. But when we say the body is given up, it means killed, yes, is killed, or not killed, yes, yes. That means, ah, then, where is he? Where is the Ātmā? Who are you? Where are you? We cannot hold on. And that is the light, and light is fire. And fire cannot stay without water. In the ocean is the fire. Fire is water. That comes another time, we say. So, when will we die? We do not need anything at all. When we were born, and the mother's body was shown... how do you say that, please? How did we become pure? And what do we say immediately? First, with the mouth, and after, to breathe—the first breath. Now the ātmā is double. Now I am separate from my mother. But now I am here. How did I come to my mother? The father. And what does the father give to the mother? That is why they say, here we all sit, a man and a woman. But a woman and a man are together. A man has more feelings, and so on, for the woman, and the woman for the man. And in these two, there is water and fire. In these, we go on. But now we do not know how we will end up. It is not about us. One is happy, one is not happy. One has a good family; one has a bad family. One has a wife that is not so good. The man drinks alcohol, and so on. We do not know what it is. And it will always be that very few people are happy from birth, everything is good, then we got married. And marriage, what is that? It is not always only for love, female, male. It is when they have, okay, we married, and we are okay. How many days will you slip into sleep? How many days? The father, your husband will say, "Please get up and make the coffee." She says, "If you want, do it yourself." And it comes so. So, if one wishes to marry a man or a woman, it means for a lifetime. This is not just our, so to speak, love thy body. Love thy body, not all the time. We see many, many old people. I have seen in Austria too. A man is old, and the women are also very old. But they are so together. It is like mother and child. I have been in Austria for 24 years, and I have seen a lot. It is still a lot, and a lot better now. I do not know how it happened. So, two together does not mean anything. Whether she wants my wife so long, and there goes another, it is for the children. When a child is there, then you say, "Finished." Now it is our task for our children. That is it. But other things, how many years and years, and one goes to the other, and the other goes to the other. That means that it is for the animals. But many animals and birds also do not go to a second. When one is more or less stripped, the other will be more or less in half a year or so. That is unity, and this unity goes to the divinity. God says, "That is what I did for you. I bring you light, oh man." Yes, a light. And the light is then one. Therefore, we should think, practice, meditate, and read holy books. We have so many Mahāprabhujī books. Learn one page every day. Say the same thing every day. It will say, "Aha, this is different. Aha, this is different. Aha, this is good, this is so." So, is that manhood, manly? Others do not know about alcohol and other things. Many, many things: drinking, many things. So, in my opinion, please, who is my God, my gurus, my masters of the masters—I mean, all of you who are sitting here—they gave it to me. But I am not like them. I will then, when I have done all the work and am on the right path, when I die, I will come as God. I am not saying that a woman went there. No. Women and men are only one body. The Ātmā is that. And many, many people in ancient times also, they had women very much, very much. Also, you yourself now once say, they went, they are... what does one say that? The women, woman is divine. And man is also divine. God has given this for two things. He should work more, and they must do good for the children and this and that. But one may like everything. Now we see in Austria many, many women who work very well. Everything, they are in politics and everything. Why not? All good. And I believe in Austria, the human... Yeah, are you? The gates are on the way? Yeah. But gates yet? Gates are on the way? In bed, he was shown. Are the gates yet? You came, you come now, or you are going? I am going. Yes. Oh, ban? Ban means I give a boy. Ban means I give a boy. Pidir pochke. Pochke ta ki prashad. May I? Okay. Thank you. Pomali, pomali. Thank you. God bless you. Of course. Thank you. Is there anyone else? I came a little too late, right? Hello, I am coming soon. Give her two apples. And give her the chocolate, these three, four. This chocolate. Three. Yes. Yes, my dear, give. Big, big. And so, they are all over the world. The women have also learned, very well, thank God, and, but, it is so good, but unfortunately not good, and that, the women were good, and then they came here, learn and everything, and very good, but in addition, the man is, he was very lazy, and alcohol, hall, and playing the money, and this is another side of the world. So please, on my side, I would say if you want to marry, then do not marry for your sex. If you are married for sex, your brain will be gone. Yes, you are not for this. Okay, you will give the child and that, but both husband and wife should become, sometimes, when all these... then, you know, the husband said, "Mother," say sometime. The husband said, "Mother, can you give me? Really?" Sometimes, yes. Or say to husband or something, something. I see mostly people from the countryside for this. So, I think if you can do something for the best, the best in your life, then be humble, kind, and have oneness in your thinking, not in bodies. And that is what my teaching is: do what you want, but you are your mother, your father, and others. But, of course, we have this because... I want to tell you something: humans should not kill anyone, not only humans but animals. How many animals are they killing and eating? And this, you know, is now very much in Austria. I am saying here, and Germany is better than here. And many vegans, by the vegans, people understood, girls and boys, they failed in the heart, so that is how they are slaughtering the animals. We should think, and food for people is different. Fruits, vegetables, that and that, nothing. But it is Kali Yuga, they say. Kali Yuga means Kalk. But it will come. Very terrible things will come. But we will, God, I tell you, and I believe, God, I tell you with folded hands to all of you, we will come to the great one up there. Please give all of you help to the animals. But it is very, very... Anyhow, a very good story. I went to one part of this, but I went to the other part of this because of how our life should go now. Think. Put beside one of your, if you have a little animal in your home, a good animal for you, a bird or a cat or a dog or something, yeah? And near your plate, on your plate, on the plate, and on the other side, your prasāda, fruits. And you take it and kill them? You will not let them kill your cat. And we get a cat in hand, and the animals to doctors and everything, it is like our child. But in hidden, why are you? The couple is going to marry in the church, very nice, all. But after, they will go, and what are they doing? How many animals were killed and given to everybody? Some, what is that? Think it is yours, not my place. So whatever you have done, that is done, is done now. But tell me, please, it is gone. I will never be again. I will not touch that. You have some people here, and it is vegan. I was not in any vegan restaurant. I do not go to other restaurants. I eat in my house. I am eating and eating like this. Their people, they take their father or mother or the family, they take the animals and cut them. What is that? So that is that, like animals. And one is like a holy saint; you are all holy. Anyhow, I wish that you please practice yoga, but real yoga. And these real yogīs around the whole world, there you have yoga entire life. And many yogīs, many yoga centers, in Vienna we have some yoga centers, outside also many good sannyāsī swāmīs, they are very good, but others, they do not understand what it is, and they are doing wrong things. So many, many swamis, some they are gone, but their disciples are there, they have their yoga centers, very good, very good. Go there, like this ashram. Vienna, Vienna, I think two, three centers of many things. Also in Austria, many, many centers. But they are all very humble, very kind. Those who are sitting here as my disciples, and I know who have come, I do not know about them, but I am very respectful. Our friends came here. I wish them blessings. But I will tell our disciples, they do not even have the egg, because the egg is also life. And why did they make another life? They make something now, doing there is no life. Life is their life, this or hotels are. Vegan, they do not have egg. Even they do not want to take milk from the cows because they killed animals, cow, cow, and all of these. We have to say, we have to say, and we should. And we are like a God. Hari Om, my dears. I wish you, if I made something wrong, I am sorry, and give it back to me. If it was something good, please try to help thyself.
